== THE CORONATION CEREMONY ==

Recently, there has been some talk as well as a 'proposal' about the process and procedure for electing and placing a new Purodha Pramukha at the helm, when the needed time arises. How far each and every step of the plan is functional or not, everyone should study and decide. However, in the end, the plan concludes with one final directive of world-wide celebration about the seeming 'coronation of the new PP'.
Yet who can forget what type of coronation happened in the past, i.e. when the present PP was placed on the chair back in 1990. And we all know where that has led us. So we must not forget what happened in the past when deciding how to bring on the new PP.
For those who need a refresher, let's take a look back.
A LOOK BACK TO '90 AND THE CORONATION
Within a couple dozen hours, ie just two days after October 26, 1990, already the then GS Sarvatmananda put the wheels in fast motion to bring on the new PP, as a replacement of Baba. And what a coronation was made.
In that aftermath of Guru's physical leaving, when most margiis and acaryas alike were still numb, dazed and upset-- when their feelings were still raw, Sarvatmananda and his crew of top Dadas swiftly moved ahead with their agenda about how to capture and rule the organisation using their new tool, i.e. PP Dada. Their whole aim was to make that new PP into a replacement for Guru.
And here is the story how they did it.
So today, when someone mentions that there should be pomp & show & celebration for the appointment of the new PP, then we must not forget what took place in the past & how far it was appropriate or not.
A LOOK BACK TO '90 AND THE CORONATION (Part 2)
Back in 1990, Sarvatmananda & Co made big plans.
First they detailed an elaborate and exquisite coronation ceremony-- huge money was spent. A 20-ton truck carrying only malas, i.e. flower garlands, pulled up to the Tiljala gates. That's right a 20-ton truck carrying tens of thousands of garlands. As marigolds were in season they were mostly marigold malas.
And side by side a team of 30 hired professional decorators from Kolkata went to work on dressing up the Tiljala compound in the most stately and honorary way imaginable. Not a single detail was missed, neither inside nor out, not a mala was out of place. This was all done in celebration of the new PP.
Plus special chefs were hired, large cook pots were carried in, a massive feast was planned, new carpets were rolled out, festive lights were hung all around all around the Tiljala compound. Not a rupee was spared in making this a grand event-- the coronation of Baba's replacement. This was the way they presented the making of the new PP. They made it into a full-blown drama, as if PP was like Guru.
So see the contrast: Guru had just left physically and in that void, a great coronation ceremony was being made as if we were getting a new Guru. That was the awkward, inappropriate, and celebratory nature of the event.
A LOOK BACK TO '90 AND THE CORONATION (Part 3)
Even then that was not all. They erected a dais where Baba's photo was placed and on the stage, directly next to dais, and only a few inches lower, was a decorated, royal seat where PP Dada was to sit. And at the time of the induction or coronation, all the Purodhas sat up on the on the stage at the feet of PP Dada.
Basically the drama was played that all the reverence and respect that one had for Baba should be throughly transferred over to PP. That was the way it was designed. After all, Sarvatmananda was thinking that the more power the new PP had, then the more power he (Sarvatmananda) would have. Because he knew well that PP was a total buffoon, just a clown who could be easily manipulated. That was why PP was hand-picked by Sarvatmananda.
And the full glory of the coronation was aimed specifically at this transfer of power: From Guru to PP, and indirectly to Sarvatmananda.
Some general Dadas & margiis who were present were highly offended by what was taking place, as if this was the appropriate time to hold a great gala in AM and if this was the way to bring on a new PP. But they knew they had to keep quiet-- or else. Because Sarvatmananda had full power and a strict agenda in mind.
MAKING PP INTO GURU
And indeed, Sarvatmananda's plan did not stop there. Once the elaborate coronation ceremony was over, then Baba's each and every plan and program was placed into the new PP's pocket.
Personal Contact...Field Walk...Reporting... Special Quarters...PA...Accepting Salute to Divine Father...Full VSS entourage...Driver escort...Scolding...PS Songs...Announcement of Arrival...and so much more.
And if anyone so much as whispered anything about PP, then harsh punishment was given and charge-sheets were drawn up.
Plus PP was taken away from the margii public and kept inside as if no one could gain access except with special permission, as if PP was too busy governing and directing the whole Cosmic Liila.
And margiis were prompted to ask PP for advice, guidance, and his divine word when they were granted access to him.
In essence, if someone compared a film between Baba and PP, there would be no difference in the way they were presented and treated etc. The only difference was the face-- beyond that everything was the same. PP would be Guru. That was the planning of that coronation.
