Baba

== DMS NEWS: UNCULUTRED DANCE IN CULTURAL PROGRAM ==

Namaskar,
The RAWA cultural program at the May 2012 DMS displayed some things that we should all be aware about.

HOW SRI PATHAK DIRECTS THE PROGRAMS

First off, the program itself was directed and organised, once again, by Sri Mrinal Pathak.

Here it should be understood that Mr Pathak earns his livelihood by directing dance / dramas for the general society. This is how he earns his food; so he is well-accustomed to creating programs that suit the Hollywood taste of the common public. That means he regularly uses 16-21 year-old boys and girls in his programs. And he encourages them to dance and sing together. Mr. Pathak's shows are designed in the ways of Bollywood and Hollywood. There is an open degree of sensuality in his performances.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE DANCE PROGRAM

For example, at his recently displayed performances at Ananda Nagar in May 2012:

(a) All females aged 16-21 danced with their mid-section totally uncovered. That means the entire region from just above their waist to just below their chest was totally bare.

(b) All males aged 16-21 danced with their entire top exposed, from the waist up. Males were only wearing a dhoti; their upper body was totally naked.

(c) These males and females - or young men and women - were dancing on the stage together, holding and touching one another, according to the role of their characters. In that way they were in each other's grasp.

We know of course that per the Ananda Marga system, adult males and females should not dance together on the stage; indeed, no females should dance in front of a male audience. That is just one crude scene. And our RAWA stage is not a night-club, where all kinds of sensual acts are put on display

(d) The males also had shaved all the hair from their underarm; this was visible to all. Of course we know this is totally against Baba's guidelines of 16 points, i.e. "Do not cut the hair of the joints of the body." This gives the wrong message to the audience.

(e) Amazingly, the theme of the show was how youths prepare their mind to become avadhutas and avadhutikas. Yet, in reality, the entire program only served to goad people's minds toward sensuality - not towards divinity. Our RAWA programs should goad the mind from muladhara cakra to the sahasara cakra - not sahasrara to muladhara. So see what Mr Pathak's dance program did - that is the irony.

SENSUALITY AND PSEUDO-CULTURE

IMPOSED ON THE AUDIENCE

Indeed, all of the above sets a tone of extreme sensuality and pseudo-culture. Never was such a degrading performance ever allowed to be done in front of Baba. Yet now this has become a regular feature of DMS where our dadas and didis, males and females, including margiis young and old, are essentially forced to watch these degrading displays again and again. It is completely against the spirit of our RAWA programs.

AC ACINTANANDJI PUBLICLY APPRECIATED MR PATHAK'S WORK

And now, our top Dadas herald such events. It is really quite shocking. See here how  Ac Acintanandji - the RAWA in-charge - spoke in such glowing terms about this program.

"Mrinal Pathakji is establishing Ananda Marga bhagavad dharma through these cultural programs. His work is unparalleled. He is a true dharmika. With Rawa, dance dharma will be established gradually. Everyone should follow in his footsteps." - Dada Acintananda

WHAT DID YOU EXPERIENCE

Those who attended please write what other things you experienced.

Sincerely,
LiilaKrsna Deva

Purport:

Baba, You came and coloured everything in the divine color of effulgence and ideology. There is no beginning and end of Your magnificent love; You coloured everything. You Yourself ignited the fire of ideology in the sleeping and frustrated hearts of the people. And You filled their sunken, hopeless hearts with divine love. In this entire universe there is no comparison of what You did and of what You have done: How You poured Your loving grace unto one and all.

Baba, You brought a basket full of heavenly blessings along with You to distribute. And You showered and saturated the animate and inanimate worlds with that divine grace. You gave the direction to all: Live and let live. And You gave the teaching how one can grow physically, psychically, and spiritually. You fulfilled all the requirements to the highest capacity, done in such a way that, even in the future, nobody will say that they need anything more.

Baba, since eternity You have been residing in the core of everyone's heart and mind. And You are living and You will go on living with everyone up to infinite time through Your ota and prota yoga. The serpentine noose of maya will be ripped to shreds with Your divine liila, "dharma moves secretly and does everything". And it will lead me to the divine Goal, You.

Baba You came and saturated everything with Your infinite grace. You have filled everyone's heart...

Underlying Reasons Behind Mess At DMS

Baba

== UNDERLYING REASONS BEHIND MESS AT DMS ==

Namaskar,
In the wake of the recent goings-on in Ananda Nagar, some have been led to conclude that a single DMS was held. With a balanced mind we should determine how far this is accurate. We should also understand the forces at play behind the mess at this January 2012 DMS.

Please consider the following and share your thoughts.

THOUGHTS ABOUT NEW YEAR'S DMS 2012

1. Late in the game, i.e. at the end of 2011, the Tiljala Administration (a.k.a. B group) petitioned for a court injunction to hold their winter DMS in December - as opposed to having to wait until January. Tiljala got a favourable review by the courts and were granted the December time slot. By this way they were able to hold DMS on Dec 29, 30 & 31. And as we all know that is what happened.

MORE ABOUT THE COURT DRAMA

1a. Indeed this court drama started in one court, went to another court, and then returned back to the original court. During the December month itself of 2011, B group approached the District Administrative Court of Purulia, then Ranchi made a plea with the High court of Kolkata and finally the case was referred back to the District Administrative Court of Purulia. This was the see-saw battle going on in the courts during the month of December 2011. Ultimately B group got what they wanted, yet through it all the mass of margii were confused and in the dark over who was controlling what at Ananda Nagar and why.

VIEWS FROM THE TWO CAMPS

2. Prior to Dec 2011/12, the Tiljala Administration was generally holding their winter DMS in January. But they repeatedly complained that if they could hold DMS in late December then their attendance would be stellar.

3. So little by little B group made plans and appealed to gain access of the Ananda Nagar pandal for December.

4. Needless to say, the Ranchi side was not happy about this. For years they were the ones who held their winter DMS on Dec 30, 31 & Jan 1. But this winter they lost those dates and were forced to hold their DMS in January. And that is what they did.

5. Clearly then there were two DMS, no one can conclude that a single DMS was held. Furthermore, who can deny that the events leading up to DMS and DMS itself was pur chaos. And more proof is given below.

WHAT WAS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR BEHIND THIS MESS

6. The question is why this all this occur? And the reason is quite clear. Far more margiis attend Ranchi DMS programs than the Kolkata DMS programs. Year after year that has been the case. So Kolkata group planned that if they could somehow snatch away the Ranchi DMS dates - late in the year after margiis had already made their travel plans - then they (Kolkata) would be able to steer those margiis to their own DMS. That was their only and entire motivation.

7. More of this history is as follows. B group used to justify and complain that their winter DMS was exponentially smaller than the Ranchi DMS because Ranchi had their December dates into the new year. B group put forth the claim that if they had those dates than people naturally would appreciate and attend their DMS.

But, what they failed to examine was why the attendance at the Ranchi summer DMS far more than the B group summer DMS. After all, during summer the dates are not fixed - rather they are always changing. Yet in this program too, Tiljala camp had far less people at their DMS. This itself proves that dates alone do not determine the attendance at DMS. So B group's logic the dates were the main issue for their small winter DMS attendance does not hold water.

The truth is that mass of margiis of Delhi sector prefer the Ranchi group and their DMS program. People basically think that Ranchi is the main structure or the original organisation. Ranchi - not Kolkata - is viewed as the legal administration by the courts and govt. How far this last statement is logical or really true in this present condition is debatable. But what is clear is that Ranchi has consistently drawn higher numbers.

WINNERS AND LOSERS

8. By changing the dates for this recent DMS, the Kolkata camp had everything to gain, and virtually nothing to lose. Because in years past their typical numbers at DMS were paltry. They could not do any worse by changing the dates.

