Baba, You are so gracious: You are the dearest One of everyone's heart. Baba,  You Yourself have no comparison; Your divine love has no parallel. Baba, Your grace knows no logic or reasoning. You do not differentiate between the virtuous and the sinners; You do not consider the righteous from the wrongdoers. Baba, You shower Your grace equally on one and all. Baba, You love each and every being of this expressed universe; You pour Your infinite compassion on all. Baba, Your unending grace is causeless.

Baba, You are so sweet. You are hiding in the depths of everyone's mind - everyone's heart. By Your cosmic grace, whatever is best to be done for others You do. You take care of everything for everyone. Baba, You have given everything without anyone even asking. Baba, still today You are constantly drenching everyone with Your divine inspiration so they can move on the path of divinity-- on the path towards You.

Baba, in the sky of my heart You are ever sparkling; Baba, You are the hope of effulgence in my hopeless heart. You fill my entire being with Your sweet smile. == PREJUDICE AGAINST ONE OF OUR SPIRITUAL TREATISES ==

With Ananda Purnima (25 May 2013) a mere month away, it is time to begin preparing for this grand occasion. Part and parcel of the Ananda Purnima festival is the reading of the Ananda Vanii.

WHAT IS A TRUE ANANDA VANII ~ WHAT IS A FAKE ANANDA VANII

Nowadays in our Ananda Marga, there are two types of Ananda Vaniis: (1) True Ananda Vaniis and (2) Fake Ananda Vaniis.

True Ananda Vaniis are those original Ananda Vaniis given by Baba Himself on Ananda Purnima and New Year’s Day – and on select other occasions – from 1955 – 1990. Always they were unique messages of inspiration that had never been printed or published before; plus this letter details many other qualities of these timeless teachings.

In contrast, Fake Ananda Vaniis have been created by various factional leaders by dissecting and removing portions of previously published discourses. Such persons take these lines out of context and present them in ways that best suits their agenda. These are what are known as Fake Anand Vaniis.

This entire posting makes the case that only Baba’s original and true Ananda Vaniis should be used. They are eternal teachings of truth that give insight and inspiration for all kinds of situations. Thus on New Year’s Day and Ananda Purnima only these True Ananda Vaniis should be read and discussed.

WHY TRUE ANANDA VANIIS ARE ETERNAL

Every one of Baba’s true and original Ananda Vaniis is eternal. This fact cannot be denied; even then a few remained confused and carry around their own dogma about this.

Here, however, is the rational reply demonstrating that Baba’s true Ananda Vaniis are timeless.

(1) Baba chose to deliver His spiritual teachings directly to His disciples through venues like DMC (Dharma Maha Cakra), GD (General Darshan), and the reading and discussion of the Ananda Vanii etc. For instance, He conducted a DMC in Varanasi on 29 October in 1979. Every sadhaka clearly understands that that DMC discourse was not just for residents of Varanasi nor were the teachings only relegated for that particular day. Every rational Ananda Margii clearly understands how that DMC discourse is part of our dharmashastra. It is true across time and space and has been included in the Subhasita Samgraha series and stands as part of our spiritual teachings. This is indisputable.

(2) In the same way, Baba chose select days and places to put forth His teachings of Ananda Vanii Samgraha. Those He delivered primarily on the occasions of New Year’s Day & Ananda Purnima – as well as once or twice on Shravanii Purnima and Sharadotsava etc. And just like with His DMC discourses, those Ananda Vaniis are not at all limited in scope to the particular day and place of delivery. Those Ananda Vaniis are His timeless messages for all of humanity. That means that Ananda Vanii #27 given on Ánanda Púrńimá 1967 is as true and relevant today as the day it was given. No rational minded margii can think that Baba’s Ananda Vanii was for that day only or that place only.

(3) Here the point is that Sadguru Baba wanted to put forth Ananda Marga ideology in front of His disciples and He created the system by which to do so – i.e. by delivering public discourses and messages during DMC, GD, etc. In that case, place and date have no bearing on the value of the teaching. Those spiritual guidelines exist across time and space. On those occasions, Baba’s motive was to give teachings for all of universal humanity, and the actual venue was merely a tool for doing so.

(4) Just as we consider His DMC discourse to be part of the dharma shastra of Ananda Marga ideology; we should consider His Ananda Vanii Samgraha collection to be the same, i.e. an integral aspect of Ananda Marga dharma shastra. Why should one be prejudice against the Ananda Vanii series. One should not fall prey to such illogical and sentimental thinking. With a vast open mind, one should give Baba’s True Ananda Vaniis the same unquestioned status as His DMC discourses. There should not be any bias or favouritism. Both are inherent aspects of our spiritual treatise. None should sit back and think that the Ananda Vanii series is a social discourse or some historical teaching and hence subject to time, place, and person. Those Ananda Vaniis are bullets of inspirational truth for all people of all ages.

(5) Ananda Marga shastra is tri-shastra: dharma shástra (spiritual treatise), darshan shástra (philosophical treatise) and samája shástra (social treatise). Both dharma shastra and darshan shastra are eternal – and are not subject to change over time. The collection of True Ananda Vaniis is clearly part of our spiritual treatise; they are eternal; they are part of our dharma shastra, just like Ananda Sutram, Subhasita Samgraha, and Ananda Vacanamrtam are part of our spiritual treatise.

TRUE ANANDA VANIIS:

FACE PREJUDICE LIKE HARIJANS

(6) If anyone reads a DMC discourse and they see the date and place printed at the end then they feel that it is validated as the time when Baba graciously gave this universal, spiritual teaching. But when some read an Anana Vanii and see the date at the end, they think it is old, outdated, and without any charm. This is their dogmatic and irrational approach. This is their prejudice. It is no different than if one introduces a Harijan (so-called untouchable) to someone in India, then people in the general population will think that person is dirty. Likewise in the US, if someone introduces a black man to someone they will think that man is a thief or criminal. These kinds of stereotypes are the effect of a dogmatic mind and are inherently biased. No good person should fall prey to this outlook. Yet some in our Ananda Marga hold that very same stereotypical thinking with regards to Baba’s Ananda Vaniis. They read them and think those are old, just as some think that a harijan must be dirty or a black man must be a criminal. Now is the time to banish this stereotype from the mind and accept Ananda Vaniis as part and parcel of the dharma shastra of Ananda Marga ideology. The prejudice against Baba’s True Ananda Vanii must be stopped. These are timeless teachings of truth and their inherent glory must be recognised.

Fabricating Fake Ananda Vaniis as if that is the Ananda Vanii for this particular occasion is completely wrong and misleading. It is a direct attack on the veracity and greatness of Baba’s True Ananda Vaniis.

FOR NOW AND FOR THE FUTURE

As we all know, Baba’s original A’nanda Va’niis have been given especially by Him to be our guiding force of life as they give us inspiration for the journey of forward movement.

Baba’s divine Ananda Vaniis hold an eternal quality. The unique aspect of any A’nanda Vanii is that each Van’ii has a special import and holds an eternal teaching.

For instance, in 1976, Baba issued an Ananda Vanii specifically about Sixteen Points. He was sending the divine message that if we Ananda Margiis follow 16 Points, then our Ananda Marga ideology will remain alive and certainly we will be victorious. Here is that A’nanda Vanii:

“Be firm on sixteen points. Unite all the righteous forces. All the tall talks of the evil forces will be silenced.” (A’nanda Va’nii #44)

This same divine message remains an eternal bullet of truth for the ages. That is one of the unique aspects of Baba’s original and true Ananda Vaniis. They will stand tall far into the future of human civilisation. We know Baba’s original Vaniis hold lasting value and eternal teachings for the whole humanity. That is why it is most appropriate to use His original Ananda Vaniis again and again.

AN ANANDA VANII FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Regardless of the circumstance – whether there be exploitative leaders at the helm or whether humanity is on the rise – Baba has graciously given Ananda Vaniis that will perfectly suit the mood of the humanity. Each of Baba’s original and true Ananda Vaniis will be a fireball of inspiration and strength for the people. They will guide sadhakas how to progress in individual life as well as resolve collective issues. Hence, no matter the current social milieu, always His divine Ananda Vaniis will be appropriate and shed light on the present condition.

THE BEAUTY OF BABA’S ORIGINAL ANANDA VANIIS

Baba’s true Ananda Vanii messages which He has given twice annually on New Year’s Day and on Ananda Purnima are very precise and pointed like an arrow. They are complete discourses in and of themselves. They are not part of any larger discourse and they are not just a quote or partial paragraph. Baba’s true Ananda Vaniis are 100% full & complete and ready to stand as is. Plus they are unique and new in their own particular way – never a repeat of previously released material.

This following list further encapsulates the essence of our Ananda Vaniis:
1) Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis are unique teachings not repeated from earlier discourses;
2) Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis are complete unto themselves; they are not part of a greater chapter;
3) Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis were a special message both for that moment as well as for eternal time; only Taraka Brahma Himself can give such a teaching;
4) Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis are self-contained truths;
5) Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis were hand-written by Mahasambhuti Himself.

