Not Mania, But Phobia & More

Date: Wed, 30 Jan 2008 23:37:21 -0000 To: From: V. Rajpurhit Subject: Not Mania, But Phobia & More Baba "Toma'r ka'che ca'ite giye lajja' peye ela'm phire..." (P.S. 652) Purport: With so many worldly desires in my mind, when I came close to You I was thinking to request You to grant me boons. But without asking anything I returned in shyness. Because I saw that You know better about all my needs and requirements than I. What I have or not, that it is all within Your mind. Whatever little I know and however little I know You, about me You know far more than that. What You desire, You go on doing without my asking. Baba, You are my eternal Bandhu. You have saturated my heart with Your colourful charming attraction. Everything will be changed in this universe, but the garland of love which has been made, means the bond between You and I, that will never perish. Baba, You are most loving...
Namaskar, If nothing else, our duty is to safeguard Baba's teachings and present them in a complete and pristine manner to the world. This sacred duty Baba has bestowed upon us. Of course it is everyone's dream to also implement His divine teachings as well. And certainly we are all working towards that lofty goal. Yet, it has to be recognised that the first and foremost step is to keep all His teachings in a proper order-- in their original condition. Because if we fail to do this then for generations and generations the wrong guidelines will be in vogue. And not only that, at present also when we read Baba's discourses then we expect that those printed words are the actual words which Baba Himself spoke. This is our expectation-- and understandably so. Unfortunately, in our printed publications, at present, there are piles and piles of mistakes: Some due to blatant distortion and some due to poor working style. Whatever the reason these types of errors are rampant in all of our AM books. Such alterations are everywhere and the problem is only spreading as more wrong faulty editions are printed. So we need to reverse this faulty trend so that ultimately there discourses are finally corrected. Otherwise the phrase-- Baba's books-- will be a namesake only, as His books do not contain His true words but rather carry thousands of errors made by our Publications Department. Here are but a few examples for your review and assessment.
In this following paragraph from the discourse 'Faculty of Knowledge-3', one critical mistake has occurred.
"Various psychic diseases may arise if there is any defect in the process of the objectivization of mind. Remember that psychic disease and brain disease are not the same thing; they are quite different. Brain disease occurs due to some disorder in a part of the brain, or due to a congenital defect, or perhaps due to hereditary causes which hamper the proper formation of the brain. Mental disease is different. It arises due to a disorder in the objectivated mind, in the first stage in the process of subjectivization. Many people who, while creating thoughts in their objectivated minds, repeatedly form the same image out of weakness or fear, suffer from a mental disease called mania." (YP, '98 Edn, p.56) So in this historic discourse Baba is introducing His revolutionary concept about mental diseases, a.k.a. psychic diseases. Yet in last line of the above noted paragraph about this important topic, the wrong name of the mental disease has been given. That mental disease which Baba is describing above is known as a "phobia"-- not a "mania". Yet in so many printings and reprintings the Publishers have written "mania" when in fact, per Baba's definition, that type of irrational fear complex is known as a "phobia". But the Publishers wrongly wrote "mania". By this way readers may think Baba is classifying all such fear syndromes as manias. But that is not true. According Baba such conditions are known as "phobias". But the Publishers could not catch this point.
Some may think that this was a mere typo-- but please take a further look. In the book "Yoga Psychology" alone, this so-called typo has occurred in not less than five printings. The 1991, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2005 edition of the "Yoga Psychology" books all carry this wrong terminology. Once again here we are talking about the discourse 'Faculty of Knowledge-3' which was originally given in Bengali. And in all the English printings of the discourse the publishers and translators wrote the wrong word. And not only that, on the 2005 edition of the "Yoga Psychology" book, that very faulty paragraph has been specially highlighted on the glossy back cover of the book-- but even then the publishers could not realise their blunder. Plus this discourse-- 'Faculty of Knowledge-3'-- was also wrongly printed in the book "Ananda Marga Philosophy in a Nutshell" part 5 and also "A Few Problems Solved" part 7. In all these discourses the wrong printing of the discourse has occurred. That means, at minimum, this discourse has been wrongly printed seven times. There is no publishing house in the world that would create such a mess like this, yet that is happening with our AM Publications Department. So the problem is systemic in that it occurs again and again. First B group made the mistake and then in the later editions it was H group who made the error. And the chief problem behind it all is that the publishers have no interest in such matters. Otherwise before printing a new book they would review and correct the printings of Baba's discourses. But this they never do. Just they want to get a new printing out to make more money. When in fact the discourse has neither been reviewed nor corrected. For that reason and because of their inherent laziness and disinterest, they keep printing those old, error-filled discourses. This is the on-going problem. In that case who can claim it is just a typo. Rather by this type of repeated mistake it is clear that this is a systemic problem that will multiply more in the future with each and every faulty publication. Until finally the errors are just too numerous to fix. And the people just accept those wrong things. That is the fear; and that we should not allow to happen.
Everyone knows that Ananda Sutram is known as our philosophical treatise-- yet tragically this text also has been spoiled in so many places. Wherever the Published got scope to commit a wrong it was committed. For example see how they defined this below sutra. 4-4. Dvitiiya' sakale prathamodgame Bhaeravii Bhaerava'shrita'. dvitiiya' = second; sakale = having a soft sound; prathama = first; udgame (7th case) = sprouting forth; Bhaeravii = name of Prakrti in the second phase (fem. of Bhaerava); Bhaerava = name of Purus´a in the second phase; a'shrita' = sheltered On their own the publishers inserted the above word by word translation. But they could not do it properly. Because the second term-- 'sakale' does not mean 'having a soft sound'. Rather the 'sa' prefix means 'with' and the root 'kal' means 'germ' and the ending 'e' is a regular case ending. Thus the proper definition of sakale is 'sprouting or germinating'. And this make perfect sense too. Because see here Baba's original purport of this sutra 4-4. "Purport: With the loss of equipoise of the triangle, the germ of evolution sprouts forth from any of the vertices and moves forward as a straight line as per degrees of the gun'as. This state is really the manifested state of Purus'a and Prakrti. Here Purus´a is sagun'a [qualified], for Prakrti has got the opportunity of expressing Herself. Prakrti the creatress of this state is called Bhaeravii shakti, and the name of the witnessing Purus'a is Bhaerava." In the first line of the above paragraph Baba Himself says "germ" as in the "germ of evolution sprouts forth". And this is all reflected by the term sakale. But in their sloppy definition, the Publishers wrote that sakale means 'having a soft sound'. But that is totally inane and ridiculous to say like that. Anyone with a balanced mind can see that Baba's purport has nothing to do with 'having a soft sound. That idea is not at all present in Baba's discourse. Yet in their untidy and untrusted manner that is what the Publishers wrote. And throughout the Ananda Sutram book there are other such error present.
Now here see this next sutra. 4-7. Sthu'liibhavane nidrita' sa' kun'd'alinii. And here below is the word by word meaning which the Publishers made: sthu'liibhavane (7th case) = in the process of crudification; nidrita' = sleeping; sa´ = she; kun'd'alinii = coiled serpentine But what they wrote is totally wrong and incorrect. Specifically the first term is completely off base. Because the term 'sthu'li' means 'static', and 'bhavan' means 'house or mansion' and the case ending 'e' means 'in'. And anyone with any understanding reaches the point that full term 'sthu'liibhavane' refers to that mansion or house which is totally crude. Thus the term 'sthu'liibhavane' refers to the muladhara cakra. Because the muladhara cakra is the home of all static energy and it houses the sleeping kulakundalini. Hence the literal word meaning of 'sthu'liibhavane' should be 'crude mansion' and the symbolic meaning is the muladhara cakra. But instead the publishers wrote their own quirky definition which has nothing to do with the literal or inner meaning of this sutra. Here the point is that Baba is just giving another name for the muladhara cakra. That was part of the purpose of this sutra. But this point the Publishers could not grasp that is why they instead wrote their own silly definition. Now see here Baba's original purport for this sutra and the whole matter becomes perfectly clear that He is talking about the muladhara cakra. "Purport: The last expressional point, which is the fringe of the Bhava´nii shakti, is the ultimate state of expression of force - the ultimate state of crudity. In this state of crudity the para´shakti [introversial pervasive force] that is lying in a quiescent state as the jiivabha´va [finite subjectivity], is called the kulakun'd'alinii ["coiled serpentine", or force of fundamental negativity]. Thus by analysing this sutra from top to bottom it is clear that the word by word definition which the publishers gave is totally wrong.
There are a variety of reasons why this problem is going on. And these will be explored further in this next part of this series. Suffice to say here that the disinterest and lethargic approach of the publishers is the main issue. And when informed of the errors they only shrug their shoulders and sigh. No effort is made to update the discourse. That is why to this day the critical paragraph about margii rights is still deleted from the 'Ananda Marga: A Revolution' discourse. Yet as members of AMPS and as disciples of Baba and as students of His philosophy it is our birthright to have His books printed in the proper manner. So it is our responsibility to raise this matter again and again and create sufficient psychic pressure such that those lazy and half-baked publishers start doing their job in a proper way-- or they can give up the task and we will place proper people in their chairs. Otherwise, the words which we read in our AM books will not be Baba's but rather faulty translations and wrong insertions by the publishers. This is the tragedy.
By Baba's grace we will get His scripture updated and shining and make it a reflection of what He actually spoke. Then our AM books really will be divine. Baba says, "Absolute knowledge is the direct message from God...The books in A'nanda Ma'rga philosophy are all absolute knowledge." (PNS-18, p.10) Namaskar, Vidyasagar
**************************************** How Sadguru is Still Present
Baba says, "The entity by whose grace one comes into contact with Sat...that entity, or rather, that framework through which Parama Purusa is working or Ta'raka Brahma is functioning, is the Sadguru." (AV-3, p. 48) Note 1: And here below Baba defines the meaning of 'Sat'. Baba says, "Sat, the non-changeable Entity, the non-changeable stance, the non-changeable Nuclear Entity around which so many electrons move". (AV-3, p. 48) Note 2: That Sadguru still exists and one can see Him through our various spiritual practices. In that way one can have His loving communication and grace-- everything. So the form upon which each and every sadhaka ideates upon Him in sadhana, that form is the Sadguru. And through the medium of that form every disciple gets His blessing. And that is why still today when an acarya initiates anyone they say that your Guru is Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji.