9. In stark contrast, the Ranchi side had everything to lose by this date change. They were consistently attracting large numbers to their DMS programs and people were habituated to arrive for their program on Dec 30. But now that date was no longer theirs. And indeed they lost big. That was the price they paid by not being more vigilant in handling this ordeal with the courts.

10. Ranchi's only option then was to adopt more forceful policies. So to prevent the loss of all their regular attendees, they tried hard to keep maximum margiis in the Prout Bhavan and the Kiirtan Mandap, since B group had rights to the Pandal on Dec 30 & 31. So Ranchi was busy in damage control, i.e. trying to lose the least number of margiis.

11. In stark contrast, B group had the pandal and was doing everything possible to increase their numbers and take full advantage of the situation. Since the mass of margiis sleep in the pandal, it was very convenient for those margiis to remain there for DMS. Secondly, B group discarded the system of needing a gate pass to attend. By this way they thought that the maximum people would come in their contact and they could take measures to keep them in their group camp.

THERE WAS NOT UNITY

12. This then is a snap-shot of the scene and anyone with a balanced mind will easily conclude that there were 2 DMS programs, not 1. All will understand that this DMS was a mess where unity was nowhere in sight.

After all unity does not come by collecting people in one state, one region or even one place. The 20 or 30 people at a bus stand also do not constitute unity, nor does a movie theatre filled with 500 or 700 attendees. In such cases, every person is there with their own plan and their own program. As we know unity stems from within, following the same spiritual goal and working in coordinated fashion to manifest Baba's teachings on this earth.

Baba says, "Human unity is purely an ideological unity, which means unity in the psychic sphere. Where there is psychic unity, physical unity will also occur. In the realm of unity, unity is always psychic – ideological unity means unity in the subtlest level of the mind. However, psychic or ideological unity may be affected if we encourage the exploitation of one group by another." (PNS-15, Talks on Prout)

SUMMARY

In review here are some of the key points to know about the recent DMS scene at Ananda Nagar.

* On January 1, 2012, each of the three rival groups held their own separate Ananda Vanii readings. They each selected their own chosen Vanii and met with their own followers in separate locations. Does this look like the atmosphere of one DMS? Does this not seem like a mess.

* To deter people from attending the B group DMS, H group made it clear that B group attendeess would not be welcome at their January 1-3, 2012 program.

* During December 30/31, H group was vigilant in keeping margiis in their own campus under their own watch and care. They were busy keeping the margiis at the Prout bhavan and kiirttan mandap. Plus they were doing collective programs like bhajan, kiirttan, and organisational meetings wherever their group had control in the jagrti, or Ba'ba' quarter etc.

* Kinshuk's formal DMS speech and the Ranchi group kiirtan were going on simultaneously. With full exuberance Ranchi group used firecrackers and noise-makers to start their kiirtan. Those in the pandal at the B group DMS reported that it was thereby difficult to hear Kinshuk's speech.

* B group's entire aim by getting the December DMS dates was to get more attendees by encroaching on Ranchi's regular DMS dates.

* Ranchi knew they were in danger of losing masses of people to the B group DMS so they employed various techniques of damage control. They engaged margiis in their own areas during the B group DMS and the set down the law then those attending B group DMS would not be allowed to enter the Ranchi DMS.

HOW TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER

Instead of resorting to trickery, guile and deceit to maximize their DMS attendance. We should all allow margiis due freedom to attend the program they prefer.

This year people not aware about what was going on until they reached there and even then they have little ability to change or do anything since their travel plans and lodging were set.

Thus we will have to wait until next year to determine the situation. If really all margiis reach on 30 Dec for DMS and then remain for Dec 31 and Jan 1 and then leave, then we say it is one DMS. But if other DMS type programs are going on before or after that, then who can think there is unity.

The mess at the January 2012 DMS proves that it was not one. It may have looked like one for those with vision problems. Such people may also conluded that the khumbha mela is also one, when in fact it is divided up by countless priests.

Those thinking groupism is vanishing away are not aware of reality, rather at this DMS it was very poisonous. In India, they used to forcibly marry boys and girls, and that created lifelong problems for that married couple. We should not replicate such a thing in our Marga. AM cannot become united by the force of the courts. As humans we have a mind and a heat and must study Baba's teachings and unify around His ideology.

Namaskar,
Nagendra

Baba, day and night, in the viina of my heart, only one tune is resonating in my melancholic heart. O' my dearmost Baba please come. In the deep core of my mind only one tune is swinging: O' Baba, You are not far away, You are not far, You are so close, You are with me.

Baba, when I see You in my karmayajina*, then I see You are remaining there also. Baba, You are with me in all the works. O' Baba, please come, O' Baba please come.

With the full longing of my heart, in whichever direction I look, there is nothing else that I can see except for Your divine form. O' my Lord of Formlessness, with the resonance of the ever-new song, dance, & form, please allow Yourself to be held in my heart.

O' Baba, please come, O' Baba please come...

*Karmayajina: The work done with cosmic ideation is known as karmayajina; that alone is proper action. Thus karmayajina is any action or service done with the sole motive to please Parama Purus'a. In contrast those things done devoid of cosmic feeling, such selfish activities are called kriya'-- and that leads to bondage. So only those works done with spiritual ideation come within the scope of karmayajina.

We Should Take Lesson

Baba

== RE: STUPID KING OF BLIND CABINET ==

Note: This letter is in reply to one group's false allegations.

Namaskar,
I totally agree: It is both shameful and sinful to give a higher place to PP Dada than to our Revered Baba during any DMS program.

On the DMS stage, PP Dada can be 1/2 foot high but in that case Revered Baba's place must be 5 feet high. Baba's place must be clearly above and unparalleled.
Unfortunately, at the recent 2011 Ananda Purnima DMS, the organisers did not do like this. Rather, they placed PP Dada on a pedestal higher than our Beloved Guru Baba.

It is also true that various top Dadas see PP merely as a political pawn to put forth their own agenda. That is why they prop up the status of PP. That has been going on since 1990.

But as stated in the original letter of this thread (link appended below), the post of PP is social not spiritual. Yet some Dadas, with - an ulterior motive in mind - have designated PP Dada as the spiritual head. But that just is not so - Purodha Pramukha is a social post. All the reasons posted about this earlier are appended at the bottom of this email.

Now I wish to bring up my new point.

REBUTTAL TO H GROUP'S BOGUS CLAIM

Here today I also wish to give a reply to Ranchi's false justification of 20 June 2011 which is appended below. Apparently they did not like the first posting on this topic, but since they had no logic and reasoning to stand on they came up with one bogus allegation.

They called the photo of PP Dada at DMS "fabricated" and "confusing". Yet what they failed to state is that this is the very photo which Ranchi themselves distributed across the entire globe. This is the photo which is featured on their own sponsored website. No one altered this photo in any way. This is their photo. They are the ones who took the picture of PP Dada Vishvadevananda sitting above Baba on the DMS stage. No one else took this photo and no one fabricated it in any way.

As proof of all this, please see the attached screenshot which details how this photo was published on their official Ananda Parivara website newsletter. Ananda Parivara is the official NY newsletter from the Ranchi front. In addition we have attached a jpg version of that same picture. But again, they are the ones who brought this photo to fore. It is their work from start to finish. Thus they are in no position to accuse anyone of "fabricating" the photo.

Indeed team Ranchi could not logically reply to any of the substantive points raised:
(a) PP was seated in a higher and more respectful place than Baba;
(b) PP is social post not a spiritual one;
(c) top Dadas manipulated PP for their selfish gain;
(d) and more.

Since they had no reply to any of the above, Ranchi had to scramble for some other allegation. So they came up with their false accusation that "someone fabricated the photo".

