In His related discourses, Baba guides us that we should know and understand history. History itself is important - without it one will just repeat the same mistakes made in the past.

Along with the longer-term history of our AM history, as Ananda Margiis we should also know the events which have taken place in the organisation since 1990. So many margiis fought to uphold our AM ideology. We should know what problems they faced and how they struggled. Then we will be best able to prevent such episodes in the future,

The following is one critical incident from this time.


                                    THE STORY STARTS LIKE THIS

Just a few months ago, in mid-December 2010, after a sadhana program held in Alibag (Mumbai) one well-intentioned margii (referred herein as margii K) wrote a public letter of high praise about the greatness and saintliness of Viitamoha'nanda who attended that program.

Margii K wrote: "This year, Ac Viitamoha'nanda dada attended for the first time. He is a very noble WT." And then that margii K went on to tell all kinds of glorious tales about Vitmoha'nanda.

In reply, brother Narayan Pandaji, the BP of Vishakapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), wrote the following:

"After 1993, Viitamoha'nanda was one of the chief captains of the special squad of Sarva'tma'nanda in eliminating the WTs / Grhii ma'rgiis who were coming against their group and protesting injustices. The same person along with Raviisha'nanda had come to take A'c. Maniis'a'nanda Avt. from Visakhapatnam at th end of October 1995 to Tiljala for eliminating him forever. Their plan was to remove Maniis'a'nanda's avadhuta dress, put him in plain clothes, and forcibly take him to Tiljala. Their plan was not to be. Ba'ba' saved Maniis'ananda Dada; so Viitamoha'nanda & Raviisha'nanda returned to Kolkata without Maniis'ananda and without his dress. I can't bear the word "noble" used by you for such a hypocrite sanya'sii [like Viitamoha'nanda]."


                                  DARK SCENES OF HISTORY: PART 1

We must all realise that in the course of history - even recent history - there are many  dark scenes that people often deny. The above encounter really happened and the proof is that those days people did not speak up due to the reign of terror. No one dared speak openly about injustices and dogmas within the organisation. To do so was to purchase a ticket to be black-balled and get ousted. One would be threatened, expelled, beaten physically, tortured and finally eliminated - i.e. attacked and killed. This is not hearsay. That was the way things were working those days. Top Dadas would target anyone who questioned their modus operendi.

Innocent margiis who spoke up would face torture, attack, humiliation, punishment and even killing. This is rta; these are factual events; that is what was going on. That is why no one would dare open their mouth. Those few margiis who were writing about these injustices were terrorised. One should not fall into denial and forget this critical history, otherwise the same thing will be repeated in the future. 

Those who came in AM yesterday may be surprised by hearing this; but those senior margiis and those active in the 1990's know well what horror was going on. Those who came after 2000, or those who were just plain blind all along, they may not know this aspect of history mentioned above.


                                  DARK SCENES OF HISTORY: PART 2

And indeed, not just in AM but each and every country, society, organisation etc carries a history of ghastly events. Eventually society changes, but some do not like to believe that those dark events actually took place on their soil. For instance, today some people cannot believe that members of the upper brahmin caste would put molten lead in the ears of women and harijains who heard the vedas. Yet Baba clearly tells us that this was going on.

Here the point is that even though some deny those dark events, we should not disregard those claims. Our history is full of shady scenes and that part of history must not be denied or suppressed.

From 1990 to '97, so long as all those groupists were together, they were terrorising margiis and wts who raised their voice against those injustices. It is only due to the sacrifice of those courageous margiis who wrote back then, that we now have freedom of expression in AM today. Otherwise people could not write about those so-called great Dadas in centre and their black deeds.


                                                   RESOLUTION

One should not forget this history. What Pandaji is writing about Viitamoha'nanda is an eye-witness account. Dada Viitamoha'nanda and Dada Raviisha'nanda were both criminals and reached Vishakatpatnam in October 1995 with the sole intention of eliminating Ac Maniis'a'nanda Avt. That is what Pandaji is writing.

If you want to know more about this, please communicate with Narayan Panda of Vishakapatnam. He too faced terrible backlash from those groupist as he was punished and victimised in all sorts of ways for opposing their wrongdoing and misdeeds.

The duty of every margii is to become educated about our entire AM history, whether it be glorious or not. Denial is nothing but a sign of cowardliness.