PP would even sit right by Baba's photo and remain there when margiis would come up and do sastaunga pranam, as if he was accepting their salutation and showering grace.
All the facilities and ways of Guru were transferred over to PP, as if he was the new Baba. That was the celebratory nature of PP Dada's coronation. I do not think anyone can forget this.
And still to this very day this is going on. Rudrananda has adopted all of it-- for his own gain etc.
AND IT ALL BACKFIRED
However in the end, we see what has happened. Here we are 18 years later, and our AMPS is in utter shambles and ruins; and PP is still sitting on the chair. It is not his fault per se. After all he is just one lame duck. At the same time it cannot be ignored that all the groupism, all the dogma, all the destruction of margii rights, all the injustices occurred right underneath the nose of PP.
So, from top to bottom, the whole demise of our Marga has been the result.
Of course, we will build our Marga back into a shining pillar of dharma, but it will not be due to the grace of PP. I think we have all learned our lesson about that one.
Perhaps the most ironic thing of all, some may call it bitter justice, is that PP was whisked away from Sarvatmananda. That is, Sarvatmananda lost the very polished tool which he himself had invented. And now B group is sitting on the outside due to PP's order, and partly because B group wanted to break away.
CORONATION CEREMONY REVISITED
So that is the story of the coronation and placement of PP onto the post. There are many more details-- surely you all have your memories and experiences. The above is a mere taste or remembrance about what transpired due to that majestic, regal, and royal coronation ceremony.
Thus today, when Sri Mangal Birhari's plan & proposal is to celebrate the coming of the next PP with full vigor, and pomp and show, in all corners of the earth, then we all have to stop and think.
Is this really the spirit of the post? Is PP really the next Guru, or even symbolic of one?
I think we all now know the answer to that.
BABA'S BLESSING
By Baba's grace we have come into the Marga where only Brahma is the Guru-- none else. Due to His grace everything happens. And whoever sits in the chair of PP is merely carrying out a social role. That is not the say that the PP post is totally useless and unimportant. It has its relative value and significance, but not in spiritual realm as the person sitting on that chair has nothing to do with being Guru, nor receiving the reverence thereof. Thus, full-blown celebrations around the globe over the coronation of the next PP are not our way. If someone would modestly & quietly accept the post and humbly vow to serve Guru & humanity, that would be quite sufficient. By Baba's grace that is how it will transpire when the time comes. We should all try for this. Because in AM, only Brahma is the Guru, none else.
Baba says, "The one formless, beginningless and infinite Parama Brahma (Supreme Consciousness) is the only entity to be attained by living beings – That alone is Jagat Guru (the Supreme preceptor), That alone has revealed Brahmavidya' (intuitional science) to us through the medium of the name and form of Anandamu'rtijii. Unit beings must be made to appreciate Its majesty." (CC-2)

Baba says, "Whenever there is a conflict between the brain and the heart, intelligent people should respond to the call of the heart. The books in A'nanda Ma'rga philosophy are all absolute knowledge. The proper mark of identity of absolute knowledge is that it must be universal, rational and psychological. Certain instances of absolute knowledge are as follows-- the goal of human life is the attainment of Brahma; human beings are the progeny of Parama Purus'a...by dint of sa'dhana' or spiritual practices human beings gradually become divine." Purport:
Baba, You have come and by Your divine advent You are showering
effulgence, exuding nectar, and wiping away all darkness. Baba, You have
come-- making the flowers blossom & graciously spreading happiness and
bliss to one and all. Baba, by Your august arrival everyone's hopes and
longings have been fulfilled.
Baba, living beings were awakened by the deep yearning and pain of
longing in their heart. And with this feeling, in the anticipation & hope
of Your coming, they were awake, watching for Your arrival-- constantly
looking towards Your path. Baba, this pain and longing of devotees
resonated in Your heart and You could no longer remain distant. Baba, You
have come and You are graciously pouring the basket of love-- satisfying
everyone's heart. The sleeping humanity has gotten new life by Your grace.
Baba-- that river which dried up and evaporated, and that song which was
lost in the oblivion-- the current of that very river and the tune of those
songs You have graciously brought along with You.*
Baba due to Your august advent You have inundated each and every heart
with the nectar of devotion. This is Your causeless grace...
* The inner idea is that when Parama Purusa comes and He saturates the
heart with deep devotion, then all those feelings of love and which had
dried up start to blossom. In the above song, the river signifies the flow
of devotion and the song and melody refers to that subtler expression of
devotional feeling.
== BABA: 'I SPEAK FOR ALL' ==

As we shudder or even mockingly marvel at the way the current groupist
leaders unabashedly ignore Baba's teachings and instead chase after their
own personal agendas, one can only wonder how these were the very people
who surrounded Baba physically for years and years. They heard all those
dharmic teachings yet nothing went inside-- or so it seems.