This was their false and utterly ridiculous attempt. They accused "someone" of posting a deceptive photo of PP on the DMS stage. But that is entirely wrong because they were the ones who took this photo of PP Dada sitting on a higher level than Revered Baba. And they uploaded it to the internet for all to see. Yet they levied an accusation against someone else.

WHAT PEOPLE DO WHEN THEY HAVE NO LOGIC

And that is exactly what Baba says people do when they are devoid of logic and reasoning - they make bogus allegations.

Baba says, "Where reasoning fails, vilification becomes the sole stock-in-trade. When you hear abuses from these frogs-in-the-well, you can take for granted that the grey matter in their frenzied brains have no functional residues left and that they have come to you only to convince you of their helpless and fey [crazy] condition." (Subhasita Samgraha, Part 3, Shreya & Preya)

Thus team Ranchi put forth their false allegation because they had no legs to stand on.

STILL THEY MAY CONTINUE TO CRY OUT

Even then - still to this day - those at the helm of Ranchi may say that "it was the camera angle" or "it was the side from where it was taken" or any other ludicrous justification they might give. But you know that?

There is no way for them to escape this truth. The stage was small and it was all plain as day what happened. There is no question that a camera angle ruined the scene. The photo was undignified simply because the reality of the way things were set-up on the DMS stage was totally improper. Guru must be given a far higher place than PP. The fact that PP's seat was higher than Baba's is their fault, not the fault of those circulating the photo. Only in-charges suffering from a low-minded outlook could have set-up the stage in this way. That was the misfortune, not anything else.

CLOSING REMARKS

The following are some concluding points to keep in mind.

The ideal way for the DMS stage to be set up is to have Baba's photo elevated at least 5 feet off the ground. Then there is no doubt or hairline measurements about who has the highest seat and who is the Revered One. Then PP can sit on some sort of cushion if he wishes, whereby he is a few inches off the ground or 1/2 foot if needed.

Many of the general margiis and field workers in attendance did indeed feel uncomfortable and devotionally wounded by seeing PP's seat above that of Baba. So it is not just a photo that is wrong. The entire ambiance and aura of the DMS was negatively affected by this. Just ask those rational-minded margiis and Wts who attended.

REVERENCE TO GURU

Let us all contemplate this below teaching. By this way it is sure no such mistake will occur on our DMS stage again.

Baba says, "Trtiiyaḿ Gurupújanam. I must have reverence for the Guru. What is the Guru? “Gu” means “darkness”, that is, darkness in the psycho-spiritual sphere. And “Ru” means “dispelling agent.” That is, he who dispels darkness from my psychic and spiritual body is the Guru. “Gu” means “darkness”, “Ru” means “dispeller”. “Trtiiyaḿ Gurupújanam.” That is, you must have respect for the Guru." (Ananda Vacanamrtam-12, Shiva's Seven Secrets)

Namaskar,
Cinmay

Note 1: PLACE OF GURU IN TANTRA & PP IS A SOCIAL POST

Here below are two section of the earlier letter on this topic.

PLACE OF GURU IN TANTRA

Let's begin with a quick review of our tantra tradition.

As we know, we do guru dhyana at the sahasrara cakra. That is the highest point of the human experience. That spot signifies deep regard and reverence. It is the pinnacled point of the human mind. Indeed that is the tradition in tantra: To goad the mind upwards, never lower.

And indeed in all aspects of our spiritual life, Guru's place is the highest and the most revered. Nobody is above or on par with Guru. This is the main teaching of tantra.

Because when Baba is the Guru and He is Taraka Brahma and perfect in all respects, then naturally His status is unparalleled.

Baba says, "The one formless, beginningless and infinite Parama Brahma (Supreme Consciousness) is the only entity to be attained by living beings – That alone is Jagat Guru (the Supreme preceptor), That alone has revealed Brahmavidya´ (intuitional science) to us through the medium of the name and form of Anandamu´rtijii. Unit beings must be made to appreciate Its majesty." (Caryacarya, part 2, Sadhana, point #1a)

Yet some for their selfish reasons are trying to prop up PP Dada - i.e. one mere mortal born in bondage and prone to avidya maya - as being the revered one. Indeed this drama has been going on in one way or another since 1990.

So we should investigate why this is being done and clear the air.

PP IS A SOCIAL POST - NOT A SPIRITUAL ONE

First off, we should all understand that the post of Purodha Pramukha is a social one, not a spiritual post. Here are the reasons why:

(A) Caryacarya itself is our social scripture. And CC-1 lays out the social duties of purodha pramukha. PP Dada's duty is to act as head of this worldly organisation AMPS. In this capacity, PP is the "chief of the purodhas".

(B) PP has zero ability to arrange his own mukti & moksa; in that case what can he do for others in this regard. Nothing. PP is himself not liberated and obviously cannot grant that to others. This furthermore shows that his post is purely social, not spiritual.

(C) PP cannot give any new scripture or shastra. Our AM scripture is perfect and complete - all delivered by Guru Himself. If PP wishes to write a story or commentary he may do so. But he is unable to contribute even one syllable to the shastras of Ananda Marga.

(D) Organizational executive decisions related with social affairs must reach to Purodha Pramukha for his discretionary review. This is one of his social duties.

(E) PP's post is lifelong - not longer than that.

(F) In the Purodha Board, PP's single vote has decisive meaning, though his order can be overturned. Hence, PP's order is not final; his decisions are subject to review.

(G) Each of the judiciary decisions also must reach to Purodha Pramukha for his final approval. This again deals with the social sphere.

(H) Purodha Pramukha is chief of the purodhas - which is a social board in our AMPS.

(I) PP Dada has no great spiritual power anointed to him by God. Just he is one purodha selected by his peers to serve as the chief of the board.

(J) Plus PP has so many more social duties and responsibilities.

By all this it is quite clear that the post of Purodha Pramukha is a social post - not a spiritual one - in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha.

In our Caryacarya, Baba has given various provisions about the social post of Purodha Pramukha. The post of PP is just one of the many social posts in the organization wherein PP Dada deals with worldly affairs, not spiritual emancipation etc.

The question remains: When the position of purodha pramukha is clearly a social post, then why do some try to turn it into a spiritual one by giving maximum reverence to PP Dada and placing his seat higher than Baba's.

Note 2: RANCHI GROUP ACCUSATION

In the section cited below, you will find Ranchi group attempt to deflect the wrongdoing elsewhere by levying a false allegation.

Power of Holy Water of Jamalpur

Baba

== POWER OF HOLY WATER OF JAMALPUR ==

Namaskar,
Here is a short yet highly significant update from the recently held Jamalpur DMS.

                                               THE SCENE

1. As you may know, Kali Pahar is one of the hills of Jamalpur where Baba used to walk. At the recent Jamalpur DMS, margiis were encouraged to collect and carry water (read as "holy water) from a spring on that hilltop all the way back to their unit.

How did this happen - what was the need? Well Dadas had their agenda in mind to give importance to the Jamalpur tiirtha program so they propagandized about the "holy water" of Kali Pahar. By this way they could build their tiirtha dynasty to create revenue. That was their impetus for creating this holy water ploy.

On the other end, certain naive and simple margiis participated in this ritual of collecting so-called holy water in hopes of a quick-fix or shortcut way to get some grace. And others participated because it was similar to the Hindu dogma that they grew up with.

Naturally, those margiis with a developed ideological understanding did not participate.

                               HOLY WATER OR POLLUTED WATER

 2. All in all, the recent scene at Kali Pahar uniquely resembles how dogmatic Hindus collect and carry water from the Ganges. Such dogmatic Hindus think this is holy water even though it is filthy dirty. "Ganga jal", as it is called, is sold at a costly rate around the globe. Religious traders and exploiters present it as being holy water, when in truth it nothing but polluted water from the so-called holy Ganges. But with this polluted Ganges water they those dogmatic priests make huge money.

Here below Baba points out the absurdity of thinking that the Ganges - or any water for that matter - is holy.