Baba Nam Kevalam


                                    PRABHAT SAMGIITA


"Saba'r saunge tumi a'cho, tumi a'cho, Prabhu tumi a'cho..." (PS 1111)

Purport:

   O' Lord, by Your grace You are with all; O' Prabhu You are
ever-present, You know not any barriers of relativity. You always remain
with everyone. Baba, by showering Your infinite love & compassion, You have
graciously captivated and attracted my mind. Baba You are ever present--
ever present.
  Baba, in the fast, ferocious winds of the cyclone, and in the deadly
grip of the cobra, at the time of death when the god of death comes near,
or when in the jaws of enemy, in all these terrifying circumstances You
shower Your sweet grace by smiling and dancing. Baba, even in the fire of
the unbearable inferno, You shower Your causeless grace and You turn
everything into the cool balm of sandalwood. Baba, You are ever-gracious.
  Baba, You are present eternally. Even before anything was existed and
before there was even the hint of creation, You were present then also.
Because You are the Creator. Baba, You are the origin; You are omnipresent.
Even when there was no existence of seconds, minutes, hours, days, dates,
months, or years, and there was no way to count the time, that time also
You were there. Baba in that moment You were alone. There was no divine
play of hope and hopelessness between the Lord and His devotees; just You
were all alone. Baba, today You are ever-present along with Your creation.
And You are vibrating in Your liila'rasa, dancing with divine ecstasy in
the bond of love, showering Your grace to all the jiivas, and attracting
everyone close to you. Baba You are ever-present, omnipotent. Baba, Your
liila is unfathomable.
   Baba, You are the beginning and You are the only desideratum, the Goal...

                  Who is Real Human Being
 
Baba says, "Parama Purusa will be pleased when you serve His creation-- not
only human beings, but also plants, animals, and the rest of creation. That
is bhu'ta yajina, pite yajina, and nr yajina are to be performed. Those who
have this feeling are human beings in the real sense of the term." (AV-3,
p.58)

Note: Usually so-called advanced people do most things solely for their own
self-gratification and personal entertainment etc. Sometimes it may look
like they are doing social service work, but it is not social service in
the true sense. Because they are doing that "service" only to enhance their
own prestige and to garner praise from all around. And proof is that they
themselves brag about the little things that they did. So what they are
doing is just business, not service. If in their various duties and works
anyone does not feel that they are truly serving the progeny of Parama
Purusa, then we cannot call such people proper human beings.

"New" Definition of Divine Love

Namaskar,
One time on my holidays I started reading one Dada's book with interest,
thinking that I will find some inspiring Baba stories. But instead I
came across one "special" interpretation of "divine" love. Here is the
story of that occasion.


                          WHAT IS IN THE BOOK

Specifically, in the book there is a story of one disciple named Khushru
who was doing idol worship of his dogmatic Muslim guru Nezamudin Aoulia.

And this book - by one of our own Dadas - puts for the notion that this type
of dogmatic belief is divine love and that is highest devotion. Because this
poem itself is used as an example in the chapter titled, "Divine Love..."

See here the dogmatic Muslim poem which appears in the chapter titled,
"Divine Love..." of respected Dada's book:

"I am a non-believer, lost in love
I am intoxicated from head to foot
With the love of my master,
Nezamudin Aoulia
I don't have anything to do with Islam.
Every vein of my body is intoxicated
With divine love for God
Therefore I do not need the sacred thread either
Worldly people call me an idolater
What reply I can give? I have only this to say,
'Yes, yes I am an idolater'
What do these worldly people
Know of my idolatry" (p. 86)

So what is been written above is just a collection of misguided
ideas - not a poem exemplifying divine love.

Firstly, the dogmatic disciple is himself explaining, "With the
love of my Master, Nezamudin Aoulia, ... every vein of my body is
intoxicated."

Hence the misguided disciple Khushru has wrongly taken his "master
guru" to be the embodiment of the divine.

Then the dogmatic Muslim poet who is disciple of his own dogmatic guru Aoulia,
further writes: "Worldly people call me as idolater...Yes, yes I am an
idolater."

So in the above lines, he gives credence to idolatry.

In a nutshell, these are but a few of the critical examples of misguided
devotional expression put forth in this sequence. And more about this
is written below.