Relations Btwn Wts & Margiis

Date: Tue, 29 Jan 2008 23:44:51 -0000 (GMT) From: Singh_Manindra Subject: Relations Btwn Wts & Margiis To: AM-GLOBAL Baba "Tumi esecho a'ma'r ghare..." (PS #3803) Purport: Baba, today You have graced me by coming to my house. This essence I understand-- that today I have received the showering of Your divine grace. Because I know how much sadhana I have. And I know that I do not have such type of strength of sadhana to bring You to my house. Still, amazingly, You have come to my house. It means You have graced me. I received Your grace; this cosmic truth I understand. Today I am seeing with my own eyes that the Supreme Controller of this universe is sitting next to me. Baba, You have come today to my home...
Namaskar, Here are some important points for building up our Marga.
Some may be thinking that if we bring all the various groups together and have them shake hands etc, then we will have true unity in our Marga. But Baba warns us that such type of a plan has absolutely nothing to do with unity. The example is given how bringing a bunch of mafia bosses or bandits together will not lead to the creation of a pure and just society. Similarly, bringing H & B & NIA & EC leaders under one roof will not lead to true unity in our Marga. And indeed it is preposterous to think it would. How is real unity to be established in our Marga, here Baba gives the pointed answer. Baba says, "Human unity is purely an ideological unity." (PNS-15) Baba says, "For the unity of the entire humanity, the indispensable factor is spirituality." (AFPS-2) Thus according to Baba, the only way to advance the cause of real unity in our Marga is to rally around AM ideology-- i.e. the spiritual ideals of AM. That is the only way. Should we overlook this tenet--- if we fail to pay heed to Baba's guideline and instead try to make so-called unity by gluing together various groupist fronts-- then unity in AM will be nothing but a far-off dream, i.e. it will be spoiled. Baba says, "However, psychic or ideological unity may be affected if we encourage the exploitation of one group by another." (PNS-15) Hence to establish unity in AM, there must not be the presence of any faction or group. None whatsoever. Then and only then can we raise the saffron flag of AM and proclaim that our Marga is united.
Some may also be thinking that (a) our Marga can succeed if the family margiis take over the mission or (b) if the wt's alone control AMPS. But both these concepts are totally defective. Baba's view is totally different. In so many places, Baba firmly states that our Marga must be comprised of Wts and Family people-- and furthermore there must be coordinated cooperation between the two. That is the speciality and dynamism of the Marga. Here below, in these following paras, Baba clearly states how both family margiis (householders) and wholetimers (renunciates) are needed for the success and prosperity of our mission. Baba says, "The dedicated monks and nuns of Ananda Marga have accepted their life of renunciation not out of any escapist mentality, but to further the cause of human welfare; and through their service, they seek to lead human beings along the path of righteousness to the abode of Supreme Bliss." (AFPS-3) One of the specialties of wts is that they can go anywhere, anytime. For the cause of dharma they can be sent to any remote location on this earth and begin propagating the ideals of AM. This is one of the great benefits of the wt system. Whereas family people-- due to their many worldly obligations-- often do not have the flexibility to travel here and there for indefinite period in order to do mission work. So wts are needed. Baba says, "Family people are required to know the necessary rules and regulations for living an ideal family life, and must follow them in both letter and spirit. They will have to take the vow to render more service to the society." (AV-7) Likewise family people also have their distinct role. By establishing themselves in local regions, ideal householders form the fabric of society by engaging in all sorts of occupations: From business to education, from medicine to agriculture etc. So many projects are carried out by househoulders as well as social service and the propagation of dharma. By being established in one place, ideal family people rise up as local leaders to guide the society. Hence it cannot be denied that only one side is needed. Rather there must be both ideal wts and ideal householders. This is Baba's guideline. Baba says, "One should first understand the two paths [wt or householder] and then take a vow to follow one of them faithfully." (2 January 1979, Patna)
And here Baba warns us what will happen if there is not (a) unity in ideology, as well as (b) coordinated cooperation between family margiis and wts. Baba says, "Due to lack of coordinated cooperation, collective effort, a proper ideology and sound planning, society has been fragmented into many belligerent groups and sub-groups." (AFPS-9) Thus if we do not pay heed to the above points of unity in ideology and coordination between householders and renunciates, then get ready for more and more groupism. That is Baba's fateful decree.
By Baba's divine grace, our Marga will soon become something to behold on this earth. Namaskar, Manindar
On 25th, 26th, & 27th Jan'08 seminar was organised by local margiis & DS in Shimoga, Karnataka. When A'c Sampu'rn'a'nanda came there as trainer of ranchi administration he was questioned by local margiis about the cancellation of DMS,Anandanagar of 2008 he couldn't reply satisfactorily. He was told by margiis to leave the place immediately. He ran away with the Rector & it was learnt that they were hiding themselves in the master unit of Shimoga.A'c Vimalananda also came there to influence some margiis known to him to get inclined towards ranchi group. His main intention was to divide the local gruhi margiis, but all his efforts went in vain. The local margiis unitedly conducted seminar. They listened to the lectures delivered by local senior margi didi, Manjula & few other senior margii dadas. Everything was in Kannad language. So local margiis & new comers felt very happy to know about Baba & His philosophy. Especially the margiis who know Kannad language only felt very happy. The whole purpose of seminar as Baba envisaged could be served. Similarly in Orissa the margiis decided to hold seminars in local language in the convention organised on 31st Dec & 1st Jan'08 after the cancellation of DMS programme. Kolkata group met Dr.A.K.Mohanty & requested him to organise seminar so that their trainer would take classes on their selected topics. But he refused & conveyed about the decision taken by margiis collectively. Note: It is a matter of regret that these sanyasi brothers & sisters are being divided into more & more number of groups. So there are more than one DMS, / seminar / administration in our organisation. The gruhii margiis are fed up with these groups & advocating for one DMS / Seminar / administration. The various groups intend to conduct seminar,DMs etc. only to show their authority over the margiis. Now all the margiis have understood this, therefore they don't want to hear from any central representative of any group unless until all the groups are united. ****************************************** Summum Bonum
Baba says, "Spirituality is the summum bonum of life in all its aspects." (I & I, 'Cosmic Brotherhood') Note 1: We all know that spiritual sadhana is the ultimate human activity and the be-all and end-all of human existence. It is the sweetest expression of life and by the grace of Parama Purusa it is this sadhana which transforms ordinary humans into divine beings. Thus sadhana has an extraordinary role in human development and progress.

Namaskar, We very much regret to report the mahaprayan* of Sri B.V. Rajagopalan a great devotee of BABA. At the time of his mahaprayan, Rajagopalanji was 79 years old, and his mahaprayan occurred in Coimbatore South India at 1 A.M, 25th January 2008. Respected Rajagopalanji was an ardent devotee of BABA since 1967, more than 40 years in all. Furthermore, Baaba stayed in his house at Coimbatore twice-- in the year 1967 and 1969. Two DMCs held in Coimbatore in 1967 and 1969. In addition, he was an instrument for their being held so successfully. Rajagopalanji was imprisoned during emergency 1975-77 for more than year in Coimbatore jail. He translated BABA'S speeches and books into Tamil. A very intellectual person having full knowledge of BABA's philosophy both social and spiritual. He had the capacity to convince anybody of BABA's sublime philosophy. He also had good contact with many people both margiis and non-margiis. BABA blessed him with MICROVITA SADHANA. At the time of this Mahaprayan, we pray to almighty BABA to take him unto His lotus feet. With deepest respects, Yours brotherly, Bhakta Vatsalam * Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in Bengal to describe the death of an honoured or even ordinary person. In that way the newspapers of Bengal are regularly citing the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away. Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily devotional term to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no devotees ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death). And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary on page 742. Checking there it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens.

