Three Women Equal One Man...

Baba

"A'loker ya'tra' pathe, tumi prabhu theko sa'the..."   (P.S. 2779)

Purport:

O' Baba, please remain along with me on the path of this effulgent journey. By Your grace, do not allow me to lag behind and get caught in the crest & troughs of my forward movement. Let my pathway be smooth by Your grace.

Baba, I do not care about any bondages or samskaras. My only request is that You please give me strength to do Your work and serve You - implement Your ideals. This single request I humbly make at Your lotus feet.

O' my Dearmost Baba, this whole entire creation is revolving round and round - propelled by the laws of karma. The great Cosmic Entity and the unit being exist in this system of brahmacakra. The divine Entity is that nucleus that the jiivas rotate around. So now Baba, in this very cycle of brahmacakra, please also include me. Make it so that I shall always remain as Your designated machine (yantra). In that way, I will go on executing Your task. Let my life be completely devoted unto You.

Baba, by Your grace, please remain with me on this journey of effulgence - all the while keeping me moving ahead in an unhindered way...

THREE WOMEN EQUAL ONE MAN--

THIS VERY DOGMA EXPOSED BY BABA WAS REMOVED FROM THE BOOK

Namaskar,

The below excerpt is missing from the printed English and Bengali versions of Baba's discourse, "Liberation of Intellect". The discourse was originally given by Baba in Hindi. And the original Hindi of the missing section is given below, followed by an English translation. But in the printed English version of the discourse, this section has never appeared. So here it has been translated by some Hindi-speaking margis, so that all can understand the meaning of the section.

From "Liberation of Intellect" (Patna, 26th January 1980)

"Do ca'r maha'purus' bhii to aese the, ham to maha'purus' kahate haen kyonki aor shabd ka' vyavoha'r karna', ucit nahiin hoga'. Kahate the, ki ek aorat pu'ra' manusy nahiin hae. Tiin aorat sama'n ek purus'. Adbhut! Aor jo log un ko ma'nenge un kii buddhi par avarodh d'a'la' ja'ega'. Ve du'sare kisii praka'r ke vica'r ko ve barda'sht tak nahiin kar sakenge. Jis vica'r se man ka' sva'bha'vik vika's hoga' buddhi ka' sva'bha'vik vika's hoga', us vica'r se ve du'r rahenge, vica'r se d'arenge. Dogma ne un ko is tarah se jakar' liya' hae." "Kuch log to aesa' bhii kahenge ki-- "Majahab men akl kii dakhal nahiin hae." Artha't jaha'n akl nahiin hae jaha'n manus'y aklmand nahiin hae jaha'n manus'y vica'rshiil nahiin hae ve majahab ke cangul men phasenge." "A'j ka' a'locy vis'ay hae-- "buddhi kii mukti". Jiivan ke har pahalu' men hamen buddhi se ka'm lena' par'ta' hae aor ham adhik se adhik buddhi ca'hate haen, ca'henge. Aor ham ja'nte haen, pra'krtik vika's ke anusa'r manus'y kii buddhi bar'htii rehegii aor is buddhi ke parivartan men aor bhii kaii sa'lon tak vah jo dogmas hae badha'en d'a'ltii rahegii. Ham tumlogon se yahii kahenge, ki tum logon men yaha'n tak to buddhi a' gaii hae ki kaon dogma hae kaon dogma nahiin hae. Yah samajhane kii buddhi tum men a' gaii hae. Ham yahiin kahenge ki jaha'n dekhoge ki tumha'rii buddhi ke vika's men dogma ba'dha' d'a'l rahii hae, vaha'n himmat ke sa'th dogma ko cu'r-cu'r kar a'ge bar'the raho!" Patna, 26th January 1980, RU Discourse

ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE ABOVE ORIGINAL

(Note: The following is an informal translation of the above, made by some Hindi-knowing Margis, so that all can understand and have a sense of the above excerpt which is missing from our AM books.)

"There are also a few "great personalities" (maha'purus') - we call them "great personalities" because it would not be proper to use any other term - who say that in the social sphere one woman does not hold the value of an entire man. Rather, three women equal one man. What an absurd notion! Those who are the followers of such "great personalities", their own intellectual growth will be impeded. They will not be able to tolerate even, any rational ideas. They will keep away from and fear all rational ideas which bring the natural growth and development of mind. In this very way, dogma has captured their minds. Some people also say that- "In religion, there is no place for the intellect". That is, where people are not intelligent, where they are not rational, where they are fools, in that very state they are liable to get caught in the clutches of religion. The subject of today's discourse is, "The liberation of intellect". Indeed, we have to utilize our intellect in all spheres of life. And because of this, we want to increase our intellect as much as possible. Further we know that, according to the law of nature, human intellect will go on increasing. And, dogmas will continue to hinder this mental progress for many more years to come. I will say this to you all that you have understood well what is dogma, and what is not. And I will also say, that wherever you see dogma creating a hindrance to the growth of your intellect, there you should courageously go on crushing the dogmas and moving ahead!"

A HISTORICAL DISCOURSE

This discourse, "Liberation of Intellect", is a truly historical discourse. It was given by Baba in 1980, two years prior to His visionary book "Liberation of Intellect: Neohumanism". In 1982 this revolutionary new idea of the liberation of intellect, would be spread like fire via that book. And at that very time, its fame would move throughout the world. But actually two years prior, in 1980, with the discourse "Liberation of Intellect", Baba launched the new idea. Although at that time in 1980, no one realized a revolutionary new era of thought was in the process of being created. Because it was not until two years later that the idea was given in full by Baba with the book ("Liberation of Intellect: Neohumanism"). However the seed of that very book was actually given two years prior with this discourse, "Liberation of Intellect". So verily this is a historical and ground-breaking discourse. It was given in Patna, on the 26th of January, 1980.

LIBERATION OF INTELLECT-- SOMETHING NEW

And for Margis, in 1980 the term "Liberation of Intellect" itself was something quite new. Until then, Margis had only heard the phrase "the liberation (mukti) of a person". When this discourse was given in 1980 with the new phrase "the mukti of intellect" on center stage, to all it seemed quite unusual and strange. Could it also be the case, people wondered, that there were such a thing as the "the moksa of intellect" as well? Margis could not understand just what this new thing was, "the mukti or liberation of intellect". Because they were used to hearing the word "mukti" or "liberation" used regarding human beings, and not just a human's one part, the "intellect".

RU DISCOURSE IN HINDI-- UNIQUE

And there in Patna, Baba demonstrated the unique and all-important nature of this discourse, right at the moment He gave it. Because He gave it using a highly unusual medium. For it was an established tradition, that the RU discourse was mostly given in English. But Baba gave the RU Discourse, "Liberation of Intellect", given in Patna, 26th January 1980, was given in Hindi.

PREFERENCE ACCORDING TO LANGUAGE

Now, as all know, in those days the publications department was being run by Bengali-speaking WT's. And they took great pride in the discourses Baba gave in Bengali-- due to which the Bengali discourses were transcribed and printed with great care. The printed Bengali discourses were well done-in them was printed very accurately just what Baba had spoken in the actual discourse. But unfortunately with the Hindi discourses, such care was not taken. Rather, often sections were missing or passages were very poorly transcribed. And such is the case with this discourse, "Liberation of Intellect". As it is in Hindi, so it is very poorly done.

WHY THIS SECTION WAS REMOVED

Indeed, perhaps the most important section of the discourse about the rights of women, has been deliberately taken away. Indeed, how can it be that this entire section was left out by mistake. It could only have been removed intentionally, in order to shorten the length of the discourse. So that in the long term, the number of printed pages in AM books would be less in Hindi and more in Bangla. So that Bengla would supercede Hindi altogether and be accepted as the most important language in AM scripture. And the proof that Bengali-speaking WTs had this desire, is that this was done not with one discourse only, but with virtually all. This became the overwhelming trend in the publications department, that any discourse in Hindi should be shortened as much as possible, and all Bangla discourses must be kept at full length.

