Baba

== UNKNOWN SINS IN OUR LIFE ==

Namaskar,
In His discourses, Baba invariably makes reference to the fact that
human beings commit sins.

Whether one wants to use the word samskara or sin, the fact remains that
humans commit such wrongs: Actions that may or may not be against the
legal code of the day, but transgress our cardinal human values and
moral codes. And that of course is the difference between a crime and a
sin.

Baba says, "If the violation is in the spiritual code, rather the
religious code, it is termed as 'sin'. If the violation is against the
legal code it is known as 'crime'." (AFPS-6)

The trick then comes in knowing what is sinful and what is not. Because
there are some actions people know to be wrong, while there are various
other misdeeds that people do unknowingly-- yet by that way also they
incur sin.

So we should all be aware of these unknown sins, because even if the
motive is not to commit sin, if one does those acts it still falls
within the category of sin. Hence awareness is needed.

MUST NOT FALL INTO SINNER'S PSYCHOLOGY

As we delve into this discussion of committing sin unknowingly-- whether
it be via abortion, or mentally harming someone, or overlooking our
social duties etc-- we should be vigilant not to fall into sinner's
psychology. One should not walk around thinking, 'I am a sinner, I am a
bad person...'. That would only severely worsen the situation.

Rather we should take this in a positive light-- as a way to improve and
purify ourselves. Just at it is important to know the laws of the land
in order to keep oneself out of harm's way and become an upstanding
citizen; similarly it is vital that we be aware of all sorts of sins so
we can keep away from these misdeeds and become a model of dharma. By
this way we invariably become better human beings and can better help
others also.

So the whole essence of this conversation is aim towards human growth
and development. And of course it will help decrease or totally
eliminate the accumulation of negative samskaras.

ANANDA MARGIIS ARE A STEP AHEAD

As Ananda Margiis we are already ahead of the game. Because common
sinful things like idol worship and the torturing and eating animals, we
do not do. Whereas those in the general society constantly incur sin by
doing such things.

Baba says, "Those who in the name of the beginningless, endless,
formless Brahma worship idols, are indulging in deliberate slander. You
must not give indulgence to this type of mahapa'pa (great sin)." (CC-2)

Baba says, "Even to see an animal being slaughtered is a sin; he [a
devotee] cannot even think of eating meat." (HS-1)

So these are known sins about which we have to raise awareness in the
general society-- and that we are doing in our various pracara efforts.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE UNKNOWN SINS

Then what are some of the unknown sins that some Ananda Margiis might do?

Often times these are things which are legal, but against our code of
spiritual morality. So one is not committing a crime by doing these
things, but one is committing sin and incurring negative samskara.

In this era of extreme debauchery, fathering children yet not taking
responsibility for their upbringing is not a crime, but according to AM
it certainly is a sin. Because not doing what one is supposed to do,
i.e. pratyavaya, is sinful.

Baba says, "Pratyava'ya means 'not to do what should be done'. For
instance, parents should educate [and raise] their children. If they do
not, they are said to have committed pratyava'ya." (NKS, Disc:18)

Thus living a libertine life is surely a way to incur sin-- and this
type of sin is worse than ordinary sin.

Baba says, "Pratyava'ya [sin of ommision] is worse than pa'pa [sin of
commission]." (AV-1)

And veritably there are a wide-range of (in)actions that are classified
as pratyavaya. In various discourse like 'Sinners & their Rectification'
(AV-31), as well as in other places, Baba warns us about the wide range
of actions that fall within the scope of pratyavaya [sin of ommission].

Baba says, "You should help a man in distress. You should help the
suffering humanity. These are the dos of life. If you do not do them,
you are doing pratyava'ya." (AV-14)

As Ananda Margiis, we have many dos that are part and parcel of our
moral and spiritual lives: From watering plants to opposing injustice,
from participating in service projects to being an example in society.
And whenever we fail to act positively in this regard, then that is a
veritable sin. So we should be vigilant.

OTHER SINS THAT ANANDA MARGIIS MIGHT DO:

                   ABORTIONS, MAHAPRAYAN, ETC

All in all there are a variety of sins that Ananda Margiis might do
unknowingly.