Here below is the explanation how Baba's talks of dharma and inspiration
are addressed towards those who understand inside their heart-- and not
necessarily towards those who were physically present those days.
ALL BABA'S TEACHINGS ARE APTA VAKYA
There are two types of knowledge. One is transitory in nature; that is
called pra'pta va'kya. And that is always changing according to time,
space, and person. Today that type of knowledge is correct, and tomorrow it
may not be.
And another variety of knowledge is absolute knowledge. That is a'pta
va'kya; a'pta va'kya is eternal; unchangeable.
Baba says, "For a bhakta, only a'pta va'kya has value. What comes from
Parama Purusa is a'pta va'kya....As devotees, you should follow only a'pta
va'kya." (AV-2, P.7)
Baba says, "A'pta va'kya" or "absolute knowledge". Absolute knowledge is
the direct message from God...The books in A'nanda Ma'rga philosophy are
all absolute knowledge." (PNS-18, p.10)
So we all know that Baba's teaching is a'pta va'kya. It is eternal and
ever-true. With the change of time, space, and person, it does not change.
It is permanent. All the discourses which Baba has given, these are for
eternal teaching.
BABA IS SPEAKING TO ALL
But some people get easily confused and misled. In the wrong way they start
thinking that Baba speaks only to the limited audience seated before Him
during His discourse. And that the value of the discourse is limited to
those in the audience. And that it is beneficial for them alone. This way
of thinking has brought some serious dogma also.
Thinking that Baba is only speaking for those present, due to this faulty
approach, many discourses in 1978 just after the jail period could not get
recorded. When Baba scolded and became furious, and He Himself revealed the
truth. Baba graciously revealed, "I'm not speaking for the few those who
are sitting next to me. I speak for all." The sense was, that these things
are not limited to time, space, and person. These discourses are beyond the
three factors. They are for all, up to eternity.
And at that very time during the scolding in 1978, Baba charge-sheeted the
concerning in-charges by scolding, "Why the discourses did not get
recorded?..."
After that, everyone became more serious to record each and every
discourse. This above incident happened just after the jail period, in
August 1978.
As another example, all are aware that prior to 1970, mostly the DMC
discourses were getting recorded. But general darshans, not. And this was
due to the dogma that the darshans were only meant for those attending
Baba's discourse.
BABA NOT JUST TALKING TO THOSE PHYSICALLY PRESENT
The conclusive idea is, that many times the audience gets confused. And
they think that Baba is talking to them alone. Just as in the example of
the following discourse from 1979. When Baba gave this discourse, then
those present were thinking that they are not only great, but greatest.
Because they are going to solve the problems of the society. They are the
torchbearers. And they will bring a golden era on this earth. So forth and
so on. Everyone was charged, thinking about their greatness. So here below
is the discourse which they heard from Baba on that day.
Baba says, "I am sure that you boys and you girls must be optimists; and it
is your duty to save humanity. And I hope you will be able to save
humanity, because, just like me, you are also optimistic. You should know
that great, or good, people are few in number, they are not many...So it is
your duty to save humanity. And those who are unable to shoulder their own
bags and baggages -- their responsibilities are to be shouldered by you.
You should remember that the life of a spiritual aspirant is a mission.
One's entire life is a mission, one's entire existence is a mission. And
your mission is -- what? To save humanity from this crisis. I hope you will
be successful. And I not only hope, I am sure that you will be successful."
(AV-34, p.77)
So listening this, attendees were thinking that they are the torchbearers
who will lead the society forward from darkness to light. But
unfortunately, some of them after some time, got frustrated and threw away
their dress. And started leading negative life.
VANGUARDS ARE THOSE WHO FOLLOW BABA
And still today some of those who attended that discourse, are thinking
that they are torchbearers irrespective of their personal conduct. But
rational analysis tells that those whose conduct is good, following dharmic
guideline, adherent to 16 points and other various conduct rules, they are
the vanguards of society. Whether they were present in that Frankfurt
airport or not, that is immaterial. We should not forget that Baba's
teaching is divine, eternal, a'pta va'kya. Baba speaks for all, beyond the
limit of time, space, and person. And the real torchbearers are those who
follow these guidelines. Whether they have personally attended the
discourse, or not.