Baba says, "If merely a dip in the Ganges made one holy, then the fish that are always in the river would be the most virtuous and holy. Pilgrims do not gain morally or spiritually from their holy baths, but, on the contrary, have to suffer bitter experiences – physical troubles, loss of money, mental anxiety, and humiliation at the hands of robbers and thieves." (Ananda Vacanamrtam, part 33, Samádhi and Mrtyu)

WALKING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GANGJAL

3. Here is a short sampling how such dogmatic priests and businessmen promote this so-called holy water from the Ganges or Gangajal.

"Gangajal commands a high value in Indian culture.  No ceremony, from birth to death, is complete and perfect without Gangajal. According to Maharishi Vedvyas the only way to fight the malefic effects of the Kalyuga, the holy water of Ganga should be used in all the religious ceremonies. If kept in the copper ‘Kalash’ in homes it gives holy vibrations and fights away evil and bad luck. It endows material prosperity and spiritual growth." (http://www.gangajal.com/)

So this is how the dogmatic Hindus have promoted the Gangajal, or Ganges holy water.

In a similar fashion, soon we will see Kali Pahar water sold at DMS, seminars and even on-line and mail order.
In order to pitch the business, stories will be propagated that someone with Alzheimer's or AIDS was cured by this "holy water", i.e. Kali Pahar Jal. Plus they will say how cancer, autism, heart disease are also fully curable. This "holy water" will have all the answers for today's problems. This is their message. Today they orally tell like this and soon they will have a developed business model reflecting this approach.

After all, some of our opportunistic Dadas are not dumb; they figure why should we not en-cash on this like Hindus priests have done.

                               PHENOMENON OF KALI PAHAR JAL

4. Now certain margiis have their own jal: Kali Pahar Jal or Jamalpur jal. This is the latest dogma that is unfolding. This time senior Dadas were able to convince margiis to collect and carry such water back to their home.

5. The going myth is that one drop of this water is enough to cure one of sickness. Plus this water is needed at every AM ceremony: baby naming, marriage blessing, shraddha etc.

6. Thus the "phenomenon" of Kali Pahar jal is no different from the Hindu dogma of gangajal.

                                              A CASH COW

7. Why are Dadas encouraging this?

Such dogmas give more power to religious traders, i.e. the priests. It is an easy business. Common citizens are forced to reach to that place to collect and purchase their holy water. Then an entire enterprise is formed around this dogma with the potential for huge monetary gain. People get duped into thinking that the only way to be graced in this world is to gather and collect Kali Pahar jal. That is defective mindset. And for Dadas this is a big money-maker.

8. In contrast, if one propagates the dharmic point that Baba's grace is everywhere and is not limited to a certain place or to a certain jug of water, then that will rapidly undo the Kali Pahar dogma. So such Dadas do not talk about this. Just they promote the Hindu dogma of "holy water".

9. This is not limited to any particular group in our Marga. All the groups are fascinated by the concept of making big dollars and euros from dogmatic rituals. It is the ultimate get-rich-quick model.

That is why one can get such holy water in Tiljala as well by the site of the tomb. Hence all the leading groups do such things.

                                             BABA'S TEACHING:

                            SEEK HIM WITHIN NOT WITHOUT

10. Here below is Baba's dharmic teaching where He vividly opposes such dogmas like Ganagjal and Kali Pahar Jal.

Baba says, "Now, if people, instead of searching for Him in their own “I” feeling, roam about in the external world, they will certainly meet with disappointment: they will have to undergo unnecessary troubles and frustrations, and Parama Puruśa will remain unrealized."

Átmanasthiitaḿ shivaḿ tyaktvá vahiśt́haḿ yah samarcayet
                        Hastasthaḿ pińd́am utsrjya bhramate jiivitáshayá.

"How unreasonable it is to search externally for the Supreme Entity instead of searching within! It is like throwing away the foodstuff in one’s own hand, and then complaining of hunger and begging for alms from door to door. On the one hand Parama Puruśa is very vast; on the other hand He is very small. He is so vast that you cannot fully see Him." (SS-12, The Secret of Dharma Lies Hidden in the Mind)

11. Baba's divine presence is pervasive. He resides within each and every entity - within the heart of every bhakta. Thus none should fall prey to the latest groupist money-making scheme, i.e. Kali Pahar Jal.

Namaskar,

                       PRABHATA SAMGIITA

Baba has given this following song to warn those who are demons in human
form, who by their nefarious work are destroying the peace by spreading
poison and bringing disaster.

"Manus' manus' ha'ra'ye hunsha kotha'y calecho tumi. A'ka'sh ba'ta's
bis'iye diye narak kare marttyabhu'mi..." (PS 1190)

Purport:

Why have you lost your rational sense and started moving on the path of
annihilation and ruination. You made this golden earth poisonous with the
domination of your disastrous theories, i.e. the dogma of groupism etc. You
threw away the high ideals of spirituality and you forgot the eternal truth
that whatever strength you are getting, that is coming from Him...Parama
Purusa...Baba... He is the source. So you lost the sense and you do not
like to understand that, to pulverize your ego, the trident of Parama
Purusa is active...

              Food Affects Protoplasmic Cells

Baba says, "Whatever I get, that I will eat" - this must not be the
policy of a sane being. This human body is a composite of protoplasmic
cells, and these protoplasmic cells are made of the food we take in. If
the food and drink is defective, then the protoplasmic cells will also
become defective, and the human mind, which is the collective mind of so
many protoplasmic minds, will also become defective. That is why
ta'masik or static food has a negative influence on the human mind."

BABA

== BABA STORY ABOUT SERIOUS INJUSTICE ==

Namaskar,
Here is one key event from the 2011 DMS at Ananda Nagar (January) that we should collectively review. It is deeply related with one Baba story. First let's tell the Baba story and then we will narrate the critical happening from the January 2011 DMS.

                                               BABA STORY:

                         PRIZES WRONGLY AWARDED AT DMC

As per the custom, with pomp and show, prizes were awarded at the January 1983 DMC at Ananda Nagar. A committee comprised of Wts convened and selected the winners; and, accordingly those recipients received the award at DMC.

After finishing the program, Baba made His exit from the pandal and returned back to the BQ (Baba's Quarters). Baba then called the various in-charges and questioned them about the prizes. Baba then appointed a team to further investigate the matter. The investigative team quickly reported back to Baba and confirmed that the selection process had been biased and that the prizes had been given to undeserving and unworthy candidates.

Baba immediately called all the workers to His room and He harshly scolded those Dadas on the selection committee for their partiality and favouritism. Baba told them that the work of a judge is an honourable duty yet they had denigrated the position by their sour dealings. What they had done was shameful and deplorable. Baba then ordered those guilty Dadas to get down on the ground and press their nose into the floor. They were then told to rub their nose across the carpet for 10 ft. This act was punishment to humiliate them so they could understand their sinful behaviour; there was no injury or physical pain involved as the carpet was soft. As those guilty committee members did like this, the rest of the Wts present chanted, "Shame, Shame...Shame, Shame." Then those guilty Dadas promised those present that they would never commit such sin in the future.

The next day in the DMC pandal, it was announced to everyone that the prizes had been wrongly awarded. The selection committee had been partial. They had failed miserably in carrying out their duty as judge. Theirs was a kangaroo committee. Baba then made those guilty Dadas come up on the stage and beg apology and ask for forgiveness from all those assembled in the DMC pandal.

Baba said to all, "Should they be pardoned?". All present that day approved.

But that was not the end of the situation.

Baba then rebuked those undeserving recipients for accepting the award. Baba demanded that such persons should never have accepted those prizes. Rather they should have stood up and said, "I am not worthy of this award." In this manner Baba strongly blamed both parties involved: The selection committee and the recipients. Baba blamed both parties; all were culprits.