UNETHICAL HISTORY

And this discourse "Liberation of Intellect", although given by Baba in Hindi, was actually printed first in Bengali in AV part 18. And it was presented to the Margi public as the original language of the discourse. This very Bengali language edition was used by our publishers as the original also-- that is, Hindi and English editions were translated from this so-called "original" Bengali version. Although Baba had given the discourse in Hindi, but the translated Bengali version was used to re-translate a new Hindi version, rather than using the original Hindi which Baba gave the discourse in. So the Hindi and English editions of the discourse when they were later printed, were translated from Bengali. And it is even printed in the Hindi and English editions, that the discourse is "Translated from the original Bengali". And any subsequent other-language editions whether Spanish, Russian, Japanese etc, were all translated from the so-called "original" Bengali-- when actually this was not the original at all. The Hindi was the real original, but our Calcutta publishers befooled the Margis and general WTs into thinking that the Bengali version was the original. So in that very so-called original Bengali printing, the section about women's rights was removed. This was done out of a desire to minimize the Hindi discourse-- for in their own minds, our publishers knew that Baba had given the discourse in Hindi and for this reason they wanted to minimize it. So they removed the section about womens' rights. And Margis were not aware, no one could know that anything was missing. There was no note about it in the book, nothing at all was mentioned. And in these 25 years since then, the discourse has remained just like that. After the first printing, it was later published in "A Few Problems Solved" in 1987. Several years had passed since the first AV-18 printing, but still the section on women's rights remained missing. And this is a major discourse-- "Liberation of Intellect". It can be called the very first discourse in the Neohumanism series.

WHAT BABA SPOKE ABOUT THAT DAY

In this discourse Baba is speaking against dogma in the society. And the principle example He gives-about the fact that in Muslim society, one woman is not considered to be of the value of an entire man. Rather, three women are considered equal to one man. --All this was removed from Baba's discourse. Baba is explaining in the discourse, that we must fight against dogma-- and just what Baba says against dogma was itself removed from the discourse. How painful it is.

REMOVED SECTION, RE-PRESENTED BY MARGIS

Here then, the removed excerpt of the discourse "Liberation of Intellect" is being given anew. The section of the discourse which was removed 25 years ago by our Calcutta publishers and never replaced since, is here below shown in its literal entirety. It should be again included in the printed discourse, as Baba intended when He gave the discourse. So it is requested that all margis should check their AM books against the pravacan cassettes which they have collected over the years, find the deletions and distortions in the printed version, and request that our publishers fix the respective discourses. In Bengali language discourses, such is never the case that sections are removed, distortions are added, and discourses are ruined. Whereas in Hindi discourses, this is a regular occurrence. The Hindi discourses are cut, distorted, minimized. It is of great importance, then, that these be carefully checked and repaired. In this very way, by checking the discourses that we margis have, it will be found that 90% of the Hindi discourses are cut and distorted in one or another form. The discourses which Baba has given in Hindi, and those given in English as well, have been ruined by our publishers. By this way it will be seen that overall, the condition of our scriptures is not good. And by Baba's grace, with the collective efforts of all Margis, our AM scripture-- the printed discourses-- can be corrected and perfected so that they become true and accurate representations of what Baba actually said.

Namaskar,
Amriteshwar

Note 1: THIS CRITICAL PARA MISSING FROM THE FOLLOWING BOOKS

The missing paragraph where Baba exposes the dogma about three women equaling one man has been removed from the English and Bengali version of the discourse. That is why that para does not appear in any of the following books:

(1) NHNS-1, '87 Edn, English
(2) NHNS-1, '99 Edn, English
(3) AV-18, '80 Edn, Bangla
(4) AFPS-4, '87 Edn
(5) Electronic Books (3 Editions. incl 2006)

The missing paragraph would be the second to last paragraph of the English version of the 'Liberation of Intellect' discourse. So it would appear just AFTER the words "severely hindered in many countries.", and just BEFORE the opening words of the last paragraph, "On one side the malevolent forces".

Note 2: IRONY

The irony of this entire ordeal is quite apparent. Because in this very discourse, 'The Liberation of Intellect', Baba is guiding us to fight against all types of dogmas. Yet that same crude, dogmatic way of thinking is what motivated our Dadas to remove Baba's special paragraph from the discourse. So that is the irony. On the one hand Baba is inspiring one and all to wipe away all dogmas from this earth; and, on the other hand some dogmatic minds removed the paragraph from this very discourse where Baba is exposing a long-standing dogma against females. It seems that such Dadas do not want to free females from this very dogma; and they prefer that females continue to believe that 3 females are equal to one male. Otherwise what can be the reason why they removed this specific paragraph from this discourse.

Health Guideline: Cause of Cancer

Remaining awake after midnight and sleeping after sunrise comes under the definition of being awake at night and sleeping during the day. And that very condition invites cancer:

Baba says "Persons... [who] sleep during the day and keep late nights are most likely to be attacked by cancer." (YT, p. 19) Note: Sleeping during the day does not just mean at taking a nap in the afternoon or in the late morning. Sleeping during the day also means not getting up in the early morning for paincajanya.

Oslo Crime & Neo-Humanism

OSLO CRIME & NEO-HUMANISM:

TWO-PRONGED APPROACH IS THE SOLUTION

Namaskar,
Due to the lack of pracara of neo-humanism, so many solvable problems remain unsolved. It has been 30 years since Baba propounded neo-humanism, but still the general populace is unaware. Because of this, humanity is not moving forward, rather backward.

RACIST RAMPAGE

For instance, last summer one white supremacist, motivated by racial hatred, killed 77 innocent teenagers at a political camp in Norway.  At present, this mass-murder trial is underway in Oslo. At the same time, throughout the west, and especially in Europe, there is a rise in extremist, right-wing rhetoric - and even political parties.

PUNISHMENT ALONE IS NOT THE ANSWER

The current leaders are unable to address and solve this matter in a comprehensive way that will lead to the growth of society. Such leaders think they can control the situation only through punishment. But that alone is not the solution.

Those who commit racial hate crimes are tried in court, punished, and given hefty sentences. But this does not solve the problem; it merely heightens the hatred of those anti-social elements. It is like adding gasoline to a fire.

OUR TWO-PRONGED APPROACH

A new approach is needed. And that approach has already been given by Baba:
(1) punishment to criminals and (2) education about the defects and horrors of racism, in conjunction with the beauty and charm of neo-humanism. This is the only practical way to proceed. That is Baba's two-pronged method.

And we must propagate this widely.

Because some think that harsh punishment alone will deter and scare people from committing hate crimes. But that is not true. A shift of heart and mind are needed. And for that, the teachings of neo-humanism are a must.

HUMANS NEED RATIONAL ANSWERS

Human beings are not animals and cannot be controlled only by punishment. Humans are sentimental, emotional, rational and logical beings. We need to be given teachings that satiate the heart and satisfy the mind. Every human being has a mind, and that mind needs answers.

PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF NEO-HUMANISM

When addressing matters of hate crimes and racial attacks - which are quite common nowadays in the west - then as outlined above the two-pronged approach is needed. Punishment should be meted out to the wrongdoer, and, side by side, the teachings of neo-humanism should be given to counteract racism in the greater society. The world is ready to go beyond the narrow boundaries of race, ethnicity, caste and gender etc.

In a psychological way we should discuss the origin of humanity and explain how we are all connected to one another. With that groundwork, this problem of racial hatred will be resolved.

All along, the divisive, fissiparous tendencies (i.e. the path of analysis) of humanity should be discouraged. And those unifying principles (i.e. the path of synthesis) should be encouraged.

When people are aware of their origin and understand that we call come from the same source, Parama Purusa, then all superficial differences (race, caste, gender etc) will vanish.

CONCLUSION

Only the two-pronged approach of Ananda Marga - punishment and neo-humanistic education - can lead the world away from hatred and racism, and build a loving feeling toward  all to form one universal human family.

Namaskar,
Jiivendra Deva

Note: A CLARIFICATION

That does not mean that we should give a "free pass" to those preaching dogmatic, illogical, and outdated ideas. This applies to the activities of both fundamentalist Muslims, and Christians, among others.

Note: TOLERANCE IS NOT SOMETHING GREAT

People often talk about the term tolerance as being something great. They say, "Have tolerance for others." But, in truth, tolerance is not at all a lofty sentiment. People can harbor very negative feelings towards others, yet still "tolerate" them. And anytime they may erupt and attack. So tolerance itself is not a high ideal; it does not reach the inner portions of one's heart and mind. Our approach is not that people should merely be tolerant of each other.