Note 1: BABA'S TEACHINGS ARE ETERNAL
MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT ANANDA VANII
There are some who dogmatically think that Baba's discourses are teachings
for that very day when it was delivered, and to that very audience who was
present that time. In other words, they think in a quite limited way. And
the outcome has come as this "Ananda Vanii dogma". The believers of this
dogma feel that Ananda Vaniis are for that very day on which they were
given. And that now those Ananda Vaniis are useless. They cannot be used as
Ananda Vaniis to treat as a special message. That's why those in power are
creating fake Ananda Vaniis twice a year. This all illustrates how dogmatic
people don't like to believe that Baba's teaching is a'pta va'kya, eternal.
Now let us go to our main point.
Note 2: NOT CAREFUL ABOUT RECORDING BABA'S DISCOURSES
The first DMC happened in Jamalpur in 1955. And the Subhasita Samgraha
discourse is available. But where are the general darshan discourses from
that time? It is obvious, they are not available. They could not get
recorded in any media. We lost them.
All the DMCs in the early years before '66, were like that. And after that,
such a minimal number of discourses are available in the printed form, we
can see. They are very few in number. And surely they did not all get
recorded.
And why go far? 1969-70 was the year where Baba has given so many
demonstrations in Ranchi. And every day He has to explain all those things
in hours lengthy discourses. But nothing got recorded. Dada Vijayanandji
was noting down a few lines related with each day. Only those things got
printed in one of the Ananda Vacanamrtam books. And those notes are only
one or two paragraphs of one particular entire day's darshans. So by seeing
the size of the paragraph or discourse, one can see that this is just 5% of
the real discourse. And that's also not original, but just notes. Why did
this thing happen? Because those days, people were not careful to record
Baba's discourses. Many were thinking that Baba speaks for that very
audience which is sitting next to Him.
Note 3: DEMONSTRATIONS IN ANANDA MARGA:
BABA IS DOING EVERYTHING, NOT THE SADHAKA
Now it is so ridiculous, that in those samadhi demonstrations of '69-70, in
such an odd way it has been written, "In Ranchi jagrti on that day, one
devotee got samadhi". Reading this, which reader is going to understand
that Baba is giving demonstration? Rather, people will get confused that
one devotee got samadhi out of the blue, by his own effort. But that is far
away from the truth. The truth is that Baba graced, and the result was
samadhi. But it is not mentioned in the discourse. That is unfortunate, and
it is a black mark in our scripture.
Please read AM philosophy part 5, pages range 323-334.
As an example, see below this quoted section from the chapter, "Bhava
Samadhi".
There it is printed:
"On May 10th, 1969, at Ranchi jagrti, a sadhaka experienced bha'va
sama'dhi. Sitting in dhya'na'sana he began to practice dhya'na on
Mula'dha'ra cakra. As soon as he connected his mind with the Cosmic Mind he
felt the sweet waves of cosmic bliss. Then he took his mind to deeper
realms, practicing dhya'na in svadhista'na and man'ipura cakras. At this
time he directed all his psychic energies to Parama Purus'a...." (p.328
APH-5)
By reading this description it looks as though the sadhaka is doing all
these things at his own will and on his own. There is no hint by this
description, that this entire event is a demonstration given by Baba. And
that it is only by Baba's grace on this sadhaka, that the sadhaka began to
experience these things. So in true sense the manner of writing this event
is ridiculous and misleading.
But why did all these things happen? Because those who are responsible,
they thought in their dogmatic way that Baba's discourse of that very day
was for those persons only there, in that audience. We should go now to
our main topic.
Note 4: BABA'S DEEPLY MOVING DISCOURSE
Here below is the entire discourse available in AV-34, which Baba has given
in Frankfurt Airport on the 19th of September, 1979. It gives deep
inspiration.
Baba says, "Some peoople say that in the past there have been so many
crises in human society. Crisis is quite natural for something moving.
Wherever there is movement, there is struggle -- struggle against the
inertia of the earth. In the past, there have been crises in the course of
movement, crises in different branches of civilization, crises in the realm
of education, and so on. But nowadays, the entire human society is facing
the crisis of civilization as a whole, and particularly a crisis in the
field of existence. Human society is now to decide whether to live or to
die. If this mud-slinging and intolerance are encouraged, humanity has no
future -- the future is dark, the future is sealed forever. But you know, I
am not a pessimist. I am always an optimist. And I want all my sons and
daughters to be optimists. And I want them to struggle against this death
signal of humanity, and come out successful."
"And I am sure that you boys and you girls must be optimists; and it is
your duty to save humanity. And I hope you will be able to save humanity,
because, just like me, you are also optimistic. You should know that great,
or good, people are few in number, they are not many. They do not come
within the scope of millions or billions. They are always few in number.