             ONLY BRAHMA IS THE GURU

Before commenting further on the above Muslim poem, here we should all
remember Baba's divine teaching that-- Brahma alone is Guru and none other,
no one else.

That is why Baba says in Ananda Sutram:

     3-9 'Brahmaeva gururekha na'parah'
     Only Brahma is the Guru, no one else

And in another devotional discourse Baba says:

"Nobody else is the guru. Ta'raka Brahma is the only Guru." (Ananda
vacanamrtam, part 2, p.4)

Plus in Caryacarya II, Baba guides us:

"The one formless, beginningless and infinite Parama Brahma (Supreme
Consciousness) is the only entity to be attained by living beings-That
alone is Jagat Guru (the Supreme preceptor), That alone has revealed
Brahmavidya' (intuitional science) to us through the medium of the name and
form of Anandamurtiji. Unit beings must be made to appreciate Its majesty".
(Carayacarya. part II, p.1)

So in all these above teachings in clear-cut unambiguous language Baba is
directing us that only that Cosmic Entity can be Guru not x, y, z, a, b, c, & d
etc.


                  WRONG CLAIM IN THE BOOK

But in Dada's book, Baba's above teachings are not represented.
Instead the notion is given that Nezamudin Aoulia is the master guru.

So that is one falsehood or dogma. If that appeared in some non-margii
book we can ignore it, but when one of our esteemed senior acaryas puts
such a thing in print, then that demands our critical attention.

Let's continue on in our analysis.

By seeing those above quotations about this Muslim poem from the book,
any Margii can clearly understand that the way in which the dogmatic
disciple Khushru is worshiping his so-called guru Nezamudin Aoulia is
just a gross dogma and it has nothing to do with divine love.

Because, Nezamudin Aoulia was not divine. So how you can say that loving
Nezamudin Aoulia is divine love? Maybe we can call it attachment, or blind
dogma, or as you like you can name. But surely it cannot be divine love
because there is not an iota of divinity present there. We all know that Muslim
dogma and idol worship have nothing to do with divinity.

Baba says, "Those who in the name of the beginningless, endless, formless Brahma
worship idols, are indulging in deliberate slander. You must not give indulgence
to this type of Mahapápa (great sin)." (Caryacarya, part 2, Sadhana, point #18)

Baba says, "As, in principle, you do not support the philosophy of those who,
in the name of worship of God, indulge in idolatry." (Caryacarya, part 2, Society
point #35)

There is no need to give any long explanation here. Baba's teachings are
crystal clear and all Ananda Margiis understand the grand difference between
the dharma sadhana on Brahma and the ritualistic worship of Nezamudin Aoulia.


              BY EXAMPLE IT IS EVEN MORE CLEAR

For example, by showing one dirty crow, you cannot claim that this is a
pristine  swan--the essence of purity. The idea is that you cannot say it
is one beautiful divine entity when reality is it is one crude entity.

Or, by showing the dirty sewage water you cannot claim that this is fresh,
clean, mountain spring water.

Similarly, Divine love is far, far higher than these pseudogurus' dogmatic
beliefs. One is complete dark; another is effulgent.

It is a peculiar affair that our Dada seems to have so much affinity with
Islam? I don't understand why such a misguided approach was taken here,
because every conscious person on this globe understands that the
problematic Islam religion is full of dogma.

Indeed, persons from all corners of the globe, various types of race,
nationality, country and language, all came to AM to became one with the
Supreme Entity. But Islam / Muslim people have traditionally kept
themselves at a far distance from AM. They like to live in the dark.


              JUST A CASE OF SEVERE MISUNDERSTANDING

It is just like how as illiterate village man was not aware about the tomato
fruit. But he was quite aware about the meat. Because in his Kali temple,
goats were sacrificed. So when he heard that a tomato is red, then he
mentally calculated that " a tomato is nothing but red meat". Because in his
knowledge, the only red edible thing he knows is meat. So
he ended up with final conclusion that meat and tomatoes are the same thing,
just two names of the same thing. In other words, the new name of meat, is tomato.

Excuse me but same way, Dada's book could not conceive the idea about
the divine love. And instead it propagates about some dogmatic faith where
crude disciples are involved in various types of rituals with full
attention. And then the book concludes by saying that it is divine love.
But those who are rational-minded margiis, they understand that this type of
preaching is completely dogmatic.