In His collection, Baba has given us 74 of these divine guidelines known as Ananda Vaniis. Each with their own special beauty; each with their own timeless message. And Baba has Himself specially drawn them all together and marked them as the Ananda Vanii Samgraha. These alone stand as those unparalleled and dharmic messages which Baba has so graciously blessed us with during the time of His global DMC gatherings.

So in the realm of Ananda Vanii, Baba’s specially given messages are the biggest asset in this entire universe. These are what Baba wants to call His grand and golden teachings of Ananda Vanii.

EVERY SCRIPTURE HAS IT OWN SPECIAL APPLICATION

As we know each and every Baba’s teaching has its own special and unique value. To misuse or distort them – as some do with Fake Ananda Vaniis – will not bear any fruit.

(a) For example, take the case of Caryacarya: It is one of our Ananda Marga books but it is not suitable for reading as svadhyaya after dharmacakra. If used for this purpose then that is wrong. But Caryacarya is absolutely perfect & blemishless as our smrti shastra – or social code. Because Caryacarya is the social code of Ananda Marga. But it is not for use as svadhyaya after dharmacakra.

(b) Similarly, when we want to know about the depths of Ananda Marga philosophy then we have to read Ananda Marga philosophy books like ‘Ananda Sutram’ and ‘Idea and Ideology’ etc. Reading Caryacarya by itself is not going to meet the purpose of learning the whole Ananda Marga philosophy in a deeper sense. But surely if one is to perform a marriage, shraddha ceremony, or any other type of social function etc, then Caryacarya has a highly significant role.

(c) Likewise, when singing a song to start the paincajanya or dharmacakra program then the book ‘Idea and Ideology’ is not going to help. Neither will ‘A Guide to Human Conduct’ or ‘Shabda Cayanika’. To sing the song, only the Prabhat Samgita book is suitable.

(d) And when reviewing critical matters on politics and economics then books like ‘Strange Experiences’, ‘Shrii PR Sarkar stories’ or ‘Ideal farming’ will not be helpful. Rather we should seek support from the Prout in a Nutshell series.

(e) Similarly, if one wishes to venture into outer space, then a bicycle will not help. Rather one must have a rocket ship to blast off into outer space.

Likewise the only work that can serve as an Ananda Vanii are Baba’s original and true messages of Ananda Vanii.

The whole point being that all of Baba’s divine books are 100% perfect for their stated purpose – thus all are of equal importance. No book is high; no publication is low. Baba has given each for a particular use, i.e. for their own golden purpose.

Thusly, taking a quote from one book and then labeling it as an Ananda Vanii is not going to work at all. Rather it will be a Fake Ananda Vanii.

The best way to root out any such dogma is to expose its inherent defects and then convince one and all not to fall prey to that dogma – like the one about Fake Ananda Vanii. By Baba’s grace, progress is being made as more and more rational Ananda Margiis are wholly rejecting the Fake Ananda Vanii. Plus certain group oriented offices have stopped using Fake Ananda Vaniis because it will not serve their interests. So for various reasons, the Fake Ananda Vanii is getting left by the wayside.

MERITS OF DHARMASHASTRA

““Shásanát tárayet yastu sah shástrah parikiirtita” – i.e., that which leads to permanent liberation is shástra or scripture. Here shásana means discipline. The role of scripture is to lead the human beings towards the Supreme goal through discipline or anushásana…When the sole purpose of scripture, i.e. dharmashástra is to establish the human beings in the stable, exalted position of spiritual ideation, it must be practical, rational, infallible and universal. It must be based on deep eternal truths. It must be áptavákya. A scripture is a guided entity.” (1)

ONE SAMPLE OF ANANDA VANII:

MARCHING AHEAD

“The prehistoric human beings remained involved in group and clan clashes. The present humanity is involved in crude wars for dogmas. Then how far have they advanced? Let the marching ahead towards the supreme desideratum, taking all together, be the only mission for today’s human race, and let the pauseless fight against any and all opposing forces on the way to fulfilment of this mission be the sole fight befitting a human being. Let this very struggle be reckoned as the Supreme Expression.” (2)

WILL NOT SATISFY

Just as fake water and fake food will not quench one’s thirst or satiate their hunger, similarly Fake Ananda Vaniis will not satisfy the dharmic longing of sadhakas nor or properly guide them. Those Fake Ananda Vaniis not lead one towards immortality – rather they will direct one elsewhere.

Greed for Name and Fame

   "Whether one be a philanthropist or a star athlete, one desires to see what is written about them in the newspaper. This means that in trying to do some good work, what are they really doing? They are falling under the sway of one propensity, the propensity of greed. Now if this act is encouraged by the society, that is, if the newspapers dedicate a lot of attention to such news, or if people in general say, “Sir, whatever you are doing is unparalleled in history. Sir, we are not eulogizing you. We are simply telling the truth” – if they praise such a person in this way and then try to extract some money from them (there are such intelligent people around) – then what does it amount to indirectly? The propensity of greed increases. Which animal is the greediest among the animals with which we are all very familiar? It does not like to give up greed in spite of ill treatment and humiliations. It is the cat. Yes, after moving a few steps ahead, the cat forgets that it was beaten. So, that particular person is reborn as a cat after death, because that body affords an opportunity for the satiation of their greed. When the housewife looks around inattentively, the cat sneaks into the kitchen through the small opening in order to reach the milk or fish in the kitchen. So in order to exhaust the samskáras one needs an appropriate body. Some people obtain a new body immediately after death and others obtain it later. But one has to obtain it somehow."
   "One who is doing philanthropic work today, tries to find out tomorrow whether or not their name appeared in the newspaper. They have no desire to read the other news. They read the news that relates to themselves twenty times but do not go through the other news with much enthusiasm. If someone asks they might say that today there was only one important piece of news, nothing else. That is how a person comes under the sway of a propensity and remains subject to the cycle of birth and rebirth." (Ananda Vacanamrtam – 10, 22 April ’79)

"The humans of today are possessed of spirited intellect and accomplished wisdom. They are keen to advance with rapid step shattering the shackles of dogmas. They will no longer be entrapped by the illusion of opportunism. The rays of the crimson dawn of a new humanity on the eastern horizon have started weaving textures of colours on their eyelids and in the subtle recesses of their minds. As for those who have been dreaming of keeping humanity imprisoned by dogmas, their days are numbered; their blissful dreams are being shattered to pieces. Baba's original and true A'nanda Va'niis stand as one of the great traditions of Ananda Marga. This we all know.

Twice annually On New Year's & Ananda Purnima Baba would give a spirited message of a few lines that was entirely new in content, complete in expression, and eternal in nature. In that way, each Ananda Vanii is verily a discourse unto itself. So Baba's original and true Ananda Vaniis are really something unique and incomparable.

However, now in this post 1990 era, certain party leaders have taken it upon themselves to invent and issue Fake Ananda Vaniis for their own interests & political ends. These fake Ananda Vaniis are nothing but their own claim for power and legitimacy.

As Ananda Margiis, as disciples of Baba, we should be strict in adhering to Baba's divine system of Ananda Vaniis and use only those original Ananda Vaniis as our guiding light - not any fake version. Thus on the occasions of New Year's & Ananda Purnima, we should select one of Baba's original Ananda Vaniis. Already, this is what so many units are doing around the globe.

As 2013 is a mere 6 weeks away, we should get organised and prepare ourselves accordingly.

Here below is a general discussion of this topic. This is a vast subject so please write in your thoughts and comments. As disciples of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji we are to be vigilant on this matter as it regards the authenticity and sanctity of His divine teachings.

MORE ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF BABA'S ORIGINAL A'NANDA VA'NIIS

Baba's true Ananda Vanii messages are very precise and pointed like an arrow. They are complete discourses in and of themselves. They are not part of any larger discourse; and they are not just a quote or partial paragraph. Baba's true Ananda Vaniis are 100% full & complete and stand as is. They are unique and new in their own special way.

One of the most recognisable and special attributes of Baba's original Ananda Vaniis is that they infuse prana (positive life-force) into even half-dead persons and give strength and vigor to all sadhakas. Infused with courageous spirit and indomitable nature, Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are 100% unique and stand apart from His other discourses. Only His original and true Ananda Vaniis have that unbridled energy to inspire one and all to move ahead.

History bears testimony that Baba Himself wrote all those Ananda Vaniis in His own handwriting. And He did not just do one like this; but, time after time, for many years Baba continued to write His original Ananda Vaniis with His own hand. All senior margiis are aware about this. In contrast, with other discourses and book chapters, Baba never did like this. Countless discourses He has given and always He was speaking, and devotees were writing. Whereas Ananda Vaniis were written by His hand. This shows the personal and special quality of Ananda Vaniis.

Here is one of His true and eternal Ananda Vaniis.

