Baba

"Dakhin'a' va'ta'se malay suba'se mrdu, hese hese esechile..." (PS 358)

Purport:

Baba, You have graced me by coming in the deep core of my heart with a gentle smile - in the refreshing fragrance of a sweet, southern breeze. Baba, You are the most divine One; I cannot forget You and I do not want to forget You. By Your grace, by pouring sweet love, I shall keep Your divine memory ever alive in my mind - in my heart.

O' Supreme Entity, O' my Lord, O' the Beloved of my mind, O' the most adorable One of my mind, I will do puja to You in my inner sanctum of my mind and spread Your nectar of devotion across this vast, expansive universe. Baba, in Your sweet fragrance of Your divine liila, please be merciful and eternally reside in my mind - graciously intoxicate me in the spiritual realm with Your divine flow.

O' Lord of divinity, please take me to Your great abode - the land of divinity - by holding my hand, by holding my mind. Baba, after forgetting all fear and shyness, and after remembering You and keeping You in my heart, I surrender at Your lotus feet, remembering You.

Baba, please do not forget me I am Yours...

== NOT TRUE SOCIETY ==

Namaskar,

Baba says, "If going ahead in mutual adjustment only out of narrow self-interest or temporary gain is called society, then in such a society, no provision can be made for the disabled, the diseased or the helpless, because in most cases nobody can benefit from them in any way. Hence it will not suffice to say that all people marching ahead is only a collective form of segregated psychic phenomena; for in that case there always remains the possibility of some people getting isolated from the collective." (AFPS-6, 'The Spirit of Society')

Unfortunately what Baba is describing above is the exact picture of today's so-called developed western nations where the entire social fabric is based on self-interest. In the absence of a true service mentality, everything is done on a give and take basis - business relation. So long as one has something valuable to give they will receive something from others - otherwise not. In that setting, in that selfish scenario, those who have strength invariably solidfy their stand by taking advantage of the common people - by committing crimes and exploiting them etc.

Simultaneously the weak and the helpless suffer a lot and get stepped on by the rest of the society until finally they are completely aliented, depressed, or placed in an insane asylum etc. In that awful circumstance, people lose all hope in life and fall prey to feelings of insanity and suicide etc.

Unfortunately this is the lowly standard of today's western materialistic societies.

Tragically these elements are increasing day by day in our western so-called developeed nations and the people are suffering terribly. And not just in the west, wherever materialism is in vogue, then this horrible outcome is inevitable.

That is why in those places the term 'society' is just a namesake only. Even then all around the globe masses are madly rushing ahead to copy and emulate the west in all regards.

So we should be alert because this is not some great ideal to be copied. Rather it will create hell in communities around the globe. That is why Baba says that under such conditions - as described above - where selfishness and exploitation are the themes of the day, then that is not at all a true society.

Baba

"Sukhe ele na'ko, shoke sa'ntvana' dite ele..." (PS 3091)

Purport:

Baba, when I was feeling happy and content that time You did not come. Those days I was so enamoured with myself and I was so involved in my own glory that I did not even think to call You. So You did not come. But when I lost all that happiness and when I become drowned in my sorrows of self pity and when I was suffering and overwhelmed by various problems, then by Your grace You immediately came and consoled me. Baba in that desperate moment You graciously relieved me of my grief. Baba, I did not ever feel that You are mine. In this life I was always suffering from the vanity and ego of my own I-feeling. Those days I was thinking that 'I am everything'. Due to my ego I did not accept You as the Supreme One-- as my Goal. I did not take You as that most loving One who can solve all my problems; I did not surrender at Your feet. Baba, even then by Your grace You advented deep inside my heart and became mine. And now I understand that You are ever helpful and that You remain with me always.

Baba, those days when I was overwhelmed by that severe suffering, I did not outrightly tell You about my problems. I did not openly say anything. I did not express my pain to You. But because You are ever-present in my heart and because You are my eternal shelter, with Your infinite compassion You fully understood the desperate state of my mind-- You understood my sorrow. And by Your grace You instantly poured Your eternal sweetness and love. By Your grace You filled my whole existence with Your divine bliss.

Baba, due to my ego and vanity I could not recognise you. You were showering huge grace on me but I could not recognize that. I thought that due to my own qualities everything was happening. In those happy times I could not recognise You. Only did I begin to recognise You in my sorrow.