Indeed no margii can appreciate that worshiping one Muslim guru Nezamudin
Aoulia, is divine love. But this is the claim made in this book by one Dada.

Unfortunately this is not the only Dadas' book which falls into such problem.
Many Dadas books are like this which are full of dogma.

Please write your own experience about any Dadas' book which is written as
a Baba's story and instead is spreading dogma. By this way we will be aware
and keep distance. And not only that, Dadaji's reputation can be saved as he
can go back and edit his publication. That way in the future people will not
form the wrong opinion about Dada.


                               BABA'S BLESSING

Overall in my life I have experienced that Baba's books are the only treasure
and they alone are worthwhile to read.

Baba says, "The books in Ananda Marga philosophy are all absolute knowledge.
The proper mark of identity of absolute knowledge is that it must be universal,
rational and psychological." (Prout Nutshell, pt 18, Prápta Vákya and Ápta Vákya)

Note 1:              WHICH DADA AND WHICH BOOK

The book referred to in the above letter is "Glimpses of Mystery" by Dada
Bhaskarananda ji. It was that book in the chapter entitled "Divine Love" that
the dogmatic poem was used - as if that exemplified divine love.

All in all it is unfortunate that this was written in the book as I personally
do not believe that this reflects that totality of Dadaji's thinking on
Ananda Marga.

Best will be if the book is corrected or taken out of circulation. That will be
the best thing for Dadaji's career and for readers as well. I personally feel
Dada Bhaskarananda has many wonderful contributions to make and he should not
be defined on this book alone.

The whole idea is that when any Dada or margii writes books, then those
publications are successful when they reflect Baba's divine teachings,
otherwise we run into misconceptions as happened above.


                          PRABHAT SAMGIITA

"Tumi sudha'taraunge khelicho raunge saba'r saunge niyato..." (PS 700)

Purport:

  Baba, You have been playing Your divine game since eternity. It is
filled with the vibration of colour and nectar. You are playing with one
and all. You never get tired; You never stop; You go on working day and
night. Your liila is eternal. 
   Even when there was no creation, no planets, stars or galaxies, and also
there was no existence of the vast sky, that time there was nothing. In
that great void since eternity You were ever-present, remaining alone. Even
before and prior to the beginning of the creation You were there, emanating
with Your divine vibration. 
   Baba Your liila cannot be expressed in words and language. Since
eternity You have been present and You will remain forever. You are the
Nucleus of this whole cosmic cycle...

                 They are not Asset but Liability

Baba says, "Now it is the duty of all living beings, not only of human beings, to
accelerate the speed of movement, accelerate the natural flow of life the
natural flow is unto the Cosmic hub, unto the Parama Purusa. And this
process of acceleration is the spiritual march, is the spiritual practice.
You'll see many people in this world who are bachelor but they are neither
monks nor they have got the sacrificing spirit to serve the society. Such
people are actually, they are liabilities, not assets to the society."

Extreme "Sadavrata" in USA

Recently an event took place in our Marga that causes us to stop and think about the way some in AM are doing "service". Read about this below event and see what you think.

                 
                                           WHAT TRANSPIRED

On December 4th, it was reported that one Dada in California organised a food distribution program in the end of November during the "Thanksgiving" holiday in the USA.

Note: During Thanksgiving, many Americans sit down and eat turkey, i.e. the name of one big, wild bird that is similar in size and look to the turkey vulture. A turkey is two or three times the size of a chicken and can weigh up to 14kg (30lbs). And these wild birds are eaten during the Thanksgiving holiday in the USA. That is the dogmatic tradition. As Ananda Margiis we categorically reject this tradition of eating meat and slaughtering animals.

Anyway, in doing his food distribution, this Dadaji got 7 Turkeys (i.e. big, dead, feathered birds). That means Dadaji collected 98kg (215.6 lbs) from the market and donated that meat on the occasion of Thanksgiving.

So we should all think how appropriate this is. Should one serve tamasik slaughtered birds, i.e. turkeys, to those in need. Is this the way we do service?