And these few, they are the torchbearers of human society, they are the
pioneers, they are the vanguards of human society. So it is your duty to
save humanity. And those who are unable to shoulder their own bags and
baggages -- their responsibilities are to be shouldered by you. You should
remember that the life of a spiritual aspirant is a mission. One's entire
life is a mission, one's entire existence is a mission. And your mission
is-- what? To save humanity from this crisis. I hope you will be
successful. And I not only hope, I am sure that you will be successful."

Marry or Not Marry
Baba says, "In AM every individual has complete freedom in matters of
marriage... those who are engaged in the fulfillment of an ideal...or those
who have to spend the greater part of their day in some mental occupation
should not marry, because they will not find it possible to fulfill their
family commitments properly. The marriage of such people is harmful to the
society in many cases." (GHC, '91 Edn, p.19)
Note: In our Marga there is a dogma that either one should become a wt or
get married. Yet in the practical sense everyone knows that just wearing
the saffron dress does not mean dedication. There are many wts who are
exclusively "dedicated" only for their own stomach-- or for power, post,
and their groupist agenda. The number of wts who are really dedicated to
the ideology is quite low. But in true sense those few are the proper wts.
In contrast, on other side there are many margiis who are completely
focused on ideology and dedicated to our holy AM adarsha. That is why after
getting married they are unable to properly look after their personal
family responsibilities. In result their children end up not liking or
even blaming Ananda Marga. About such cases Baba has given the clear
mandate that it would have been best if such ideologically-minded margiis
would have remained single, and not married.

Baba, drowsiness falls on my eyes at the time of darkness and I lose the
path-- surrounded only by dogma. And when I cannot see my Goal properly,
when I forget You, then please wake me and bring me on the proper path. Oh
Baba, oh my lord, please wake me with the call of Your divine flute; please
remove my slumber. I do not have any other divine Entity upon whom I have
any hope. You are my God of gods. Please remove all the Cimmerian darkness
which surrounds me. By Your grace shatter my bondage of attraction with
these worldly things. Since then You are making me listen to the song of
liberation. Baba, when I feel drowsy and remain lethargic on the forward
path, then please grace me and pull me back on right track...
== WHERE DO BABIES COME FROM ==

Around the globe there are various ways of explaining to small children,
"Where do babies come from". Because, after all, invariably the situation
arises in one way or another.
Most commonly, this scenario comes to the fore when a young child learns
from its mother that they will soon have a younger sibling etc. Naturally,
with all its curiosity, the child will then ask about the origin of this
forthcoming baby. In which case a reply often has to be given to the child,
in some way.
HOW IT SOMETIMES PLAYS OUT IN THE WEST
In the west, from Europe to the US, there are vying opinions about how and
when to educate children about sexuality: From childbirth to sexually
transmitted diseases. And amazingly enough, some start sex ed (sexual
education) right from the age of 3 or 4 by using picture books that show
the female body, uterus, fetus etc.
Thus when a young child innocently inquires about the origin of the baby,
then parents might sit down with picture books-- then and there.
This is one of the main ways that is happening in the west at present.
OURS ARE LOVING RELATIONSHIPS, NOT BIOLOGICAL
In AM, our outlook is a bit different. Ours is a more holistic vision that
encompasses the whole of human understanding.
In AM, we see one another as humans-- as fellow travelers on the path to
the Divine. So when we see our close people, we do not view them as merely
a collaboration or collection of different biological parts. Such as a
stomach full of food, a gallbladder, two kidneys, etc. Rather we see them
as a whole human personality-- someone whom we love and cherish.
Thus we consider the spiritual, psychological, & emotional bodies, and
indeed all aspects of the human personality.
Similarly, when introducing young kids to their newborn sibling-- rather
than explain the baby's birth from a strictly biological perspective-- we
can instead use a multi-dimensional approach that encompasses the various
aspects of human life-- of our human origin.
BABA'S DIVINE GUIDELINE
Here Baba guides us how the great sadhaka Mada'lasa' was guiding her young
son.
Although in the below passage Mada'lasa' is talking directly to her newborn
son, we can use this same type of approach when teaching a child about
where their younger, i.e. newborn, sibling has come from.
"Although you are but a child in a small human frame, you are the veritable
expression of the Supreme Consciousness. You are an ever-holy,
ever-enlightened entity. As long as you think that you are only a small
child, you are spiritually ignorant, but when you realise that you are a
part of that Supreme Entity, you become that Supreme Entity, you become
spotless (nirainjano'si)." (AV-7)
By this above approach, the child benefits in multiple ways. From an early
age the infant develops a link with the greater universe and understands
that there is a Supreme Being or God with whom they are connected, in a
loving way.