Baba, in my state of terrible suffering, when the mountain of misery started falling on my head, then all my friends left me. I was all alone. When I was happy then they were along with me but when I became sunk in misery all those friends disappeared. Baba, You are the exact opposite. When I was sunk in woe then by Your grace You immediately came and removed all my pains and troubles. Baba You bathed me in Your infinite love. Filling my I-feeling with Your bliss, You surrounded me each and every second. Baba, You showered Your grace and saturated my heart.

Baba, You are so gracious. You are love Personified. You have done everything for me. Baba, I surrender at Your alter...

== FEEDING FROM DISTANCE ==

Namaskar,
In light of the ongoing muddle of groupism, many are turning towards their service projects as their main interaction with the organisation. This is true for both margiis and wts. Of course we all know that we must not ignore the rage of groupism and just resort to some goody-goody life. So the troubles of groupism must be tackled by one and all. At the same time as we engage in our service projects, here are a few things for us to think about.

We all know that service projects are an integral part of AM life. Yet how they are to be built up and how they are to be maintained is not always easy to know. Should the money come from afar or locally? Plus to what degree are financial donors responsible for ensuring their money reaches the mark. These are but a few of the many important questions and considerations. Here following then are Baba's important guidelines regarding how to build and maintain service projects.

INITIAL QUERY

How far is external monetary support helpful in any project where local people are not involved? Or what happens when a project is totally dependent upon donations from outsiders? We can gain insight into this by looking at the history of Ananda Marga and the general society also.

HUMAN BODY AND MEDICINE ANALOGY

In one discourse Baba says that no structure can survive only depending on external help. Baba gives the example that if anybody is sick and you go on medicating him by external medicine injection, and if the body does not have its own vitality to pick itself up, then that external medicine is not going to work. External medicine is only helpful when the body is responding.

Or in other words, to give strength to the internal system of the body, some external medicine is needed sometimes. And that medicine does not do anything on its own; it just helps the internal system to pick itself up. In the case of a dead body where the internal system is completely defunct, then external medicine cannot help. If you go on giving medicines to one dead body, it will be useless.

100% EXTERNAL SUPPORT WILL NOT WORK

It is well known in the Indian history that there was a very big university in Nalanda'. The name was - Nalanda' Vishvavidya'lay. It was situated in Bihar. As long as the area was ruled by Buddhists, then that university worked fine. Means, that university was completely dependent upon donation from outsiders and from the King. The local public was not involved. So when the kingdom changed rulers, then antisocial elements set the university on fire. And in the library, hundreds of thousands of books were there. Nobody cared about those things and the whole campus and buildings were burned one after another. It took several months to go on burning. Local people were apathetic. So this is one factual history.

So in India we can see hundreds of abandoned mosques and churches which are lying uncared for, since ages. They were running well when they were getting donations from the Mogul King, or Britishers. But when the kingdom changed and donations stopped, then the places became abandoned.

LOCAL SUPPORT NEEDED

And other side, those mosques and churches which were supported by the public, they are still running fine. Or even better is that the Ashram system did not get rooted out during the Moghul or British rule because all the while the public supported the ashram system. So the conclusive idea is that if any project is run by or dependent on external support, then their fate is dark.

Thus on this very point, Baba's policy is not to take support from outside. Local people should be inspired to contribute and help the local projects. Otherwise they will not feel oneness with the project. And in most of the cases they will feel irritation. Or they will try to take away or root out the projects.'

WHEN THE PUBLIC IDENTIFIES WITH A PROJECT OR NOT

Another important example is that within Bihar there are thousands of schools  situated in the small villages. And initially the government was granting money for the construction of their buildings. Thus with total help from the government, school buildings were made.

But villagers did not feel closeness with the project. They were thinking that "This is an outsider project", or that "this is a government building. This is not my building."

Keeping this view in their mind, they did not like to protect that building. Not only that, after some time it was found that those windows from the buildings disappeared. Some villagers had stolen them and were using in their house. After some time, the roof was also taken away, and used somewhere. This is not the tale of one or two places-- Hundreds of places are like that.

The overall theme being that when the local public thinks of something as a government building, then at first they don't feel closeness. They think it is others', not mine. And they misuse it or destroy it.

So this problem was going on for a long time. Then under pressure of circumstances the local government changed the plan. That, the building will be constructed by the villagers. And teachers will be supplied by the government. 50% share villagers should give. So when villagers with their own contribution made their house, then they protected that. And the program was successful.