                                             SIMILAR FUTURE EVENTS

Collecting and distributing 98kg / 215lbs of turkey meat by one Dada for food distribution is extreme. Some say Dadaji has these future plans as well:

1. Distribute violent video games on Christmas to poor kids struggling in school.
2. Donate guns and ammunition to poor hunters;
3. Distribute cigarettes to poor & distressed tobacco addicts;
4. Distribute heroin to poor & distressed drug addicts;
5. Give arms to poor & distressed criminals / terrorists;
6. Distribute poison to the elderly for their assisted suicide;
7. Serve alcohol to poor people on New Year's Eve & other festival days;
8. Distribute machine guns to thugs and gang members;
9. Give high-fat sweets filled with hydogentated oil to poor & distressed heart patients;
10. Give foods loaded with sugar to poor diabetics;
11. Distribute sharp blades to poor & distressed pickpockets or robbers.

Note 1:                            GOOD SPIRIT IS NOT ENOUGH

Here the point is that doing something with a good heart or with a good spirit is not enough. The overall effect of the action or service also counts.

With full sincerity if you offer poison to someone then they will still be harmed.

Those who do not have any idea of bhagavad dharma may say that Dadaji donated all those things with a good mind-set and we should not chase him. But one should know that doing sinful things with a good heart will not make that action virtuous.

Prakrti does not overlook such wrongs but rather punishes those going against bhagvad dharma. Here we should not only think by the angle of a greedy human; as neo-humanists we should think by the angle of those birds as well. Then it will not take time to understand this entire issue.

Dada should have given things for the people's weflare. That is the effect of AM service. He should have only given plant and grain-based foods, i.e. sentient foods. Because our approach is never to give away harmful or tamasik foods in the name of service. Not only that, birds have their own existential value, they are not to be slaughtered for human consumption.

But in Dadaji's case he gave something that is harmful - harmful both to them and the bird. So Dadaji's dealing caused the death of so many birds and he has to face the consequences. Such type of activity is sinful - not service.

All around the world there are margiis surrounded by so many meat-eaters, but we do not therefore sacrifice animals and birds and feed meat to others. No true Ananda Margii does like this.

Many Wts Confused Baba's Working Style

Prabhat Samgiita #324

PS intro: This below Prabhat Samgiita, song #324, is a neo-humanistic song given by Baba on 10 March 1983. Thereafter Baba expressed this same theme in His RU address and DMC discourse of 28 and 29 May, respectively. In both those discourses He has given the same type of idea but in greater detail. However, as the DMC speech has still not been translated into English, a portion of Baba's RU speech is cited below, after the purport of the song. In that RU address, Baba is specifically telling that everything is the expression of Parama Purusa: He is expressing Himself throughout this manifested universe. That is the central idea of His RU discourse and Prabhat Samgiita #324 is based on this same concept.

"Moder dhara' ru'pe peyeche toma'r ru'per sa'je..." (PS 324)

Purport:

O' Lord, this world has become beautiful because of Your infinite charm. That is why I behold You everywhere in all Your creations. When I look at any expression then I see that You are there. You are expressing Yourself in that form. O' Parama Purusa, You are expressing Your grandeur in the form of all these created entities - animate and inanimate. You Yourself are One but Your expressions are many. You express Yourself in innumerable shapes and forms. You are hiding within Your creation.

O' Divine Entity, You are present everywhere - in all the flows. Nothing is outside Your mental arena; everything is within the purview of Your mind. That is why nothing is ever lost. I am in Your mind and I do according to Your desires. This entire creation is in Your mind and I am one part of that. I am working according to Your exact wish. Because this entire creation is Your thought projection.

O' Supreme One, O' Baba, You are present in each and every thought. Whatever human beings think is known to You since You are the Witnessing Entity of that very thought process. Baba, You are very vast: Everything is in Your mind. Baba, You are very small: You are present in everyone's thoughts. Baba, You are smaller than the smallest and bigger than the biggest. Baba, even by mistake I do not think that besides You anything else exists. You are everything.

Baba, by Your grace I always think that You are the quintessence...


Note 1: Here is a portion of Baba's RU address of 28 May 1983 wherein He is expressing this same type of idea as has been expressed in the above song.