Baba went on to explain in front of everyone that this is not the way to build a healthy human society. The duty of a judge should be carried out responsibly; partiality has no place in our social life. In addition, incompetent persons should never be commended or awarded prizes. Rather deserving people should always be recognised.

In closing, Baba fully ensured that all those prizes were redistributed to worthy candidates.

Everyone who attended that DMC got a big lesson: In our Marga there is no place for partiality and favouritism. All prizes must be awarded in a conscientious manner to deserving people - otherwise both parties are to be blamed: Both the selection committee and the recipients. That is what we should all take away from this story.

YOU CAN ALSO PURCHASE ANY PRIZE IN AM THESE DAYS

Now let's take a look at what occurred at the January 2011 DMS. At that DMS prizes were awarded by PP Dada Vishvadevananda. In particular, someone received the prize as "The Best Bhukti Pradhan". Usually such prizes are given to those BP's who have done great work such as extraordinary pracara or unparalleled social service etc. Otherwise how can they be named as the best bhukti pradhan in the world.

But here in this case, one margii who never attends DC, is slack in 16 Points, and involves in caste marriages was given the prize of best bhukti pradhan. In addition, this margii neither practices sadhana nor asanas regularly, and he indulges in poor food habits. The only qualification he has is money; he is rich. Because of this, he was able to purchase the 2011 January DMS prize: "The Best Bhukti Pradhan" of the entire planet.

Here is the story about that BP.

To keep control of the Hyderabad unit, Dada Savitananda has repeatedly requested Sanjay Goenkaji to serve as the BP of Hyderabad. No election takes place; just he is granted the position outrightly.

At the same time, if you ask Sanjay Goenka if he attends DC at the jagrti in Hyderabad, then he will reply negatively. Indeed it is commonly known that Sanjay Goenka does not regularly attend dharmacakra at the jagrti - plus many are aware that Sanjay Goenka is quite lax in 16 Pts and he follows casteism. All the marriages in his family are arranged within his own caste, i.e. the marwarai business community of India. One should not forget that this community is notorious for sucking the blood of others.

The question comes: Why is Goenkaji automatically granted the post of BP by Savitananda? Answer: Because Sanjay Goenka is a moneyed man. He has money and he gives big money to certain Dadas in the organisation. For that reason he is given the BP post year after year after year.

Now we come to the real issue.

At the January 2011 Ananda Nagar DMS, PP Dada (i.e. Vishvadevananda) awarded Sanjay Goenka the prize of "The Best Bhukti Pradhan" of the entire world - and Goenkaji accepted.

Yet we all know that Baba says that every bhukti pradhan must be very diligent in 16 Points. The BP must be sincere in sadhana, and follow all the personal points like asanas, fasting, use of water and much more. And the BP of course must attend dharmacakra and oppose dogmas like the caste system. Across Delhi sector and throughout the globe we have countless BP's who are very sincere in attending to all of Sixteen Points; indeed there are so many deserving and qualified candidates. Yet "The Best Bhukti Pradhan" prize was awarded to Sanjay Goenka of Hyderabad, someone who does not even regularly attend the weekly dharmacakra at the jagrti.

Is this not shameful.

According to the teaching from the above Baba story, both the selection committee and the recipient should be rebuked harshly. They should be punished and made to rub their nose on the ground in front of all at dharmacakra and the next DMS. Otherwise they will have to face consequences for their sinful dealing life after life. If anyone is not punished for their adharmic misdeeds, they cannot escape from the Cosmic Operative Principle. So the selection committee must atone for their sin and beg apology in front of all and Goenka should stand up and say that he is not deserving of this prize. Then and only then will things be righted.

Unfortunately, the selection committee was partial and unjust, and the recipient was unworthy. It is as simple as that. It is tragic that those involved failed to learn from Baba's divine example.

                                  THE REAL DETERMINING FACTOR

Here Baba guides us that proper conduct - i.e. strict adherence to 16 Points - is the requisite factor for determining one's worth. Then one is deserving of receiving a top prize like "Best Bhukti Pradhan" - otherwise not.

Baba says, "Your ideal is represented by your conduct. Your learning, your social or economic status have nothing to do with your ideal." (Ananda Vanii #13)

Thus money and social status have nothing to do with being worthy of a prize. It must be based purely on one's dharmic conduct. Yet Sanjay Goenka received the prize exclusively because of his financial wealth. There is no other reason.

BLACK PACT BETWEEN CAPITALISTS & PRIESTS

Why did this terrible injustice happen with the "Best BP "prize? Here following is the reason given by Baba.

Baba says, "Capitalism will never go against the priesthood nor will priests go against capitalism." (PNS-15, Talks on Prout)

As Baba explains above there is a black pact between capitalists (Sanjay Goenka) and the priest class (our Acaryas etc). Here we should all remember that the term priest means acarya, avadhuta, and those attending to religious / dharmic duties.

Baba furthermore describes this problem.

Baba says, "Religious exploiters maintain an unholy alliance with the capitalistic exploiters. With hands upraised, a religious preceptor blesses the wealthy merchants for their future prosperity but refuses to see the faces of his poor disciples who fail to provide handsome prańámii (a fee for the priest’s blessing)." (AMIWL-7)

Similarly, PP Dada & Co were quick to recognise Sanjay Goenka because of his wealth while all those sincere margiis were skipped over by the prize committee.

HOW TO PREVENT THIS IN THE FUTURE

Those judges who select the recipients of the prizes are the main culprits as they plunged themselves into partiality. Here then Baba provides us with the key way to prevent such serious injustices in the future. Baba wants that judges should be ideal as noted below.

Baba says, "Judges should be carefully selected from among those whose strength of character is irrefutable." (HS-1)

When this is done - when our judges are of sterling character - then we will not witness such sinful events like PP Dada bestowing a prestigious prize upon a totally undeserving candidate like Sanjay Goenka.

Namaskar,
Ishvara

Note:                 PLEASE FORWARD TO SANJAY GOENKA

Please send this letter to Sanjay Goenka and if you do not know his email address then send this letter to his relation, SS Goenka. This will help Sanjay Goenka to mend his ways and get the requital of his sins. Finally, if anyone has Sanjay Goenka's email address please send that to me so I can serve him also.

Purport:

Baba, You have come with the shining chariot of divine effulgence. You
have come to take everyone to the divine realm.
You do not differentiate between who is great, who is meagre, & who is
small etc. You listen to everyone's tales-- to everyone's feeling of the
heart.
Baba, even without seeing You, I have loved You. I am always feeling
close & loving towards You. And even when I have not heard about You, I
have been attracted by Your divinity.   Baba, You are so gracious. You
do not make judgements based on one's merits or demerits. You love all,
unconditionally. And I understand that You are always present-- across
all time and space.
O' my dearmost, You have done so much for me, and in return You do
not want anything. In spite of knowing about hundreds of defects in me,
You have made me Yours and accepted me as Your own.
Baba, You have showered Your causeless grace on me. You have come here
on this dusty earth to take everyone onto the path of divinity. Baba,
You are so gracious...

== DMS NEWS #7: BIRTH OF ONE NEW DOGMA ==

Namaskar,
This following first-hand account details one new dogma that took birth at last month's January 2011 DMS in Ananda Nagar.

                             *                          *                         *                          *

When I went to the meditation hall in Baba's Quarter on 1st January 2011, I thought I saw some coins thrown by some sadhakas just below the cot on which Baba's photo was placed.

From a distance, I doubted what I saw so I stepped closer and went to the front side. Then I confirmed that it was indeed a coin. Upon further investigation I found that some margiis were throwing coins and rupees just in front of Baba's photo. Those coins were landing at the same spot where the flowers, pots with coconuts and candles (pradiipa) were placed as decoration. All these coins were tossed just below the cot upon which Baba's photo was placed.