Baba says, "After millions of animal lives, a created being attains the human form. That is why all the sacred books speak of the rarity of human life. The wise properly utilize all objects and this utilization alone makes the existence of the object worthy. You have achieved the human frame. You must make it meaningful by your sádhaná, service and sacrifice. Engage yourself in such useful pursuits that even your worst enemies have hardly any chance to despise you. Utilize yourself in such a manner so as to satisfy yourself mentally, that you never wasted your time uselessly on this earth." (Ananda Vanii #33)

In all, Baba has blessed us with 74 of these divine guidelines known as Ananda Vaniis. Each with their own inherent beauty; each with their own timeless message. And Baba has Himself specially collected them all together and marked them in His publication: Ananda Vanii Samgraha. These alone stand as those unparalleled and dharmic messages which Baba has so graciously blessed us with during the time of New Year's Day and Ananda Purnima gatherings. These alone are Ananda Vaniis.

 WHAT THE GROUP CAMPS ARE DOING

However, nowadays various Fake A'nanda Vaniis are being created and passed around by the various groups.

Certainly, most margiis and field workers understand that any so-called Ananda Vanii created by one of the factions is a Fake A'nanda Va'nii.

Even then it is important for us to recognise and review how & why these Fake Ananda Vaniis came into existence so that we can eliminate this dogma permanently.

Baba says, "The despondent humanity, in the monumental task of searching for veracity, sees the beacon leading to the path of effulgence. This immense task makes humanity’s existence resplendent and illumines its path of movement with the blazing tenderness of humanism. You are the blessed travellers on that effulgent path. Let the unique blending of your profound wisdom and intense urge for action rend asunder the mists of sinful deeds and smash to dust the jagged rocks of hypocrisy, and establish you in the realm of supreme fulfilment. This is my wish for you on this auspicious New Year’s day." (Ananda Vanii #71)

Prabhat Samgiita Intro: Baba has given the below song as an historical account and for the devotees of Lord Krsna. As Ananda Margiis it is our duty to learn these songs and teach them to the followers of Lord Krsna. In our devotional life we sing those songs which focus on Baba.

"Ka'j kare yete esechi dhara'te, kuruks'etra ei dhara'..." (PS 1307)

Purport:

O' Lord, by Your grace, I have come in this world to do work and serve You; this world is kuruks'etra [1]. O' my Dearmost, with Your divine compassion I have come here to engage in positive work and serve the humanity. Remaining idle and inert, and wasting time in lethargy is not the flow of life. This is not how human beings should live. O' Prabhu, You have blessed me with the energy and motivation to involve in work - to do something for the great cause of dharma. 

O' Lord Krsna, everything You have done with Your cakra [2] and Your bow and arrow. Everyone is aware about Your epic adventures. That immortal tale and everlasting story remains flowing in everyone's memory - in everyone's mental plate.  

O' Prabhu, everyone is moving forward by Your divine pull; there is no scope for anyone to pause or stop. No one can lag behind; all are moving ahead. O' Lord Krsna, that divine story of the Mahabharat led by You Yourself which took place on Kuruksetra is filled with song and has been beautifully written by the great sage, Dvaepa'yan [3].  

O' my Lord, by Your grace I have come on this earth to serve You and work for the welfare of all..


NOTES FOR PRABHAT SAMGIITA #1307:

[1] Kuruks'etra: Everyone knows that the meaning of dharmaks'etra is one's human body whereas kuruks'etra has two meanings. The first meaning of Kuruks'etra is that area of land near Delhi in the state of Haryana where
the Mahabharta battle was fought around 3500 years ago. And the second meaning of Kuruks'etra refers to the grand idea that everyone has come into this world to so some work - because this world is known as kuruks'etra.
Here following is Baba's special explanation.

Baba says, "The real name of this world is kuruks'etra, because it is always telling you Kuru, kuru, kuru - 'Go on working and working and working. Don't sit idle. Don't let your existence fall under a curse due to your indolence. Move towards success through your works.' So the real name of that ks'etra [field] which constantly advises you in this way is kuruks'etra. Kuruks´etra thus stands for the manifested world around us, the sam'sa'ra, where you exist in your physical body, dharmaks'etra." (Discourses on Krsna and the Giita)

Indeed, Baba has graciously given so many discourses on the meaning of Kuruks'etra and by listening to His Prabhat Samgiita people can refresh their mind of the real meaning of Kuruks'etra. Here the overarching idea is that all the various aspects of Baba's expansive AM ideology are present in seed form in His collection of Prabhat Samgiita. Baba has written His Prabhat Samgiita very indirectly and those with a pointed mind understand how each song links with in-depth explanations which He has given in His Ananda Marga philosophical discourses.


[2] Cakra: This term has a variety of meanings and in this song Baba is referring to one of the weapons of Lord Krsna. Because during the Mahabharat battle, there were times when Lord Krsna unveiled His divine cakra.

Here below Baba Himself describes the historic scene in the Mahabharat where the people thought Lord Krsna covered the sun with His cakra so that Arjuna could fufill his great vow of slaying the immoral Jayadrath.

Baba says, "You know what happened at the time of Jayadratha's death. Arjuna, as per his vow, was supposed to go to the funeral pyre immediately after sunset in order to keep his promise. Suddenly people observed that the sun was no longer in the sky and that it had become dark all around. Everyone thought that the sun had already set. Those who were devotees, not philosophers, commented that Lord Krs'n'a had covered the sun with His
Sudarshana Cakra...and people thought that the sun had gone down. Soon Arjuna was able to keep his promise and kill Jayadratha. " (Namami Krsnasundaram, Disc: 24)


[3] Dvaepa'yan: This is another name for the great poet Vedavyasa Deva who recorded the Mahabharat in written form.

Baba says, "Krs'n'advaepa'yan'a Vya'sa is renowned as Vedavya'sa for having divided the Vedas into three main portions (Rk, Yajuh, and Atharva)...He was born in a fisherman's family (Kaevarta [a fishing caste]) on a blackish
island that rose out of the waters of the confluence of the Ganges and the Yamuna at Prayag, and for this reason the people gave him the name Krs'n'advaepa'yan'a. This Krs'n'advaepa'yan'a or Vedavya'sa was the composer of the Mahabharata. The Mahabharata was composed long, long, long after the Vedas, but nonetheless it is undoubtedly more than three thousand years old." (Shabda Cayanika-2, Disc: 11)


Final Note: Baba composed the above Prabhat Samgiita #1307 on 29 Feb 1984 when He Himself was touring through Kuruks'etra, thus giving credence to the idea that indeed the historical account of the Mahabharat is itiha'sa.

Baba says, "I have already told you in many of My Ananda Vanii messages that Parama Purus'a is with you."

"No one today is alone; even the small countries of the world cannot live separately. We will all have to move together in unison - this will be the model for the future."

"You will surely be victorious because you possess that inherent dynamism. I say this with great joy, and I anticipate with greater joy that your dynamism will increase more and more." (Kalikata, 12th November, 1978)

In a loving way Baba assures that He is always with us and reminds us that this divine truth He has stated in His original Ananda Vaniis.

He furthermore guides us that we shall all move together and that victory is ours.

MORE ABOUT ANANDA VANIIS

We all know that Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are unique discourses unto themselves that are not part of any other discourse. Rather Baba would handwrite His Ananda Vaniis and present them twice annually at New Year's DMC & Ananda Purnima, respectively.

These original Ananda Vaniis are timeless teachings that held great relevance when they were issued and for all time to come as well. So it is His original 74 Ananda Vaniis that we are to use at our annual New Year's DMS and Ananda Purnima functions.

== WHO CAN THINK THIS IS A TRUE ANANDA VANII ==

PRESENT AND PAST HISTORY OF FAKE ANANDA VANIIS

One by one we are undoing and getting rid of the dogmas which have hounded our Marga since 1990. Things are most definitely moving in a positive direction. As we all become more ideologicall aware and set Baba's ideal as the gold-bar standard, then naturally dogmas that certain people draggged into the Marga or invented by themselves will be dismantled.

SPECIALITY OF ORIGINAL VANIIS

We all know that the original and true Ananda Vaniis are golden bullets of inspiration that inspire us to move ahead, overcome all obstacles, and lead the humanity into the new crimson dawn. So Baba's Ananda Vaniis are truly unique.

Even then some "leaders" are thinking that they can create their own false versions-- and have come up with a tainted formula for doing so.

IS SIZE THE ONLY FACTOR?

Some may be thinking that:'Because Ananda Vaniis are small, since they are just one or two paragraphs, so therefore to make one new Ananda Vanii, just take one Baba's discourse and select one tiny paragraph out of that. And that will be an "Ananda Vanii".'

A few may be thinking in this above distorted manner.

And indeed if anybody sees superficially then they will say that 'Ok, true Ananda Vaniis are generally one or sometimes two paragraphs. So the ruling group or subgroup did fine by collecting some excerpts or quotations from Baba's long discourses. So on the basis of size, their fake Ananda Vanii is ok.' This is just one misguided outlook.

So some may get confused because the the length of the true Ananda Vaniis and the length of the fake Ananda Vaniis is the same. That is to say, the length of Baba's true Ananda Vaniis are one or two paragraphs, and the random pre-published lines that group leaders select for Fake Ananda Vaniis is one or two paragraphs. And then they stick on the name-- Ananda Vanii-- when in fact what they are sending out is just a Fake Ananda Vanii.