For example, doing an abortion is sinful. In many places it is not
illegal, but according to the view of Ananda Marga, it is certainly
sinful. Life itself starts at conception as per Baba's discourse,
'Life, Death, & Samskara' and modern scientific research. Each and every
human being has the right to live, and to prematurely end that life,
irregardless of the stage of pregnancy, is most definitely a sin.

Then, of course, there is the infamous Mahaprayan program which reduces
our infinite Parama Brahma to a mere finite being that is gone forever.
Many in AM may blindly or naively participate in this dogmatic
Mahaprayan program, yet by doing so they are certainly incurring
negative samskaras and committing sin. Because the crude doctrine of
Mahaprayan is a form of idol worship as it wholly fails to recognise
Parama Purusa as the "beginningless, endless, formless Brahma".

Plus if anyone visits the Tigers grave in Jamalpur or any other
so-called tiirtha spot in AM and dogmatically touches their forehead to
that spot thinking that they are doing pranam to Baba, then also they
are committing sin, or worse, even mahapapa (terrible sin).

                            "Vya'pitvm ca...dine"

"The Entity which is all-pervading who is established in the grandeur of
being the Witnessing Entity of everyone, about that divine Entity if I say
about Him that on this place He ate butter and on this place He took bath,
telling all these tales if I bind that all-pervading Entity to one
particular land, country, or place, by propagating the greatness of this
holy land or that holy land, if by this I ruin His all-pervasiveness then
that is not a virtuous deed, but rather sin." (AVM-11, p. 30)

So there are any number of ways that people may be unknowingly
committing sin in Ananda Marga.

But of course, those organisers of Mahaprayan who cunningly devise and
flaunt this MPD program for their own group cause are deliberate
sinners. And their fate is even worse. Such persons know who they are
and cannot escape their fate.

                    A TIME FOR CONTEMPLATION

So all of the above we should bring into our mental awareness and side
by side cultivate the idea that, 'I am the blessed child of Parama
Purusa and I have come onto this earth to serve Him and help others'. By
that way our mental plate will be clean-- devoid of sinner's
psychology-- and we can move ahead in a positive direction.

                   COMMON SINS IN THE SOCIETY

Here are other sins listed in point-wise fashion that are commonly done
in the society. So we should keep ourselves clear of these misdeeds, as
well as educate others.

* Many times people harm others mentally by thinking or wishing bad
things on them. This is especially the case when one suffers from anger
and jealousy such as when one is in business and does not think well of
his competitors. Or an even more common example is in the case of
various male-female relations. Then people can become extremely jealous
and malevolent in their thoughts. And sometimes they even take action in
the physical sphere as well. All these types of things are common sins
in the society and occur on a daily basis.

* The wanton disrespect and destruction of animal life in the form of
animal experimentation is another form of sin. To cruelly butcher, harm,
or ruin an animal's existence for the so-called sake of experimentation
cannot be justified. There are other better and more exact ways
to derive information without harming other living beings. Those who
resort to animal experimentation are certainly committing sin.

* In capitalism it is in vogue to exploit & cheat others. One get
praised and promoted for such things. Thus in the business world there
are many who commit sins each and every day that they go to work.

* Politicians who incite war with a crooked motive are also clear-cut
sinners. Right now our globe is riddled with such people.

* Some derive a sick type of joy by seeing others in problem. That also
is sinful.

* All instances of genocide, homicide, and suicide are sinful. Genocide
we have seen with Hitler, the Serbs, and so many cases around the globe.
Then homicide is also are regular occurrence and now it has become the
fashion of the day to walk onto college campuses and open fire on
innocent students. Plus no one has any right to kill themselves as this
body and mind do not belong to them but rather to Parama Purusa. So all
cases of genocide, homicide, and suicide are sinful.

                            MORE REFLECTION

Generally speaking people have narrow idea about sin. So we should open
our own minds and make others aware as well. True margiis should be
aware about the various types of sin in order to protect themselves and
help the society. Even then, ultimately only the grace of Parama Purusa
can save us, but at least we should use our intellect to keep away from
unknown sins, as far as possible.