For example, if in your kitchen a mouse or raccoon enters then you may say that, "I can tolerate this so long as it does not eat my food." That gives the message that you do not like the situation but you can tolerate it. This means you have a negetive feeling toward what you are tolerating. Such a senitment should not be used toward human beings. This word - tolerate - is not appreciated in family life or with friends. If it is used, then others know that you hate that person, and by exercising tolerance you refrain from attacking them. Or it means that someone is doing bad things and irritating you but you control your anger and do not attack them. That is also tolerance. That type of feeling is not at all ideal. No one should preach: "We should tolerate others." In Ananda Marga we do not support such an lowly outlook.

According to the tenets of neo-humanism, we should strive to cultivate a truly loving feeling towards all, and see them as brother and sister. Then all feels of hatred and aversion will completely dissipate; that is the effect of love. Whereas with tolerance, that does not happen. So neo-humanism extends far beyond the rather static meaning of tolerance.

PRABHAT SAMGIITA

PS Intro: This song describes the feeling of one higher stage of devotional
realization.

"Prabhu, toma'y kii kahibo a'ro..." P.S. 447

Purport:

Baba, oh Prabhu, I love You so much. How can I express the deep love of my heart to You. Words alone fail to describe the feeling. With my vocal chords I cannot express the grace which You have showered on me. Baba, You have permanently drenched me in Your ahetuki krpa'. Since I have gotten You in my life, my life has become meaningful. I do not have any other type of longing in my mind except You. Baba, by Your grace, my mind is running always towards You & You alone. Baba, You have made my life blissful, in all the ways. It is just as if my whole existence is full of nectar.

O' my Dearmost, the cimmerian darkness has vanished from my life; those black days have gone far, far away. There is no longer any trace of them. This has all happened since the divine effulgence descended in my life by Your grace.

Baba, according to Your tune, melody, and rhythm, I am dancing. My days and nights, and my entire life, have become just like one bouquet of songs. Not even a wee-bit of dilemma or confusion is existing in my life. By Your infinite grace my mind is perfectly straight. This is all because of Your boundless karuna' (divine compassion).

Baba, O' Parama Purusa, my whole existence - my body, mind, and prana - is vibrating with the spiritual waves which You have generated by Your sweet touch. Baba, I have gotten You by Your grace. You have graced me immensely. Baba, I fully surrender myself at Your lotus feet...

M.N. Roy was a Student of Baba

Baba

== M.N. ROY WAS A STUDENT OF BABA ==

Note: As we all know Baba is the Taraka Brahma and His teachings are wholly unique, original and perfect for humanity. Lately there has been discussion on email wherein someone made the accusation that Baba's teachings of neo-humanism were "borrowed" from M.N. Roy's writings. Obviously this is wholly incorrect and what follows below is a string of emails that neatly portray this truth: That all Baba's teachings are original and that M.N. Roy was in fact a student of Baba's.

Namaskar.
The thread began when one person made the accusation:

"The original Prout policy borrowed from the Book “New Humanism” by M.N.Roy."

The original response to the above accusation was forwarded to the net by Deveshji and that letter is appended below.

Clearly though the one who levied such an accusation suffers from serious doubt about Guru. Because when Baba is the Sadguru who can think that Baba took ideas from M.N. Roy.

Those who suffer from the psychic disease of shaunka (doubt) they doubt everything, even who is their own biological father. They are suspicious of their biological mother that she is telling a lie; such persons ask their mother to substantiate her claim about who is their father.

The matter is quite simple.

It is quite obvious that since His childhood Baba was living in Jamalpur and Bengal and long before the creation of AM people used to meet Him. Just because there was no AM does not mean that He did nothing. If anyone thinks like this they are naive. In that pre-AM period so many came for guidance, among them MN Roy and Subhash also came to Baba.

Sincerely,
Lokesh

Note 1: WHO IS MAKING THE FAULTY ACCUSATION

The one making the false accusation that Baba's Prout teachings were borrowed or lifted from M.N. Roy is Dada Krstashivananda. Before saying more about this Dada, simply read Ac Bhaskarananda's comments directly following.

HERE IS A VERY MEANINGFUL REPLY BY AC BHASKARANANDJI ON THIS TOPIC:

Dear Devesh,
Krtshivanand has gone out of mind and it is well known to margiis of Germany. He is also not a well versed person on Baba's philosophy. MN Roy learnt from Baba but later distorted Baba's Neo-Humanism in to Radical Humanism.

The theme of radical humanism is negative and that of NH is positive. According to  radical humanism faith in God stops man's effort of inquiry and so progress is also stopped. This argument is fallacious as it is faith that gives strength to inquire further. So there should not be any comparison with NH...

Bhaskarananda

HERE BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL REPLY TO DADA K THAT WAS FORWARDED BY DEVESHJI:

Baba
Namaskar,
There is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding MN Roy and Baba. Some very confused persons seem to think that Baba got His ideas from MN Roy, such as the idea of neo-humanism. But nothing could be further from the truth.

Early on, before the creation of AMPS, both MN Roy and Subhash Chandra Bose came to Baba for spiritual initiation and regularly thereafter. They became His disciples. And there are accounts from those very close to Baba during the Jamalpur years wherein Baba explains that He was teaching both Subhash Chandra Bose and MN Roy about neo-humanism.

Indeed the very senior margii Sushil Dharji presents a very key account. As many may know Sushil Dhar took dictation regularly from Baba for 10 years. Sushilji worked in the railway office and took 1 hour dictation from Baba during lunchtime and he would also work with Baba outside of their office hours as well. Sushilji took dictation for Ananda Sutram
and worked with Baba on the final edits of the notes to His DMC discourses that were printed in Subhasita Samgraha parts 1 - 8. Those early DMC discourses were not recorded - rather disciples would take notes and then those notes would be correlated and reviewed with Baba before publishing them.

And it is this same Sushil Dhar who recounts an important a key interaction with Baba about His time with MN Roy.  And this shows that Baba was the teacher of MN Roy, not vice-versa.

As is commonly known, MN Roy published a famous book on humanism. And one time Sushil Jhar asked Baba about this. Sushil Dada was in the Jamalpur ashram taking dictation from Baba and Ramtanukji was also present.

Baba told him that soon He will give dictation on neo-humanism.

And Sushil ji asked Baba if that is different from MN Roy's teachings humanism. Sushilji asked that because at the time he was reading MN Roy's book.

Baba then recounted how He Himself told that topic of neo-humanism to MN Roy and that then there was no Prout so now there is a need to link neo-humanism with Prout.

Then Baba added, MN Roy could not keep connection. All this shows that Baba is the propounder of neo-humanism, not MN Roy.

Furthermore, in those earlier days two margiis - Ram Kumar and Vivekananda Singh would write and publish Baba's ideas in their own pen names and print their writings in Ananda Doota and certain Bangla magazines. This sets the precedent that people were writing about Baba's teachings in their own articles before Baba started writing and publishing His own AM books in His name. And indeed that is what MN Roy did. This also demonstrates that Baba was MN Roy's teacher and not the
other way around.

Plus there are so many other points which prove that Baba is the real Propounder of neo-humanism and that His teachings are entirely original.

By this entire account, it is obvious that Dada K has no truth in what he said. All his points are off the mark and concocted. Anyone even a little familiar with AM ideals will understand this.

PRABHAT SAMGIITA

"E ga'n a'ma'r jiivaner a'nandadha'ra'..."   (P.S. 4505)

Purport:

Baba, You are so gracious; Your divine song is the flow of my life. This song has been coming since eternity and will go on up to infinity. It is beginningless and endless. It goes on and on giving me strength to play my instrument - the ekta'ra' [1]. Baba, by this song, my pin-pointed mind is moving from beginninglessness up to infinity after getting inspiration from You.

Baba, this very divine song will not bow down to any types of difficulties, obstacles or hindrances. This song does not hurt anyone's mental feeling. This song loves everyone; it helps everyone. Indeed this song satiates the heart and has infinite inspiration. This song is so divinely intoxicated that the mind becomes one with that most beautiful Entity-- Parama Purusa.

Baba, this song never surrenders at the alter of crudity & dogma. This song never praises mortal beings. It nevers bows down to superficial things or materialistic values. Just it moves ahead along the path of Your perfect ideology. This song is full of divine effulgence. This song only accepts that singular Polestar; it accepts only His greatness, His glory.