Infection Inside-- & Outside

Date: 27 Jan 2008 23:28:57 -0000 From: "Gregory Hamick" To: Subject: Infection Inside-- & Outside Baba "Ba'hir vishve dhara' da'o na'ko, marme lukiye tha'ko…" - P.S. 3857 Purport: Baba You are hiding in everyone's heart. That is Your hinterland. Baba, You cannot be held in this external world; searching You outside is nothing but a waste of time. Baba, You always reside in the deep core of my heart. You remain eternally in that golden vessel deep inside my being. Baba by Your grace You give shelter at Your lotus feet to one and all. Irregardless of who is crying for You, and who is longing for You, or who is oblivious about You-- Baba You lovingly shower Your grace on all. You never make any distinctions. Everyone is Your creation so You bring one and all under Your divine shelter. With Your divine attraction and the resonance of Your flute, You call everyone close. You lovingly attract everyone by the pull of the heart. This is Your special call. Baba, You are eternally present and always smiling in my heart. Baba, You are so gracious…
Namaskar, Here are but a few of the many incidents that have occurred around the globe in the past week due to extreme tension in race relations: * "Hundreds of Shiite Muslims opposed to the government rioted and burned tires, blocking some major roads in the Lebanese capital and its southern suburb...and seven people were killed...It was the Beirut area's worst rioting since clashes between Sunnis and Shiites at a university cafeteria in January 2007." * "Hundreds of homes were burned in Nakuru [Kenya], regional capital of the Rift Valley, which has seen some of the worst clashes between members of President Mwai Kibaki's Kikuyu tribe and other groups." * In the US, the South Carolina Democratic primary was voted almost exclusively along racial lines. Thus in a country that already suffers from gang wars on the basis of race, is now once again seeing racism become a leading card in the realm of politics a well. The very same politics that has been trying to make racism illegal for the past 40 years. * And verily this disease of racism is creeping all around this globe-- world-wide. In nearly each and every country, province, region, state, city, town, and village, this deadly plague of racism is present.
Thus with our growing problems of racial divisions within our own Marga, it is quite evident that our AMPS is not alone in this problem. Racism is everywhere. The same type of epidemics and tragedies that we have seen in our Marga-- where our avadhutas have been attacked, beaten, and murdered in cold blood by other avadhutas, and where politicking is split along racial lines-- are breaking out all across the globe. And verily this has been happening for centuries and centuries. So those good people in the society who look to our direction for relief from this nasty dilemma of racism will unfortunately not find any respite under our roof-- not now anyway. Despite the fact that we preach the gospel of neo-humanism, day in and day out our Marga is being further divided and scarred along racial lines. And that fire of racism is only being fueled more and more.
Before presenting Baba's perfect solution, we should take a moment to examine why the racial card is such a popular one to play. Because generally speaking, the common people want to feel affinity for one another. Why then is the race card played by certain forces. Far and away, the most clear-cut reason behind the strategy of racism is that it is the easiest way for people to grab the power. Rallying people around a higher ideal is not so easy, but to grab the trump card of racism is an easy ticket to power. Hitler did it as have so many others. Yet each and every time it has resulted in disaster; because using a negative sentiment like racism to create a false sense of togetherness only leads to more crimes and more bloodshed. But again and again, power hungry leaders resort to such a strategy because it is the easiest pathway to power. Indeed it works like magic. That is why we are seeing the ticket of racism held in our current AMPS crisis. If there is any doubt, just examine the names: B, H, NIA, EC etc, and if one does grab a a different type of name to masquerade themselves, then just examine the linguistic / racial background of their self-proclaimed leaders, and it will become quite evident what is going on. Similarly the world over, from US elections to battles for strips of land in the Middle East, the same crude game is underway-- in nearly each and every country.
And in the face of all the blatant racism and racial inequality, innumerable agencies, leaders, and governments have adopted a faulty solution. Around the globe and in AM as well, people think the answer to racism is to recognise distinctions amongst the various racial groupings, as if that will bring equality in justice. Now most of the leading groups in our Marga propose platforms of a mixed leadership board, with a sprinkling of each of the racial sects involved. Or they give lip service to such types of plans and programs. That is the basic line behind each and every unity and peace meeting: To recognise racial differences and give all a voice. And verily this has been the pathway of the general public as well. Gandhi created turned the untouchables of India into the 'Harijan' and demanded that they get special favours and consideration, but that did not solve a thing. Rather it led to more and more racial and caste tension-- and with it more rioting and bloodshed. Plus in the so-called advanced nations like the US, various quotas and affirmative action plans have been delivered which serve to recognise different races. By this way, spots were reserved for various ethnic groupings in schools, office jobs, and governmental posts. But this has only further incited rivalry and distrust amongst the various races. And from France to Australia to Brazil to Hong Kong, various other acts and polices have been put forth that give partiality to one or another race, and the end result is always the same. More hatred, disgust, and mistrust towards the various races. So this idea of recognising racial differences does not work and it should not be adopted in our Marga. Baba Himself is adamant about this. Baba says, "We cannot build a strong society if we discriminate against a section of humanity by drawing imaginary lines of distinction." (HS-1,'Social Justice') Baba says, "Clubs that are set up on linguistic consideration may not be supported wholly on moral grounds." (HS-1, '87 Edn, p.39)
So then what is one to do? Baba's perfect Proutistic solution is to drop the race card entirely and simply view all as humans. And if in that grand human family there are some needing help and support, then on the basis of financial need etc, we are to give wide-spread support to those peoples, irregardless of what race they may be. In our practical AM philosophy, we must serve the downtrodden without inciting racial differences and hatred. And the way to do this is to ensure that the sick get medical treatment, the poor get financial support, the uneducated get proper schooling etc etc. All these things we have to do. But it must not be done along racial lines. That only creates deep divisions because people readily pay heed to differences based on external appearances etc. But if our help is given based on need-- and not race-- then naturally all will fall into the grand human family. So rather than say, 'More education for blacks', or 'More jobs for Hairjans', or 'More affordable housing for Hispanics, or 'Higher Pay for Africans', or 'Greater rights for Shiites', or 'Grant Purodhaships to NIA's', or whatever the cry may be. Our approach is to launch an anti-exploitation movement demanding justify for one and all. That is the only way to build a unified human society. Short of this, we will just see more and more racial rifts across the globe-- both inside and outside of AM. So this very strategy or launching an anti-exploitation movement must be adopted within AM and without, lest we see more and more bloodshed and killing in the coming hours, days, months, years, & decades etc.
The only way to fight injustice is to promote justice, and not further divide society along racial lines. By Baba's grace we will adopt His way and get success. Baba says, 'Equal rights for all humanity! One nation for all people! Tyranny will no longer be tolerated! No hypocrisy in the name of religion! All people of the world, unite!" (Golden Lotus) Namaskar, Gurumurti
In AM, since 1990, various meetings have been organised on a linguistic basis where only those from a particular language background will talk. Plus the group leaders will not go to any other group's programs. Also, posts are given on the basis of one's racial affiliation etc. So there are no shortage of such examples. By this way, without the coming together of all, there is bound to be separation and division. And all this flies in the face of neo-humanism. Indeed what is the use of such a philosophy if we cannot represent it ourselves. Baba says, "Who are the people who propagate this distorted humanism? Those who are motivated by pseudo-humanistic strategy utilize this strategy for their own selfish and group interests, instead of allowing humanity to move towards Neohumanism." "Then how to rectify the situation created by these people? By taking this distorted humanism towards Neohumanism, we may create a new panacea for all psycho-spiritual ailments. But if instead of that we allow humanity to move along the path of pseudo-humanism, humanity’s social, economic, political, cultural and spiritual life will be full of distortions and defects, which will pollute and degrade the human mind." (NH-LOI: Disc 11)
******************************************** AM in Comparison to the West
Baba says, "A'nanda Ma'rga metaphysics is really unique and revolutionary. Metaphysics as explained in the West is not supported by modern physics. Modern science, while attempting to trace the prime cause of creation, has been upgraded to idealism above materialism. But facts of metaphysics as presented by modern philosophers are supported by materialism or extreme idealism. Both views are equally one-sided and unscientific." (APH-4)