"Neohumanism includes within its scope not only human beings and animate creatures, such as plants and animals, but all inanimate entities as well, for the scope of Neohumanism extends down to the smallest particles of sub-atomic matter... Why should the love and affection of developed human minds be restricted to human beings only? Why should it not include all living beings, including plant life? This is the new explanation of humanism - neohumanism - for within neohumanism the entire animate world is included...And that golden day is sure to come when that perfect stage of structure, that is, unit existence in the intra-atomic world, will be reached, when human intuition will realize that the essence in the sub-atomic world is pure Consciousness." (Neo-Humanism in a Nutshell - 1)

Note 2: Materialists think that everything comes from matter while Baba's Ananda Marga philosophy states that everything comes from Brahma. This then is the fundamental difference between the static world view of materialism and our spiritual outlook. Needless to say, our spiritual perspective changes the whole view of this universe as well as our relation with it. Materialists think that the world is for their self-satisfaction only whereas in Ananda Marga we think that we have come to this world to serve others since all are the expression of Parama Purusa.

BABA'S WORKING STYLE:

SOME STILL CONFUSED

Part 1

Namaskar,
As we all now know, from the very outset, Baba had a grand plan for the humanity. And He presented it step by step in a very smooth and practical manner - over the course of time.

On day 1 in 1955, He did not call everyone together for a seminar and tell them to write down a list of His each and every plan for the entire humanity. Nor did He do so in 1970 or 1978.

For example, He did not give Prabhat Samgiita, or Gurukul or neo-humanism in those early days. If He had done so, people would not have been ready. However, that does not mean that Baba did not have the idea or plan to put forth those projects - everything was in His cosmic mind - but people were not ready for those teachings.

At that time, no one would have been able to learn that way - nor would they have remembered because of the great extent of His teachings. Already Parama Purusa Baba was presenting so many new programs. And to remember and learn anything new and revolutionary, human beings must engage in that enterprise and repeat it again and again - practically with their own hands. Then that experience gives a deep impression in the mind. That way the mind gets saturated with that idea.

Hence, Baba took a divine approach, which we now may call His working or teaching style in the pre-1990 period. As we all saw, those days - step by step - Baba would present a new plan and program.

EVERYTHING DONE IN PHASES TO TEACH US

That means in one work phase, Baba might emphasize the need for a school - i.e. that each village must have a primary school. To teach this point, all workers and margiis got involved in securing funds to start a school. There was huge momentum in that moment to focus on the establishment of Ananda Marga primary schools. That was the main program Baba would ask about in reporting.

In turn, some units created comparatively successful schools while many did not - but everyone learned that a primary school was needed in order to propagate the ideas of Ananda Marga. That teaching everyone got. In each and every reporting session, Baba would ask, praise, scold, & guide about this point of creating schools until He was satisfied that everyone understood that a school was needed in every small or big town and village throughout the entire globe. By that way, from their very childhood, children will learn Ananda Marga ideals.

In some places, expensive buildings were purchased for schools but only got used a few times, or maybe not at all. The main thing was that everyone got the psychic understanding about the need for a school. That was Baba's aim all along.

HOW TRANSFERS WERE DONE

When this program was built up and some of the schools were going strong, Baba might transfer the lead Dada from that project and post a fresh new Dada from Training Center to that school who had little skill or language knowledge of that area. The school would inevitably suffer and ultimately close, but that new Dada got the needed training and the prior Dada was freed up to learn a new aspect of Baba's vast program like Prout or dharma pracara or VSS work. That was the way things went.

Baba told Wts to create Lfts who can run the school and inform margiis that they should oversee the operations of the school. Then the school would be sustainable. But in many cases, margiis may not have been active or were already too busy and there were no LFTs, in which case a very reputable Ananda Marga school eventually closed.

In such a situation some naive margiis started thinking to request Baba not to transfer the Wt of that unit in hopes of saving the school. But Baba did not listen to such pleas. And other workers tried to convince margiis about this in their own way.

HOW DADAS JUSTIFIED BABA'S WORKING STYLE

After a Dada was transferred from a particular unit and the projects and programs in that area were disrupted and disturbed, then local margiis would ask their SS Dada, "Why is Baba doing like this?"

Some Wts had no clue how to respond. So they came up with the bogus answer that Baba is like the Tibetan Guru Marpa and we should think of ourselves as Milarepa. This especially happened in NY sector when in one era all were moving with the Milarepa story in one hand. But that was an outrageous response and it was a terrible blunder to talk like this. See note 1.

The proper answer would have been, "I don't know." That would have been better; but, unfortunately, that was not done. In turn, margiis got more confused. And sadly still that confusion remains in many cases.