BABA'S SPECIAL TEACHING:

LOCAL DONATION IS A PLEDGE OF THE HEART

On the point of external vs local help for AM projects, once Baba was giving guideline to all WTs. He told that "You must collect donation from the local public for the jagriti. Whatever money they are giving, that does not have only monetary value. But something more they are giving. If some person gives you donation of one paisa/penny, then with that one paisa that very poor person gives the sympathy of his heart to you/to your project or jagriti, childrens home etc. And if antisocial elements will try to destroy that project or jagriti or school, those who have given their donation, they will protest. And if donation has come exclusively from outside, and if the jagriti is set on fire by antisocial elements, then the villagers will not be so much affected."

Baba further told, "But if the villagers' money is also involved as a donation in constructing that jagriti, then they will think in their heart that THEIR property is getting destroyed. And they will immediately come forward and protect the property of the jagriti and protest against the negative people."'

Thus the basic fact is that to erect some building or project, local support is highly essential. Otherwise the fate of that project is in dark in the future. Suppose if money has come from outside, and local people are not feeling oneness with the project, then in most of the cases, they will feel detached. They will not save the building. And in many special cases, they will destroy that building-- Or hut, or whatever it may be.

That's why we have seen, in the case of our jagriti or any such construction, where local people did not contribute and money came from outside, then that project could not flourish.'

WHEN TO TAKE HELP FROM OUTSIDE AREAS

The question can also be raised that is there any occasion when we should get or accept help from outside-- from other countries?

And Baba's guideline is that in the case of a big disaster like an earthquake, cyclone, flood etc, when a huge population is highly affected, that is a special case. That time external help is highly needed. But for making a local project or some jagriti building or a school, external help is not needed.

DO PRACARA AND SERVICE SIMULTANEOUSLY

Next scenario: If local people are not there, or if they are all non-margiis, then what should we do?

Baba says that first we should create margiis. And then immediately start the project. Side by side both the works will go. Without taking help from local people, if anyone does anything that will prove to be hopeless. One will not have any sentimental support from local people. Rather they will think that he is an outsider, or that he doesn't belong to them.

Because of all these reasons, Baba always emphasizes to do pracar among the local people. And one more related point is there. Doing pracar only among the outsider communities or migrant people, is not going to serve the purpose of Ananda Marga.

SERVE THE LOCAL PEOPLE

A critical case is that of Africa, where mostly Indian businessmen are occupying the money and political sources. And some WTs because of their ignorance or selfish interest, they focus on propagating AM among Indian businessmen who are living in Africa. But Baba was not happy in this situation. Baba used to emphasize and always take report about how many local people have been created.

One Dada was once telling in Africa at an Orange Farm, initially the project was made with external help, and it was a serious problem. Local people used to always come and take away/steal all the materials. And such example is not one or two. Hundreds of cases happened. We should take lesson.

THE SPECIAL CASE OF ANANDA NAGAR

External help was needed only, to build up Ananda Nagar. Because Ananda Nagar is our global headquarters. To make Baba's Quarter or road or rotunda, the local public is not going to help. Because they do not have direct interest in that. That's why Baba inspires one and all, all around the globe, to contribute for Ananda Nagar. That was the special case.

MUST GET LOCAL HELP

But in all the reportings which various workers attended since 1978 to '90, it became clear that Baba used to emphasize getting anything and everything done using the local help.-- Margiis and non-margiis are needed: Both. And then only, AM will flourish and school or any medical unit, projects, will be established. Permanently. Otherwise, feeding from the long distance is not going to help. We should take lesson from the past history.

WHAT SOME REVIEW

There are two points here. First thing, each and every sector has their own problems and according to Baba's system, it is the duty of the margiis that they should take care about the local unit and their own sector. And that is their foremost duty. Neglecting one's own unit and helping others for the sake of name and fame, this is not a good tradition. And the second point is that taking external help is not going to solve the problem permanently. For making a school building, local people must come forward.

A POINT FOR COMMON CONSIDERATION

Ananda Marga itself is a proof, at present we have several hundred Ananda Marga schools in India, and 99.9% of them have been made by local contribution. And there are also many examples of Bengal where a school building has been made by external donation. And common people destroyed it and set it on fire. But many places in Bengal are also there, where local people were inspired to help and they are donating and protecting those things. Surely it is the duty of we margiis that we should think carefully, how far their money can be utilized in a better way.