Spiritual Vibration in Sadhana

Date: Sat, 26 Jan 2008 23:51:46 -0000 To: From: Jawaharlal Subject: Spiritual Vibration in Sadhana Baba PS Intro: This following song expresses the deepest love towards Parama Purusa. This is Kevala Bhakti. "Ke go tumi ele a'ma'ri mane, lukiye chile korn gahane..." (P.S. 840) Purport: O' Divine Entity, who are You who has come in the abode of my mind. With Your august arrival, the sky, wind, and the whole atmosphere has become spiritually charged and filled with Your divine vibration. High in the sky the moon's smile has brought a surreal atmosphere of sweet love. Baba, up till now, in which unknown and secret place were You hiding. Baba, by Your grace, today in the soft and fragrant breeze of this spring season, my restless heart only yearns for You. There is no end to the longing of my aching heart. Baba, in the melodious chirping of the birds, in the isolated corner of my mind, please merge my heart in Your heart-- make them one. Baba, by Your grace today I have forgotten the old tale of crying and laughter. Now all the obstacles have been removed by Your grace. My one-pointed mind is rushing only towards You. Baba, today by Your grace I will try to please & serve You up to Your heart's content by singing Your song. Baba, by Your infinite grace You have made Your divine advent in my heart and taken away everything and made me Yours...
Namaskar, Sadhana is the mainstay in the life of each and every margii. It is an integral part of our existence. At the same time we all know that our progress in meditation is systaltic and that sometimes it is difficult to move past certain plateaus or feelings. Here below in this letter are some points from one senior family acarya for how to intensify one's own sadhana practice.
Generally, whenever we do our sadhana then a certain sweet vibration comes-- it happens to everyone. A distinctive blissful energy sweeps through the body and permeates the mind. And this vibration itself is a positive sign that our meditation is working, i.e. that it is fruitful.
From a slightly more technical perspective, we can say that there are certain stages of our sadhana and which represent how the aforementioned sentient vibration results. Initially by Baba's grace with our iccha shakti-- strong desire or will power-- we attempt to concentrate the mind. And then step by step the next stages unfold. A sense of surrender develops and with that devotional feeling & yearning we begin the repetition of our mantra. As the practice of our mantra japa continues and strengthens, then mantra'ghat occurs. That is, the mantra strikes on the kulakundalini and the kundalini begins to rise up. And in result a wave of sentient blissful feelings spreads throughout our being. In brief, this is how that sentient vibration comes in the body and mind.
So with our focused mind and right practice of meditation, a blissful flow consumes our existence. That is a sentient vibration is aroused. And this of course is a positive development. Because if we do not feel any vibration at all when we do our sadhana then we know that the mind was just running hither and thither; and, all in all, our "sitting in sadhana" was just a waste of time. So in proper sadhana, a sentient vibration must arise.
Hence the arousal of a sentient vibration indicates a certain degree of "success" in our sadhana. But as we know, this is not the be-all of one's sadhana. Rather at this point one has reached an initial plateau or crossroads where two distinct options present themselves. Either with one's developed nerve cells and nerve fibres one can manage and digest that spritual vibration or one cannot. That is, either that sentient vibration can be assimilated internally and one can continue to focus on their mantra japa and delve deeper into their meditation. Or, due to one's less developed nerves and according to their samskara, the sweet vibration aroused in sadhana causes an external reaction-- such as crying, shaking, laughing, rolling, somersaulting, weeping, bouncing etc.
So the key aspect here is that to further progress in sadhana then one must have the requisite strength to internalise that sentient vibration. Because if we give way to those sentient feelings and allow them to present externally then the mind gets diverted and distracted, in which case one can no longer concentrate on the mantra. And once one's mantra japa gets interrupted then sadhana goes down. Therefore all those external manifestations in sadhana-- such as crying, singing, laughing etc-- hinder one's ability to advance. Specifically, they cause one's sadhana to stall since at that point the mind gets externalised towards those outer expressions. In which case the sentient energy created by the mantra repetition just gets drained out. Here again it should be known that that the initial arousal of a sentient vibration is a distinct sign of progress. But in turn we should-- as far as possible-- not allow those feelings to leak out externally in the form of tears, laughter, horripilation etc. Over time these types of reactions should be controlled, i.e. assimilated within. So the challenge is to internalise that vibration. Then, by Baba's grace, one will feel bliss inside, yet at the same time the mind will stay focused and continue to devotionally repeat one's mantra. Then one can reach deeper and deeper into the kingdom of eternal bliss.
Sometimes when we see others crying or laughing or rolling around in their sadhana then the tendency is to think that the person is a great sadhaka or that their sadhana is very high. But actually all it means is that due to a weakness in their nerves the sadhaka could not assimilate those sentient vibrations. And in result that vibration leaked out externally as opposed to being internally channelised to a higher degree of sadhana. Thus if one is weeping or laughing in sadhana it does not mean that they are the top-most sadhakas. As there may be many others who have reached that same point yet easily absorbed that vibration and by Baba's grace could dive deeper into their meditation. So this is one aspect for us all to keep in mind: That we should always aim to keep the body motionless and keep the mind focused on our mantra and reach closer and closer to Him.
As we know, our mantra is a divine tool for calling our Dearest One. And with a heart full of devotion we should continue our mantra japa and focus exclusively on that in our sadhana. Then when any sentient vibration is aroused we will easily be able to cross that threshold and become further immersed in His divine flow-- in the kingdom of bliss.
Here Baba again reminds us that the path of sadhana is the most meaningful endeavour in life.
Vrtha' janma.....
Baba says, "The ideation on Brahma should be done scrupulously, or else you will later regret and bemoan the futility of your life with the last drop of your tears at your last hour. You should make your life worthwhile through your sadhana. How much can your worldly friends and relations do for you? After your death your relatives may perhaps ask, 'How much money has he left behind?'. Your friends may go to the crematorium and indulge in flattering reminiscences about you. Your husband or wife may cry out for you for about ten or twelve days and then regain their normal composure. Your lot will be only a profound sigh-- a record of the futility and frustration of your life. So do not waste your time lest you later have to repent." (SS-3, p.63) Namaskar, Jawaharlal
It is a constant endeavour for each and every sadhaka to become more and more involved in their sadhana. And for this to happen it demands both sincerity of heart and dedication to our ideal-- to Baba. In that case we can all deepen our spiritual practices by His grace. All in all, the above written topic does not at all pertain to those who are just doing 5-10 minutes of sadhana prior to taking food. All the above ideas are related to those who are deeply committed to their sadhana and regularly allot a proper amount of time to their practice. On this regard during holidays & vacations etc, we should all try to spend more and more time focused on our sadhana. Because otherwise in our day to day mundane existence it is not at all easy to deepen one's practice. For that it demands a focused mind and time spent in sadhana. So whenever possible we should leave our house and go outside for sadhana for an extended period of time to practice meditation. Then we will leave behind our worldly distractions and be able to focus the mind on our mantra and call Him with the love of our heart. By Baba's grace we will all move ahead in our sadhana and internally experience His cosmic bliss. By His grace may we all please and serve Him in our sadhana. Everyone-- all family members-- are kindly requested to write in with their sadhana realisations and spiritually related experiences.

