== CHILD TRAFFICKING ==

Namaskar,
As Ananda Margiis, we should be critically aware about harmful activities going on around the world. First and foremost, our duty is to save the children. It is the collective responsibility of society to watch for the welfare of children. If our youths are exploited, we are all to be held accountable.

With the extreme growth of capitalism, exploitation is multiplying.

At present, in the US, 100,000 children are forced into prostitution. The condition in so-called 3rd world countries is far worse. Criminals are kidnapping young girls from poor countries and selling them in rich countries.

Here is how it works: First such kidnappers gain the trust and friendship of these girls, and then befool those girls into thinking that they will get a good job and have a bright future. Thus, girls are manipulated and deceived into thinking that their lives hold great promise. Little do they suspect the vileness that actually awaits them. The situation is grave and tragic and needs our intervention.

Most shocking is that teenage girls from our children's homes in India are also missing - and, some say, caught up in this mess.

Now please read this below article that details this horrible scene of child / teenage prostitution.

Namaskar,

FBI: Nationwide child prostitution sweep leads to

104 arrests, 79 children rescued

By Carol Cratty, CNN
Washington (CNN)  During a three-day law enforcement sweep targeting the problem of teenage prostitution, officers rescued 79 children and arrested 104 alleged pimps, the FBI announced Monday.
Operation Cross Country 6 took place from Friday though Sunday with more than 2,500 state, local and federal officers working in 57 cities.

FBI Acting Executive Assistant Director Kevin Perkins said the children law enforcement freed from their handlers ranged from 13 to 17 years old with one girl saying she had gotten involved in prostitution when she was 11.
"Many times the children that are taken in in these types of criminal activities are children that are disaffected, they are from broken homes, they may be on the street themselves — they are really looking for a meal, they are looking for shelter, they are looking for someone to take care of them, and that's really the first approach that's made," said Perkins.
"Once the child has been taken out of harm's way, then really the story just begins at that point," said Perkins. "That's where the real work starts, where we have to call upon the community, various social welfare agencies, our own office of victim assistance has to work with each child on an individual basis to see what their requirements are.
"This is a very difficult task. These children are very damaged — very harmed, and they need a great deal of help — it's really taxing the social welfare agencies and it's something that, going forward, we need to pay particular attention to."
Even though the FBI says 79 children were rescued, officials said there's no guarantee those minors won't be lured back into prostitution.
"A lot of these kids feel like they are in love, and therefore many of them will go back, so it's not only important that they get help, but they need a specialized kind of help," said Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
According to Perkins, the people exploiting children in this manner are engaged in organized crime and have business plans and strategies. He said such criminals know their market and will move kids from state to state to service clients. The criminals use various methods including the Internet to find vulnerable kids. They also may find them at bus stations or truck stops and offer them help as a first step to winning their confidence.
Operation Cross Country is part of the FBI's Innocence Lost National Initiative which was started in 2003. With 47 task forces and working groups, the FBI says more than 2,200 children have been pulled off the streets along with more than 1,000 convictions of people exploiting kids. According to the FBI, many of the convictions have resulted in long prison sentences, including eight life terms.
Despite those figures, the FBI and child advocates said child prostitution continues to be a serious problem and they called on the public to realize it can happen in any town and neighborhood.
Allen said the best estimate is that at least 100,000 American kids get lured into prostitution every year.

== IT IS HAPPENING EVERYWHERE ==

Namaskar,
With the rise of materialism, all kinds of social diseases spill out into the society. Where materialism is more extreme then things are even worse.

Unfortunately this disease of materialism is becoming more and more pervasive; it is nearly everywhere. And, as we all know, the goal of materialism is the path of selfish pleasure - by any means, everywhere. People are willing to do anything and everything to satisfy their crude desires.

For some, this below story may be very surprising. But for those who understand the underpinnings of materialistic life it is not surprising. Just it is very sad.

Here is the basic equation: When people just think about their own unit self then they want to exploit others. That is the theme of materialism. It creates a toxic environment. The way these young girls are being treated is but one example.

This poisonous disease of materialism can be eradicated only when we bring such topics into the limelight and make others aware. Then innocent young girls and others will not be exploited.

We should also keep in mind that on these points Baba has said it is an economic issue.

Please read the below and help bring others into the know.

Respectfully,
Mukunda

Up to 300,000 girls between 11 and 17 are lured into the U.S. sex industry annually, according to a 2007 report sponsored by the Department of Justice and written by the nonprofit group Shared Hope International.

Some 90 percent of runaways and children whose parents force them to leave home fall into the trade and are often beaten, drugged, raped or imprisoned to force compliance, said a section of the report.

Pimps tattoo girls with "$" signs or the word "Daddy" and take them to unfamiliar cities where they are more vulnerable. They are forced to have sex with men 15 times a day. There’s a high volume of pedophiles who come in just for the day” to seek sex with underage girls.

“We tell women who are abused to run, but when girls run, they become vulnerable to the pimps,” Saar said. “We don’t put the trafficker or the pimp behind bars. When you go and talk to survivors of trafficking, they talk about how they are the ones who were arrested.”

Typically, pimps recruit unwitting girls at shopping centers, mall events and on the Internet. Once ensnared, shame, fear and psychological manipulation by pimps make it hard to break free.

Clients, often called "Johns", hook up with girls via the Internet, through hotels, massage parlors, strip clubs and escort services, the report said.

"At previous Super Bowls [and other high-profile events], pimps hired cab drivers to turn their vehicles into mobile brothels," said Deena Graves, executive director of child advocacy group Traffick911.

"We are expecting thousands of underage domestic minors to be trafficked to the Super Bowl," says Nancy Rivard, founder of non-profit Airline Ambassadors International. Non-profit groups working at the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami supplied the figure, she said.

RESCUE

Law enforcement agencies and advocacy groups rescued around 50 girls during the previous two Super Bowls, said Graves. Six were registered on the Center for Missing and Exploited Children website. One had been trafficked from Hawaii.

"Even one rescue is considered a success," said Frundt who now advocates for exploited girls and has founded a girls' treatment center and a safe house for girls in Washington D.C.

To fight the trade, authorities, child welfare advocates and the airline industry are collaborating.

Representatives from American Airlines, Delta, United, Quantas and American Eagle are holding a training session to help them spot signs of trafficking. Rivard will also work with another 100 flight crews to distribute materials on flights.

Some 67,000 people signed a petition opposing sex trafficking as part of a campaign by Traffick911 called "I'm Not Buying It!" that is supported by 60 nonprofits and faith-based groups.

That campaign has also attracted heavy hitters like Dallas Cowboy Jay Ratliff, a three-time Pro Bowler, who made a public service announcement entitled "Real men don't buy children. They don't buy sex."

"You hear of sex trafficking overseas, but you never imagine it is happening in the United States or you own home area."