Baba, by Your grace, this divine song of Prabhat Samgiita is the ocean of bliss. It saturates my whole being with that blissful, divine flow...

END NOTES FOR PRABHAT SAMGIITA #4505:

[1] Ekta'ra': Although it literally means a single string musical instrument, this term also symbolizes the grand idea how the sadhaka's mind is one-pointed towards Ista - Baba. Indeed no other ideas are coming in the sadhaka's mind. The devotee is completely focused on Baba's thoughts & His ideation. Baba, is the goal of life. In this way the Ekta'ra' term is moving.

Animal Rights & Animal Pets

Subject: Animal Rights & Animal Pets

Baba

                 == ANIMALS RIGHTS & ANIMAL PETS ==

Namaskar,
Right now on this planet we see so much suffering-- it is pervasive
throughout the globe and not limited to human beings. Animals also undergo
terrible suffering, unnecessarily. We can say that cruelty to animals is
rampant and, tragically, often openly accepted.

This mistreatment and undue harm to animals occurs everywhere: From Hong
Kong to Buenos Aires and from New York to Cape Town. That is well known.
But it also has to be admitted that the mistreatment of animals is much
more prevalent in the west, i.e. in those lands guided by the Semitic
religions.

As our Marga aims to eradicate the suffering of all beings, we should
clearly identify and carefully analyse the root cause behind such animal
suffering. By that way we can quickly bring about a healthy, universalistic
order that ensures the welfare of not only humans, but also plants and
animals.

                        PHILOSOPHY IS THE CAUSE

Wherever people live and whatever land they call their home, the common
inhabitants become coloured by the philosophy of that place. This happens
to just about everyone. And as we shall see this is the root cause of the
mistreatment of animals in our western nations.

Baba says, "In this universe there are people whose thoughts, character and
behaviour are similar...Characteristics inherent in a particular group get
mixed with the internal thoughts and ideas of other groups within a
society. This leads to the development of national characteristics. In this
way an entire national psychology - its external behaviour, its social
outlook, and its philosophy of life - is developed." (AFPS-6)

So each and every country has a particular way of living: A certain
mentality that projects a common mode of behaviour. This Baba terms as
prana dharma. And this shared outlook, or prana dharma, touches the very
core of the people of that land, region, or country.

                    ANIMAL (MIS)TREATMENT IN THE WEST:

HOW IT WORKS WITH THE SEMITIC RELIGIONS ETC

So in the west, where the guiding philosophy or prana dharma is highly
affected by the Semitic religions-- Christian thought, Judaic beliefs, and
Muslim customs where animal cruelty is at its unnatural height & unholy peak.
Because the prevailing concept of all the these aforementioned religions is
that all the creatures exist on this planet solely for the exclusive
pleasure of human beings. In the name of their "God", they think like this.

So according to these dogmatic religions, animals are for human enjoyment
only, and animals have no rights of their own. This is the crusty, age-old
Semitic way of thinking.

And indeed this defective approach has affected the preaching of so many
western thinkers from St Thomas Aquinas to Descartes to Kant, and various
others in between and after. None of these so-called great philosophers
recognise the rights of animals-- not in the least.

In turn, the common people living in those nations get deluged by an
onslaught of religious and intellectual thought that teaches them: "Animals
are made for us"; "Animals are to be used for our human enjoyment". This is
their selfish outlook. So, with this defective mentality sitting in the
forefront of their mental plate, the people use and abuse animals,
senselessly.

This crude and defective approach has done untold harm in the past, as well
as led to the rise of horrific factory farms in this present era-- factory
farms that systematically and heartlessly bind & torture animals to keep up
with the ongoing demand of meats, poultry, mutton, and fish for human
consumption. This has been well-documented and anyone can view photos on
the web of the scandalous and cold-blooded treatment of the animals in such
factory farms. Even then that is not all.

Side by side, in those same western countries hunting laws are instituted
to ensure that there is 'enough game' so that humans can satisfy their
fancy and legally go out and shoot defenseless animals. And there are
numerous other examples and inhumane displays of animal mistreatment in the
western world that is fed and supported by the faulty Semitic views toward
animals.

All because, in the west, the common people have been flooded with the
religious propaganda that animals are merely a means to an end-- and that
'end' is human enjoyment. This crude mentality has shaped and molded the
minds of the people.

Verily, this is the mentality of the common populace including the kids.
That is why children-- without even thinking-- may pull the legs off of
various insects, or pour gasoline on beehives and burn them, or senselessly
kill squirrels, rodents, and even cats etc.

And the root cause behind it all is that selfish and dogmatic belief that
all these animals have been placed on this earth solely for the crude
pleasure & enjoyment of humans. So "we can do what we want to those
animals-- they are made for us". This is what their religious dogma preaches.

Whereas our neohumanism beautifully states that all beings are the divine
expression of Parama Purusa and we humans are to act as guardians and
ensure the right and proper treatment of all-- because all beings,
including animals, have their God-given rights and existential value. All
have the right to a healthy and happy life.

DON'T GET BEFOOLED BY THE 'PET' PSYCHOLOGY OF THE WEST

Those new to the western world or visiting for the first time may naively
think that animals have a high place in western society. Because in places
like the US, dog owners spare no expense for their pets. There are animal
hospitals which primarily treat dogs, plus there are doggie saloons, doggie
spas, dog groomers, doggie retreats, doggie vacations, doggie massages, and
even doggie yoga classes where pet owners bring their dogs to class and do
asanas with their cherished pets. So there are thousands of ways to pamper
your pet-- and it all costs a pretty penny, i.e. lots of money.

Seeing all this one may think that dogs and all animals are revered and
given high-status in the west. But that is just a bunch of nonsense. The
prevailing 'pet' psychology in the west all falls in their selfish &
hypocritical perspective-- that is all.

Those pet owners derive selfish pleasure from their doggie pets and praise
themselves for the grand way in which they care for their dogs, yet every
night their dinner plate is filled with the remnants of slaughtered animals
that suffered in misery before being sentenced to some painful and
deceitful death. And those same pet owners sport leather shoes & mink coats
that only further testify to the fact that they feel they can do anything
and everything with animals-- because those "animals are made for us". So
says their Christian doctrine and so says their conscience. And their
selfish & hypocritical behaviour perfectly reflects this very idea.
It should also be included that those very same pet owners have started
innumerable capitalist ventures that exploit animals to the bone in order
to maximize profits.

Hence, by seeing the conditions of 'pets', no one should hastily conclude
that those in the US people are very kind and sweet to animals. It is not
at all like that.

ECO-GROUPS & ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUPS HAVE THEIR AGENDA

Some might then say, 'Well what about all those animal rights groups and
eco-groups in the US-- doesn't that show that they care for animal welfare'.
And the quick and pointed reply is that many of those conservation groups
still subscribe to eating meat etc, and with regards to the eco-oriented
animals rights organisations, they also have their limited agendas such as
wanting to secure their home on this earth and for that they got involved
in environmental problems caused by a meat-based diet. Thereby those people
can continue to live on the planet and enjoy, whether it be rock-n-roll
music or other pseudo-culture trends. So theirs is not a wholly benevolent
or conscious approach. Rather it is inherently tainted with some other
motive-- whether they realise it or not.

And for those who few who may be internally sincere in their desire to help
animals, unfortunately they are not spiritually awakened enough to
understand that those animals are expressions of Parama Purusa and that we
are to serve Him by helping those animals.

So none of those groups are on par with AM and in 99% of the cases they
have a side-by agenda in mind. Yet they are all our brothers and sisters
and it is our bounden to guide them as best we can. And to guide them
properly, neither should we be in awe of their work nor should we despise
them as people. Rather ours should be a balanced approach where we
recognise their shortcomings so that we may best help them to advance.

Here the main idea is that the overall perspective of such advocacy
organisations is not one of seva. So although such groups may seemingly be
doing good work-- they are not "one" with our Marga. Because only our
neo-humanistic philosophy imbibes the belief that all are the expression of
Parama Purusa we have come to this world to serve others-- including plants
and animals-- and watch for their welfare.

No eco or animal rights group has this God-centered, neo-humanistic ideal
in mind.