Thief Inside the House: Part 2

From: "Ramanuj Subramanyan" To: Subject: Thief Inside the House: Part 2 Date: Th, 24 Jan 2008 23:40:27 Baba "A'ka'shabhara' a'jake ta'ra'..." (P.S. 2523) Purport: The sky of this amavasya night is filled with the stars. The sweet breeze, like nectar, is blowing mildly. The mind is floating from the known to the unknown world in divine ecstasy-- towards its destination. Ensconced in His ideation, my mind is getting lost. The lily flower is constantly looking towards the sky; the aroma of flowers is emanating all around. They have forgotten their awareness about their own existence. And remain restless in the attraction of one call. In Your longing I am sitting alone and counting the stars. I understand that by Your grace I have lost myself in this beautiful atmosphere and the attraction of Your love. You are ever gracious You are always remaining by my side and guiding me. Baba, on this amavasya night my heart is yearning and longing for You...
Namaskar, Anyone even a wee-bit familiar with Baba's pravacans knows that the explanation of Sanskrit words is a key element of His discourses. Most every discourse is centered around either a Sanskrit word or a Sanskrit shloka. One can pick up any AM book and randomly open to any discourse and witness this fact. Plus in so many discourses Baba has given example after example how Sanskrit is the mother of all modern languages and is related to all the spoken tongues of the world. This fact He has emphasized and reiterated again and again throughout His teachings. So although Baba had enormous responsibilities and His life was extremely busy, He has given a tremendous amount of time to the understanding, explanation, and study of Sanskrit. All because He knows Sanskrit is instrumental for the development of a healthy human society. Baba says, "If Sam'skrta is used human unity will be encouraged and human beings will move closer together. See how sweet the link is between Vedic, Sam'skrta and the other classical languages of the world? So you should encourage the study of Sam'skrta." (PNS-17) Here the chief point is that if people from various language background come to know that their various languages are all related with Sanskrit, then they will embrace this commonality and forget their external differences. That is Sanskrit is a unifying force. Hence, because of its universal quality, Baba has given a special place to Sanskrit, as it will help heal the wounds of humanity and bring a about a brighter human society.
Here, in this following discourse, is concrete and irrefutable proof of the deep and dynamic link Sanskrit has with so many languages. Basically Baba is telling that Vedic Sanskrit is the starting point or the top of the pyramid. And from that came two languages: (1) Prakrta & (2) Latin. And from Prakrta there came all the languages of India. So Prakrta which is a descendant of Vedic Sanskrta has many, many daughters and granddaughters such as Magahii, Bhojpuri, Oriya, Bengali, Gujurati, Hindi etc. And from Latin there came two distinct groups (a) Oriento-demi & (b) Occidental demi. The former led to the formation of French and Italian and the latter resulted in Spanish and Portuguese. Thus Vedic Sanskrit is the starting point of so many of the world's languages. And all this Baba spoke while in Valencia, Spain on 30 May '79 because He wanted Spanish and overseas margiis to know that Vedic Sanskrit is the grandmother of their native language(s). Baba says, "In Sam'skrta and Pra'krta – the Sam'skrta language was spoken by the Aryan people from 15,000 years ago to 5,000 years ago, for a long range of 10,000 years, and Pra'krta from 5,000 years ago to 2,000 years ago, that is, for a period of about 3,000 years. In Lord Buddha’s period, distorted Pra'krta was the common mass language, that is, the people’s language. In the later Sam'skrta, you may say Demi-Sam'skrta – it’s another sister, that is a daughter of Vedic Sam'skrta. Latin also has two offshoots: one is Oriento-demi-Latin, and the other Occidento-demi-Latin. Oriento-demi-Latin languages are French and Italian, and Occidento-demi-Latin are Spanish and Portuguese. Latin is the source – was the source. Similarly in Lord Buddha’s time the language was Demi-Prakrta.)" (Valencia, Spain 30 May '79 EGD) Then furthermore Baba clearly tells how Sanskrit is the mother of all the Asian languages as well. Baba says, "Sam'skrta is a classical subject as well as an ancient language. It is the mother of all the mother languages of South Asia and Southeast Asia." (PNS-17, p. 62) Plus it is Sanskrit is the root of so many Arabic & Middle-Eastern words. Baba says, "Silik in Arabic means 'fine fibre'. The fine fibres that came to Bengal from China were given the Sanskrit name ciina'm'shuka. This cinna'm'shuka was given the Farsi name resham and the Arabic name silk. Arab merchants used to export this cinna'm'shuka to the markets of Europe. When they were heard saying the Arabic word in Europe, cinna'm'shuka became 'silk' with the help of a little fault pronunciation." (VV, p. 35) Thus Sanskrit is one very special unifying language that is related with so many major and minor language groups of the world. So it is an essential element for creating human unity and indeed it is for this very reason that Baba has given us all Sanskrit names. Baba says, "At the time of initiation or shortly afterwards, those who do not have a Sanskrit name should be given one by the a'ca'rya/a'." (CC-1) So verily Sanskrit holds a tremendous place in both or AM and global societies. It is the linking point among all.
And that is why Baba has focused on Sanskrit grammar and erudition in so many books starting with "Prabhat Ranjain's Sarkar's Grammar Book (parts 1-3). This is a massive edition that totals hundreds and thousands of pages. Thereafter Baba followed up this study with His books: Varna Vijiana, Varna Vicitra, and Shabda Cayanika-- in that order. So from head to toe all these publications focus on Sanskrit and its relation with the various languages of the globe. There is no denying this fact and anyone with just a little bit of mental clarity can easily realise this truth. Through it all Baba is explaining Sanskrit grammar, relating it with other languages, and creating new vocabulary so that Sanskrit can be used everywhere around the globe. And verily this is already happening as words like Guru, dharma, mantra, karma, and so many others have been incorporated to languages all over the globe. And on the top, let us not forget this sacred guideline from Baba. Baba says, "If Sam'skrta is used human unity will be encouraged and human beings will move closer together. See how sweet the link is between Vedic, Sam'skrta and the other classical languages of the world? So you should encourage the study of Sam'skrta." (PNS-17)
Unfortunately, one team is adamantly against Baba's place. Certain Bengali heads have it in mind to undo Baba's glorious portrayal of Sanskrit and instead replace it with their own tongue-- Bengali. This is their narrow-minded agenda. That is why on the back of the Shabda Cayanika book they wrote that the book is about the Bengali language. But this is just not so. That is why many are saying that such Dadas are just like thieves inside the house. Because they reside in our Marga yet side by side try to toss aside Guru's teachings and instead implement their own thing, i.e. the Bangalisation of AM. For this reason many are saying that in the dark of the night some of these Bengalis are just putting their own signboard on Baba's universal mission of Ananda Marga. Here it should also be stated that prior to 1990, none of the printed Shabda Cayanika editions stated on the back cover that the book was about the Bengali language. This "gift" only started happening after 1990, when such opportunists felt they could get away with it. Indeed, this Bangalisation strategy was spear-headed by Sarvatmananda and, unfortunately, it also included his lackey Acyutananda. Without Dada A's support, all that nonsense would never have found its way onto the back of the Shabda Cayanika book.
So from top to bottom this is all one terrible problem that ultimately needs to be untwisted, rectified, and resolved. And those at fault should admit their guilt and ask for punishment-- and not continue to stand on their own silly arrogance. Our Ananda Marga is about Baba and His universal teachings-- nothing else. And no one should be allowed to step in and intercede in this process by putting their dirty finger prints on Baba's blemishless ideology.
By reading this some may accuse me of being a hater of Bengalis. But that just is not so. Consider this. In His dharmic teachings, Baba has spoken the truth about communists and their suppressive tactics etc, and by reading this some naive communists may think that Baba is a communist hater. But of course it is not like that. Only Baba is against those who exploit others-- as those communist leaders did. Furthermore, in His various discourses, Baba has spoken about the Indian brahmins and their caste supremacy, and by reading this naive some Indian brahmins may think that Baba is a hater of Brahmins. But of course it is not like that. Only Baba is pointing out how those brahmins have exploited the so-called lower classes. Plus Baba has spoken openly about the deplorable situation of women in the Muslim world. By reading this some naive Muslims may conclude that Baba is a hater of all Muslims, but it is not like that. Only Baba is opposed to the ideas that women should be 3rd class citizens. Similarly in this letter we are talking about certain Bengalis, and in response some naive people may think in their shallow way that we are Bengali haters etc. But that is not the point at hand. Just I do not wish to the universal mission of AM tainted and ruined by Bangalisation. So those naive people who think that I am a Bengali hater do not want to see the veracity of the situation. Right now, such Bengalis are putting their Bengali signboard on our AM mission. And if one person put their own sign on a neighbor's house in the dark of the night, then surely in the morning when the neighbor wakes up and sees what was done then he will be angry and upset-- justifiably so. Likewise, when we look around and see what nonsense various Bengalis have done and are doing to our AM mission, then naturally we do not want to tolerate this. One is justified to oppose their ugly agenda. Bengali is nothing but the respected granddaughter of Sanskrit, just like so many other languages are. And if any of these granddaughters-- like Hindi, Bhojpuri, Oriya, French, Portuguese, etc-- tried to proclaim themselves as the original grandmother then that would be chaotic and just plain wrong. Yet that is what certain Bengalis are trying to do.
All in all, I have full regard for the Bengali culture and language. I have learned Bengali so I may sing Prabhat Samgiita and listen to Baba's Bengali discourses. So I have deep appreciation for the Bengali language-- it is as beautiful as any other language on this earth. Only it is not good that one language should gain hegemony over other languages-- and that is what certain Bengali Dadas are trying to do. And in the process they are spoiling Baba's divine teachings. So this must not be allowed to continue. We must not sit still and watch this happen. On the whole this is a huge topic and there is more to say but this is what I have written today, with the Lord's grace.
By Baba's grace, we will untangle all these knots of Bangalisation etc and use Sanskrit to create a brilliant human society, as per Baba's wish. Baba says, "A perfect state of balance will be established between individuals and the collectivity, and between the collectivity and the Cosmos." (AFPS-8) Namaskar, Ramanuj
********************************* Food Problems and Their Solution II
Baba says, "In the event of shortages in the food and accommodation of the population of the world, people will convert uncultivated land into new arable land, increase the productivity of the soil by scientific methods, produce food by chemical processes with earth, water and air, and if this earth decreases in its productivity, then land seeking human beings will migrate to different planets and satellites and settle there." (PNS-13, p.45)