Here the main idea is that on the point of length or the counting of words, certain quotes and true Ananda Vaniis may be similar. But length is not the criteria to evaluate this situation. If you start valuing this by its length, then that will be a foolish approach.

A FEW COLORFUL EXAMPLES

For example, suppose, you chop the trunk of the elephant and you start calling it a horse, who can believe that? Or, suppose you chop from the legs of the camel and then start calling it a cow, just because both are the same size. This type of logic, only babies or crazy people can accept. Not anyone else.

Or take the example of a car. Suppose you remove two wheels from that car, and with the remaining two wheels you proclaim that "This car is now a motorcycle. Because it has only two wheels. As, a motorbike has also two wheels and now this car only two -- so it is now a motorcycle." All this type of reasoning is nonsense.

LENGTH NOT THE ONLY CRITERIA

Surely this approach will be a foolish approach if anybody does the above. Just as having two wheels is not the only criteria of a motorbike, similarly in the true Ananda Vanii, its length is not its only criteria. It has many more things such as orginality, completeness, and so much more which we never find in those Fake Ananda Vaniis which are mere selections from a bigger discourse. Baba designated the true Ananda Vanii as something unique-- as "Ananda Vanii". So, this is unparalleled.

FAKE ANANDA VANII IS BORN

It is known that when Sarvatmanandaji was initially struggling to find out some formula to create his fake Ananda Vaniis, then he finally devised his plan & he called a CC meeting in order to generate group support.

And during the CC meeting they were all were thinking of a solution to continue the tradition of Ananda Vanii. After long discussion, then one great idea was put forth by one of Sarvatmanandji's trusted pawns. He told, "Don't worry. Here is a unique idea to create fake Ananda Vaniis.  Because the length of Ananda Vanii is small, one or two paragraphs. So take Baba's discourse. Select one or two paragraphs. And the length of this new paragraph is the same as that of real Ananda Vaniis. And then just call this new para as 'Ananda Vanii'."

Listening this, all the CC Purodhas clapped and accepted this idea. And since then, this selection of a few paragraphs from Baba's discourses and passing to margiis as a new Ananda Vanii of "Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiiji" of every year, is coming.

And other groups have since adopted this same model of Fake Ananda Vaniis. So now multiple fake Ananda Vaniis are being presented each time. This is the ongoing drama by such group and sub-group leaders.

REALISING IT IS FAKE

Of course now after critical analysis margiis are realizing that (A) Ananda Vaniis and (B) certain quotes of the discourses, are two different things, not one.

1) Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are unique teachings not repeated from earlier discourses;
2) Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are complete unto themselves; they are not part of a greater chapter;
3) Baba's original Ananda Vaniis were a special message both for that'moment as well as for eternal time; only Parama Purusa Himself can give such a teaching;
4) Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are self-contained truths;
5) Baba's original Ananda Vaniis were hand-written Parama Purusa Himself.

In contrast, a quoted passage or an excerpt from a discourse does not fulfill the above stipulations that comprise an Ananda Vanii.

In other words we can say, the current formula to produce fake Ananda Vaniis is similar to these above noted animal examples. Take some discourse and select one or two paragraphs and put the title "Ananda Vanii" and date it '1st January, such-and-such year'. And - "Here it is, ready. New Ananda Vanii". How easy it is.

But those who are rational margiis and WTs, they understand that taking some paragraphs of Baba's discourse is just one quote. Neither it is a full discourse, nor is it as pointed and conclusive as a true Ananda Vanii. So at any cost, Baba's quote cannot be called as "Baba's Ananda Vanii". And they cannot be collected together with the "Ananda Vanii Samgraha" book.

WILL BE REJECTED BY FUTURE ANANDA MARGIIS

Altogether we have 74 true Ananda Vaniis that are of eternal value. It is from this original collective given by Baba Himself that we should select an Ananda Vanii. Baba would handwrite those Ananda Vaniis on a piece of paper. They are totally unique

So we have to think. Carrying dogma is not good. Ultimately it will be thrown out by future Ananda Margiis. Because Baba says, "Dogma no more no more".

Here following is this divine teaching of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. If we follow this, then no problem will remain on our path of forward movement as the Fake Ananda Vaniis and other dogmas will be gone

Baba says, "There are many good people in the society-- noble people engaged in noble deeds-- who are not ready to fight against wrongs and injustices. This sort of passive benevolence does not really promote the cause of human progress in the world." (AV 8, p.51)

BABA'S BLESSING

By Baba's infinite grace and with the strength of many devoted margiis and wts our Marga is going to rise up tall. None should think that our AM will be forever sunk in groupism & dogma. It is sure that soon it will be dharma exemplified.

Baba says, "Under no circumstances should human beings be pessimistic. That is why I am always an incorrigible optimist, because I know that optimism is life." (AFPS-3)

Note 1: CANNOT CREATE FAKE SUPREME COMMAND

Just as we cannot create a Fake Supreme Command from a few paragraphs of His discourses. In the same way, we do not have the right to create some fake Ananda Vaniis.

Note 2: GREATNESS OF TRUE ANANDA VANIIS

True Ananda Vaniis are unparalleled, full of spirit, and they give the clarion call of marching song and victory. So that is the greatness of Ananda Vanii.

Note 3: FIGHTING SPIRIT OF VANIIS

In the real Ananda Vaniis of Baba, He is inspiring strong fighting tendency. To overcome injustice and exploitation in the society. But the so-called Ananda Vaniis since 1991 never deal on this societal point. Or if they do, it is directed towards fighting against the opposite group, when Baba's idea is that we should not fight amongst ourselves, but rather against dogma-- i.e. against dogmas like Fake Ananda Vaniis.

Note 4: SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

We must be alert. We should take it seriously that in the name of Ananda Vanii, certain groupist factions are trying to mislead margiis. To avert and fix the situation of this current Ananda Vanii problem, we have to depend on the real original treasure of true Ananda Vaniis. Such true Ananda Vaniis are the eternal source of our inspiration.

Negative Teacher

Baba says, "Karna's teacher was Parasurama. One day Parasurama and Karna were engaged in a conversation. Parasurama for some reason or other was tired, and he fell asleep, laying his head on Karna's lap. At that moment a deadly insect gave a sharp bite to Karna's thigh, and it started bleeding profusely. Karna was in great pain, no doubt, but he neither made any sound nor moved his legs even in the slightest, lest it should disturb the sleep of his guru...Later, when Parasurama woke up, he wanted to know why there was so much blood. Karna said, 'This bleeding is due to the biting of a deadly insect on my thigh.' Parasurama asked him, 'Then why didn't you make any sound, or move your legs, or even wake me up ?' Karna said in reply 'I didn't do all those things because it would have disturbed your sleep. To disturb my guru's sleep would be a sacrilege on my part. Hence I refrained from doing anything like that.' Then Parasurama said to him, 'Since you have so much power to endure pain, certainly you were not born in a vipra family.' Parasurama was under the mistaken impression that Karna was a vipra by birth...'So you must have been born in a Non-Brahmin Family' said Parasurama." (MHB, p.62-3)


Note 1: In the above teaching it is clear that the teaching of Parasurama was inappropriate and sinful. Because he was selecting his students on the basis of caste. A proper teacher never commits such sin. On this silly ground, Parasurama cursed Karna and kicked him out from the ashram.

Note 2: Similar sinful things are going on in our present AM society. If any WT is not an ardent follower of a particular group then they will not get kapalik sadhana or vishesh yoga from those groupist leaders. Such "leaders" who are depriving others of their spiritual rights are sinners.

O' Unknown Entity [1], who are You who has come with the grand flow of effulgence and the golden radiance of the Divine world and given me inspiration.

You know my entire past, and You plan my entire future. You know all about me. You understand all my mental thoughts, but I know nothing about me [2].

Whatever I do, I do for You [3]. With Your grace I remember only You [4]. O' my Lord, when will You come within my reach. You know, but I do not know... [5]

END NOTES FOR PRABHAT SAMGIITA #1115:

[1] Unknown Entity: Here the devotee is talking with Parama Purusa and calling Him unknown because the bhakta thinks that, "Yes, I know Parama Purusa, but I do not know Him completely." For this reason, the bhakta is addressing Him as "unknown." When one knows Him 100% then that sadhaka actually becomes one with Him. Then one's unit identity is no more. So long as one has their own individual unit consciousness, then one cannot claim that they know Parama Purusa completely. In that case, to some or more degree, He remains "unknown."

[2] I know nothing about me (a'mi ta'r kichu bujhi na'): People generally think they know everything about themselves; but, in fact, there is much they do not know. A person cannot remember what they ate for lunch 10 days ago or what they were thinking in a particular place at a particular time. People cannot recall all their dreams or life experiences of this life, let alone events from past lives. Nor are they aware about what will occur in the future. That is why in a poetic way we can say, "I do not know anything myself." Why? Because in truth people are hardly aware about themselves. Yet Parama Purusa knows everything. That is why Baba would constantly remind sadhakas about what they were doing and thinking at particular times in their life. In comparison to His knowledge about us, we do not know anything about ourselves.