                                  SHORT RECAP

So in the nutshell that is the picture of animal mistreatment in the west
and it is all fueled by the selfish, dogmatic outlook of the Semitic
religions which states, "Animals are made for us".

THE SITUATION OF ANIMALS IN INDIA

The situation with regards to the treatment of animals in India is
comparatively better. No doubt there are some pitfalls, but at the same
time it has to be recognised that those early rishis of 15,000 years ago
preached the spiritual ideal that are all the expressions of Parama Purusa.
And this pure premise has filtered down to the Indian masses for generation
after generation.

Baba says, "The thoughts and ideals of India are quite different from the
other countries in the East. Since ancient times, India has been adhering
to her distinct pra'n'a dharma. Regarding life and the world, the Indian
people are certainly spiritually inclined. They look upon each and every
thought and deed as part of their spiritual practice." (AFPS-6)

And it is with this prana dharma firmly in mind that so many proper
practices have been implemented in life such as a purely sattvik diet as
well as a long standing belief that animals have a right to live on this
earth. They have this inherent right.

And when things went overboard and the Aryans came from outside and started
doing huge animals sacrifices and turning the rivers into pools of blood,
then great souls like Buddha and Mahaviira Jain echoed the words of those
rishis of old and came forward and opposed those cruel sacrifices.

Here the point is not that our Marga should emulate the Indian standard. We
have our neo-humanistic standard to follow and using that as a guideline it
has to be recognised that the moral and ethical treatment in India is far
higher than in those Semitic oriented countries like the US that are
dominated by the crude belief that "animals are made for us-- for human
enjoyment."

This wasteland of an idea was never present in the Indian mentality. And
one great proof of this is that one of the names of Lord Shiva is
'Pashupati'-- i.e. that Shiva is not just the God of humans but of animals
also. It is not just that Shiva taught sadhana to animalistic humans-- that
is not the only reason why He is called Pashupati; also He cared very
sweetly for animals and, being the Mahasambhuti, He preached this ideal as
well.

And since long in India it has been known that through the law of karma,
humans evolved out of animal life, which helps one recognise the value of
animal life. This is commonly understood within the Indian philosophical
tradition.

Here the point is not to glorify the Indian outlook. It has its defects and
has been certainly by infiltrated by the Aryans, Muslims, Britishers, and
Christians etc.

But at the same time we should recognise that those early Himalayan rishis
who preached Samgacchadhvam, the yoga ideal, and other great teachings were
also well aware that humans are to watch for the welfare of animals. And
this message filtered down to the masses.

And still today, the common people in India will readily say, 'What right
do I have to hurt those animals, they are the expression of God'. How far
they follow this cent per cent in their life may vary-- but this idea is
commonly in the mind. And that is a heck of a step higher than the typical
American mentality, where one thinks, "Animals are made for us-- for my
enjoyment".

So comparatively speaking, India's treatment and regard for animals is
higher than the west has ever known.

                             CONTEMPORARY TRENDS

But in this ever-changing world, it is quite apparent that now the
unfortunate turn of events is going on where India has begun rushing
headlong after crude western ways. More and more they are slipping into the
capitalistic trap whereby animals are nothing but a means to an end. On
the plus side, however, more and more westerners are trying to leave
materialism and are harbouring a strong desire to fashion their life after
age-old eastern truths. This switchover is going on.

However, the tables have not turned yet-- not completely anyway.
So comparatively speaking India's view towards animals more closely
resembles the gold-bar standard of AM neo-humanism.

                                  AM IS FAR ABOVE

In AM, our vision and perspective towards animals is pure and unblemished.
Baba has given all the ideal teachings and has pointed out the prevailing
dogmas.

Baba says, "Hindus worship cows as something holy, apparently because they
give us milk. But if cows are revered as mothers for giving us milk,
shouldn't buffaloes be given a similar status? Actually, buffaloes give
more milk than cows. Unfortunately, the blind religious followers refuse to
listed to logic as their religious sentiment for cows has taken root deep
in their minds. People are fed these ideas since childhood, so later on it
becomes impossible for them to discard them." (AFPS-2)

So our ideal is neither western, nor eastern-- neither American, nor
Indian. Our ideal is the neo-humanistic vision which Baba has given. That
alone can save the fate of animals on this earth.

                 ONLY SOLUTION: NEO-HUMANISM

With Baba's grand teaching of neo-humanism, then surely the future of
animals is bright and animal cruelty will be reduced, nay eradicated.

Baba says, "All molecules, atoms, electrons, protons, positrons and
neutrons are the veritable expressions of the same Supreme Consciousness.
Those who remember this reality, who keep this realization ever alive in
their hearts, are said to have attained perfection in life. They are the
real devotees, the real bhaktas. When the underlying spirit of humanism is
extended to everything, animate and inanimate, in this universe - I have
designated this as Neohumanism. This Neohumanism will elevate humanism to
universalism, the cult of love for all created beings of this universe."
(NH-LOI, Disc: 1)

So in Baba's divine teachings of neo-humanism, we are to immerse our mind
in His cosmic flow and realise the interconnectedness of all-- that all are
but expressions of Him. Fueled by the fire of this neo-humanistic ideal,
then naturally one will act as a benevolent guardian-- serving one and all
and watching for everyone's welfare, be they human, animal, plant, brick,
or stone.

                                      BABA'S BLESSING

By Baba's grace we will personify His teachings and spread the message of
animal welfare to all-- thereby eliminating, once and for all, the crude
Semitic belief that "Animals are made for us-- for human selfish enjoyment".

Baba says, "The human race must attain glory by giving due recognition and
justice to all." (HS-1)

Namaskar,
Jayanta

Note 1:                THE EFFECT OF THE MONKEY GOD

The religions have a big effect on the mentality of the people. And in the
traditional Indian outlook, various animals like Hanuman are highly
regarded as being deities or mounts to the attainment of Brahmahood. And
the obvious plus point of such religious beliefs is that they have helped
infuse a certain respect towards the animal kingdom among the followers of
that faith. Because the people thereby truly believed that animals are not
just lowly creatures for human consumption, but rather expressions of
divinity etc. Whereas in the crude Semitic faiths, this type of high regard
for animals never takes expression, rather it is totally absent.

PRABHAT SAMGIITA

"Nijer katha' balate gele yug ye cale ya'y..."   (P.S. 2610)

Purport:

Baba, my whole life is getting wasted in propagating my own greatness.
Since ages I have been involved in this foolish endeavour. Baba, please
fill my mind with Your divine tales. By listening them my whole heart, nay
my whole being, will be satiated. In order to listen to Your divine gospel,
I have remained awake since many lives-- since ages. Baba, please grace me
with that very smile because by getting a flash of that my life will become
successful.
Baba today You have graced me and changed my heart; I will no longer
waste my time in self-glorification and bragging about my unit 'I', little
ego. Because now my mind is running constantly towards You. Baba, I wasted
my life in self-propaganda. Now by Your grace only I want to listen to Your
glory, Your sweet gospel...

                        Cooking Tips

Baba says, "If the vegetables get a little burnt and [you think] that 'Oh,
people can't eat this.' [Then] Quick- pour a lot of water onto them, and
add fifteen or twenty betel leaves. That will reduce the burnt effect."

Baba

Intro to PS: This following song is unique in its own special way. Here Baba, in an indirect manner, is talking to the devotee and consoling him about his situation.

"Jale bhara' a'nkhi yadio toma'r..."  (P.S. 1445)

Purport:

O' my dear, I can see that Your eyes are filled with tears. Please tell me why you are so sad-- such that You could not even manage to attend to your basic duties. Which divine Entity came and stole Your heart. He left, took away Your heart, and He did not return. Who is that who did that to you.

Even then please don't cry, that very divine Entity will come again. No doubt He left you alone and He went off to some far distant place. And He does not come close these days. But that type of strength He does not have that He can keep Himself away forever. Yes, He keeps Himself distant from You; but your love He has not forgotten nor can He ever forget. He will surely come again.

O' my dear, please tell me why you are so sad. Who has stolen Your heart; in whose longing are you crying. That Ajana Pathik, that divine Entity loves You very much, you should know...

== WHAT TO BELIEVE ==

Namaskar,
Nowadays, we all receive news nearly every moment from all parts of the globe. The news arrives via internet, discussions, blogs, emails, text messages, television, cell phone conversations, and indeed in all kinds of ways.