                            BABA'S BLESSING

By Baba's grace He is so gracious as He saves each and every person and
lovingly brings them on His lap, irregardless of their past misdeeds and
sins. All one has to do is remember that they are the divine child of
Parama Purusa and approach Him for His mercy.

Baba says, "For such a sinner, the worst type of sinner, the future is
not dark. The future in his case also is very bright, if he takes
shelter in the divine lap of the Supreme Father. “I am on the lap of my
Father, I cannot be a sinner.” Suppose you are walking along the path
and your dress, your clothes, become muddy due to dust or clay. Then
should you think that you will remain nasty or dirty forever? If you
appear before your Father with dirty clothes, what will your Father do?
He will clean your clothes and take you on his lap: “O my son, your
clothes have become muddy, but you are my son. Come here, come here, sit
on My lap. I am your Father, you are My son, you must not suffer from
any sinner’s psychology.” Do you follow?

"So even if, in the past, you were sinners, forget it. Remember that
from this very moment, you are the neat and clean son, you are the neat
and clean child, of the Supreme Father. So there must not be any
psychology of sinning complex. For a spiritual aspirant, there must not
be any complex. Be free from all complexes, and move along the path of
righteousness with a balanced mind, with mental equilibrium and mental
equipoise. A bright future awaits you." (AV-34)

Namaskar,
Gurumurti

Note 1: POWER OF BABA NAM KEVALAM

Here again Baba instructs us how to save ourselves from sin. Of course
since sin itself originated in the mind, Baba has blessed us with one
special remedy.

Baba says, "I have made a rhyme:"

                       Ba'ba' na'm kevalam yata pa'p hare
                      Pa'piider sa'dhya nei tata pa'p kare.

[The repetition of Ba'ba' na'm kevalam even once kills so many sins that
the worst sinners could not accumulate them.] (AV-6)

Thus by His grace our Baba Nam Kevalam mantra clears the mind of all psychic
sins. It works in the mental sphere and the great benefit of that is one will
not be afraid to prostrate oneself before Parama Purusa and request His mercy.
Often those who sin mentally keep away from Parama Purusa - they have a complex that they are "too dirty" or "not good enough" to go near God. Hence they remain far. That is the real danger of sinning. But the moment one sings Baba Nam Kevalam one begins to feel free mentally in which case the so-called sinner will automatically rush to His lotus feet and get Baba's divine grace.
That is the special effect of kiirtan.

Namaskar,
Baba's below teaching is not only related with this particular issue of Mubarak's trial (see article below) - it is universally applicable. So factional leaders of the various groups should also watch out.

Baba says, "The wickedness, the deceit, that pollutes human society first moves along a crooked path like its masters, and finally ends up by annihilating its masters themselves. The wicked persons at the helm of affairs, who are now out to liquidate others, will one day themselves be liquidated and erased from history by their own followers. Sinful persons, by following the crooked path, contaminate the atmosphere of the universe, but ultimately that sinful conduct, in a similar crooked way, will recoil like a boomerang on the sinners themselves." At Mubarak Trial, Stark Image of Humbled Power

By ANTHONY SHADID - Published: August 3, 2011

CAIRO — An ailing Hosni Mubarak, who had served longer than any other ruler of modern Egypt until a revolution toppled him in February, was rolled into a courtroom in a hospital bed on Wednesday to face charges of corruption and complicity in the killing of protesters, offering an indelible lesson for Egypt and the Arab world in the humbling of power.

The symbolism of the day’s events, watched live by tens of millions, made the episode one of the most visceral ever in a region where uprisings have shaken Mr. Mubarak’s contemporaries. On this day, the aura of their power was made mundane, and Mr. Mubarak, 83, dressed in prison whites and bearing a look that some read as disdainful, was chastened.

Even those who most ardently demanded his prosecution believed that his lingering prestige would keep him from a cage fashioned of bars and wire, a reflection of the unease that reigns in a country whose revolution remains unresolved. As a helicopter ferried Mr. Mubarak to the courtroom, housed in a police academy that once bore his name, cheers went up from a crowd gathered outside.

“The thief is here!” his opponents shouted. “The butcher is here!”