BABA'S SPECIAL COSMIC PLAN

Actually, it would have been impractical to keep one committed Dada assigned to a single school for years and years. Baba was putting forth His new and newer plan for the humanity and training wts.

Plus when workers were transferred to new posts and jobs, they developed greater experience and learned new languages, psychologies, and problem solving skills etc. All along Baba was creating new and newer programs in further succession. If those Dadas had been kept in those old programs then who would have been available to learn the new programs.

Note 1: MISUNDERSTANDING OF SOME DADAS:

JUST LIKE THE STORY OF MILAREPA

They were telling that Baba is like the Tibetan Buddhist guru Marpa who was giving the order to his disciple(s) to make and break buildings - make and break, and make and break.

In legend, it is well-documented that Marpa was a Buddhist guru in Tibet and before giving any spiritual training to his perspective disciples he would allot difficult tasks. They were forced to meaninglessly and uselessly construct buildings through years and years of bone breaking labor. These buildings were made by individual muscle power alone. And as soon as they were constructed then Marpa would order his followers to dismantle it stone by stone. This was not some social service project for the welfare of humanity. This was just the order of one lunatic.

So it is unfortunate that some confused Wts propagated and equated Baba in this way. It is so disgraceful. First thing is that in Ananda Marga, initiation is accessible to all - bar none. There are no stipulations. Those interested will get diiksa. In stark contrast, the pseudo-guru Marpa harassed his new recruits like Milarepa for decades and decades and never gave them any true training or guidance. How can one sane person link such dealings with Baba. It is unfortunate that sill some are believing this myth. The only redeeming aspect is that such misunderstanding is primarily contained to NY sector.

Note 2: START PRIMARY SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

Here below Baba reveals His strategy to start primary schools throughout the world.

(Note: Baba is adamantly against the build-up of any high school until we have our Ananda Marga primary schools in each and every village of this earth. On this very point, Baba has given the logic and reasoning. By Ananda Marga primary schools, Ananda Marga bhagavad dharma will established little by little. I don't know anyone who does not understand this point - i.e. all understand.)

“We must start primary schools throughout the entire world to create a spiritual urge amongst the little pupils. I am not in favour of starting colleges; I am in favour of starting primary schools. In the entire world we have got one degree college at Ananda Nagar and thousands of kindergarten schools. That is why it is desirable in the first phase to start many primary schools instead of colleges. Merely opening high schools and colleges without a proper system of education will not serve the purpose. Rather, thousands of kindergarten and primary schools must be started with this new system of education, to create a spiritual urge amongst children throughout the entire world.” (Discourses on Neohumanist Education: Prama-4)

BABA'S WORKING STYLE:

SOME STILL CONFUSED

PART 2

This is the second part of the ongoing series about Baba's working style. The first letter examined how Sadguru Baba introduced His various plans and program in a phase-wise approach. By this method, He practically demonstrated the wide array of projects that must be properly implemented. Thus, He posted and reposted Wts to best teach them about the various types of works that needed to be done. More about this is discussed below as well as how Baba mapped out an entire blueprint for serving humanity.

TWO IMPORTANT POINTS

Baba's phase-wise working style aimed to achieve two distinct goals. First, the already existing programs which He gave to serve society for thousands of years should continue running operated by Lfts and margiis. Second, those new programs, which were also for the humanity, had to be started by Wts.

WHY THE NEED FOR NEW PROGRAMS

Imagine if Baba did not give new programs. Then Ananda Marga would not have been complete, and after '90, margiis would never have thought that such programs should be done. For example, in various religions, social service programs are not as vast and comprehensive as those in Ananda Marga. Our programs serve each and every arena of individual and collective life of the entire society.

For instance, the Hindu religion does not have any social service programs (see note 1). And Christianity does not have a logical spiritual philosophy let alone a socio-economic plan. And Buddhists do not have any real approach for social service programs (see note 2. But Ananda Marga has all that and so much more.

Furthermore, if Baba kept one Wt as a teacher for decades and decades at one school then who would have learned the new programs He was putting forth. If the school could not be maintained by margiis and Lfts, then Baba would lovingly scold everyone for the closure o)f the school - but He would not stop His divine plan of presenting dynamic new programs. His aim was to give a blueprint for what to do and how to proceed.

