== ONE SHOULD KNOW THE REASON ==
(WHY INDUSTRIALISED NATIONS ARE SUFFERING MORE
IN THIS CURRENT ECONOMIC DOWNTURN)
Namaskar,
At present, we see the global economy faltering in countless ways. On a
daily basis there seems to be an ever-increasing array of cracks in the
glass house of capitalism.
Many leaders and consultants are trying to put their finger on the
cause. They are trying to identify the problem, yet their every analysis
is off the mark.
In stark contrast, in His Proutistic teachings, Baba has pointedly
exposed the exact nature of the problem and given the right solution. In
straightforward, economic parlance, He has named the specific cause to
the chaos that has erupted.
As Proutists, it is our duty to understand Baba's view and preach the
solution He has given.
BALANCED ECONOMY IS NEEDED
In a phrase, Baba's reply to the current crisis is a balanced economy.
Baba says, "You know, in a balanced economy there should be proper
adjustment among agriculture, industry and commerce. For example, a
fixed percentage of people should be engaged in agriculture, another
fixed percentage in industry and some percentage in commerce. Otherwise
there will be no equipoise or equilibrium in the socio-economic sphere
of life." (PNS-12)
Simply speaking, Baba's guideline is that within every economy a "fixed
percentage" of people should be involved in various types of work:
Agriculture, industry, and commerce.
Here Baba lays down the foundation of a balanced economy.
Baba says, "If the percentage of people engaged in non-agricultural
industries is kept within twenty to thirty percent of the population,
this is the state of balanced economy – a really balanced socio-economic
structure." (PE)
So no more than 30% of the workforce should be involved in the
industrial and commercial sectors.
By this way, by keeping these sectors in check, what is produced in one
region - whether it be potatoes or plastic or automobiles - will be
needed by someone else in that same socio-economic unit. There will be
balance, not an overflow of one thing and a shortage of something else.
The key behind it all is to have fixed percentage - limited number - of
workers and managers engaged in the non-agricultural fields so as to
prevent over-industrialisation.
Should the precepts of a balanced economy not be followed, then serious
problems arise. That is what we are seeing right now all around the
globe. There are extreme food shortages in some lands and the
over-industrialised nations are not getting their goods sold. Everyday
things like bicycles, cars, computers, household items etc are being
produced yet there is an extreme shortage of buyers.
IF IMBALANCED THEN CHAOS RESULTS
Here is Baba's clear-cut warning.
Baba says, "If the percentage [in non-agricultural industries] goes
beyond thirty percent, the area becomes industrially developed. Then,
the more this percentage increases above thirty percent, the more
over-industrialized the area becomes." (PE)
That is what has happened with many nations in the northern hemisphere -
countries like Japan, Germany, China, the United States etc.
For example, the breakdown of Japan's workforce is: Agriculture 4.6%,
industry 27.8%, and services 67.7%.
In 2004 the German workforce was maldistributed as follows: agriculture,
2.2%; industry, 26.4%; and services, 71.3%.
In that case, these nations and others like them are totally imbalanced
and suffer from extreme over-industrialisation.
Baba's mandate is not more than 20% - 30% of the population should work
in non-agricultural industries, yet Japan's and Germany's figures are
95.4% a.d 97.8%, respectively.
In that case, among other things, they are producing far more goods than
they can sell within their own borders, so they have to go chasing after
customers in other lands.
Baba says, "These over-industrialized countries also find it necessary
to keep industrially undeveloped countries within their control in order
to use them as a market for their finished goods." (PE)
Thus in order to procure a market and snatch up the much needed natural
resources, industrialised nations compete and fight for control over
so-called third world nations.
These days China is making big efforts toward this end in Africa. The US
has been flexing their muscles in Central and South America for decades,
and the European nations have also pillaged Africa. Plus there are
countless other cases.
All this happens due to over-industrialisation, i.e. when more than 30%
of the population is working in non-agricultural industries.
At the same time, none of the natural resources in Africa are being made
into finished goods by workers from those African nations. That is
another off-shoot. Those populations then are not having any jobs at all
and have no money to buy finished goods from producing nations. The
whole situation becomes totally out of balance.
Ultimately chaos results, both abroad and internally. Because when an
over-industrialised nation cannot find buyers in the global market, then
their factories and industries shut down. That brings unemployment, and
so many serious issues. That is why industrialised nations are suffering
so much at the present moment.
Baba says, "If they do not get a market to sell the consumer goods
produced in their countries, they will suffer from economic depression
and growing unemployment." (PE)
And when a severe economic downturn occurs in the industrialised
nations, then this creates a terrible domino effect all across the globe.
PROUTISTIC SOLUTION
Baba's analysis then is very precise and the Proutistic solution is
quite straightforward. It is all about over-industrialisation, and
fixing it by having a greater number of people work in the agricultural
sector of the economy.
That is the main issue and solution in this present global crisis.
If a country is stable and balanced with regards to the allocation of
their workforce, i.e. proper percentages in all the sectors, then those
people are free then to make progress in more subtle realms of life:
Art, music, spirituality etc.
Otherwise those lands are just plunges in existential worries due to a
failing economy. In that case, higher pursuits are grossly neglected.
So the ramifications of a balanced economy are far-reaching and effect
all the realms of life: physical, social, psychic, and spiritual.
BABA'S BLESSING
By Baba's grace He has given the answer to the current global economic
crisis. Over-industrialisation in so-called first world nations is the
main cause. We must preach the tenets of Prout, then little by little
people will understand and reap benefits of having a balanced economy.
Baba says, "You should bring about this revolution. You should
collectively chalk out plans and programmes and demand such a change,
such a revolution. Do not delay." (PNS-12)