But the four-hour hearing perhaps spoke most eloquently to Egypt’s past, as the court brought someone to account for decades of stagnation and repression so rife it became casual, under whom Egypt lost its perch as the Arab world’s most powerful country. The future of the country remained unclear, though, still beholden as it is to a powerful military that gave up one of its own, in what some saw as a cynical gesture to appease an angry public bent on achieving a far greater transformation of Egypt than the military wants.

“We need more than the trial,” said Menna Kamal, 22, an activist at the courthouse. “I still feel I’m a foreigner here. It’s still their country, not ours, not mine.”

The scene itself was seminal for its very clarity, at a time when the Arab world seems so confused. The trial riveted the region, where uprisings inspired in part by Egypt have shaken the rule of autocrats in Libya, Syria, Yemen and Bahrain. But the euphoria of Tahrir Square, a symbol of popular will, has given way to a more familiar chaos and bloodshed in those places. Some Arab officials even suggested that the spectacle of the trial on Wednesday — a president and his family, along with his retinue of officials, facing charges — would make those leaders all the more reluctant to step down.

On the very day Mr. Mubarak’s trial began, President Bashar al-Assad of Syria escalated his own bloody crackdown on a city at the heart of the uprising against him. Yemen faces chaos, Bahrain unrelenting repression, and the leader in Libya, seemingly unhinged, has helped take his country into what looks like a prolonged civil war.

“Mubarak in the Cage,” read a headline in a Lebanese newspaper, Al Akhbar.

“Who is going to be the winner?” it asked.

The trial began precisely on time, at 10 a.m. in Cairo. While the other defendants took a seat, Mr. Mubarak’s sons remained standing, seeming to block the view of their father. Mr. Mubarak appeared tired but alert, occasionally speaking with his sons, who both held Korans.

“The first defendant, Muhammad Hosni al-Sayyid Mubarak,” said the chief judge, Ahmed Refaat, speaking to the cage holding Mr. Mubarak; his two sons, Gamal and Alaa; former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly; and six senior police officers.

“Sir, I am present,” Mr. Mubarak replied into a microphone, from his bed.

“You heard the charges that the prosecutor made against you,” the judge said from his bench in the wood-paneled courtroom. “What do you say?”

“I deny all these accusations completely,” Mr. Mubarak replied, wearily waving his hand.

Mr. Mubarak last appeared in public on Feb. 10. “It’s not about me,” he said in a speech then, to the disbelief of hundreds of thousands demonstrating in the capital. On Wednesday, television captured him picking his nose.

The two sentences were the only words he uttered to the judge. Hard of hearing, Mr. Mubarak had his son repeat the judge’s question to him.

“God brings glory to whomever he wants and humiliates whomever he wants,” several spectators outside said, quoting a Koranic verse as Mr. Mubarak appeared on a giant screen.

...

Mr. Mubarak’s fate will be decided by a three-judge panel. A guilty verdict requires agreement between the chief judge, Mr. Refaat, and at least one of the other two judges. The chief judge promised speedy proceedings, though no one seemed to know whether that meant weeks, months or longer. Mr. Mubarak’s trial is scheduled to resume on Aug. 15.

Officials said Mr. Mubarak would remain in the capital for the duration of the trial, staying at a hospital on Cairo’s outskirts until the next session. He, the former interior minister and the six officers are charged in connection with the killings of protesters. The charges can carry the death penalty. Mr. Mubarak and his sons also face charges of corruption, though the allegations — that they received five villas to help a businessman buy state land at a cheaper price — paled before some of the more epic cases of corruption in a country suffused with patronage and misrule.

The spectacle of the trial, though, seemed to matter more than the charges.

A headline in a popular Egyptian newspaper read, “The Day of Judgment.”

Baba

== EASY TO UNDERSTAND WHEN STORY IS RIPE ==

Namaskar,
Baba's following teaching is highly indicative of what today's tyrants are going through. As we watch one leader after another topple in the Middle East, it is very easy to apply Baba's mandate - as these events are unfolding before our very eyes.