Upon further investigation, it become clear that people were doing this in hopes of getting their selfish desires and requests fulfilled. They were essentially bribing Parama Purusa. In exchange of their monetary offering, they were seeking a daughter's marriage, victory in their court case, getting their enemies destroyed, or a job promotion etc. These were some of the selfish requests they wanted fulfilled by dropping money in front of Baba's photo.

Of course all those in-charges knew this was dogmatic, but because this offering was generating income, such Dadas were not telling them to stop.

I even asked one Dada about this and he said, "Yes, some might have done this." But he did not say anything further.

However, many of us felt that an announcement should have been made this act of dropping coins by Baba's photo was not good. Then margiis - new or old etc - would have gotten the message not to toss coins by Baba's photo.

Instead those in-charges put this coin tossing dogma on open display by letting it continue. By that way more and more began to partake in this dogmatic manner. That was the lesson put forth: Others are doing and you can too.

And again, why was it allowed to be continued? Because ultimately there was an economic benefit involved. The more who participated increased the amount of money those Dadas will get. What else can be the reason why such Dadas did not openly denounce this dogmatic offering from the very beginning.

Of course every rational margiis knows that this type of (crude) offering - i.e. arcana - is an exact copy of the Hindu dogma - about which Baba has instructed us not to follow. Yet that is what I personally saw going on at last month's DMS program at Ananda Nagar.

                             *                          *                         *                          *

                                           BABA'S TEACHINGS ON ARCANA

Here are a few of Baba's teachings on this topic.

(1) In this first below guideline, Baba clearly tells us that offering money at His photo has nothing to do with devotion.

Baba says, 'Bhakti cannot be identified with árcaná either, which means to worship the deity with flowers, leaves, [holy] water or other articles [like money]." (Ananda Vacanamrtam, Part 33)

(2) Then in Ananda Sutram Baba warns us that those who ask for their selfish interests to be fulfilled by giving money to Parama Purusa are merely indulging in useless prayers.

                                    3-11: Prárthanárcaná mátraeva bhramamúlam.

[Prayer and ritualistic worship become a source of confusion.]

Purport: It is useless to pray to God for something, for He is sure to give what is necessary. Solicitation or importunity in the name of worship is nothing but toadyism and flattery." (Ananda Sutram, 3-11)

Baba's teaching is that Parama Purusa will do what is required for the proper development of each and every person, so to ask for something - when He already knows what is best for you - is just one defective manner and undermines one's relation with Parama Purusa.

(3) Next Baba differentiates between selfish and selfless puja. Clearly that type of puja where money is offered is nothing but arcana, i.e. that puja done with "selfish motive and external paraphernalia".

Baba says, "Now, what is pu´ja´ or pu´jana? When a person, with or without any selfish motive, offers his or her deep reverence to an entity with undivided concentration, with or without external paraphernalia such as flowers, bel leaves, sandalwood paste, Ganges water, basil, bananas, rice, etc., that is called pu´ja´ or pu´jana. And the type of worship which is performed with selfish motive and external paraphernalia is called arca´ or arcana´. The type of worship which is performed with or without selfish motive, but certainly without any specific external paraphernalia, is called pra´rthana´. And the special type of pu´ja´ which is performed without any selfish motive or external paraphernalia is called Brahmasadbha´va [ideation of Brahma]." Shiva's Teachings – 2 (continued) (Discourse 14)

(4) Here below Baba points out that those who pray to God to give them a job promotion or a husband for their daughter actually send the message to Parama Purusa that He is not fulfilling His duties properly and has forgotten what a person needs. That is what is implied by asking something of Parama Purusa - one is blaming God for failing to do the needful.

Baba says, "Prayer is the act of asking for a favour with earnestness. It also means a solemn petition addressed to the Supreme Being for certain benefits. One prays to God for something which one does not possess or thinks one does not possess. One asks God for these favours with the faith that He alone can bestow everything and by His mere wish all wants can be satisfied. By prayer or by begging one wants to awaken His wish so that one may be granted the things one lacks. Does not one’s attempt to rouse the wish of God to fulfil these needs, upon careful and rational thinking, appear to be a reminder to God to give one something of which God has kept one deprived? It would otherwise not be necessary to remind Him in prayer of that thing or to try to arouse His wish to give. For instance, if one is in need of money, one would, with the faith that God alone can give, pray to Him for the favour of giving one money. Does not this request show God’s fault in keeping one in want of money, when He alone can give it? God alone is blamed for it, and by praying to Him for money one is precisely pointing out to Him His partiality in not giving one the money one needed. Therefore, prayer or asking for favours from God is only pointing out to the Sole Giver His mistakes in the distribution of His favours. It only presumes lack of impartiality in Him, and that is why He is blamed for making some very rich and others very poor. Praying to God for favours is only to bring to His notice the charge of partiality levelled against Him. When prayer leads to such a conclusion, it is only ignorance to ask for favours. One who performs actions will also bear the consequences, and blaming God for it as His partiality is not going to save one from bearing the consequences." (Ananda Marga Elementary Philosophy)

                                                       REFLECTION

Tragically the scene of giving money at DMS was nothing but a dogmatic case of arcana, i.e. praying and bribing Parama Purusa with external objects (i.e. money) in order to get His favour and one's selfish desires met. This type of offering is just dogma and has nothing to do with devotion. It is shameful that out of greed certain Dadas allowed this act to go on at our very own DMS gatherings. That is the new dogma that took birth.

                                             WHAT SHOULD BE DONE

Here Baba clearly tells us what we should offer to Parama Purusa. We are to offer our own selves - i.e. our minds, not external objects like money.

Baba says, "“Tava dravyaḿ Jagatguro Tubhyameva samarpaye.” “Everything of mine, along with my mind, is offered at Your altar. Please oblige and accept it.” (Ananda Vacanamrtam, part 3)

Namaskar,
Manoj

== DMS NEWS #6: SLOW DEATH OF ONE DOGMA ==

Namaskar,
This is the second time it has officially happened. It is still not yet perfect
but it is a big improvement from the dogma that was in vogue for two
decades.

During the January 2011 DMS, when PP Dada (i.e. Senior Purodha
Vishvadevananda) entered the pandal, then everyone raised the banner
"Ananda Marga Amar Hai", meaning "Ananda Marga is eternal" or "Long
Live Ananda Marga".

So the dogma of raising the slogan, "Parama Pita Baba Ki - Jai!" upon
PP Dada's entry was not done. After years and years of margiis objecting
to this dogma, they have gotten victory. Those at the helm no longer
adhere to this dogma. As I say - and as is described below - still the
situation is not perfect, but it is moving in the right direction, thanks to
the staunch efforts of rational Ananda Margiis.

At the January 2011 DMS, the "Parama Pita Baba Ki - Jai!" slogan was
not raised until PP Dada did sastaunga pranam in front of Baba's photo.
Of course the best would have been if PP Dada himself was the first
to raise the Jai slogan, then no naive person could possibly think that
the slogan was being raised for him. Maybe next time he will do like
that as things are improving.

Of course, the dogma since 1990 has been that when the margiis
would raise the Jai slogan , then the reigning PP upon entering the
pandal would hold his palms together in blessing mode as if he is
receiving the Jai slogan from margiis, as if PP getting the recognition.
Thankfully this dogmatic era is now over, as we all know that the
Jai slogan is for Baba and Baba alone.

While those at the helm have mended their ways, this Jai slogan dogma
has not died entirely, but it is in the process of dying.

Here is the past, present and recent history and the whole story surrounding
this issue.

                        JAI SLOGAN IS FOR BABA:

THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY CONFUSION

As we all know, our "Parama Pita Baba Ki - Jai!" slogan is raised in
Baba's glory - and no other. He is the Sadguru; He is that Taraka Brahma
that took birth to bring us on His divine lap; He is the Polestar; and
He is the Goal of Life. For Ananda Margiis, only He is Baba. And we
raise the Jai slogan with one-pointed ideation on His name and form.
There is no second or third entity involved - only Him. Thus, there
should not be any ambiguity about our Jai slogan.