[3] Whatever I do, I do for You (yata ka'ja kari tava kari) : This is the expression of devotion. In the worldly sphere, people commonly do everything for their own self-satisfaction and ego. This is what we see happening most of the time. People eat, drink, work, play, shop, and interact for their own unit gain and pleasure. This is the way most ordinary humans behave. And to be honest, animals also follow this pathway; they do for their own self.

Those who are bad people are motivated by self-interest but by their actions they inflict harm on others. For this reason they are worse than ordinary humans and worse than animals as well.

Elevated beings, i.e. devotees, do each and everything to please Parama Purusa, not for self-interest. True Ananda Margiis do not even want to even harm their enemies. Rather the aim is to rectify wrongdoers and not take vengeance against them. That too is a service to Parama Purusa because those depraved people are also expressions of Him.

Here the whole ideas is that only bhaktas are motivated by the aim of serving and pleasing Parama Purusa. Ordinary and crude people cannot think in this way - nor can animals.

[4] By Your grace, I only remember You (toma'ya krpa'ya tomarei sma'ri): When people read Baba's books and Ananda Marga philosophy, or get inspired by attending a retreat etc, then they think, "I should remember always remember Him and repeat my ista mantra all the time." Indeed people get all kinds of good ideas. But how easily they forget those good ideas as well. Their inner desire is to remember Him and always do mantra japa, but the next moment, hour or day they forget. That is why it is said that His grace is needed in order to remember Him all the time. Without His grace no one can get success in this endeavour.

[5] Overall Theme Song:

In the first stanza, the central idea is that when Parama Purusa comes in the life then He gives tremendous inspiration. Any and all feelings of frustration, depression, and dejection automatically slip away. When Parama Purusa comes in life then everything becomes blissful. One's days become full of exuberance and inspiration.

The second and third stanzas of this song represent the feeling of prapatti vada, or surrender theory. Parama Purusa is controlling everything while the bhakta merely surrenders to His sweet will. Parama Purusa knows and manages everything. What He plans, that happens.

So the sadhaka thinks: "I should work according to the energy He has instilled within me. Whatever I do for the betterment of society is His work. With his energy I am completing my allotted tasks. The ultimate doer is He. My duty is to do sadhana and totally depend on Parama Purusa. It is up to Him when I reach the Goal. He will certainly be gracious."

This is the high degree of surrender expressed in this song.

Here the main idea is that the sadhaka is doing sadhana with deep longing of getting Him but ultimately it all depends on the grace of Parama Purusa. Without His grace, nothing happens. When He showers His grace then people gain realisation, otherwise not. That is why it is said, "Guru krpa hi kevalam" and "Brahma krpa hi kevalam", i.e the grace of Guru / Brahma is everything. Only Parama Purusa knows when the bhakta will reach the Goal. One must surrender to His will and follow His teachings; all the rest is up to Him.

== WHO MAKES FAKE ANANDA VANIIS ==

This entire letter is about the situation regarding our A'nanda Va'niis

Because on this upcoming New Year's Day of Jan 1, 2012, one or more of the leading factions will fabricate and distribute their own fake Ananda Vanii. And this is one dogma which should not be allowed to continue in our Marga. Only Baba's original teachings are part of our AM shastra, not any groupist ploys such as the Fake Ananda Vaniis.

The New Year's DMS is just four weeks away - all should vigorously engage in ensuring the name and manner of Baba's original Ananda Vaniis remain true by objecting to all such Fake Ananda Vaniis.

WE ALL KNOW THAT...

Baba has graced us with a full and complete collection ofA'nanda Va'niis. Just as His teachings of A'nanda Sutram are complete, similarly His collection of A'nanda Va'nii is perfect unto itself. No more need be added in the post 1990 era -- rather that would taint the collection.

So the tragedy is that since 1991 various groupist opportunists in Centre and certain factional leaders have injected their own Fake A'nanda Va'niis onto the scene. Obviously no real margii can accept these in their heart; that much is sure.

For everyone's awareness here following is a little look at the psychological & mental make-up of those who are making these Fake Ananda Vaniis. And thereafter we will review the dharmic qualities of Baba's authentic Ananda Vaniis.

THREE TYPES OF DISCIPLES

We all know that there are three types of disciples. And now we are going to see which type of disciple will abide by Baba's teachings and protect the integrity of His Ananda Vaniis, as well as which type of disciple goes against the Guru by creating their own Fake Ananda Vaniis.

"A grade" disciples, learn all the things while they live at the lotus feet of Guru they . And when those "A Grade" disciples go away from the physical satsaunga of the Guru, then they keep all those teachings which they learned in their heart and they follow and propagate them accordingly. Such disciples maintain the integrity of Baba's Ananda Vaniis.

Grade B Disciples learn some of the things from the Guru and when they leave His presence they may or may not follow those teachings, but they will not propagate anything that goes against Guru's instructions.

Whereas those who are "C grade" disciples, for them the situation is entirely different. When they sit at the lotus feet of Guru, it appears as though those "C grade" disciples understand and are following whatever Guru tells. But when they go away from the company of the Guru then they leave all those things behind. Means they leave empty-handed; whatever Guru has taught them gets washed away from their mind. So such C-Grade disciples do not follow Guru's teachings rather; they do something opposite. Such persons invent their own Fake Ananda Vaniis and distribute them around the globe.

This very type of phenomenon Baba has fully discussed in various discourses.

GRADE "C" DISCIPLES: NO SHORTAGE

SEE WHAT THEY DO

There is no scarcity of examples of such C grade disciples. We have seen them in our life and we will see them in future also. About such C grade disciples, when they were physically close with Guru it looked like they are A grade & neo-humanistic. But now their color has been exposed; their true color came and they forgot all those things what our Guru taught. Instead, groupism is rampant; and factionalism, lingualism, and so many isms are raising their ugly head and spreading poison all around-- thus polluting the entire margii society.

They want to capture even simple margiis and tie them up in the serpentine noose of groupism. Only almighty Baba is saving the situation.

Furthermore such C grade disciples ruin the Prabhat Samgiita by putting various filmy dancers and female heroines' pictures on His divine Prabhat Samgiita cassette covers. Indeed such C grade disciples have made so many nuisances. They created dogmatic tiirthas and holy lands, memorial, and dogma after dogma. Not only that, they are seriously involved in curtailing margiis' rights.

Plus we will see in future how they will collect certain shlokas from Baba's various books like Shabda Cayanika, A Few Problems Solved, Prout, and Namah Shivaya Shantaya etc, and issue those things as Ananda Sutram. And this they will do in the interest of their own faction or group.

The above are all the tainted works of C Grade disciples. Plus these lowly disciples also invent Fake Ananda Vaniis.

FAKE ANANDA VANII: GROUPISTS AND SUB-GROUPISTS AT WORK

In the case of fake Ananda Vaniis groupist people are collecting various quotes in the favour of their group interest and wrongly labeling them as Ananda Vaniis. This we have seen since 1991.

BABA'S TRUE ANANDA VANIIS ARE COMPLETE

But those who are A grade disciples, they know that Baba's each and every thing is unique in its own way. Thus for us as human beings who have comparatively very little capacity, how much can one understand about Guru's greatness. So what right do we have to manipulate His writings and teachings. Because He Himself specially designated a select number of His teachings as Ananda Vaniis. He Himself has made His Ananda Vaniis as one bright sparkling entity like a shiny star. Then we do not have right to interchange those them. Means some teachings He has given as Ananda Sutram, some as Prout, and some as Shabda Cayanika etc. So true disciples will respect and abide by Guru's instructions. And only lesser or fake disciples will mix those things according to their own selfish convenience.

ANANDA VANIIS: HAND-WRITTEN BY BABA HIMSELF

Here is another point. History bears this testimony that Baba himself wrote all those Ananda Vaniis in His own handwriting. And he did not do just one like this; but time after time for many years Baba continued to write those Ananda Vaniis with His own hand. All senior margiis are aware about those things. But in the case of discourses, Baba never did like this. Countless discourse He has given and always He was speaking and devotees were writing. Whereas Ananda Vaniis are relatively few in number and written by hand. So discourses are discourses and Ananda Vaniis are Ananda Vaniis. Each have their own specialty and distinction.

So there is not only 1 reason but so many reasons that make Ananda Vaniis as something unique unto themselves. Any sincere devotee will certainly not ruin or manipulate them. But about the present situation here are some more facts.

GURU IS BRAHMA & BRAHMA IS GURU

Our Guru is Brahma Himself-- an ordinary human being. His teachings should be taken seriously. This is one of the major characteristics of the proper disciple. Means what Guru says, we should follow. And in due course of time you will understand that what Baba says, that is truth, meaningful. So we should see what is the validity of the so-called Ananda Vaniis on this very point. That will make it more clear.

ANANDA VANIIS ARE FULL DISCOURSES

There are many points to say, but here is the central point. The true Ananda Vanii which is given by Baba, is complete in itself. It is a full discourse.

For example, this following true Ananda Vanii is just a couple of lines.