NOWHERE TO HIDE - MUST UNDERGO THE CONSEQUENCES

                         Na antalikkhe na samuddamajjhe
                         Na pabbatanam vivaram pavissa
                         Na vijjati so jagatippadeso
                         Yatthatthitam nappasaheyya maccu.

Baba says, "Suppose a person commits a wrong by accepting a bribe. While receiving the bribe he thinks that no one is watching, but that is impossible. A third entity is watching everything. No one can do anything secretly in this universe. But the bribe-taker thinks the opposite because avidyá shakti has placed a veil between him and the Supreme Being. This is a very dangerous situation. It is just like a hare being chased by a hunter: the hare sits down and covers its eyes with its ears and, thinks, “I cannot see anything, so the hunter cannot see anything either. Hence he won’t be able to kill me.” This is a deadly mistake! Wherever one commits a wrong, be it in the depths of the ocean or in a high mountain cave, one cannot escape the consequences: one will certainly be detected one day or another." (Subhasita Samgraha - 18)

In His above teaching Baba guides us that no deed goes unseen in this universe. Some people mistakenly think that they can commit wrongful crimes and atrocities and keep those ills hidden. But, as Baba says, that is impossible. Parama Purusa sees everything. One will have to face the consequences - there is no way out, nowhere to hide. For every misdeed, there is a corresponding consequence. It is inevitable; there is no escape. That is Baba's explicit warning.

CHAIN OF EVENTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Now today in the Middle East we see a rapid fire chain of events taking place. Rulers who have been in the seat of power for decades and decades are being yanked from their throne. The very public, which those ruthless despots exploited to the bone, is rising up and forcing these leaders out. For years and years such rulers thought their position was impregnable. They felt they could commit any crime they wanted to bolster their own prestige and power and that no harm could befall them. Now we see how wrong their calculation was. As Baba describes in His above teaching, such leaders were like that hare (i.e. rabbit) - just wallowing in their ignorance - totally unaware of the impending danger.

Here are but a few case examples which we have all witnessed within the last month.

Ben Ali ruled Tunisia for 24 years in a regime riddled with corruption, rampant exploitation, and countless injustices. He ruled as if nothing and no one could touch him - that he was beyond. He stole billions of dollars from the state and acted as if his stature was unchallengeable. Then, as we have all witnessed, in a short instant of time, the common people revolted. A swift uprising buoyed by the youths sealed Ben Ali's fate. Those youths rebelled against the horrible economic conditions and untold ills. After 24 years of despotic rule, Ben Ali's regime was torn down to the ground. A man who once was at the height of power was forced to flee for his life, and now he is in exile and lies in a coma - totally debilitated.

Likewise, in Egypt, Mubarak thought of himself as beyond all rebuke. He stole everything from the people, and poured billions into his personal bank account while the average Egyptian scratched for survival on a $2 a day budget. Mubarak had his hand in everything and he and his exploitative machine ruled Egypt with an iron fist for 30 years. Then, as we all saw, on the heels of Tunisia's uprising, the Egyptian people poured into Tahrir square and called for his resignation. Their protests swelled, tensions mounted, and ultimately, within a few weeks, their demands were met. Mubarak's rule, once seen as invincible, was torn down. He met his fate and now sits in seclusion awaiting judgment- his assets frozen and banned from all travel. The tables have turned and he too must face the consequences of his torturous rule.

Then of course there is the imminent fall of Momar Gaddafi in Libya. As we speak, a violent clash is taking place. Gaddafi tried to strong arm the people to accept his rule, but alas times have changed. His misdeeds have caught up with him. And now he is isolated - submerged in his own delusions. In the next day or so we will witness the end of his heinous 42 year rule. The day he never dreamed of is before him. He too will find no escape from his misdeeds. His end is very near.

What these three tryants all have in common is that in the not-too-distant past they thought their rule would last forever. They never thought that they would have to face the consequences. With their sky-kissing arrogance, they thought they could cheat, kill, suppress, and exploit the people without facing any backlash. But now their time has come. There is not escape. That is Baba's stated teaching.

And not just these three, but all those despots steeped in sin will meet a similar fate. This chain of events will continue onward. That is the natural law. There is nowhere to hide in this universe. One must undergo the consequences of their misdeeds, sooner or later. That is the universal truth - that is Baba's teaching.