And of course the above is just an example from centuries and centuries
ago. So if there are some words or phrases one wishes to change then that
is certainly an acceptable thing to do.
Here the main part is incorporating a spiritual vision that recognises the
trifarious nature of the human personality. And this approach gets us away
from getting into the nuts and bolts of human anatomy and physiology and
sex ed etc. Those topics can come later on as our children grow older and
more mature.
IN OUR AM FAMILIES
So in our own households, we can employ variations of this same approach.
We can say this about each one of our children. As soon as we tell this to
our 3 year or 5 year old in order to explain how they now have a younger
sibling. Right away we can also tell that 3 or 5 year old that they are
also a child of this grand universe. That way there will not be any
jealously, complex, or difficulties etc.
SEX ED CAN WAIT TILL LATER
And at that same time we can move ahead in life-- knowing that the sex ed
can be delivered at a later date. Because there are innumerable times later
on in their early adolescence that children need to get the full scoop on
human health and sexuality. This everyone must learn once their glands
begin to develop. And parents should be one trusted avenue for their
children in this regard. And certainly they will learn what they will from
their peers and the school curriculum. But parents should have a distinct
role in this-- but that role need not start too early either.
In those early years before the onset of puberty, and especially when the
child is only a handful of years old, that is a sacred time to instill the
notion that every human being is a divine child of this grand universe.
This is also an important and significant concept for them to get. And
besides-- it is true.
ALL ARE CHILDREN OF THE SUPREME
Everyone thinks that, 'this body is mine, but more than that they do not
ask. Just they think that it is mine. But that 'mine' also belongs to
something. And here below Baba tells us where to whom that 'mine' belongs
to-- i.e from where it comes.
Baba says, "Everything has emerged from me, everything is being maintained
in me, and ultimately everything will dissolve in Me...the Cognitive Entity
has been recognized as the primordial cause of creation...the Supreme
Operative Principle, carries on Her creative flow according to the
expressed desire or expressed approval of Parama Purus'a. Hence Purus´a is
the prime cause of creation.
Mayyeva sakalam' ja´tam' Mayi sarvam' pratis't'hitam.
"Since everything in this universe is born out of Purus'a, there is nothing
beyond or outside Purus'a; hence Mayi sarvam´ pratis´t´hitam - "everything
is residing in Him." He is the base of everything; there is no way to go
beyond Him." (SS-11)
By this way, it becomes quite clear that we all stem from Him. He is our
Source; He is our Father. We are all children unto Him.
BABA'S BLESSING
By Baba's grace, part and parcel of everyone's early learning should
incorporate this idea that we all come from Him and that we will all return
to Him. This divine idea should neatly reside in everyone's consciousness--
from an early age. And later on when it is time for the specifics about the
birds and the bees, i.e. sex ed, then that should be told. First however,
one should enjoy the sweet blessings of Parama Purusa and understand that
we all come from Him and will return to His divine Lap. This should be one
of one's earliest memories.
Baba says, "Ultimately one will have to reach Him. There is no other way. "

Note 1: HOW MADA'LASA' WAS CARING FOR HER BABY
One day, Mada'lasa' was putting her fourth child, a three-month-old baby,
to sleep with the following lullaby:
Shu'ddho'si buddo'si nirainjano'si sam'sa'ra m'aya' parivarpito'si.
Sam'sa'ra svapnam' tyaja mohanidra'm' Mada'lasolla'pam uva'ca putram.
"Dear son, although you are but a child in a small human frame, you are the
veritable expression of the Supreme Consciousness. You are an ever-holy,
ever-enlightened entity. As long as you think that you are only a small
child, you are spiritually ignorant, but when you realise that you are a
part of that Supreme Entity, you become that Supreme Entity, you become
spotless (nirainjano'si)."
The mistakes that people make, the crimes and sins they commit, leave a
mark imprinted on their minds which remains as a sam'skara'. This spot or
mark is called ainjana in Sanskrit. Ainjana also means a kind of black mark
which is used to decorate the eye.
"My dear child, there is no black spot in your mind. You are spotless. You
are unassailed by any kind of sin."
Sam'sa'ra m'aya' parivarpito'si:
"You are beyond the spell of the illusory Ma'ya' of this mundane world. You
are the embodiment of the pure and unblemished self."
Sam'sa'ra svapnam' tyaja mohanidra'm:
"What is this world after all? Human beings think this world is real, but
to the Absolute Entity it is only a mere dream, having no real existence.
That is why I tell you to break the spell of illusion which makes you dream
about all the attachments of this world."