Namaskar, The poll results are interesting. Most still opt for Baba stories and devotional topics, with a score of 67% and 65% respectively. AM philosophy and a Proutistic interpretation of current events come in third at 55% each. Organizational news follows at a less significant 43%. What does this tell us? Most readers want to know more about spiritual and devotional stories and people's spiritual experiences.** The results also seem to suggest that Margiis are not so interested to hear about organizational news, perhaps because they don't know whom to trust. The Internet is blind. It shows everything it sees: illusion, delusion or otherwise. So the reader is left to judge what is accurate and what is not. The problem is that not all readers have a discerning eye to read the invisible script or what's written between the lines. So rumours, untruths, half truths, twisted facts and mangled information etc. are carefully packaged and passed off as facts. It also suggests to me that Margiis are fed up with the politiking and deft maneuverings of the different splinters of the Marga and their agents. This is both good and bad but a low interest in organizational issues may signal the lack of a practical and pragmatic approach to resolving serious issues confronting the Mission, which means the crooked will try to use more crooked means to get their messages across to fulfill their self-serving agendas. I hope my analysis is wrong! With all the rubbish we see on many competing websites, and with a view to long term sustainability of this website, I sincerely hope the gatekeepers of this website maintain a watchful eye on neutrality, accuracy and balance in your offerings... I wish you and your readers a good year. By Baba's grace things will turn around soon in our Marga and head in a purely positive direction. Baba says, "Nowadays, the entire human society is facing the crisis of civilization as a whole, and particularly a crisis in the field of existence. Human society is now to decide whether to live or to die. If this mud-slinging and intolerance are encouraged, humanity has no future – the future is dark, the future is sealed forever. But you know, I am not a pessimist. I am always an optimist. And I want all my sons and daughters to be optimists. And I want them to struggle against this death signal of humanity, and come out successful." (AV-34) Yours truly Birendra Note 1: ONE SUGGESTION One suggestion*: Collect the Baba stories and publish a series of new books (hardcopy but soft copies could also be on sale) for Margiis' and sadhakas' benefit. You couldn't get a better source. It's also a new source of income for your website, which could be put to good use. You'll probably need more hands at editing and verifying the stories. Note 2: SPECIAL MESSAGE BELOW At the very bottom of this email is one of Baba's very interesting critiques on materialism and its effect on the human mind etc.

Baba says, "What are psychic pabula? The word “psychic” means mental and “pabula” implies “mental objects” or “mental foods”. Communism and capitalism are essentially materialist philosophies. Both encourage a psychology of material attachment, which in turn encourages the pursuit of money, name, fame, etc. People living under either of these two systems develop the psychic pabula which run after crude physicalities. All these objective tendencies are the inevitable outcome of the continuous extroversial movement of psychic urges, insatiably driving themselves from one object to another. While running after such material attachments, the mind constantly creates objects in its objective chambers or citta bhumi. All these mental objects are mental food, and they are called psychic pabula." "Similarly, while engaged in physical or psycho-physical interactions, mind thrives on these pabula. When it changes its outlook and goal, its objects or pabula also change. So the human mind is continuously dragged in thousands of directions, creating innumerable objects within itself. These objects are nothing but psychic pabula (“pabula” are plural), always alluring and always detracting the mind. All these pabula grow out of psychic urges, psycho-physical demands, the reactive momenta of the mind and objectified environmental conditions." (PNS-12) Note: In the above quote Baba is warning us how materialism ruins the human mind and it is rampant around the globe these days. Baba is furthermore telling that the large majority of the people are suffering from this terrible syndrome. So we should all beware and not fall prey to this terrible fate.

Thief Inside the House

Date: Tue, 22 Jan 2008 23:51:19 +0530 To: AM-GLOBAL From: "Pandit_Sudhakar" Subject: Thief Inside the House Baba "Ma'nus' saba'i a'pan..." (PS #1090) Purport: All human beings are my own. We are all part of the same human family. Nobody is alien. All our heart's are threaded together and saturated with His divine love. We all have a common goal; our goal is to please Parama Purusa-- to please Baba by serving one and all. Indeed, all human beings are my own; all are my brothers and sisters. Marching together in unison, in one rhythm we are dancing together. And with one heart we are singing His song. We are calling Parama Purusa with pointed minds, all together. Everyone is mine, no one is alien. All our heart's are threaded together and saturated with His divine love...
Namaskar, When Guru has specially given something in a particular manner or method and then certain people in AM attempt to swap out the main ingredient and instead insert something else, is that not like having a 'thief inside the house'.
We all know Baba has graciously come on this earth to spread His sublime ideals amongst the whole humanity. His goal is to put forth teachings that will allow and enable all human beings to grow and prosper and live peacefully together. In short, during His advent, we can say that His main emphasis was to put forth AM ideology. And for that to happen, He needed to ensure that what He spoke and what He told told was properly understood by the people. Because His directions, guidelines, and instructions are AM ideology-- nothing else.
For this reason from the very outset, from the get-go, Baba spoke in ways most conducive for us to understand His divine ideals. Accordingly, He began educating us about the Sanskrit language. Because Sanskrit contains many of the words, phrases, and concepts needed to teach the ideals of AM. So Baba used Sanskrit as a definitive base for propagating His ideals. Furthermore, to ensure that the Sanskrit words were properly understood, He clarified and expounded upon their meaning and usage. This He has done in countless discourses; this anyone can verify. Thus teaching Sanskrit became part and parcel of spreading His mission.
Indeed Baba has used Sanskrit in so many unique ways in our AM. He has put the Roman Sanskrit alphabet in the beginning of every AM book; He has made the system for giving everyone Sanskrit names; He has given all our mantras in Sanskrit; and He carefully explained the meaning of Sanskrit words-- like bhakti, dharma, tantra, mantra, Ista-- in His various discourses. Plus there are so many other examples how Baba has used Sanskrit to put forth His AM ideology. All done so that everyone could understand the various teachings which He wished to convey to the humanity. Thus from 1955 up through 1990, Baba taught us more and more about Sanskrit so that we could develop a better understanding of His sublime ideals of-- because other languages did not have words to express what He wanted to say.
That is why early on Baba explained about the importance of language in discourses like 'Expression and Symbolisation'. And that is why in countless discourses in Ananda Vacanamrtam and Sabhasita Samgraha Baba explains the meaning, derivation, and application of so many Sanskrit words. Indeed such a large number of His discourses begin in this very manner. And then later on, when a strong foundation of understanding Sanskrit had already been established, then Baba spoke in greater detail about Sanskrit and its special relation with all the other languages around the globe. Thus in His books Varna Vijiana, Varna Vicitra, and Shabda Cayanika, Baba is further explaining the essence of the Sanskrit and its link with all the major & minor languages spoken on this earth, from French to Hebrew to Spanish to Urdu, and from Latin to Greek to Hindi to Swahili, and from Tagalo to Bengali to Angika to Chinese, and from Korean to Japanese to Portuguese to English etc. Baba says, "In Ma'gadhii Pra'krta, as in Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Maethilii, Bhojpuri, Angika, Magahii, Chattrishgar'ii, Na'gpurii, etc., there is no difference between masculine, feminine and neuter genders in the genitive case." (VV, chapter 10) And again, all of this was done for the greater goal of not highlighting any particular language per se, but so that Baba could clearly put forth His AM ideals in a way which was most comprehensible to us.
Unfortunately, some have understand all this entirely, and in order to highlight their own language, they propagandise day and night how Baba is highlighting the importance of Bengali. For example, in each and every AM book, Baba has designated a particular page for delineating the Roman Sanskrit alphabet. But if you open the Bengali version of those same books certain Bengali Dadas named that very page as the Bengali alphabet, 'Bangla Varna Mala'. Such is an example of their thievery. Baba has given something and they have switched it for something else. It is just like putting one's own personal sign on the front of someone else's business. It is unethical, illegal, and totally duplicitous. Verily the Sanskrit alphabet is closely related with so many Indo Aryan languages, but no other language community took away Baba's title of Sanskrit alphabet and put their own language name at the top of the alphabet page in AM books. Only certain top Bengali Dadas committed such thievery and distortion. And they did not stop there, they are also trying to proclaim the series of books like Shabda Cayanika & Varna Vijiana as being dedicated to the study of Bengali. When in reality Baba has given those series discourses to explain Sanskrit and its link with other languages so that others may best understand that teachings of Ananda Marga. But this fact those Bengali Dadas & their agents do not like to understand. Instead, day and night they engage in their silly agenda of the Bangalisation of the holy house of our Ananda Marga.
True disciples have no other aim in life than to highlight Guru's teachings. That is the goal-- not the Hindi-isation, Angli-cisation, Sino-isation, Spanish-isation, or any so-called isation of Ananda Marga. Only our goal is to propagate the Ananda Marga which Guru has given. This is our sole reason for coming on this earth. Tragically, some have some other agenda, some other ulterior motive. And even worse, some of these people are living right here in Ananda Marga and they are trying for the Bangalisation of AM. And this we must not allow. Only we should propagate the true Ananda Marga which Baba has given. That means highlighting His teachings and not some narrow-minded agenda.
Please excuse me as this topic is very long and there are innumerable points to convey. So to best respect the recent poll which shows that letters addressed to this network should be shorter in length, I am closing my letter here. In follow-up I may write again soon, yet also request other of our margii brothers and sisters to address this important topic. Here is a glimpse of what is to come: * Sanskrit does not have its own script, so when some books like Shabda Cayanika were first noted down in Bengali, then some top Dadas capitalised on this and tried to twist the whole topic as being about the Bengali language. Such is their style of thievery when in fact Sanskrit has been written in so many Indian languages from Tamil to Kannada to Hindi etc, but no one else tried to say that what Baba spoke was exclusively about their language. No one else had such audacity. * Baba's emphasis on language holds universal appeal as He is propagating AM ideology, thus He wants for all the languages of the world to be expanded to best convey human thought and understanding. This He has encouraged in so many discourses and talks like, 'Expression and Symbolisation'. * Baba's teaching of Sanskrit grew from the teaching of prefixes and suffixes to a full linguistic, historical, social, and cultural survey of Sanskrit and how it relates to today's world based humanity-- all so that everyone could best understand His sublime ideals of Ananda Marga. * And so many more points are coming.
By Baba's grace our special endeavour is to propagate what He spoke in its original form and not any other side agenda like the Bangalisation of AM. Because the very words which Guru spoke are mantra for us and that alone can lead the humanity into the golden era. Baba says, "Finally one must remember, Mantramu'lam' Gururva'kyam." (AV-6) Namaskar Sudhakar
Here below in this below section from chapter 10 of Varna Vijiana, Baba is explaining about the formation of so many languages, because in this series of books Baba is again and again showing that since Sanskrit is the mother of all languages, then naturally any complete discussion of Sanskrit will involve numerous other languages as well. Baba says, "In Ma'gadhii Pra'krta, as in Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Maethilii, Bhojpuri, Angika, Magahii, Chattrishgar'ii, Na'gpurii, etc., there is no difference between masculine, feminine and neuter genders in the genitive case." (VV, chapter 10) This proves how Baba is talking about all the languages and indeed in this book there are so many reference to Hebrew, Latin, French, Japanese, English, and so many other languages.
In the past a few who work for the Tiljala Publications team have written letters about how Shabda Cayanika is about Bangla, and their letters will be addressed in full. Detailed replies will be given on this public forum. Here in this introductory letter to this vast topic, a general overview was needed as to way Baba was teaching us Sanskrit. And, as we all know, the answer is to best put forth His AM ideology. That was the main point to be conveyed in this above letter.
********************************************* Fate of Groupists
Baba says, "Those who have not got any subtle ideology or goal are sure to become one with the crude world, one with the physical world, one with the world of atoms and electrons. What a dangerous situation! They will lose their identities and become one with the dust of the earth." (SS, pt 18, p. 1-2)