WHAT MARGIIS OBJECTED TO THE POST 90 DOGMA

Unfortunately since 1990, our Jai slogan has been misused at our DMS
gatherings and that has left many new people confused and led many astray.

Since 1990, this has been the scene at DMS. The pandal would be full of
margiis, waiting for DMS to begin. Everyone would sing kiirtan. At the
conclusion of kiirtan, one Dada at the mic would raise the "Parama Pita
Baba Ki - Jai!" slogan and all would join in. The volume and intensity
would mount and then suddenly PP Dada or some other high-posted Dada
convening DMS would come out on stage. Everyone present would continue
to raise the slogan and PP Dada would slowly walk towards his seat with
his hands folded at his heart, not saying anything, as if everyone was
doing the Jai slogan for him & in his honour, not Baba's.

This is the crude way the slogan has been going on since 1990, and for
years and years many margiis and Dadas strongly objected. They brought
the point that PP Dada should also raise the Jai slogan and not stroll
into the pandal as if the slogan is in his honour.

But despite the many objections by margiis and Dadas, those top DMS
organisers kept everything as is, i.e. allowing PP and other big Dadas
to receive the Jai slogan. That was their standard practice; anyone who
has attended DMS knows this. History itself is the proof.

                 THIS WAS CONFUSING FOR MANY

Raising the Jai slogan in this dogmatic way was offensive to all bhaktas
and created much confusion about who the slogan is for and who Baba is,
especially for newer margiis and sympathizers. Certainly established
sadhakas were not confused but rather outraged, whereas countless others
were totally befuddled thinking that the slogan was for PP Dada etc.

Here's why, there was so much confusion:

1) In India, the term "Baba" is commonly used for many by the general
public. All Hindu monks are called Baba; grandfathers are called Baba;
priests are called Baba; all in all, there are so many Babas in India.
All are Baba. Thus when at DMS the whole pandal is raising the "Parama
Pita Baba Ki - Jai slogan" and PP Dada walks across the stage, then so
many members of the general public, new people and sympathizers will
naturally conclude that in AM Baba refers to PP Dada. This is one common
misnomer that has occurred in the post 1990 era.

2) In all the religions and on all the paths, the guru-ship, papacy (i.e.
the pope), head priest, and Dalai Lama title etc are passed down from
one leader to the next, from one human being to the next. This is the
way it works. AM is unique in that Brahma Himself is the Guru and there
is no passing down of the Guruship. There is not another path on the
planet that operates in this way. Naturally, then new people are going
to think that since 1990, the top Dada or PP Dada is the new Guru. None
can imagine that still we Ananda Margiis hold Baba to be the Guru after
1990. Hence when we raise the "Parama Pita Baba Ki - Jai!", they will
think it refers to the man walking across the stage with folded hands.

3) In AM, Baba is one. Baba refers to Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. There is
no other Baba. So when other paths do not follow the same one-pointed
approach as we follow, then they are bound to be confused about who we
mean when we say Baba.

These are but a few of the many reasons why the current DMS system has
been denounced by right-thinking Ananda Margiis. Raising the Jai slogan
and having PP Dada or some other top Dada walk across the stage is
misleading in so many ways. This is not the message we want to put
across. Even some good margiis got confused, especially in those early
years directly after '90.

Here the point is that the way the Jai slogan has been raised at DMS has
been problematic for the past 2 decades, i.e. 20 yrs, and many have
rightly brought forth their concerns - only to fall on deaf ears. Those
top Dadas always ignored the matter.

            NIGAMANANDA'S FATEFUL ANNOUNCEMENT

Then, out of the blue, at the 2010 Jamalpur DMS, Dada Nigamanandji,
the H group spokesman issued the following statement:

"When our chosen top Dada or PP walks out onto the stage, then do not
raise the Jai slogan. This slogan is only for Baba and none should get
confused. PP should enter silently, offer a garland to Baba's photo, do
sastaunga pranam, then the slogan should be Jai raised, and then PP will
take his seat."

This type of proclamation was given by Dada Nigamananda at the
Jamalpur DMS (2010). Even then, Dadaji did not get the situation
totally correct, plus there are many inconsistencies with Dadaji's own
behaviour in this regard - all of which are explored further down in
this letter.

Suffice to say here that with regards to the Jai slogan at our DMS
functions, it would best if PP himself raises the slogan first and then
everyone else joins in. Then all would know that PP is raising the
slogan for someone because no one can raise their own slogan. The prime
minister cannot raise the slogan, "Long live the prime minister!" -
someone else has to do it. So when if PP himself raises the Jai slogan
first then all would understand that PP is not Baba. So that is the way
it should be done.

The Jai slogan at the 2010 Jamalpur DMS and 2011 January DMS
was better than before but it is still not ideal. For it to be proper, PP
himself has be the first to raise the slogan and he should raise it the
entire time. Then common people will understand that Baba is Shrii
Shrii Anandamurtiji. None will think that Baba means PP Dada or
that the slogan is in PP's honour.

Beyond that there were some other noticeable peculiarities of Dada's
stated approach.

WHY PEOPLE WERE LAUGHING AT NIGAMANANDA'S STATEMENT

Here is why many margiis and Dadas present at the 2010 Jamalpur DMS
were smiling and laughing at Nigamananda's talk.

1. Firstly, Nigamananda talked about the Jai slogan as if he was
introducing a new practice in AM and no one knew how to raise the
slogan. When in fact, most of the margiis present have been raising the
Jai slogan properly for years and years. They were the ones complaining
that it should be raised for Baba and no one else. But in his stated
manner, Nigamananda approached the matter as if he was teaching
something entirely new that was unheard of in AM. That was one point of
humour.

2. Nigamananda talked about the Jai slogan as if for the past 20yrs he
and other top Dadas were not the ones who implemented the faulty and
dogmatic Jai slogan system. After all, Sarvatmananda started this dogma
in 1990 as a way to raise the platform of PP and get more power for
himself by controlling PP. Thereafter, for the past 12 years, Rudrananda
and Nigamananda cashed in on this same dogmatic approach.

3. And now suddenly, out of the blue, as if he never did any wrong and
as if no margii ever tried to correct the faulty Jai slogan approach,
Nigamananda walks on stage and with a straight face begins talking "the
finer aspects" of raising the Jai slogan. When all along he and his
cronies were the ones infusing the dogmatic ways, not anyone else.

For all these reasons and more, many good margiis and Dadas were amused
by Nigamananda's approach at the Jamalpur DMS. Dadaji was the culprit
but he presents the situation as if he is the pure and dharmic one who
is coming forward to save the day. That was what all the humour was all
about.

                     WHY HE DID LIKE THAT

With our critical thinking skills and pointed intellect, we should
analyse the situation and understand what motivated Nigamananda to issue
such a statement.

1) The first reason is that Nigamananda knew for years and years
that the Jai slogan was not being done correctly but since he
is now getting aged he thought he should try and fix it before
he died - lest he be blamed in future for his wrong doing.

It is just like how Indira Gandhi lifted the Emergency / martial law
when she was losing her grip on the power. She was the one who imposed
martial law and when she was at the height of power she ridiculed those
who suggested that she end martial law, but when her demise was near
then she stopped martial law. She thought that at least she should at
least get the credit for reversing it. Such was her self-centered and
hypocritical approach.

And now it seems that Nigamananda is no different. He is sick and aged
and now has one leg in the funeral pyre and suddenly he has become
adamant to fix the way the Jai slogan is being done at DMS, when he
personally was in charge of doing it the wrong way for 20yrs.