BABA says, "Struggle against evil forces is life. We have to remember this fact once again on this threshold of a happy New Year." -Ananda Vanii #9 So the above Ananda Vanii is one entire and complete discourse which was given on 1 January 1959. And it has eternal value; it is timeless.

Hence it cannot be altered, nor can its title be changed. And you will not find these above two lines, in any of the discourses. You will not get it anywhere. Because, this true Ananda Vanii given by BABA is complete unto itself. Nowhere you will find it in Baba's other discourses.

So the whole message here is that true Ananda Vaniis are not the part of any discourse. They are a discourse unto themselves.

And Baba titled such types of discourses as "Ananda Vaniis". So we cannot call Ananda Vaniis as any other thing. They are full and complete discourses- per Baba's design.

So when Baba has named Ananda Vaniis as individual discourses, as true disciples our duty is to accept that. In contrast, if anybody thinks that they can make and fabricate their own Ananda Vaniis and haphasardly grabbing parts of other discourses, then such infamous characters are C grade disciples, or worse.

The sole point is that when Baba has beautifully named these as "Ananda Vanii", then we should accept that and keep it as it is. We should respect Baba's view and guideline and no C grade disciple should create their own Fake Ananda Vanii.

Baba's style of discourse has its own importance. Usually discourses are fairly long explanations on certain subjects. In contrast, the "Ananda Vanii" collection has a different aim and charm. It is short and striking like an arrow. It is one discourse unto itself. It is not the part of any discourse.

EVERY TEACHING HAS ITS OWN BEAUTY

In true course, each and every thing which Baba has given, has its own inherent charm, beauty, and attraction. Its own uniqueness. Just like, some of Baba's poetry is available in children's stories also. And He named it as children's stories. That will be a blunder if we will include those things in Prabhat Samgiita. And thereby try to increase the number of Prabhat Samgiita from 5018 to something more than that. Indeed that would not be good.

Likewise, we know that each and every literature like Namah Shivaya Shantaya, Namami Krsna Sundaram, Ananda Vacanamrtam, etc, it has its own beauty and importance. We do not have the right to alter it. Some ignorant persons, those who do not understand, if they are trying to ruin something, then we should try to correct them.

The point at hand of course is clear: that the fake Ananda Vaniis which Centre is issuing is not Ananda Vanii. Rather they are a quote, a section of a pre-existing discourse. But those in Centre have painted such quotes of various discourses as "Ananda Vanii". This is the manipulation that is going on and has been going on since 1991 in the name of Ananda Vanii.

NOT EVERY QUOTE CAN BE CALLED AS ANANDA VANII

One related point is when one well known Didi collected hundreds of quotes from Baba's books, and she printed them as "Light Comes". As a very small pocket book type. And I was in that reporting session where Baba supported that work.

But can you imagine if that Didi foolishly would have given the name of that "Light Comes" pocket book as "Ananda Vanii Collection". That means the "Light Comes" book would have been projected as "Collection of Ananda Vaniis", then what would have been the situation?

So when Centre and various sub-groups are issuing a few paragraphs according to their choice, if we call it as "Ananda Vanii" -- if this very approach of Centre is accepted, then why not the book "Light Comes" should be treated as "Collection of Ananda Vanii". Why not? So the question is serious. But those who are dogmatic, they don't like to think on this very point.

Perhaps because of lack of devotional heart, such people do not understand that as a devotee, our duty is to keep Guru's things intact. We should not allow anybody-- like C Grade disciples-- to ruin it.

BABA'S DHARMIC GUIDELINE

We should take guideline from this following Baba's teaching.

BABA says, "The characteristic of good people is to fight against injustice, to firmly adhere to truth and righteousness, to protect the helpless and fight against all evil persons.  Those who are merely simple and are of a meek and goody-goody nature are not good people." (A Few Problems Solved part 5, p.28)

So we should all stand firm and uphold the ideal that Baba's teachings should not be misrepresented. So Ananda Vaniis and quotes are two different things. They cannot be interchanged.

Namaskar,
We all know that since 1990, we have been living in an era when those at the helm issue their own fake Ananda Vaniis.

Over the years, much has been written about why these so-called vaniis are fake - and some of those points will be appended below.

What has not been talked about much is why our respected Dadas did like this. What propelled them into thinking they should create these Fake Ananda Vaniis. What are the historical forces at play?


                                     HISTORICAL CONTEXT  

After 1990, there was a major vacuum of power in the organisation. Someone was bound fill the void.

Of course we all know which Dada held the reins in those early days immediately after Oct 1990. We need not mention his name here. Rather we should be aware that he and every leader since has followed in this "tradition" of creating Fake Ananda Vaniis.

We should understand what started this trend as well as why it has been continued up till this very moment.


                                              POWER TRIP

Please excuse me but the first and foremost reason why a few of our Purodha Dadas issued Fake Ananda Vaniis was power. Unfortunately, such Dadas harbored an intense urge to capture, maintain, and expand their rulership. They had to demonstrate that they deserved to be in that seat. Perhaps the best way to protect their power was to exercise it. They felt the need to flex their muscles.

To that end they did so many things:
1. Invented the dogmatic salute to PP Dada as if PP is Baba Himself;
2. Changed Caryacarya to include the dogmatic Mahaprayan program;
3. Manipulated countless bhukti pradhan elections;
4. Curtailed margii rights;
5. Victimised and expelled any and all who opposed them;
6. And so many more things they did, including issue Fake Ananda Vaniis.

Indeed creating Fake Ananda Vaniis complements their overall agenda of demonstrating their power and justifying their hold of the top chair.

First and foremost our respected Dadas thought: "I have power so I must use it, lest I lose it."

This negative mentality gave birth to the notion of creating and making Fake Ananda Vaniis.


                                    ULTERIOR MOTIVE AT WORK

Once they came up with this notion that by (mis)using their new found power then they will best be able to keep it, they went one step further. And this is reflected in their creation of Fake Ananda Vaniis. They did not just create Fake Ananda Vaniis; they created Fake Ananda Vaniis with their own ulterior motive in mind.

Basically here we have a two-step process:
1) Such Dadas made these Fake Ananda Vaniis as a means of exercising their power on the throne.
2) They thought that they should "flavour" or "spice" these Fake Ananda Vaniis with their own selfish agenda. They had an ulterior motive in mind.

They promptly then began making Fake Ananda Vaniis that suited their political interest and whim.

For instance, while Baba's dharmic and original Ananda Vaniis are filled with spiritedness, courage, and the idea of actively fighting exploitation, in contrast the Fake Ananda Vaniis invented our respected Dadas aimed to make margiis passive - even indolent. Such leaders critically withdrew all the pra'na (i.e. life-force and fighting power) when making their Fake Ananda Vaniis.

But don't just take my word for it - see for yourself.

Here are but a few examples of Baba's dharmic expression in His original Ananda Vaniis:
(a) "...Inspire those who are liars and criminals to live honest lives by pointing out their defects..." - Ananda Vanii #8
(b) "...Yours should be a pauseless struggle against corruption, hypocrisy and animality." - Ananda Vanii #11
(c) "...Live for your ideology Die for your Ideology." - Ananda Vanii #14

Now compare that with the Fake Ananda Vaniis that our purodhas have made:
(a) "everything is to undergo changes and you should be ready to adapt yourself, to adjust yourself with those changed phases." (Fake Ananda Vanii January 2005)
(b) And like that over the years - & even in 2011 - so many of the Fake Ananda Vaniis satisfy their own group interest of pacifying margiis and / or blindly supporting their group.

Here the point is that Baba's Ananda Vaniis are based on truth and righteousness whereas the groupist Fake Ananda Vaniis played into their own personal agenda.

So when the various Dadas come into power they create Fake Vaniis to meet their own ends. As sad as it may seem, in His below teaching, Baba best describes this nasty trend.

Baba says, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." (Ananda Vacanamrtam, part 33, Yatamána, Vyatireka, Ekendriya and Vashiikára)


                                            THEIR BOGUS LOGIC:

                          BABA'S ANANDA VANIIS ARE OUTDATED

Of course, our Dadas could not tell the world that they were making Fake Ananda Vaniis as a means to express their dominance. That would not be received well.

So they opted to hide their real motive behind the creation of Fake Ananda Vaniis; and they instead created their own logic which they would share publicly. And this is what they said.

Some of our senior Dadas told that Baba's original Ananda Vaniis were old and outdated like a last week's or last year's newspaper. This was their false justification.

They further told that Baba gave those Ananda Vaniis on that particular day for those people present - as if Baba's Ananda Vaniis had no long-term value. Their basic message was that Baba's teachings in those Ananda Vaniis were no longer relevant. Hence we have to create fresh and new Ananda Vaniis.

This is the false and bogus logic which those inventors of the Fake Ananda Vaniis gave. And again their baseline message was that Baba's Ananda Vaniis are outdated.


                                   BABA'S TEACHINGS ARE ETERNAL

                              INCLUDING HIS ANANDA VANIIS

Here is the reply to such Dadas who claim that Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are no longer relevant to today's world.