Formula For Solving the Problems

To: Date: Mon, 21 Jan 2008 23:43:38 -0800 From: "Hank Tomasson" Subject: Formula For Solving the Problems Baba PS Intro: This song describes the feeling of one higher stage of devotional realization. "Prabhu, toma'y kii kahibo a'ro..." P.S. 447 Purport: Baba, oh Prabhu, how can I express the feeling of my heart to You. I do not have any words to describe the feeling, the grace which you have showered on me. Always I am drenched with Your ahetuki krpa'. Since I got You in my life, my life became meaningful. I do not have any other type of longing. By Your grace, my mind is running always towards You. You made my life blissful, in all the ways. It is just like, it is full of nectar. The cimmerian darkness from my life it just went far distant. There is no trace of that. This happened since the divine effulgence descended in my life by Your grace. Now according to Your tune and melody, I am dancing. My day and night and entire life became just like one bouquet of songs. Even a wee bit of dilemma and confusion is no more existing in my life. What more can I express. This is all because of Your karuna' on me. My whole existence, my body, mind, and prana is shivering with the spiritual vibrations which You have generated by Your sweet touch. Baba, I have gotten You. You have graced me immensely. I fully surrender at Your lotus feet...
Namaskar, These days in this email era, letters are flying all about. So we should have a way to measure what is what: To see which has value and which not. Because now with the rampant spread of groupism in the upper echelon of our Marga, so many different types of mails are getting distributed-- Some big, some small, some useful, and some useless etc. That is why a standard approach is needed to verify the value of such mails. We should know which ones are supportive to the healthy growth of our Marga and which one go counter to that ideal. In general, we can classify emails about the status of our AMPS into three main categories:
[1] Leftist (criticism only); [2] Rightist (blind support of status quo); and, [3] Middle (i.e. Madhya Ma'rga or balanced approach).
Here below is an easy-to-apply formula to understand which is which. That way we know can neatly recognise which mails are constructive, positive, & productive in nature-- thereby allowing us to discover the right solution, apply the correct answer, and bring our Marga forward.
Or course in each and every facet of life, Baba is our shining example. And in our social life, Baba represents the balanced approach-- Madhya Marga, or the middle path. With His deeply benevolent and penetrating vision, Baba carefully points out the defects and offers a proper solution for each and every problem in the society. This is what Baba has done with regards to communism, capitalism, factionalism, party politics, starvation, natural calamities etc. In each and every circumstance Baba has boldly and courageously pointed out the defect, given the solution, and implemented a plan for advancement. This is His dynamic model-- this is madhya marga. And it is this which we have to follow; otherwise we will never be able to rid groupism from our Marga. So first we have to see if any problems exist or not. If so, then they should be identified and brought to the fore so everyone may be aware. And side-by-side a rational solution based on Baba's teachings should be presented. This is our balanced method. This is Baba's example.
Now that it has come in vogue to write about groupism, so many selfish-minded persons just like to mudsling their opponents. But this has no practical benefit. It is no different than what happens in mundane politics during the time of elections where crude politicians send out dirty propaganda with the sole intention of achieving their own selfish agenda. Just they criticize and criticize without offering any practical solution. Many or all of the groupist mailings by the various groups-- H, B, EC, & NIA-- fall into this category. Where only dirt and criticism is tossed around and no proper solution based on Baba's teachings is put forth. That is why Baba has nothing good to say about such leftists. Baba says, "Those who are leftists in the world...are even more dangerous. The defect&of the leftists is their hyper-activity, based on selfishness. It seems as though they are deliberately seeking out the dark and dirty aspects of life and, like flies, growing fat on the secretions of society's festering sores. It must be remembered that flies do not heal sores - rather they exacerbate them, because the very pus of these sores provides them with their vital juice. So the filthy aspects of society are the only wealth on which these artists and litterateurs subsist." (PNS-10) So in the groupist war, we cannot trust those power-hungry teamsters who write mails only to defame others and get higher posts for themselves. This type of selfish leftist tactic has no value. But that is what we are witnessing day in and day out on various Marga e-forums. Hence we should all be aware lest we waste our valuable time: A balanced approach is needed where solutions are given based on Baba's teachings. That way we can all discuss the path of forward movement and not just bash the current rulers. So none should get duped by the leftist model.
The opposite extreme is what the rightists do-- perhaps more appropriately, what they do not do. Such rightists, whether in the form of political 'yes men' or ACB tools or groupist lackeys, give blind support to the ruling faction. And they try to convince the masses that 'everything is fine; that everything is running smoothly'. This is what happens both inside and outside of AM. President Bush's chief of staff will openly say that everything is moving ahead properly in Iraq and that a just solution is coming soon. Likewise various lackeys of Rudrananda will tell that the organisational leadership is proper even though that very leadership has infused so many dogmas like scriptural distortions, demolition of BP post, expulsion orders, fake Ananda Vaniis, etc. And the same thing Sarvatmananda's team did earlier. They told 'everything is ok' and side by side they were infusing various dogmas to tighten their groupist regime. So always the rightists become the tools of the ruling elite. These rightists refuse to recognise the existence of any problem; they never think that such-and-such situation needs to be fixed. Baba says, "The defect of the rightists is their inaction." (AFPS-10) That is why in our Marga since 1990, none of the ruling groupists-- neither Sarvatmananda nor Rudrananda nor any of their assorted tools-- has ever come forward and stated that the dogmas of groupism should be removed. They have never done anything to wipe out the false dogmas plaguing our Marga. Just they sit back and nod their head and let those problems ferment.
In AM, according to Baba's guideline, our pathway is to follow the practical approach: Use our intellect and mind to point out the problems and give the solution based on AM teachings. This is what Baba wants to see done and this is how we build up a healthy society on this dusty earth: By fixing the problems using AM ideology as the solution. And that is what numerous margiis are doing. They are proclaiming: No more groupist agendas, no more fake Ananda Vaniis, no more expulsion, no more Fake BP Manual, no more Tiirthas, no more Mahaprayan, no more groupist dogmas. Such margiis and field workers see that groupism is a problem and recognise that the elimination of groupist dogmas will bring forth a clean and pure AMPS. So this work is going on by Baba's grace and the good efforts of margiis from all around. And this is the middle path.
At the same time-- some rightist types such as ACB tools etc-- do not like that anyone should ever point out any problem, even if Baba's solutions are given side by side. Such rightists cannot tolerate that. So in hasty fashion they say again and again that this type of criticism is impractical. This is their rightist agenda. They do not like to follow Baba's approach; they want to cover up all the problems and let them ferment. Those ACB and goody-goody types who do like this know who they are; and they should confront their inner evils and adopt an open, neo-humanistic vision by which to view the world. Then they will see that pointing out the problems and giving the AM ideological solution is the way of welfare and benevolence. And that will bring health and wealth to our Marga society.
By Baba's causeless grace, we will solve all the problems in our Marga. By that way the day is not far when the whole humanity will be together under the saffron flag of Ananda Marga. Baba says, "Human society will be established in this supreme idea in the very near future...The humanity of the universe will unite; and we await anxiously for that happy moment." (AV-31, p.111) Namaskar, Hitendra
******************************************** Lust For Beauty Brings Crudification and Degeneration
Baba says, "Those who are vain about their physical beauty, or those who pray to the Supreme to give them more and more physical charm, are reborn as kinnaras. They are also luminous bodies." (YP, p.79) Note 1: Kinnara is one variety of microvita that is under punishment. Such type of unfortunate beings got degenerated and became microvita. So they are suffering and they long to once again get human life. But this will come only after they escape from the noose of the long-term bondage and state of punishment etc.