Many say that this is one reason why Dadaji suddenly came forward.

2) Others are telling that Nigamananda was thinking that he himself
would become PP one day and that he would get that respect and that it
would be so amazing. But when he recently realised that he is not going
to get the top post, then he withdrew that way of doing the Jai slogan
at DMS. He thought that, "If I am not going to the top post then no one
should get such respect."

Earlier Nigamananda thought that he himself would certainly become PP.
But with all the arm wrestling going on between him and Rudrananda, he
realised that he would never get the top chair.

So he thought that if I cannot get all that respect by having the whole
world chant the Jai slogan while I walk slowly across the stage, then no
one should get that opportunity.

It is akin to someone thinking, "If I cannot eat all the rasagolla then
no one should get any, better I should throw it to the dogs."

It is with this defective mindset that all of a sudden Nigamananda ended
the dogmatic Jai slogan ritual at DMS.

3) Side by side there is this also going on. Nigamananda wants credit
for dismantling the wrong way of doing the Jai slogan but he is not
willing to apologise for having been the one to implement and carry out
this system in the first place. For 20 years he was one of the main
agents of this dogma - but he made no mention of that in his talk. He
simply delivered his announcement as if this is a totally new rule. When
in fact for years and years Nigamananda implemented the crude Jai slogan
ritual and he kicked margiis in the face for opposing this same dogmatic
Jai slogan.

For all these reasons and more it is a bit peculiar how now out of the
blue, Nigamananda is suddenly talking about how the Jai slogan gives the
wrong impression. Rather we can understand what is really going on
inside his mind. He is not concerned about undoing a dogma but rather
saving his own prestige.

                        DELIBERATE SINNER

All in all it has to be remarked that Nigamananda has not shown an iota
of repentance for his wrongdoing. He did not even hint that for years
and years he himself administered the Jai slogan for PP Dada. So he has
no repentance for his wrongdoing - otherwise he would have said something.

His only motivation for coming forward is ego - to save his own
prestige. He thinks that if he is not going to become PP then no one
should get that kind of power and respect. But even then he is not going
to admit his own wrongdoing as that would be self-incriminating. So he
simply talks as if he is implementing a new rule, not tearing down an
old dogma which he himself actively supported.

According to Baba, this type of crooked mind-set is that of a deliberate
sinner.

Baba says, "They know that they are surrendering their intellect to
dogma, and that the outcome will be undesirable; they know and
understand everything – why, even then, do they knowingly submit to it?
They are all deliberate sinners." (NH-LOI, Disc: 6)

Only now when Dadaji is sadly suffering from a terminal illness is he
trying to get credit for fixing this wrongdoing, without admitting his
part in it.

It seems he is fearful of how he will be judge in the future. Otherwise
what was the need to come forward like he did at the Jamalpur DMS function.

Of course we all feel badly that Dadaji is in poor health and close to
his end, but best would have been if he had expressed some repentance
for his misdeed and sin.

                 WHAT SHOULD BE THE APPROACH:

PP HIMSELF SHOULD RAISE THE SLOGAN

So that was the drama about Nigamananda's announcement at the 2010
Jamalpur DMS gathering. Now we should all come to consensus on this
deeply devotional issue.

Baba is our Polestar and the "Parama Pita Baba Ki - Jai!" is for Him
alone. To ensure no one at DMS thinks that the slogan is for PP Dada,
then PP Dada himself should be the first to raise the slogan and then
all others should join in and PP should continue to yell the slogan till
the very end. Then everyone present, even non-margiis and sympathizers,
will understand that our Jai slogan is for Baba and Baba is Shrii Shrii
Anandamurtiji, not anyone else.

SOCIETY IS IMPROVING, BUT NOT DADAJI

This is the era when society is moving ahead quickly. So many dogmas and
injustices are being corrected. Whole countries and governments - like
Canada and Australia - are issuing apologies for how they abused and
wiped out native peoples in the past. Priests are speaking out about
religious injustices, and social leaders are admitting their misdeeds of
old. In so many ways people are coming clean and fixing their wrongs.
That is the trend.

So it is a shame that Nigamananda could only go halfway. All he could do
was try and introduce a new rule, he failed to express repentance for
his wrongdoing the past 20 years.

By Baba's grace, very soon Nigamananda will get the courage to show his
repentance in front of all. Till that time, everyone will see the truth
about him for what it is.

Right now it looks as though he has been sleeping the last 20yrs when
margiis were pointing out this wrongdoing, or Dadaji is a deliberate
sinner - or both. You the reader should decide.

                           BABA'S BLESSING

It is exclusively Baba's grace that He has blessed us by coming and
taking us on His lap. All glory and honour go to Him - no one else. By
using the Jai slogan at DMS in the proper way, everyone will understand
that Baba is Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji and that He alone is the Guru of
Ananda Marga.

Namaskar,
Mahesh

                       OUR SANSKRIT NAMES

Baba says, "At the time of initiation or shortly afterwards, those who do not
have a Sanskrit name should be given one by the ácárya/á. The word deva should
be suffixed to the name...the more the usage of deva as a title, the better it
is. The Sanskrit name should be used in all worldly dealings." (Caryacarya-1)

                                       PRABHAT SAMGIITA

"Sukhe ele na'ko, shoke sa'ntvana' dite ele..." (PS 3091)

Purport:

Baba, when I was feeling happy and content that time You did not come.
Those days I was so enamoured with myself and I was so involved in my
own glory that I did not even think to call You. So You did not come.
But when I lost all that happiness and when I become drowned in my
sorrows of self pity and when I was suffering and overwhelmed by various
problems, then by Your grace You immediately came and consoled me. Baba
in that desperate moment You graciously relieved me of my grief. Baba, I
did not ever feel that You are mine. In this life I was always suffering
from the vanity and ego of my own I-feeling. Those days I was thinking
that 'I am everything'. Due to my ego I did not accept You as the
Supreme One-- as my Goal. I did not take You as that most loving One who
can solve all my problems; I did not surrender at Your feet. Baba, even
then by Your grace You took advent deep inside my heart and became mine.
And now I understand that You are ever helpful and that You remain with
me always.

Baba, those days when I was overwhelmed by that severe suffering, I did
not outrightly tell You about my problems. I did not openly say
anything. I did not express my pain to You. But because You are
ever-present in my heart and because You are my eternal shelter, with
Your infinite compassion You fully understood the desperate state of my
mind-- You understood my sorrow. And by Your grace You instantly poured
Your eternal sweetness and love. By Your grace You filled my whole
existence with Your divine bliss.

Baba, due to my ego and vanity I could not recognise you. You were
showering huge grace on me but I could not recognise that. I thought
that due to my own qualities everything was happening. In those happy
times I could not recognise You. Only did I begin to recognise You in my
sorrow. Baba, in my state of terrible suffering, when the mountain of
misery started falling on my head, then all my friends left me. I was
all alone. When I was happy then they were along with me but when I
became sunk in misery all those friends disappeared. Baba, You are the
exact opposite. When I was sunk in woe then by Your grace You
immediately came and removed all my pains and troubles. Baba You bathed
me in Your infinite love. Filling my I-feeling with Your bliss, You
surrounded me each and every second. Baba, You showered Your grace and
saturated my heart.

Baba, You are so gracious. You are love Personified. You have done
everything for me. Baba, I surrender at Your alter...

              Health Guideline: Diet Related

Baba says, "For proper digestion, fill the stomach half-way with food,
one quarter with water, and leave one quarter full of air." (CC-3,
'Procedure for Eating')

Note: Every conscious margii follows this above point but sometimes for
certain people it becomes difficult to follow. Especially at retreats or
during feasts this rule is not so strictly followed by some. Whereas in
everyday life when they are in their own home this is not a problem.
Anyhow, the above guideline given by Revered Baba is highly significant
and we should follow it.
