== MAHAPRAYAN OF TATTVIKA ARJUNA ==
Namaskar,
Today, it is so unfortunate to share the news that after a long-term
illness, the mahaprayan* of Tattvika Arjuna of Los Angeles (USA)
occurred today, 5 January 2007. Brother Arjuna was a widely respected
and integral member of our Marga family so his mahaprayan is a great
loss to us all.
One might say that in the last 25 yrs, no single person has spread the
AM mission in NY sector the way Tattvika Arjuna did. All know that he
worked tirelessly teaching yoga classes and establishing various service
projects. In fact, many active and senior margiis of NY sector came into
our Marga via brother Arjuna's yoga classes. And one of the most
successful MU's in New York sector, Ananda Dhama, is the direct result
of brother Arjuna's inspiration, insight, and execution. Without Arjuna,
there would be no Ananda Dham MU in southern California.
Truly, our dear brother Arjuna was dedicated to Baba and His mission.
Indeed, Arjuna's activities in AM are so varied and involved, that
better to just say that he gave his all to Baba's mission.
He is survived by his wife, Sharada, and his daughter, Sulocana.
By Baba's grace our dear brother Arjuna, having undergone his
mahaprayan, is now sitting on Baba's divine lap-- no longer suffering
from mundane afflictions-- resting eternally in the blissful presence of
our Sadguru Baba.
Baba Nam Kevalam... may we all take a moment to remember Arjuna on this
day of his mahaprayan and remind ourselves once again that Guru's grace
is everything.
With deepest respects,
Yours brotherly,
Rasa Deva
* Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the
common term used in India and especially in Bengal to describe the death
of an honoured or even ordinary person. In that way the newspapers of
Bengal are regularly citing the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of
society who died or passed away.
Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan'
(death) is one extraordinarily devotional term to be used in association
with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is
only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no
devotees ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or
Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then
there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death).
And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be
clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the
Samsad Bengali-English dictionary on page 742. Checking there it
will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why
it used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens.