A key point in all of this is how to gather, receive, and best understand that news. How are we to know what is true and what is false.

Here I am not just talking about news of the general society, but news from within our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha as well. Please read the following for tips and guidelines; kindly share your perspective too.

OFTEN THE SOURCE IS NOT CORRECT

If the person or place from where you are gathering your news is faulty, or if that person is getting their news from a weak source, then you may be receiving incorrect news. This especially happens when the person telling you the news does not himself realise that what he is telling you is faulty. So with an earnest mind and sincere voice he conveys news to you, yet the information he is repeating is itself spoiled. This is one common way that wrong ideas get propagated.

For instance, some religions or religious sects preach that the world was created in six days. The priests propagate this notion. In response, their followers carry this message to all whom they meet. Because in their heart they believe this dogmatic and false notion. This is the way it often works.

Indeed, when the source of the news is himself devious, then news may reach your ears via other people yet you may not even realise that those things are incorrect. It happens.

Here are more practical examples to make this perfectly clear.

SCENES FROM THE GENERAL SOCIETY

In communist nations, the leaders would project their false propaganda - booming their message again and again. They repeat their incorrect messages over and over until the common citizens hold those ideas to be true.

Baba says, "Communism has survived long after the death of Marx. It survived only due to the force of arms and constant booming. If constant booming is done for something, then people start thinking that there must be some truth in what is being propagated. For example, if someone continually says that Gopal is a very bad boy, then people will eventually believe what they are being told. Gopal will become a bad boy in their eyes even if in fact Gopal is really a good boy. Communists are doing constant booming about their theory. Due to this people are being brainwashed, and at this stage it is very easy to inject incorrect ideas into their minds. By constant booming of their wrong theory they are creating their supporters." (Prout Nutshell-15, Defects of Communism – Section C)

And indeed not only did the communist leaders create followers, but those innocent yet brainwashed followers would repeat and discuss those same ideas with others. In this way, the spread of those faulty notions multiplied.

Here is another example.

Around 700 years ago, the political and academic leaders in Europe told everyone that the world was flat. In turn, everyone talked about the earth as if it was really flat. But even though the common people repeated and discussed this faulty concept again and again - they are not to be blamed. The source of their information was not correct.

These are but a few examples from the general society where the common people unknowingly spread false news to others. The root cause is that they are being fed faulty ideas which they hold to be true.

SOME EXAMPLES FROM OUR MARGA

In our Ananda Marga also such things occur.

For instance, there are numerous margiis who think that the observance of mahaprayan is OK and they are telling their friends to participate because it is "consistent with AM philosophy". In that case, how can one accuse those innocent margiis of spreading dogma. It is not their fault.

Rather some Dada injected this dogma and told them to celebrate mahaprayan and those people did not read AM scriptures to find out the truth. So they got misled by that hearsay. Hence those margiis still participating in the archaic and dogmatic mahaprayan function are not to be blamed. They were given faulty instructions.

Then of course there are margiis who belong to a specific group. Whatever group they join then they are taught certain defective ideas - even dogmas - by those group leaders. This applies to all the groups. They indoctrinate their followers into their own agenda items.

For instance, take the case of the various tiirthas or so-called holy sites. One group says that Jamalpur tiirtha is the "holiest place" and another group says that Tiljala is the "holiest place". Some think one place is the most important and others think another place is the "holiest". They each think that Baba is tied to their so-called holy land and resides there. For the margiis then, it all depends upon which group they are most influenced by.

Likewise, various groups spread their own Fake Ananda Vaniis. They each think that theirs is God's message of that day. But if really that is Baba's Ananda Vanii, then why are all three different - each group with their own.

THE THEOLOGY OF THE VARIOUS GROUPS DIFFER

In this following teaching, Baba describes the irony of how various religious factions or sects each claim to offer the supreme truth, yet each faction offers a different message.

Baba says, "The supporters of each and every scripture say, “Ours is the message of God, it is the supreme word.” Then if all the scriptures are messages of the same Supreme Being, why do they vary from one another? The Supreme Being is one, and if all the scriptures are messages of that single Supreme Being, then there should not be any variation amongst themselves. This shows that those scriptures are not the messages of that Supreme Being." (Subhasita Samgraha - 24, Longing for the Great)

Similarly, the theology of various groups differ from one other yet each claims that theirs is the message of Baba. And this leads to serious problems.

Each group promotes their own false propaganda - or their own separate set of "truths" - which gets repeated again and again until all the margiis in their group buy into that propaganda. By this way, margiis of different groups grow very far apart because they are all adhering to a different "truth". Thus the schism deepens.

In this way there are many examples of how each group does booming about their own false notions to their followers. Each group claims to be the path of truth yet all have distinctly different approaches.

In reality however, the universal truth is always the same, not many.  Here are some common examples:
(a) 2 + 2 = 4; it will never be that a 2 + 2 = 3, 6, or 9.
(b) a triangle has 3 sides; it will never be that a triangle has 11, 12, or 14 sides.
(c) a healthy dog has 4 legs; it is not the case that a fit dog has 1 or 7 legs.

These statements are true in all conditions. They are singular in nature not plural. There are not multiple truths. The truth is one.

Same is the case with Ananda Marga ideology. It is one dharmic truth - not many.

BABA'S TEACHING:

MUST USE VIVEK TO GET THE RIGHT UNDERSTANDING

As Ananda Margiis we must be able to discern between truth and falsehood, otherwise we will be misled. According to Baba we must use our viveka or discriminating faculty.

Baba says, "Now, human beings are capable of judging between right and wrong because their minds are somewhat developed, but the minds of creatures other than humans are not so developed. Because of their undeveloped minds, they cannot follow the path of rationality, the path of discrimination, which almost every human being can. Those who say that there is no need of study – “Leave your books aside!” – are incorrect. Study is essential, knowledge is essential, and association with learned and enlightened people is essential. Listening to learned discourses, studying and understanding the scriptures, all have their importance." (Neo-Humanism: Liberation of Intellect, Disc: 3)

Thus, by educating oneself about Baba's divine teachings, then that sadhaka will be able to develop the requisite viveka and hold the course of dharma and not be swayed by groupist agendas.

If however anyone fails to adhere to Baba's tenet and does not study AM ideology, then their plight will be similar to that of the bird in Baba's below teaching.

Baba says, "But animals less-evolved than humans are incapable of this. They cannot follow the path of rationality or conscience. The more-developed animals merely follow the path of sentiment. When an animal likes something, it runs after it; when it does not like it, it does not run after it. For instance, a dog runs toward a piece of bread without looking to either side. Or, for example, some grains of rice are spread under a net. Suddenly a bird catches sight of the grains and alights on the ground. It thinks: “Let me go down and eat them!” So it is caught in the net. But had it pursued the path of rationality, it would have thought: “Hmmm, rice is strewn in such a remote woodland! This is unnatural. There is neither a village nor rice fields nearby – so this is indeed strange. Let me think this over for a while… Aha! A net has been spread and ropes are laid on all sides. I must not alight there!” This is the way of logic. But if it follows the path of sentiment it will alight and be caught in the net..." (Neo-Humanism: Liberation of Intellect, Disc: 3)

Finally, in His next teaching, Baba warns us about falling prey to any kind of sentiment like groupist sentiment.

Baba says, "If someone moves along the path of sentiment instead of the path of rationality, there is a hundred percent probability of great danger. Those who move along the path of sentiment do not discriminate between the proper and the improper, but merely silently accept all superstitions surrounding the goal towards which they have been running. Even the least question regarding propriety or impropriety does not arise in their minds, because they are moving along the path of sentiment." (Neo-Humanism: Liberation of Intellect, Disc: 3)

BABA'S SOLUTION

In this critical situation, where all the group's are fast propagating their own gospel, then the only way to keep firm to the path is to study Baba's divine teachings. Baba took great pains to give so many discourese. Only when one is cent-per-cent familiar with Baba's eternal guideline can one keep away from the group agendas. We are not to believe on hearsay. Otherwise, one is to be misled by this or that dada and get lured following a particular group, instead of Baba's dharmic teachings. Hence, as Baba guides us, study is very important. That is the only way to uphold and protect AM ideology.