Mada'lasallopam uva'ca putram':
"This is how Mada'lasa' teaches her son." (AV-7)
Note 2: WHAT IS BEING SAID IN THE WEST
Sex ed is a hot topic nowadays and often the tendency is to tell more to
children at an earlier age. Here below are but a few examples how parents
struggle with using biology alone as a means to explain where babies come
from.
Here is what one mother told:
"My 5 year old daughter asked me where babies come from and I panicked. I
went into this long, nervous, diatribe about when a man and a woman love
each other, how babies are made, where the come out, etc. I was beet red
and my heart was pounding by the time I finished."
And another mother who is also a counselor advises in this way.
"If you have already told her that her mom is going to have a baby then it
is a natural question for her to ask. It is up to you to decide whether she
is old enough to cope with the answer without being frightened, if not,
just tell her firmly that you will tell her when she is older. If you do
decide she is ready, then explain it in simple terms, with a book to help
her understand in pictures what happens. Whatever you do, don't lie to her
or make up stories, children are not stupid! There are many books on the
market that you could find in your local library which explain the facts of
life to young children. Help her to understand by explaining it in terms of
where she came from, make sure she realises how much Mommy and Daddy loved
each other to want to make her in the first place and how much they love
her now. This way, she won't feel jealous or sidelined once the baby arrives."

Confusion about Microvita
Baba says, "Microvita are the initial stage of matter. Although they are
matter they are very, very subtle. All of a sudden microvita are transmuted
into matter and matter is transmuted into microvita. For investigating the
initial stage of matter, research is not possible in physical laboratories,
but it is possible in the human mind and human soul. Microvitum is closer
to the realm of ideas than matter...While atomic research can be done in
physical laboratories, microvita research can only be done in the human
mind and soul." (MVNS, 'Q & A on Microvita', #19)
Note: In His above teaching Baba is giving the hint that intense sadhana
should first be done and then one can realise & understand the practical
aspects and theoretical concepts of microvita. The key point being that
microvita are very subtle in nature and are "closer to the realm of ideas
than matter".
Nowadays, however, certain dry intellectuals are giving misguiding lectures
on microvita and confusing margiis. Such dry jinanis are telling that
microvita should first be discovered and researched on the physical plane--
with our crude eyes etc. The main source of controversy stems from the fact
that these jinanis themselves aren't clear about microvita, therefore they
are making others confused.
Once again then, we should hold firm to Baba's above reference that only by
doing maximum sadhana can one gain a proper understanding of microvita.

According to the basic necessity or protocol I did not have any of the
necessary arrangements, so I could not receive You properly. My
grief-stricken mind was full of longing for You, and my heavy heart was
saturated with the tears.
Baba, I have not done anything for You. In vain I was just revolving
around only mirages. With the new sun and strong call, by holding my hand
You showed me the direction-- You graced me by taking me onto the right path.
Baba, You have come into my heart; it is nothing but Your divine mercy &
grace...
== SMUDGE MARKS ON OUR AM BOOKS ==
Namaskar,
Our AM ideology is unique and contains all the answers to all the questions
in this universe-- both philosophical and factual. Naturally then it is of
utmost importance to publish Baba's divine discourses in a clear and
conclusive manner. This is absolutely necessary.
However, these days there is a glaring defect permeating throughout all our
AM books that is diluting Baba's discourses. A defect which is being
inserted by our very own AMPS publishers & editors. Specifically this
critical error concerns the use and translation of Sanskrit shlokas.
Given the gravity of the situation everyone should read the following and
write in with their opinion as well.
BABA'S STATED WAY OF USING SHLOKAS
Before jumping directly into what the editors have done, let us first
examine Baba's perspective. Because it is His opinion which is of Supreme
importance.
The key point of this entire issue then is to understand Baba's explicit
intention behind the use of shlokas in His discourses. And by Baba's grace
He has provided us with a crystal-clear explanation about this.
In His historic "Author's Note" to the Hindi edition of Subhasita Samgraha
part 2, Baba has issued a statement regarding His use of shlokas. The basic
idea of what Baba writes in His Author's Note is as follows.
'I (Baba) am not the interpreter of the Vedas, rather my purpose
in using any shloka is to explain and put forth Ananda Marga ideology.
The shlokas I have selected from the Vedas are used with this expressed
intention. Hence sometimes I expound upon a shloka far beyond than
what was the original meaning of the shloka; and other times I may
use or explain only one word of a shloka when the Vedas have given
a lengthy interpretation of that shloka. Because again My purpose
is to set down the tenets of AM ideology, not explain the Vedas.'
Thus in His special Author's note, Baba clearly states that in His
discourses His intention is not to explain or write a commentary of any
shloka per se; but rather, He is using those shlokas as a means to
illustrate His AM philosophy.