When Baba got a report that a school did close, then He lovingly scolded everyone from top to bottom. He told Wts that it is the duty of Lfts to run the school and that Wts should ensure that the school was operating well. Whole-timers were to oversee those Lfts and get needed work done by margiis. That was the system. This was all part of Baba's blueprint for serving humanity.

MORE ABOUT THE NEED FOR TRANSFERS

One thing to understand is that those days Wts were getting transferred frequently because the number of Wts was not very high. We did not have a lot of workers and Baba wanted to unveils an increasing number of programs to wts and margiis. So when margiis and wts had learned that primary schools are an important service project, then Baba added that a school must have a children's home also. And if some unit had many children in their home then Baba might post a Wt for the home as well. That was the home superintendent post. And when the home started running properly and was respected, after some time the Wt got transferred and it was the duty of the Lfts and margiis to run that home. But when this did not happen, that children's home would also collapse. This happened year after year. Schools and childrens' homes closed and opened while new programs were always getting introduced. And certainly some of those schools and projects of old are still running to this very day. But the main thing is that Baba was presenting us with His blueprint for serving humanity.

Plus, more areas had to be covered around the globe and Wts were needed to go to other districts, regions and countries where pracara was newly started. And Baba also created so many new organisations - such as Prout, PBI (Proutist Block of India), VSS, SDM, and countless more - and He needed workers to staff those organisations.

By this way, people knew that Baba made all those organisations, whereas if He had not posted workers to those organisations, we would not know that such organisations existed or were needed. We would not know that we were to manage those organisations in the due course. So Baba did all this to make a crystal-clear blueprint for serving humanity.

BABA'S GRAND BLUEPRINT

So Baba was creating a blueprint of future organisational activities. It is just like if you want to build a big mansion, then you may or may not have money, but you must have building plans and / or a blueprint.

All along it was quite obvious that margiis and lfts were needed to help with all new programs. So they were assigned to many projects but it was not always possible for them to properly attend to them all.

On the top, Baba wanted to have personal communication with each and every margii and wt that is why He would call them in reporting sessions and give His divine blessing. By having His darshan everyone become stronger devotionally. So each month, time passed in this way, by His grace.

In other words, Baba had so many different programs to show us. That is why, ultimately in a short span, Baba would add a new project. Baba never stopped any project but told that it was the duty of Wts, Lfts and margiis to manage old as well new works. It was His grace - His liila.

ANALOGY OF TECHNICAL COLLEGE:

MAKING AND BREAKING

Think of it this way. Just as a technical institute has a workshop so their students learn can and practice what to do by making and breaking various projects, a similar method was going on in Ananda Marga before 1990.

In the case of trainees in the technical college, they are under the tutelage of their teachers. By making and breaking, they gain the requisite skills and understanding for how to work on their own. And finally when their training is complete and they have earned their degree, they are ready to work professionally in a factory etc. Before that, they were just trainees - just making and breaking for learning purposes. So there is a distinct difference between their training time in the workshop and the professional work that occurs in the factory.

Before 1990 in Ananda Marga, the situation was akin to a workshop where huge training was going on. People were making and breaking schools and various other works. This was the time of their apprenticeship. By this way, they were being taught so they could carry out Guru's plans and programs in the future. The main thing was that Baba was giving a blueprint and creating a workshop environment to prepare everyone for their future works and assignments.

The phase before 1990 phase was for learning - i.e. making and breaking - and it was not meant to go on forever. But unfortunately many could not understand. Now, this is becoming more clear to everyone.

Note 1: WORLD IS ILLUSION - NO NEED TO SERVE

Everyone knows that in Shrii Shankaracarya's non-dualistic philosophy there is only Brahma - nothing else. There is no importance of the external world; world is seen as an illusion. So there is no need of social service when the world itself is an illusion. That was his teaching. But nowadays, the Hindus are copying Christianity and they have begun doing some social service. But that social service was not born out of any Hindu doctrine.

Note 2: BUDDHA DID NOT GIVE A SOCIAL CODE

Lord Buddha did not give any social scripture - rather, his nihilism philosophy neglected the world. Thus Buddhism is devoid of any social code. So those disciples of Buddhism just continued those same social trends that they were doing earlier in their Hindu heritage.