All Baba's teaching were given on a particular day and date. But those teachings are not limited to that particular period. His spiritual guidelines never get old - they never lose their value.

Baba says, "The books in Ananda Marga philosophy are all absolute knowledge. The proper mark of identity of absolute knowledge is that it must be universal, rational and psychological." (APH-4, Prápta Vákya and Ápta Vákya)

And indeed Baba's Ananda Vaniis are His spiritual guidelines that appear in book form.

Let's take a closer look:

On 1 January 1976, Baba delivered Ananda Vanii #44:

Baba says, "Be firm on sixteen points. Unite all the righteous forces. All the tall talks of the evil forces will be silenced." (Ananda Vanii #44)

According to some Purodhas, the above original and true Ananda Vanii given by Baba is now irrelevant. That is their justification for creating Fake Ananda Vaniis. But this could be nothing further from the truth.

Baba's original and true Ananda Vaniis were relevant for that very day as well as far into the future as well. Baba's Ananda Vaniis are timeless. Right now, the way to bring about dharma and silence the evil forces is to follow 16 Points strictly. That was true on 1 January 1976 and it is true today, 35 years later. And that same Ananda Vanii will remain true and relevant in 100 years and beyond.

That is why Baba's Ananda Vaniis are timeless and meant to be used again and again. Indeed He has blessed us by giving His collection of original Ananda Vaniis that address all kinds of circumstances and situations yet also hold eternal value. This is the special quality of the Ananda Vaniis. It is not that those Ananda Vaniis were only meant for that day or for those people in attendance. Those Ananda Vaniis are not like old newspapers. Rather Baba's Ananda Vaniis are 100% dharmic that are relevant across time, space and person.

Here is another of His original Ananda Vaniis.

Baba says, "It is action that makes a person great. Be great by your sádhaná, by your service, by your sacrifice." (1 January 1964, Ananda Vanii #20)

This Ananda Vanii is also pure and blemishless and not at all affected by the passage of time. There is no need for groupists to create Fake Ananda Vaniis. Already Baba has given a wonderful collection of 74 original Ananda Vaniis that are as perfect and relevant today as they were on the day they were originally given.

So the notion that certain Dadas needed to create Fake Ananda Vaniis because Baba's Ananda Vaniis are old and outdated is totally bogus.


                                MORE ABOUT THEIR BOGUS LOGIC

Indeed if we accept the bogus logic that Baba's Ananda Vaniis are old and outdated because they were delivered on a particular date for a certain limited audience, then we have to accept that logic for all of Baba's teachings: yama and niyama, neo-humanism, Prout, microvita, Prabhat Samgiita, Ananda Sutram, kiirtan, samadhi, etc. All those topics should also be tossed aside too. After all, they were also given on a particular date to a select group of attendees.

Of course no rational Ananda Margii will agree to this. Because we know that all Baba's teachings are timeless, including His original Ananda Vaniis.

On every topic which Baba addressed, He is speaking for the whole future of humanity, not just for a certain group at a particular juncture of time. Baba is speaking for all that is why He would insist that His talks be recorded, printed and published. Why? Because He was giving timeless teachings for the entire humanity.

So those who give the bogus logic that Baba's Ananda Vaniis are outdated are totally off-base. This is just their false manner to wield more power.


                            ONE OTHER NEGATIVE REPERCUSSION

Another harmful outcome of the Fake Ananda Vaniis is that those born or entering the Marga after 1990 will only be exposed to such Fake Vaniis. Their whole life will pass surrounded by these groupist fabrications and they will not even know that Baba has created a vast and remarkable collection of original Ananda Vaniis. They will miss out on this entirely.

Yet Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are not only timeless but they are highly applicable to a whole range of situations and circumstances. Baba was able to uniquely deliver a message that was addressed a particular topic or theme in a timeless manner.

That is why we can really say that Baba's collection of original Ananda Vaniis will never become old. They will never be like yesterday's newspaper. They will always provide a fresh, dharmic and vibrant message - relevant to all kinds of events and human advancement.

So it is a real shame that some are filling this earth with their Fake Ananda Vaniis. We should not allow this to happen a moment longer.


                                            BABA'S BLESSING

By Baba's grace He has endowed us with a great collection of original and true Ananda Vaniis that provide the whole humanity with a set of timeless teachings. We must not allow anyone to push Baba's Vaniis aside as they invent Fake Ananda Vaniis.

Fueled by their own self-interest and lust for power, some Dada have created their own logic for why Baba's vaniis should not be used. No rational margii will be duped by their false justifications.

Now we all know that Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are perfect and true across time, space and person. These are the Ananda Vaniis we are to use - again and again - and their value is eternal.

Baba says, "What comes from Parama Puruśa is ápta vákya...As devotees, you should follow only ápta vákya. You should remember that the Sixteen Points are your ápta vákya..By the Grace of, by the compassion of Parama Puruśa, you have received the ápta vákya guidelines, and it is your duty to adhere strictly to the teachings and gospel of ápta vákya." (Ananda Vacanamrtam, part 2, The Excellence of a Bhakta)

Note 1:     DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FAKE AND ORIGINAL ANANDA VANII

In review, Baba's true Ananda Vanii messages-- which He has given twice annually on New Year's Day and on Ananda Purnima-- are very precise and pointed like an arrow. They are complete discourses in and of themselves. They are not part of any larger discourse and they are not just a quote or partial paragraph. Instead, Baba's true Ananda Vaniis are 100% full & complete and stand as is. Plus they are unique and new in their own special way-- never a repeat of previously released material.

In contrast, the Fake Ananda Vaniis are just a quotes selected by groupists from a previously released discourse. To understand that quote one must read the entire discourse. That quote is not meant to stand alone. To read just that quote is misleading and ambiguous. That is why those are Faike Ananda Vaniis.

Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are complete and unique unto themselves. They are pointed, timeless discourses that have universal application across time, space and person.


                                               PRABHAT SAMGIITA

"Jhainjha' jadi a'se jujhite shakati dio..." (P.S. #1783)

 Baba, You are my Saviour. If in my life a hurricane or typhoon comes, then You please provide me the strength to fight and face that negative situation. And give me the strength to struggle and persevere.
 Baba, if ever in my life lethargy and frustration comes, then please provide me strength to hold onto Your feet. And to go on moving on Your path.  Baba, by Your grace I am treading on Your path. You please color my mind with Your color in all situations. During both pleasure and pain.   
   With Your divine grace, if my mind becomes radiant then it cannot be covered by staticity during times of cimmerian darkness. Please grant me strength to follow Your dictates.  
   Baba, please grace me and give me the force to go on marching on the path of effulgence, in an undaunted way moving ahead. And please give me strength by Your grace, to jump up and take on ever-new tasks to serve the downtrodden people.   
   And please bless me by Your Varabhaya mudra. So in my life, I never feel fear or cowardice to fight against demonic forces. Baba, in all the circumstances I am completely depending on Your grace. Without Your grace, nothing is possible...

                     Who is blessed one?

Baba says, "The man who is intelligent should, from his very childhood,
move along the path of proto-spirituality. The sooner a man starts and
moves along this path of psycho-spirituality, the better it is. He is the
blessed one." (AV-12, p.75)

Note: With the start of this happy new year we should once again reflect
how Baba has graced us by providing us all the tools and teachings for
moving along the path of spirituality. So again with renewed vigor we
should be more firm and more sincere in our adherence to Sixteen Points.

The Value of Purports

Note: With Ananda Purnima approaching (May 17) the various groups are readying to  release their Fake Ananda Vaniis. Yet we all know only Baba's original Ananda Vaniis should be used for such occasions. All should be alert about this.

Namaskar,
Of all Baba's divine teachings, Ananda Vaniis are some of the most rare.
His discourses number in the thousands; His talks on dharma number in the
hundreds; even His sutras of Ananda Sutram top the century mark being 125
in total. However in this universe there are only 74 original and true
Ananda Vaniis. So they are something quite unique-- yet also a bit overlooked.

Here below are some important points about the great significance of Ananda
Vaniis. And in particular why we should be vigilant to get the purports of
these magnificent and eternal guidelines.

This letter investigates why the various groups must stop creating their fake Ananda Vaniis.


                   ANANDA VANIIS HAVE PURPORTS

All along it has been the standard practice for Baba's discourses to be
translated into as many languages as possible-- but never was further
explanation given about a particular discourse by Baba Himself. Classes may
have been offered later on by this or that acarya, but Baba never would
deliver a discourse and then directly afterwards give further explanation
about that very discourse. This was not done. Reason being that His
discourses are already explanatory in nature and contain numerous stories,
analogies, and descriptions in order to make the matter perfectly clear and
understandable.

In contrast, with His Ananda Vaniis the case is totally different. They are
pointed, distilled teachings given in concentrated form-- hence they demand
further elaboration and explanation. For this reason Baba Himself was
delivering purports for His Ananda Vaniis during DMC itself.