Receiving His Guideline

Date: Sun, 20 Jan 2008 23:09:51 From: "Surya Rao" To: AM-GLOBAL Subject: Receiving His Guideline Baba "Arun'a'cale natun prabha't elo a'ji elo..." (PS 4754) Purport: By the grace of Parama Purusa, today the glorious new crimson dawn has come-- it has come by His grace. In this brilliant, new era, no longer should anyone remain drowsy or in a state of slumber. Now is not the time to look back and waste this precious moment. This is the time to rip off all those bondages of sa'dripu*, as't'apa'sha*, mohaja'l* etc, since they hinder our forward progress. Now on this auspicious occasion we should move on and on towards the Goal-- keeping the mind focused on Him. In the past, before this auspicious hour, in that pitch-dark atmosphere you were unable to see. Your vision was enveloped by the cloak of deep darkness. You could not see; you could not understand what is right and what is wrong-- what is dharma and what is sinful. Because of that neither could you move forward, nor could you pull anyone towards the higher Goal. Do not waste your valuable time reminiscing about those dark days of old. Now you should forget those memories and throw away that retarded and detrimental thinking. Just think and ideate on Him-- because human life is an ideological flow. Parama Purusa is our Goal. Behold! A new era has come. Look toward the eastern horizon, the crimson dawn has arrived with the seven-coloured chariot. It is so attractive and charming. By seeing that, the inhabitants of the whole planet have become totally captivated with joyous horripilation. Feeling the charged vibration, everyone is smiling in happiness. Behold, in this auspicious new dawn, even in the mud the lotus has blossomed. And by its aromatic fragrance the mind is divinely intoxicated. By the supreme grace of Parama Purusa ordinary people have started doing extraordinary things; and by that way the whole society is getting benefited in multifarious ways. The dark days have disappeared permanently; the era of neo-humanism has advented. Now is the time to sing and dance and move forward towards Him... ASTERISK NOTES (*): *Sa'dripu: Baba says, "S'at' means 'six' and ripu means 'enemies'. These six faculties in human beings are termed as enemies, as they absorb the mind in crudeness and stop its march towards the subtle. The supreme rank for unit consciousness is subtle, and anything which holds it back from reaching the supreme rank, is its enemy. These six faculties are, therefore, termed as six enemies. Ka'ma (longing for earthly objects), krodha (anger), lobha (avarice), moha (blind attachment), mada (vanity) and ma'tsarya (envy) are the six enemies." (AMEP) *As't'a'pa'sha: Baba says, "As't'apa'sha means the eight fetters. Anyone bound by fetters will lose his capacity of movement. In the creation we find the movement of human beings is from the crude to the subtle. That is, human beings have to move towards the subtle, but by their leaning towards the eight fetters such as lajja', bhaya, and ghrn'a', they get absorbed in crude things only and their progress towards the subtle is stopped. Bhaya (fear), lajja' (shame), ghrn'a' (hatred), shaunka' (doubt), kula (high descent), shiila (complex of culture), ma'na (vanity) and jugupsa' (backbiting) are the eight fetters." (AMEP) *Mohaja'l: (Literal: 'Moha' meaning 'blind attachment' + 'Ja'l' meaning 'net'). When human beings get stuck in the net of blind attachment then they cannot proceed towards the Goal. This is Baba's warning so in the above song the sadhaka is paying heed to Baba's guideline and tossing aside this mohaja'l and advancing ahead with the advent of the new crimson dawn.
Namaskar, As we know, in this world of ours there are two types of knowledge: relative knowledge and absolute knowledge. And in Sanskrit Baba refers to them as pra'pta va'kya and a'pta va'kya.
Baba says, "Whatever people learn from the external world-- be it from a book of facts or a learned discourse or any source of knowledge-- is 'prapta vakya' or 'relative knowledge'."(PNS-18, p.6-7) Thus pra'pta va'kya is that knowledge which is gotten from a mundane source. And that knowledge is relative and may or may not be true. Indeed pra'pta va'kya ia fallible and is always getting updated such as in the case of scientific facts and often times it is proved entirely false as well. And not only that, but that which we call pra'pta va'kya can create terrible problems in the world. Baba says, "Relative knowledge [prapta vakya] often encourages divisive ideas...It often tends to suppress other castes, communities, creeds, etc or wants to annihilate them completely." (TK-2)
In contrast a'pta va'kya, or absolute knowledge, is that knowledge which is ever-perfect, pure, & lasting and comes directly from Parama Purus'a. And it is always benevolent. Baba says, "Absolute knowledge is the direct message from God...and is always conducive to human welfare." (APH-4, 'Pra'pta Va'kya & A'pta Va'kya') As Baba is the Parama Purusa incarnate and the Taraka Brahma then certainly all His teachings etc are a'pta va'kya, or absolute knowledge. Baba says, "The books in A'nanda Ma'rga philosophy are all absolute knowledge." (Tattva Kaomudii-II) So Baba's guidelines like 16 Points etc are eternal and they are never going to change. They are absolute and Supreme truth.
In addition there is one other special notion in all of this. Namely that when sadhakas are able to concentrate deeply in sadhana, then by His divine grace they can receive knowledge directly from Parama Purusa and that which they intuitively receive from Him is also known as a'pta va'kya. Baba says, "When human beings, through psycho-spiritual practice, make their minds as expansive as the Cosmic Mind, they can receive instructions or directions directly from Him due to His proximity. The knowledge thus acquired is called 'apta vakya' or 'absolute knowledge'. (PNS-18, p.7) Thus devotees or advanced sadhakas-- due to their extreme love for God and His divine grace-- have the unique ability to intuitively get His guidelines. And those things will always be consistent with AM teachings. Thus if any fanatic proclaims that he has received the word of God and that women are to be degraded and treated as 2nd class citizens. Then we know that this fellow is a fake and a fraud and that what he is telling has nothing to do with a'pta va'kya. Rather it is all nonsense. But those great rishis of old who were dedicated to the Supreme Self did get guidelines directly from God. And those rishis shared great teachings with the world such as Samgacchadhvam mantra and countless shlokas and sutras. And all those teachings are 100% consistent with AM ideology that is why we consider those things to be a'pta va'kya. So a'pta va'kya is that which is eternally true and comes directly from Parama Purusa and when by His grace sadhakas link their minds with that Divine Entity then they also became a receptacle for getting absolute knowledge or a'pta va'kya. Baba says, "The development of intuition will make human beings more spiritually inclined. What Sagun'a Brahma is directly doing today will be done increasingly by human beings tomorrow." (POD #25)
Baba says, "Spiritual aspirants become one with the nucleus...then they become Maha'deva." (SS-11, p.33) Namaskar, Surya
Every margii is aware that AM shastra is tri-sha'stra, that is it has three sections: Spiritual, philosophical, and social. And all those come directly from Parama Purusa Baba. Thus all are a'pta va'kya. Even then Baba has made one special guideline in that He has classified His teachings of smrti sha'stra (social scripture) as pra'pta va'kya. And that is His unique way of giving permission to human beings to change that in far future according to time, place, and person. Naturally those changes will have to be in accordance with AM ideology and get approved by the great sadvipras of the day. Baba says, "Our social code provides clear guidelines as to how it's members will adapt to this modern, fast changing world. There have been more changes in the past 200 years than in the 800 years prior to that. In education, culture, dress, food habits, major changes have taken place. Old, outdated wooden shoes, turbans, etc. have been replaced by shoes, hats, and clothes of scientific fabrics and modern designs. The primitive bullock carts, horse drawn carriages, hackney coaches, etc., have been replaced with fast moving cars, trains, and aeroplanes. People used to travel by elephant in the past, but now man can travel to other planets by rocket. There should be an adjustment between body and mind to keep pace with the fast speed of the development of the external world..." "In a word, A'nanda Ma'rga's social code fulfills all the conditions of an ideal social code -- it is universal, rational and psychological. It is appropriate for the existence and development of a dynamic social structure in a changing world." (TK-2, 'Our Social Treatise')
*************************************** Size of Cranium and Spirituality
Baba says, "People may think that they cannot make rapid spiritual progress unless the size of the brain, and hence the size of the cranium, is increased. But this is not so because human beings can increase the jurisdiction of their thinking." (Proutist Economics)