                                      PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCE

While the events in the Middle East are quite dramatic, and depict how even the most powerful tyrant is bound to face the reactions of their criminal activities. Baba's teaching is not limited to such despots alone.

In each and every place, big or small, wherever people reside there are some who misuse their power. Blinded by ego they think, "nothing can harm me, I may do as I please." In that way they cheat and harm others. It may be between husband and wife, boss and employee, neighbor to neighbor, group to group, or whomever. Wherever one person or group grabs the upper hand then they generally fall under the false notion that they are unbeatable.

But in all such circumstances, they will one day meet their fate and undergo the consequences of their misdeeds. There is nowhere to run or hide. Everyone must be accountable to their each and every action. That is divine law.

So none should think that only crooked and crude leaders like Mubarak and Gaddafi are subject to this principle. No one should think, "This does not apply to me."

As Baba guides us, this rule applies universally for everyone. Where there is sin - where there is injustice - where there is corruption etc, there will be consequences to follow. The funny thing is that one's ego does not allow them to think that they too will meet their fate.

All should be alert and know that there is no place to hide - all one's actions are seen by Parama Purusa.

                                              BABA'S TEACHING

By Baba's grace, we should all live by the tenets of yama and niyama and inspire others to do that same. In that way we can march forward onto the path of spirituality and leave behind the trappings of egoistic exploitation. Then our reactions will just be sweet and blissful.

We should be cent-per-cent vigilant that our actions are just. Then we will never be forced to suffer the consequences. When, cent per cent of the time we can remember that Parama Purusa is watching us - and that there is no place to hide - then we will save ourselves from all kinds of troubles and hardship. Then we will be strict in 16 Points, inspired by His loving countenance, and lead a dharmic life.

Baba says, "In an attempt to escape from one’s sins and misdeeds you may retire to the Himalayas from Kanpur, but you cannot go beyond that. So the question arises, where will you escape to? Suppose you commit some wrong, and to escape the evil outcome of those misdeeds and avoid punishment you try to hide yourself in the sky or in an unknown place or at the bottom of the sea or in a mountain cave. But can you really hide yourself anywhere? In fact in this universe there is not an inch of space where one can conceal oneself." (Subháśita Saḿgraha Part 11)

Namaskar,
Harideva

Note 1:                       HERE AGAIN IS BABA'S TEACHING

Baba says, "Nothing is hidden from Him. Humans cannot conceal anything they do from Him. If you say to somebody, “Don’t tell anyone about this,” Parama Puruśa hears you saying privately not to tell anyone. Therefore it is said that He has a separate face for each unit being, with which He sees everyone. Na antariikśe na samudramajjhe – “Neither in the sky, nor in the ocean,” nor in a cave, can you hide yourself. Nowhere in the Cosmos can you hide from Him." (Subhasita Samgraha - 21)

"The Entity which is all-pervading who is established in the grandeur of
being the Witnessing Entity of everyone, about that divine Entity if I say
about Him that on this place He ate butter and on this place He took bath,
telling all these tales if I bind that all-pervading Entity to one
particular land, country, or place, by propagating the greatness of this
holy land or that holy land, if by this I ruin His all-pervasiveness then
that is not a virtuous deed, but rather sin." (AV-11, p.

Often those who sin mentally keep away from Parama Purusa - they have a complex
that they are "too dirty" or "not good enough" to go near God. Hence they reamain
far. That is the real danger of sinning. But the moment one sings Baba Nam
Kevalam one begins to feel free mentally in which case the so-called sinner
will automatically rush to His lotus feet and get Baba's divine grace.
That is the special effect of kiirtan.

~ ANANDA MARGA JAGRTI SELLERS ARE MAHAPATAKIIS ~

Note: This letter is part of an ongoing investigative series about the
selling of AM land. Be sure to read all parts of this report. Links to
prior letters in this series are appended below.

Namaskar,
Retaining our Ananda Marga land is a key aspect of our growth and
prosperity. Baba warns us that no organisation can survive if they sell
off all their assets. That is why in various Procedural Orders, Baba has
declared that AM land holdings must not be sold. That is His direct
guideline.