As many are aware, Baba's Ananda Vaniis are only a few lines in length and
Baba Himself would write it down in His own handwriting. And then that very
Vanii was read aloud at DMC in all the languages. Directly afterwards Baba
Himself would give a line by line explanation of the Ananda Vanii. This
would happen for half-an-hour or more. So you can imagine how much He used
to say. So He Himself would give the initial explanation and thereafter
others were invited to speak and share their understanding of the Vanii--
and during that period Baba would often interject in order to lovingly
guide the Margii speaker.

But always the system was that first the Vanii would be read in the
various languages; second Baba would provide His own explanation or
purport; and then others were also called up to comment and say something.
This was the regular pattern.

All done in this fashion because Baba's Ananda Vaniis are so dense and
intensely concise.

Altogether His Ananda Vaniis are similar to the Samgacchadhvam mantra, Guru
Puja, etc in that a discourse is needed to provide the meaning of the
mantra. Likewise Baba was giving extended purports of His Ananda Vaniis to
provide further insight about their meaning.

So by this way we can understand that Baba's original and true Ananda
Vaniis are very concentrated and very pointed. Treating them as ordinary
discourses is not at alll appropriate since Baba used to give explanations
or purports for those very Ananda Vaniis.


       ALSO SIMILAR TO PRABHATA SAMGIITA & ANANDA SUTRAM

In addition, Baba's Ananda Vaniis are similar to the case of Prabhat Samgiita
and Ananda Sutram in that Baba has given purports for each of these three
genres. Baba's original Ananda Vaniis are about inspiration and moving
ahead whereas Prabhat Samgiita comes within the scope of aesthetic &
supra-aesthetic science and Ananda Sutram is our philosophical treatise.

But all three are similar in that they all fall in the same unique
category-- as they all demand further explanation such that Baba Himself
has given purports for all these three teachings.


                    FAKE ANNADA VANII

In contrast this quality or concentrated approach is not present in the
quotes of His regular discourses. Hence when groupist leaders take a few
lines from one of the standard discourses and falsely present that as an
Ananda Vanii then that is terribly degrading. Rather that is nothing but a
Fake Ananda Vanii. And those doing this are culprits since they are
degrading the real status of Baba's true Ananda Vaniis.

More about this is written further below.


                    ALTERATION & DISTORTION

As we all know, Baba has given a title for all His discourses discourse.
Thus extracting lines from a particular discourse and retitling those
lines as Ananda Vanii is totally wrong. This is all non-sense as one
cannot give a quote as Ananda Vanii. Because Ananda Vanii's are in a
totally different league. Calling such quotes as Ananda Vaniis is
  violatingBaba's system-- and against Baba's desire.


                          CONCLUSION

Baba is Parama Purusa and all He has given is apta vakya-- eternal truth,
so why should some things be discarded or marked as being outdated or be
replaced by something entirely Fake. Rather we should celebrate the dharmic
quality and everlasting value of Baba's original Ananda Vanii.

                                                          
                         BABA'S BLESSING

Baba says, "If you think that you are the child of Parama Purusa and have
come to this world to accomplish the job assigned by Parama Purusa, that
you are never alone and that you are a small baby always sitting on the lap
of Parama Purusa, why should you be afraid of anything? There is no reason
to be afraid of anything." (PNS-7, p.63)

NOTE 1:                VERY CONCENTRATED TEACHING

With Baba's original and true Ananda Vaniis it is important to read
them several times in order to get the full meaning and value. Because they
are concentrated teachings of pure dharma. In contrast the present day fake
Ananda Vaniis are quite different. They are from an existing discourse and not
meant to stand alone. To understand those lines one must read the full discourse.
Whereas Baba's true and original Ananda Vaniis are special messages that
are different from His teachings in the discourses. The main thing being
that they are very dense and full of unseen wisdom. That is why without proper
explanation many may not properly understand Baba's true Ananda Vaniis.


NOTE 2:   MAKING THE ANANDA VANII PURPORTS AVAILABLE TO MARGIIS

All know that Baba has given purports for Ananda Sutram & Prabhat
Samgiita-- as those purports have made it into book form. But nowadays the
purports of Ananda Vaniis are not at all being recognised. Some got
recorded and some not. But none are being recognised or referred to. When
surely many years worth of Baba's purports of Ananda Vaniis were recorded
and heard by one and all in the DMC pandal itself. So these explanations
should be accepted as discourses. A call then must be put forth to recover
and print those pristine purports which Baba has given for Ananda Vaniis.


NOTE 3:      ANANDA VANIIS ARE OF ETERNAL VALUE

As Ananda Margiis, we know that Baba has always utilized each and every day
to bestow upon us innumerable new teachings and countless special
guidelines. Often that has come in the form of a discourse or Prabhat
Samgiita or field walk etc. In that way each and every discourse or Prabhat
Samgiita song is dated and marked where it has been given.

Of course, though, every bhakta clearly understands that the given
discourse or Prabhat Samgiita song has eternal and permanent value. No one
thinks that the discourse was only useful on that particular day when it
was given and that thereafter it has no relevance. None think in this manner.

Rather we all consider that the discourse which Baba has given is a
universal teaching that transcends time, space, and person-- and that the
attached date is for record purposes only. In that way all Baba's divine
teachings can be organised in chronological fashion yet retain their own
original integrity timeless quality.

Hence the matter is straightforward & clear.

Unfortunately, though, Baba's original and true Ananda Vaniis are not
getting treated in that same dharmic fashion. Because although Ananda
Vaniis are eternal in nature and universal in application, some persons are
limiting the relevance of a  given Ananda Vanii to a particular date and
year. They think that every Ananda Vanii is of January 1 of such-&-such
year or of Ananda Purnima of such-and-such year and that now it is
outdated. This is their misguided outlook.

So in that way Baba's divine and timeless Ananda Vaniis are not getting
their duly deserved eternal status.

Yet just as Ananda Sutram is of a universal and timeless value, same is
that case with our Ananda Vaniis. They can be referred to and studied again
and again just like various sutras, but this is not being done.

Means Ananda Vaniis are not respected as being an eternal guidelines;
rather some off the mark people wrongly consider Ananda Vaniis to be
limited to a particular time and place.

Yet just as the sutras of Ananda Sutram are treated as key points of AM
philosophy, in the same way all the inspirational guidelines which Baba has
given as Ananda Vaniis deserve that same sanctified status. But instead
they are often treated as or reduced to something temporary or passing. As
if the Vanii of 1st January 1961 no longer applies to today's world and
that that Vanii itself is just a point of history-- nothing more. When true
devotees know that all Baba's Ananda Vaniis are eternal guidelines,
applicable to numerous situations.

So that injustice has been done to our Ananda Vaniis.

Overall then we must work to restore the proper sanctity and reverence of
Ananda Vanii. Nobody tries to relegate Prabhat Samgiita or Baba's
discourses to a specific place or person or date-- thinking that they are
antiquated.

Similarly we cannot allow certain groupist to state / blame that Baba's
original Ananda Vaniis have gotten old like  one outdated crusty newspaper.
But some are doing like that-- so that should be corrected.

Baba's original and true Ananda Vaniis are times and should be contemplated
and read again and again.

"Toma'r liila' tumii bojha, a'ro keu ta'ha' bujhite ki pa're..."  (P.S. 722)

Purport:

  Baba, You are so loving and unique. Only You can understand Your divine
liila. No one except You can know the way You are playing liila. Who can
understand Your liila? Before understanding the liila of Liilamaya (Liila
Personified), I will have to realise You, the Liilamaya. In order to
understand the divine play I will have to realise You, the Controller.
Baba, You are my Heart of hearts.
  Why does the sun rise in the east. And why does it always set in the
west. And why does it make a purple coloured sunset. Why do all these
things happen? Baba only You know. And why only one moon is floating in the
sky, yet by that way the night becomes effulgent with the moonlight. Why do
such things occur? Who arranges all these affairs? Why this liila? Who is
behind these things? Baba, only You know.
  To know Your liila is impossible. Why snow forms on the high peaks of
the mountains; and why the color of the sky is blue; and why pearls have a
brilliant white colour. Why each and everything has its own inherent
qualities. Who can understand all this-- only You Baba.
  Baba, please grace me to understand and realise You. Baba to understand
Your liila is very difficult. That is why I have only one desire-- to
understand You. And without Your grace it is not possible. Please grace me,
O' Liilamaya....

                    Fight Against Death

Baba says, "The inner motivation of ta'n'd'ava is the following:
'Destruction is inevitable, but I will continue to fight against
destruction through struggle'. So there is a skull in one hand and a dagger
in the other. The skull represents destruction, and the dagger represents
fight. The underlying feeling is 'I will not surrender to destruction or
death. I will continue the struggle with this dagger'." (9 Nov 1978 Calcutta)


1. In the aforesaid guideline, Baba is teaching the inner spirit of tandava.

2. Usually in this materialistic world, people fear death immensely.
Tandava is the solution.
3. During the daytime tandava must always be done with a skull and dagger,
as they are visible then.
4. But when it is dark, then a lit fire torch or flame (masha'la) should be
used. And the spirit of tandava should be remembered so that fear of death
will be eliminated from the mind.
5. This tandava dance is the only physical exercise of the brain.