Baba says, "Study is essential, knowledge is essential, and association with learned and enlightened people is essential. Listening to learned discourses, studying and understanding the scriptures, all have their importance." (Neo-Humanism: Liberation of Intellect, Disc: 3)

Namaskar,
Mahendra

Health Guideline = Food In-take

Baba says, "Dyspepsia originates from unbalanced food habits. Eating when one is not hungry or only half-hungry is harmful in this disease. So is eating rich food for days together, using intoxicants, eating tasty food out of greed alone, not taking rest after the meal before running off to the office, or taking a bellyful of food..." (YT, p.3)

1. In the life it often happens that when one feels hungry food is not ready; and when one is not hungry then one gets food to eat. This is the common problem. Especially in the case of most of Wts because of their traveling routine they depend on others' or they face various inconveniences. So according to others' schedule etc so it becomes very difficult to take food in a timely way-- at the proper time food. That is why the tragedy is that the major percentage of Wts are suffering from one or more diseases. And unfortunately they end up leaving this world prematurely. Or they end up passing their day in a diseased and crippled condition totally feeble and bed-ridden. These are the common outcomes. So we should take lesson from all this and follow Baba's teachings and guide others to do the same.

2. Some innocent persons are thinking that since they are not drinking liquor or doing drugs then it means that they are not using intoxicants. But we should remember that tea and coffee are also intoxicants.

3. To properly follow this above rule Baba has given the code that one should not take more than 4 times per day, but the general society is moving in a completely negative way. Many persons have the bad habit of chewing gum all day long etc. Earlier I thought only a few kids were involved in this dirty habit, but now it we can see that the problem has become more general. Because and at retreats and seminars even Dadas and some Didis are also chewing gum like wild goats. But by this dirty habit when all day long one is swallowing saliva then saliva producing glands become dry. Then when the real need is there then those glands cannot secrete saliva. That is why people suffer from various diseases. Because without saliva food cannot be properly digested and undigested food causes so many toxic effects in the body. So we should follow Baba point of maximum 4 times and four items.

4. 'Rich food' means the food which one cannot digest such as high fat, oily food-- rich in fatty oily contents. Here 'rich' does not mean costly or not. it may be that rich foods are very cheap. The point is that eating rich, oily food invites the disease of obesity. This problem is quite common in the general public and also in our vast margii family. Everyone knows that obesity is the root cause of many kinds of diseases and that nowadays it is an epidemic.

5. In this modern era when everyone is feeling a shortage of time and people are just rushing from one work to another work, then they do not care to take rest after food. And that becomes the root cause of various diseases related with indigestion. The first of which is hyper-acidity. Sometimes this causes serious damage when one negative growth or side stomach or side pocket gets created. Then food sits there and rots and then people die from this.

6. When one takes rest after food then they can moderate their right nostril and ensure that it is open. But if after food they are just running to work then they cannot manage to keep the right nostril open in which case digestion is impaired.

Bogus & Dangerous Logic

                       == BOGUS & DANGEROUS LOGIC ==

Namaskar,
These days a few people are giving the pitch that since Baba adopted Kinshukji as His son then we should have full faith and trust in Ac Kinshuk Ranjan Sarkar as the Purodha Pramukha because Baba has chosen him as His adopted son. Indeed they claim Kinshukji is the only one fit to be PP. Because after all, there are billions upon billions of people on this earth, yet Baba specially selected Kinsukji as His only adopted son - not anyone else.

This is the logic that some are giving for why we should respect Kinshukji unquestionably as the most deserved one.

But this is totally 100% bogus logic.

On that ground - by that reasoning - we should bring back Uma Dutta (Sarkar) onto the scene and grant her more respect than Kinshukji. Why? Because Baba specially selected Uma as His wife and everyone knows that the wife relation is more close then that of son. There are so many marriageable sisters in India yet Baba decided upon Uma.

Thus if anyone adheres to the bogus logic that Kinshukji deserves unquestionable respect just because he was Baba's adopted son, then certainly they must accept that Uma Dutta (Sarkar) is even more deserving because she was Baba's chosen wife. That is the so-called logic those defectors were using.

That is why rational thinking margiis just call this bogus logic. That Kinshukji was adopted by Baba does not mean we have to accept his superiority or greatness.

Indeed this is the crude psychology the defector Vishokananda was pitching back in 1970/71. But Baba does not approve of this type of dogmatic thinking. Proof being that in due course He delivered His philosophy of neo-humanism that does away with all narrow sentiments.

                                              CLARIFICATION

With all due respect, here my intent is not to say that Kinshukji should or should not be PP nor comment whether he is qualified or not. Ac Kinshukji may indeed be worthy. But that worthiness must be based on his spiritual endeavour, penetrating intellect, and all-round good conduct. The fact that he is the adopted son of Baba is not the determining factor.

THIS IS THE WORD OF GOD

Whenever any leader - religious or otherwise - wishes to impose their selfish agenda, yet lack rational justifications, they resort to the phrase: "God says," or "God told me", or "This is the word of God".

This is what the Muslims did when they wanted to establish male dominance. Those mullahs declared in the name of God that 3 women are equal to one man. By this way they could impose their irrational doctrine. They just repeated that again and again until finally all those females firmly believed in this dogma. Such mullahs had no courage to say outrightly that "I believe that that 3 women should be equal to 1 man." This they did not do. Rather they put forth their crude desire in the name of God. That is the way they established their dogma.

Likewise, the Hindu priests advanced the edict that God has declared that only brahmins are holy and all others are lowly. By this way they got their way and imposed their illogical rule upon all. Similarly, white Christians said in the name of God that white people were meant to rule over others. By this type of bogus logic they established their supremacy - all done in the name of God.

Indeed in the middle ages, the phrase - "This is the word of God" - is the only slogan they raised and with this phrase alone they ruled the earth and dominated the masses of people. By this way those rulers imposed their crooked edicts, laws & rituals.

Here the whole point is that when any dominant leader cannot prove their point with logic, then they resort to the phrase, "This is the word of God." By that way they impose their illogical edicts.

Thus when any person declares that only Kinshuk is Baba's adopted son and therefore only Kinshuk deserves to be Purodha Pramukha, then we should be alert. Our eyebrows should raise and we should question, "Really this is so??". All right thinking people will naturally understand that this is nothing but bogus logic no different from what those priests and mullahs declared in the past.

And further down in this letter I will explain why it is not only bogus logic but dangerous too. The short answer is that this type of false logic stifles the human intellect. People are forced and trained to blindly obey irrational edicts; their power of critical thinking becomes dormant; and in result, human progress is thwarted. That is why it is dangerous and all this will be discussed in greater detail below.

                                                BABA'S WARNING

In Baba's below teaching, He guides us how the religious exploiters got their power in the past by imposing illogical dogmas on the people - all done in the name of God.

Baba says, "With the intention of permanently securing for themselves an exalted position in the eyes of the ordinary people, some vipra leaders have declared themselves to be the incarnation or the appointed prophet of God. Through their own so-called scriptures, they have indirectly let the common people know that no one can achieve the same proximity to God as they – so that an inferiority complex will remain forever in the minds of the masses, and due to this inferiority complex the masses will always follow their teachings, either out of fear or out of devotion." (Human Society -2, Vipra Age)

Here it is quite obvious that just as religious exploiters made the common people feel incompetent, inferior, and unworthy because they were not selected by God, similarly, those advancing the notion that only Kinshuk is deserving of being PP because only Kinshuk was adopted by Baba, are employing the same strategy. Their claim is that, "Only Kinshuk was adopted by Baba. No one else can be on par with Kinshuk." That is the message they are giving.

In that case what is the difference between what is happening now in our Marga and what transpired centuries ago in the dogmatic religions.

NOT ONLY BOGUS, BUT DANGEROUS TOO

No doubt this type of logic is bogus, and it is dangerous too. You may ask, "Why dangerous?". As stated above, the danger is that is totally thwarts and suppresses one's critical thinking skills. One cannot question the veracity of the statement, one must just accept it blindly.

In the past, those who questioned the dogmatic religious edicts in the past were made to suffer until finally those people either died or became blindly obedient to the church etc. They just followed those priests - suppression.