GROUPIST JARGON

MARGIIS MUST BE ALERT

These days some of the groups not in power are telling how if they were
in power then all the land holdings would be safe and secure. Their
mantra is: "We will not sell AM land." However, by their actions it is
very clear that all such groups support the principle & strategy of land
selling.

Today third front / EC and Kolkata factions are just making noise and
speaking out how Ranchi is selling AM land. But this is just their ploy
to befool margiis. Such EC and Kolkata group members talk as if they are
the great protectors of AM land and that they will safeguard our
properties. But the fact is that they themselves are supporters of the
anti-organizational idea of selling organizational land. They did so in
the past and they will do so in future. When in power, i.e. when given
the opportunity, they will do the same.

So margiis should not think that any leader of any group will save the
property of our Marga. Every margii and wt should be conscious, alert,
come forward and make a concerted effort to save the property of our Marga.

SELLING OF DIDI'S MASTER UNIT

As you may know, Ranchi administration recently sold our very old,
beautiful, and well-established Didi master unit, A'nanda Sambodhi, in
Asansole, West Bengal, India for 50 million rupees. There are a number
of reasons why they sold it. Many say that their great plan was to get
enough money to evict their rival party from Tiljala. And ultimately
they will sell Tiljala as well. That is the plan. Thereafter, the
mahasamadhi will be transferred to Ananda Nagar. That way the tiirtha
(i.e. mahasamadhi) will be transferred to Ranchi group territory -
either Ananda Nagar or Jamalpur.

Now Ranchi is also planning on selling more lands and jagrtis that are
presently under the control of other groups. As soon as they get buyers
they will sell, sell, sell. They will use such monies for their groupist
war chest.

So everyone should be alert. We should not let our AM property holdings
to become of the victim of the present group battle.

SOLD LAND & SHATTERED MARGIIS' DREAMS

We must remember that Ranchi & Co. have already sold one very costly
land in Pune, Maharastra, India. This sale occurred 2 years ago. Yet
this land was purchased with donations from margiis with the sole
purpose of constructing a VSS office. But now that land is gone and
margiis' dreams have been shattered.

OTHER LANDS THEY ARE SELLING

It has already been decided by Central Committee of Ranchi
administration to sell more land which is under their control. In
addition they plan to sell most of our vacant Ananda Marga land that
does not have any constructed buildings.

Nigama'nanda and Rudra'nanda have already sent their agent to deal with
prospective buyers. Some of these land parcels are:

(a) Brother Joshiijii of Rajasthan donated 21 acres of land near Panch
Dam in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This land is now for sale.

Plus all these lands are on the selling blocks:

(b) 2 acres of land in Gaya, Bihar near police line shooting range.

(c) 2 Bighas of land in Sasung, Latehar Dit of Jharkhanda.

(d) More than 5 acres of Master Unit property and 5 Kattha' of costly
land in town of Chandava block, Latehar dit of Jharkhanda.

(e) Training Center MU in Nasirpur Varanasi which is just 1/2 kilometre
from Ba'ba' Quarter Varanasii. Rudra'nanda is personally interested to
sell this MU, but at present Nigamananda Dada is objecting. Nigamananda
has emotional attachment to this place. Unfortunately his attachment
does not expand to other lands as well. The reason being that when the
mind is low and small it is hard to fathom that all lands in AM should
be protected, not just one parcel that "I am personally attached with."
Dadaji lacks the requisite dharmic feeling; that is why Nigamananda
cannot be trusted to protect other lands.

(f) Centre has not posted any worker to the the ja'grti in Sangroor of
Ludhiana diocese for a long time. All along the ulterior motive is to
sell that ja'grti and now they are actively trying for it.

(g) There is very costly land on Delhi Dehradoon national highway on
which Nigama'nanda has cast his greedy eyes.

(h) There is vacant land in Sivan and Gopalganj dit of Bihar, that is
also on the list of sale.

(i) Nigama'nanda's and Rudra'nanda's sword is hanging on many Didi
properties in south India.

This list is just a fraction of the land they want to sale.