Baba says, "O human beings, frame the social structure considering the needs of humanity. Do not try to do anything for your petty personal and group interests..." (SS-1, Ch.1)

Namaskar,
Manindra

Note 1:  WHAT WE SHOULD DO -- OUR RESPONSIBILITY

And another point is that if we are the ones donating to a far distant service project and if due to mishandling of funds our money does not reach there, then according to Baba's teaching about tapah we are also to blame-- not just the crooked thief who captured our money. We also will incur negative samskara. Of course this is just a hypothetical situation, yet the point remains that the responsibility also lies with the donor. That is why intelligent margiis give to local projects where they can ensure that everything is proper and the money is going in the right direction. Then of course by this way the common public will also get inspired to donate because everyone likes to be part of a winning project. At the same time we should demand that there be transparency of the financial books-- ie proper accounting. And like this there are numerous points regarding service projects and financial contributions etc. Please also share your ideas on this important topic.

Solution

Baba says, "This has been our failing: that we neglected the spiritual faculties of human life, we neglected the cardinal spiritual points of life. If we are interested today in the welfare of this beautiful universe, we should try more and more to accelerate the speed of spiritual progress. If the acceleration of spiritual progress becomes tremendous, then not only in the human world, but also in the physical, psychic and spiritual spheres of the entire world -- and not only of the entire animate world, but of both the animate and inanimate worlds -- there will be tremendous progress. And this is what we want. Now we are anxiously waiting for that crimson dawn on the eastern horizon." (AFPS-5)

Note: Generally people do not realise this very thing which Baba has explained above. To understand this fully it needs agraya' buddhi (pointed intellect). Only those who are blessed sadhaka can understand that sadhana is the panacea.

What Should Be Done First

Baba

"Ka'nt'a'y ya'r'a' bhariyechilo, ka'nt'a'r gha'ye ta'ra'i gelo.
Naetikata' ha'riye phele jar'er pu'ja karechilo..." (PS 4756)

Purport:

Those immoralists who were worshippers of crude materialism, in their
wicked way, such anti-social elements have spread thorns all around to harm
& destroy others. They intentionally wanted to hurt innocent people. But
these same anti-social elements have gotten wounded and annihilated by
their very own thorns*.
Such sinners were only infatuated with dogma; they did not have love and
affection for anyone. They wanted to establish crude materialism at the
cost of millions of lives-- but everything went into vain. Their hellish
plan totally crumbled.
The natural tendency of the human mind is to oppose sin; and the innate
feeling of the human mind is to be free. In their attempt to pulverise
these two unique human qualities, the sinful demons used a steamroller to
try and crush the human spirit. But ultimately those immoralist themselves
got destroyed by those very blows. And the victory of humanity and dharma
got established, by the grace of Parama Purusa. The golden dawn arrived by
Baba's grace...

Note: In this first line of the above Prabhat Samgiita, "Ka'nt'a'y ya'r'a'
bhariyechilo ka'nt'a'r gha'ye ta'ra'i gelo", Baba Himself shows how the
immoralists have destroyed themselves-- by their own very blows. One
boomerang effect happened. Likewise in His below discourse, Baba is
directly referring to the downfall of communism & stating how the communist
leaders will meet this same dark fate. In 1982 Baba delivered this
following passage and within a decade all the main communist leaders were
wiped away from the face of the earth.

Baba says, "The wickedness, the deceit, that pollutes human society first
moves along a crooked path like its masters, and finally ends up by
annihilating its masters themselves. The wicked persons at the helm of
affairs, who are now out to liquidate others, will one day themselves be
liquidated and erased from history by their own followers. Sinful persons,
by following the crooked path, contaminate the atmosphere of the universe,
but ultimately that sinful conduct, in a similar crooked way, will recoil
like a boomerang on the sinners themselves." (NSS, Shivokti 10)

Note 2: In the above song, Baba employs two English words: dogma and
steamroller. Thus even though the entire song is in Bangla, the above two
words are used in the lyrics and printed using Bengali script. After being
transliterated into Roman Sanskrit, the words are written as: d'agama' &
s't'iimarola'r.