Baba says, "The very attempt to find the path of rationality was considered blasphemous." (Prout Nutshell-16, Religious Dogma - Section A)

And this manner of blindly following became habit forming and ultimately became one's nature. It spread to all realms of life. Not only did they blindly follow the religion but they adopted that blind approach in the economic, political and social spheres as well.

In the materialistic nations this became so ingrained in the people's psyche that today the common person cannot even think and decide on their own what should be done, purchased or bought. When they go to the store they cannot even think for themselves. Rather they eat, wear and do what those elite sponsors say.

For example, if a movie star, or pop singer, or famous athlete etc endorses a particular product, then that is enough for swarms of people to instantly chase after that product. That is why companies are willing to pay millions for stars to endorse their products. Because then the public will chase after those items in hoards. They will all purchase it - whether it is a good produce or not.

This loss of critical thinking reaches such an extreme that literally people are unable to muster any original thought. They cannot think for themselves, and instead depend 100% on those so-called leaders. That is the sad shape of the masses in today's materialistic nations. Their mentality has become totally shudra: a blind pawn of the ruling elite. In that case exploitation reigns.

And it all started with one religious dogma: "Mine is the word of God so you must obey - you are in no position to question anything." When those cunning rulers did not have logic on their side then they made their proclamations in the name of God.

                                        BLIND ACCEPTANCE

The illogical rhetoric that Kinshukji as the adopted son of Baba is therefore the only one fit to be PP begs a blind obedience from the mass of margiis and field workers. One is in no position to rationally evaluate Kinshukji as a possible candidate and secondly people feel inferior because they are not as close or favoured by Baba. They just have to accept it blindly.

So really this dogma creates an awful mess. It starts as something seemingly innocent - "Hey, let's have Baba's adopted son be PP" - and then slowly spreads like a noxious poison to each and every pore of the human mind. First it imposes an inferiority complex that says that if you are not Baba's adopted son then you cannot be PP. And secondly it inculcates the negative culture of blind obedience wherein one's critical thinking skills dissipate to zero.

That is why this logic - of making Kinshuk PP because he is Baba's adopted son - is not only bogus, but extremely dangerous as well.

MUST ADHERE TO THE PATH OF RATIONALITY

Here below Baba warns us that we should not fall into sentiment and follow, irrational  dogmas like "PP is the adopted son of Baba so he should be PP". We should not think in that defective manner; that will be our undoing. Rather we should firmly hold onto the path of rationality. Then we can decide in a clear way what is the best way to proceed.

Baba says, "If someone moves along the path of sentiment instead of the path of rationality, there is a hundred percent probability of great danger. Those who move along the path of sentiment do not discriminate between the proper and the improper, but merely silently accept all superstitions surrounding the goal towards which they have been running. Even the least question regarding propriety or impropriety does not arise in their minds, because they are moving along the path of sentiment."

"Now as a human being, what should one do? One should follow the path of rationality. Rationality is a treasure of humanity that no animal possesses. And those who possess the inner asset of devotion within their hearts and follow the path of rationality in dealing with the external world, must be victorious. They alone can accomplish worthy deeds in this world." (NH-LOI, Disc: 3)

Namaskar,
Vinay Deva

Note:                                 OUR SANSKRIT NAMES

Baba says, "At the time of initiation or shortly afterwards, those who do not have a Sanskrit name should be given one by the ácárya/á. The word deva should be suffixed to the name...the more the usage of deva as a title, the better it is. The Sanskrit name should be used in all worldly dealings." (Caryacarya-1)

== STORY: HORSES OF THREE BARNS ==

Namaskar,
In the aftermath of the recent unity meeting in Tiljala, a listing was issued of all the new postholders and next to their name was a code (KA) or (TF) indicating their group affiliation.

This reminds me of one story.

                                                 STORY OF HORSES

Once there were many horses. They were all living together but after some time they began fighting visciously. So they were split up into different camps. They were groupified according to various geographical regions: Borough farm, Harmond farm, and Taffu farm. The fighting continued: When they would go to graze they would quarrel and then return to their separate farms. Then one day some of those horses decided once again to live together. They thought they would live as horses, and not as Borough horses and Taffu horses. So they held a conference and the two horse farms shifted themselves to the same pasture. The Borough farm and the Taffu farm joined together. Yet even though they now  lived under "one roof", each horse still identified themselves as being from Borough Farm or Taffu farm. So even though they were "living together", those horses would only eat and talk with horses from particular region: Borough or Taffu. And they were only friends with other horses from their region. They harboured nothing but hatred and animosity for horses from other areas. In that way they were branded according to their geographical area, and they kept that brand even though they now all now "lived together" in one central barn. Plus they fought like crazy, unable to truly generate a feeling of oneness. Seeing their brands, farmers and other animals were just laughing at the hypocrisy of such horses. Those horses tried to proclaim that they were united as horses in a single barn; but, in truth, they retained their old factional identities and branded themselves as Borought horses, or Taffu horses etc. And the fierce fighting continued - with seemingly no end in sight. And still today it is like that. Those horses cannot give up their brands and live together peacefully.

                                                ABOUT THE PARABLE

Regarding the above parable, is that not exactly what we are witnessing in the wake of the recent Tiljala unity meeting. Two warring groups had a meeting in order to unite themselves, yet afterwards they all kept their old group affiliation: "I am KA (Kolkata Administration)" or "I am TF (Third Front)". So even though they held a "unity meeting", they still identified with and branded themselves as a members of their own separate group camp, i.e. KA or TF.

That is why many are saying this was just a so-called unity meeting or a bogus unity meeting. Because in truth, not a shred of unity happened. Only those two groups reinforced their old factional alliances. It is all just a case of hypocrisy - nothing more. They are claiming unity with their tongues but in reality they are totally locked into their old group camps.

                                                 THEN AND NOW:

THE SITUATION AFTER THE RECENT UNITY MEETING

In the neo-humanistic outlook of Ananda Marga, all are human and no one should be identified as being from a certain group. But now look what has happened.

In the past all group affiliations were hidden. No one wanted to label themselves in any way. No one wanted to claim that they were part of a particular group. Rather all wanted to be thought of as being beyond all narrow sentiments. They were saying that others were making groups, but would deny that they themselves were part of any group.

Yet now we find that in the wake of the recent unity meeting, they are all openly recognising their groupist affiliations in front of all: KA (Kolkata Administration) and TF (Third Front). And of course we know that sitting in their own turf is the Ranchi faction.

                                        JUST LIKE SHAMELESS ADDICTS

The situation is just like a person who at first does not want to smoke or drink in front of their elders. But then once that person becomes totally debauched and addicted to drugs and alcohol, then that same person will leave all their shame behind and openly drink and smoke in front of their esteemed family members.

A similar fall has occurred with today's groupists. In the past they would never openly admit that they were part of a group. Yet now they have lost all shame and worry and they proudly state their group affiliation. Indeed, in the wake of the recent "unity meeting" they have branded themselves as being KA or TF.

That is why many say that the recent unity meeting in Tiljala is totally bogus and devoid of any ideological integrity. Those group leaders who actively participated in the unity meeting on 25 - 27 March do not treat themselves as being disciples of Baba. Rather they classify themselves according to their own geo-sentiment.

                                                  BABA'S GUIDELINE

For real unity, a distinct universal feeling is a must. Branding oneself as being KA or TF will never give rise to unity.

Baba says, "In this world we find different varieties of group sentiment and socio-sentiment. For example, a small group may be composed of only a very few people, which we call a family. There are still larger groups, such as castes, communities,(1) tribes and nationalities; and behind all those groups the same mental weakness, the same psychic disease, is operating. As a consequence of this disease, people confine themselves within a particular group, and due to this confinement, they suffer from different types of complexes...Within a gang of thieves, one of them says appreciatively, “Oh! The sleight-of-hand of such-and-such other thief is marvellous – he has made a fool of me!” Here one pickpocket is praising another, because they belong to the same group. But one who does not belong to that gang of pickpockets will never appreciate it." (NH-LOI,

I anticipate that Baba will be gracious and those who have fallen in the quagmire of narrow sentiments will rise up and become true human beings and not just confine themselves to being KA and TF etc.

Namaskar,
Divyajyoti

Note: Of course it is obvious to all that those in the Ranchi camp are yet another group. They did not have a big part in the above story but that does not mean they are devoid of groupist feelings. To the contrary, they are drowned in that as well.