DO NOT FALL PREY TO GROUPIST TALL TALKS

So, we margiis should not believe in any groupist leaders. We should be
united without taking the shelter of any group. By Baba's grace we are
to raise ideological issues, be alert and conscious, and fight against
the idea of selling land of the organisation. It is our sacred duty to
save our Marga's property from the greedy eyes and bloody claws of
groupist leaders of all factions.

We must know that when our organisation sells land then we will never
get money to buy land. No one will donate to the cause of AM land.
Because people will think that any land donated today or bought today
will one day be sold by the organisation. So the inspiration to donate
or buy land will be burnt forever. That is the very real and scary
outcome. No one will trust us to oversee our landholdings in a proper
and responsible manner. That is the "after-shock" effect of selling AM land.

Indeed in this way development of our organisation will come to a halt.
That situation is that grave. So this selling of AM land is not a simple
issue, but has far-reaching consequences. This will create a dangerous &
recurring effect for our Marga.

We have to remember that it is wholly against Baba's explicit guideline
to sell Ananda Marga property. We must pay heed to His call.

Let us also remember that Ba'ba' always regarded our land as dharmasthan
and this is our dharmic duty to protect our Marga's property.

BABA'S ORDER

By Baba's grace He gives the order in "A Guide to Human Conduct" that if
someone tries to capture our land then they can be violently attacked.

Ks'etrada'ra'paha'rii ca shastradha'rii dhana'paha'h
Agnidagaradashcaeva s'adete hya'tata'yinah

Baba says, "“Anyone who, by the use of brute force, wants to take
possession of your property, ks'etra-land, abducts your wife, comes with
a weapon to murder you, wants to snatch away your wealth, sets fire to
your house or wants to take life by administering poison, is called an
a'tata'yii.” If any person or a nation wants to occupy all or part of
another country, the use of physical force against such invading forces
is not against the principle of ahim'sa'. Rather, by a wrong
interpretation of the term ahim'sa' or by interpreting him'sa' and brute
force as identical, common people will have to suffer from loss of
wealth, happiness, or other hardships." (Guide to Human Conduct)

By their wicked ways and cheating tactics some are selling AM lands to
gain money to use at their own disposal. They are taking possession of
AM property and using it for their selfish ends. Per Baba's above
teaching, we are to understand that those culprits involved in selling
our organizational property are also to be treated as enemies of the Marga.

AM LAND SELLERS ARE MAHA'PA'TAKIIS

Here below Baba tells how those who set a negative example that has a
recurring effect are terrible sinners. Read the following and reflect
how this also applies to those Dadas involved in selling AM lands.

Baba says, "To kidnap Sita was an act of maha'pa'taka. But he didn't
kidnap Sita as a thief or as a robber. He went in disguise. He went in
the form of a sa'dhu. That is, he [Ravana] created a very bad precedent,
and henceforward no kulabadhu, no lady, will pay credence to what a
sannya'sii says. They may think: ‘He may be like Ravana; he may also be
a thief – like Ravana.’ So he has set a very, very bad example, and it
will have a recurring effect on each and every lady of society. So
Ravana is a maha'pa'takii, his action is of recurring effect." (Ananda
Vacanamrtam, Part 31)

Just as Ravana's misdeeds set a bad and lasting precedent for the
society, and is hence considered a deliberate sinner, similarly those
who sell AM lands fall in the same category. Their sin has a recurring
effect.

Firstly, it will give the idea to other groupists in need of funds that
selling AM land is a viable option. Secondly, good people will lose all
faith and trust that those at the helm of AM will be able to properly
watch over their land. Hence no one in future will donate land to the
Marga.

Thus there are two recurring negative consequences. Hence, there is no
question that - per Baba's above declaration - such lands sellers are
grave and terrible sinners, i.e. maha'pa'takiis.

BABA'S BLESSING

By His grace He has blessed us with the opportunity to safeguard His
teachings and AM lands. Unitedly we can fix the problem, prevent future
land sales, and reverse the damage that has been done.

Baba says, "Who else is to come and shoulder the responsibility? It is
you – you are to do everything. You are the torch-bearers of human
civilization. You are the pioneers of human march, and you are the
vanguard of a new civilization." (AV-14)