== WHAT SHOULD BE DONE FIRST TO BEST BRING WELFARE TO SOCIETY ==

                                   ~ BABA'S MANDATE ~

Namaskar,
Baba has clearly stated in various discourses that, in general, people want
to do something to help and improve the society. Most have a genuine desire
to do something good. But the main hurdle in this process is that they do
not know how to proceed; they do not know what to do.

Because bringing about real social welfare and the upliftment of humanity
is not an easy job. Therefore, in their confusion, people often end up
doing the wrong thing at the wrong time, or they do something which
produces an undesirable result etc.

So in order to best serve the society and ensure that really we are
bringing welfare to the humanity, we should pay heed to Baba's below
directives. Because only His crystal clear tenants stand as the guiding
light for bringing positive changes and prosperity to the world.

'I WILL DO SOME CONSTRUCTIVE WORK'

One of the most common things people think to do in their attempt to improve
society is to immediately engage in some constructive work. They mistakenly
think by this way they can bring about a good result. But as Baba warns us
this does not always work.

Baba says, "It may not be possible to bring about social welfare through
constructive programmes." (NKS, '97, p.233)

For example, nowadays in our Marga, people have gotten frustrated by the
way the organisation is running so in their naive way of thinking they
decide that by hook or by crook they should engage in some 'constructive
work'. Because in their limited view they think this is the only way to
serve the society.

Following this pathway, they may go off on their own and start their own
Master Unit, or they may form their own service project, or even they may
even start their own social service organisation etc. Or they may resort to
other ways in order to do something concrete for the world. But Baba warns
us that such faulty approaches will not work.

Because ultimately we have to form one unified human society. And by
dividing the organisation or breaking away on one's own just because it
seems easier to do some 'constructive programme' that way, this will not
bring about a beneficial result. Initially from a narrow-minded perspective
it may look like the project is really great; and by this way people may
get ego-satisfaction. But ultimately such efforts will go in vain. Because
where is the guarantee that their project will not undergo some difficulty.
In that case what will they do? Run away and start yet another new
programme or organisation etc.

So those who blindly think that doing constructive work is the first and
foremost means to serve the world cannot bring true welfare to society.
Rather, they end up creating more divisions and factionalism or some other
wayward result. This we have seen in the past and this we will see in the
future also.

That is why Baba has issued His strict warning against this way of doing.

Baba says, "It may not be possible to bring about social welfare through
constructive programmes." (NKS, '97, p.233)

                     'I WILL FIGHT AGAINST INJUSTICE'

Secondly, people often think that at any at all cost they must wage a war
against injustice. They think that by this way the world will become
better. But here again Baba directly warns us that this approach also will
not work.

Baba says, "It may not be possible to bring about social welfare
through...the struggle against injustice alone." (NKS, '97, p.233)

For example, in the hoary past, when slavery was at its peak either in the
US, Egypt, or wherever, then merely waging a war against those slave-owners
did not work. Because those slaves were being fed and housed by those
slave-owners and many of the slaves were thinking that everything was
alright. Their masters were providing them with heart and home so those slaves
were not thinking that anything was wrong. And they did not want to see anyone
opposing and fighting their masters. In that case fighting against those
injustices will not be fruitful.

Similarly today, if with the full banner of struggle one attempts to stand
up against the ruling vaeshyas, then many people amongst the common mass
will not support that fight. Because those people think that they get their
bread and butter from those capitalist business leaders. And if those
capitalists are torn down then the people think they will be without food
and water. Or they simply feel obliged and indebted to those ruling
capitalists. Although, it has to be admitted that which each passing down
the commmon people are having less and less faith in the vaeshyan leaders.

Whatever the case may be, in both the above circumstances, with regards to
those ruthless slave owners and the blood-sucking capitalists, even though
there is the presence of massive exploitation, fighting outrightly against
that injustice will not bring about true social change because the people
are not ready to support that stand.

About this Baba has given His clear-cut guideline.

Baba says, "Revolution may not take place unless the exploited masses are
psychologically prepared for revolution. If the people do not support
revolution, the clarion call for revolution will not be heeded." (PNS-21)

For this reason Baba warns us that merely fighting against injustice cannot
bring welfare to the world.

Baba says, "It may not be possible to bring about social welfare
through...the struggle against injustice alone." (NKS, '97, p.233)

                      SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS NEEDED

So in order to bring about real positive changes to the world, another key
ingredient is needed. Something more is needed. And that special
requirements is social consciousness. This is Baba's expressed teaching.

Baba says, "Without arousing social consciousness, it is next to impossible
to bring about social welfare." (PNS-21, p.63)

Thus to really uplift the humanity there must be wide-spread education
amongst the common people until their eyes are open and their mind is
awake. So arousing social consciousness is the first and most important
step towards bringing lasting positive changes to the world.

Here again in His below teaching Baba furthermore emphasizes the need to
arouse social consciousness amongst the people.

Baba says, "In order to save humanity from economic exploitation (whether
politico-economic or psycho-economic), you must raise the people's
consciousness, otherwise they will never be able to successfully resist
psycho-economic or politico-economic exploitation." (NH-LOI, 'Exploitation
& Pseudo-Culture')

Thus whether in our Marga or in the general society, one key point for
doing real service and creating that wave of positive change is heightened
awareness about the conditions of the day. Once the people are awakened to
the fact that something needs to be done and that there is exploitation
rampant in every corner, then in a united away they will rise up and
support the call for progressive social change.

                            BABA'S BLESSING

By Baba's grace He has blessed us with His Proutistic vision for bringing
about social change-- where the minds of the people get awakened and
aroused and people develop a heightened social consciousness. By this way
truly positive changes are made and society can advance.

Baba says, "The old era is replaced by a new era-- one collective
psychology is replaced by another. This type of revolution results in
all-round development and social progress." (PNS-21, p.60)

Namaskar,
Girish

Note 1:              RECENT HISTORY IN OUR MARGA

In our own AMPS it was just a few 3, 5, or 7 years ago that some margiis were
not commonly aware that groupism was rampant the Marga. In that case people
were not ready to hear or listen to any plans or ideas about fixing the
problems. But now that social consciousness has gradually spread amongst
each and every margii, all are becoming aware about the lustful ways of the
various groupist leaders. People feel there is a distinct need for everyone
including those at the helm to follow Baba's teachings. On this foundation
of understanding, step by step we are getting in prime position to bring
about all the changes needed to create that seamless AMPS organisation that
is firmly rooted in Baba's ideological teachings. Ours will soon be that
AMPS which will lead the whole humanity from darkness into light.

                       Most Precious Jewel

Baba says, "When one suddenly finds any jewel-- any rare and costly jewel--
then immediately they pick it up and keep it close to their breast--
leaving everything else behind, forgetting all other things, not even
caring about their prestige. As far as possible one then keeps it hidden
from others. Among all the jewels, the most precious is Parama Purusa."

BABA

"Jamiin a'sama'n tumha'ra', tumha'ra' jaha'n sa'ra'..."   (P.S. 4335)

Purport:

Baba, this earth & this vast blue sky belongs to You. Not only that,
but this entire universe is Your property. You are the sole owner of
everything. I am Yours; You are mine. I want to move according to Your
direction. You are my everything.

You are the source of all energy. Whatever strength the sun has,
it is coming from You. Similarly whatever fragrance comes from the
flower garden, that is Your fragrance. You are the divine Entity which
decorates everyone's heart.

Baba, You are always with everyone in sorrow as well as in happiness,
equally. You are always residing in my heart; in Your longing my eyes
are showering tears. Baba, You are the controller of everything. This
entire created world belongs to You. You are mine and I am Yours...

== PRE-REQUISITE FOR DOING SERVICE ==

Namaskar,
As we are all human beings our desires are infinite. So our longings can
only be satisfied by achieving that Divine entity. Power, post, or chair
cannot satiate our unlimited hunger. Human life in the true spirit of
the term is indeed very rare. Without proper preparation, if anyone
indulges in politics then they lose the goal. Unfortunately due to a lack of
spiritual motivation usually people start doing negative things.

Here then is some reminding of a few of our past historical incidents.

As we all know Baba began teaching AM sadhana in 1939 and ultimately
formed and registered the organisation (AMPS) in 1955. And in those
early days there was only an emphasis on sadhana. And it took some years
to create the necessary base for doing Prout work. And it was not until
1959 that Baba revealed His Prout theory.

Any rational margii can understand that if anyone with only superficial
spiritual feeling engages in some socially responsible post, then there
is a strong possibility for things to go awry.

In contrast, when the goal is Parama Purusa then the feeling naturally
comes that I want to serve Him by doing social service. But when the
mind is low, then in that lower condition usually people think that for
the sake of post, power, prestige I have to do something. That very time
the real problems start. Because when work is done for personal, selfish
gain, then that invariably  brings problems.

And when any social service is done to serve Parama Purusa then that is
great and ideal. And this is not possible without proper sadhana.
Nowadays in this world when the material side has been developed, surely
then general human beings have better facilities in comparison to the
human beings of 10,000 years back.

This facility is not related only in mundane sphere-- the present day
humanity is blessed in various ways. At present we have the teachings of
total of three Mahasambhutis. Although essentially One in spirit, but
Parama Purusa has taken advent three separate times in the forms of Lord
Shiva, Lord Krsna, and Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. And with His
divine teachings present day human beings can manage better progress in
spiritual life in a very short period.

In the past yogis and rishis were doing very long penance their entire
lives, sitting in caves of the Himalayas. But now realisation can be
attained in a few decades. Baba has made it very easy. So we are all
blessed ones. Please read the following quotations.

Baba says, "Today human beings are progressing in the realm of
intellectuality. To attain the culminating point of spirituality the
human beings of today have to face less obstacles than the people of the
past such as Mahars'i Vishvamitra, Mahars'i Agastya, etc. The
development of the glands and the amount of the hormone secretions is
much greater than 100,000 years ago." (PNS-17, p.36)

Baba's guideline continues:

Baba says, "Transformation in human psychology will come about through
spiritual practices. So I advise each human being that as long as you
are alive, you should try to build yourself in a nice way, in a complete
way." (PNS-17, p.37)

Baba says, "The only way of achieving emancipation is through
sadhana...The wise would therefore start sadhana as early as possible
and attain emancipation quickly...It is hence imperative for everyone to
achieve emancipation quickly by practising sadhana. Intuitional practice
(sadhana) is the innate duty that everyone has to perform." (AMEP)

Note 1: The following are Baba's teachings about doing the necessary
spiritual preparation before engaging in social service. Due to this
deficiency that is why the H-B group fight started and why it is going
on still today. And that is why Purodhaship and chair became the focal
point. When the goal should have been serving Parama Purusa. In this
regard sadhana is the solution:

Baba says, "One should realize that to render selfless service, an
absolutely pure mind is required with the expansiveness of the vast
ocean and the serenity of the blue sky. Otherwise, while promoting the
welfare of the world, one may develop a selfish desire in one's mind in
a weak moment, as a result of which one may bring harm to oneself as
well as to the universe. (NSS, p.145)

Baba says, "The spirit of serving comes from the spirit of serving the
Supra-Conscious Entity, [Parama Purusa]. Where the spirit of serving the
Supra-Mental Entity is lacking, there cannot be any service spirit in
any emanation or any manifestation." (Prout-12, p.6)

Note 2: Here following Baba further guides us about the need to partake
in proper psycho-spiritual training and tapah before engaging in social
service endeavours.

Baba says, "Those who do not aim at self-realization cannot promote the
welfare of the world either." (NSS '95 ed, p.174)

Here it is clear that to do social service, a spiritual personality is
needed. That's why when Baba propounded the Prout theory then He told,
that first one has to create sadhakas. And gradually each one will
develop into a strong personality, and become sadvipra. And with that
strong personality if they will take responsibility to lead the society,
then they will be able to do. Otherwise, if personality is not made. Then...

Baba says, "If there is no strength in the neck and if 200 lbs of weight
is put on the head then the neck will be broken. If human beings are not
trained properly and they do not have the necessary psycho-spiritual
strength- due to not following dharma-- then their protest movement or
march against exploitation or fight against corruption will be useless.
First you have to create proper human beings. And then they will be able
to carry the responsibility. Otherwise all your efforts and protest
against corruption will be impotent and futile." (SS-16, Hindi Edn)

To Become Family Acarya

Baba says, "Only those persons who are sincere, spirited and endowed
with sharp intellect; and who understand and can make others understand
the philosophy will be considered eligible to become acaryas." (CC-1,
'95 Edn, p.12)

Note: In the current times, Baba's above golden guideline is being used
"for show only". Unfortunately, the reality is that family acaryas are
made on the basis of (a) approaching Centre with one's hands and arms
raised above one's head in surrender; and (b) going on filling Centre's
pockets one after another. If these two qualifications are fulfilled,
that is  enough. No other qualification is necessary.