DEFECTIVE IDEAS OF THE VEDAS
By all this there are two basic points which are paramount:
(1) In His discourses, Baba is using the Sanskrit shlokas of the Vedas as a
springboard to explain His AM ideology.
(2) Many of the Vedic shlokas are full of wrong and dogmatic teachings
which Baba does not wish to include in His discourses. Sometimes He openly
corrects the Vedas and many, many times He just ignores the various
dogmatic interpretations of those Vedic sermons and instead explains about
the dharmic perspective of AM.
Unfortunately, a few jinanis on the editorial staff in our AM Publications
Office have their own way of doing things which goes against Baba's unique
and special use of shlokas. In that way a few jinani editors have grossly
polluted our AM books.
SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN HIS BOOKS
While the mistakes certain jinani editors have made is laced throughout
countless discourses, here following are some clear-cut examples for
everyone to review. These below editorial blunders are from the discourse
'Twice Born' printed in Ananda Vacanamrtam part 30.
In this important discourse Baba is carefully highlighting the importance
of AM diiksa-- the initiation into Ananda Marga.
Baba begins the discourse with this full shloka:
Janmana' ja'yate shu'drah sam'ska'ra't dvija ucyate;
Veda pa't'ha't bhavet viprah Brahma ja'na'ti bra'hman'ah.
Thereafter Baba puts forth His unique teaching that initiation into the
tantric cult of Ananda Marga is what makes one a human being. Baba explains
the second half of the first line of the above shloka in the following way.
Sam'ska'ra't dvija ucyate
"After one is initiated, one becomes dvija, human."
(AV-30, p.27)
So Baba's teaching itself is that AM initiation marks the beginning of
one's human existence. But in square brackets [] the editors made their own
silly insertion which goes completely against Baba's explicit teaching.
Because about that same part of that very shloka the editors explained it
in the Hindu dogmatic way by literally translating that shloka. Here is
what those jinani editors wrote in their silly little square brackets:
[...Going through a renewal ceremony, the person become a dvija...]
(editor's insertion, AV-30, p.25)
This is the gross error which those editors inserted into Baba's perfect
discourse.
So Baba has given this entire discourse to highlight the speciality of AM
initiation and to tell that it is AM diiksa which allows one to begin true
human life. Yet side by side our jinani editors inserted the misguided
interpretation that in order to become human one must undergo the dogmatic
Hindu renewal ceremony.
Thus Baba is trying to put forth the dharma of AM by highlighting the
importance of our AM diiksa but our own editors are polluting His
discourses with dogmatic Hindu teachings. This makes the entire discourse
appear confusing and even contradictory to readers.
MISTAKE COMMITTED THROUGHOUT THE DISCOURSE
Even worse is that in this very short 4 page discourse the editors make
this same type of mistake again and again-- thereby undermining Baba's
dharmic message throughout the printed discourse. This is their so-called
contribution.
That is to say, every time Baba mentions that part of the shloka in this
discourse then He gives the dharmic meaning. Each time Baba explains that
it is AM initiation which make one a human being. This is the teaching He
has given and that is one of the main guidelines of this entire discourse.
Yet side by side whenever Baba gives this special teaching then the editors
again insert their own words in square brackets [] which go 100% against
Baba's teaching. Follow this next sequence:
Here on page 26 of the discourse Baba again repeats that portion of the
shloka.
Sam'ska'ra't dvija ucyate
But look what the editors have done. Instead of just printing Baba dharmic
words which follow the shloka, those editors inserted the dogmatic literal
interpretation of that shloka. In their square brackets [], the editors wrote:
["going through a renewal, the person becomes dvija"]
Thus once again the editors spliced the discourse by adding the false idea
that it is the dogmatic Hindu ritualistic ceremony which makes one a human
being. This is their crude insertion.
When in that very place Baba Himself gives the real meaning:
Baba says, "After a few years, after five years, when one is initiated, one
becomes dvija." (AV-30, p.26)
So on the one side Baba is telling that by taking initiation, getting a
tantric Guru, and learning AM sadhana one becomes a human being. That is
the beautiful perspective of AM ideology and that is what Baba is
explaining throughout the discourse.
Yet, adjacent to that, the editors are adding their own comments in square
brackets [] stating that it is the Hindu ritualistic ceremony full of
dogmatic prayers etc that makes one a human being. Indeed it is in this
crude Hindu renewal ceremony that one first wears the dogmatic sacred
thread. That is the import of this Hindu renewal ceremony. And that
ritualistic affair is what our editors are highlighting. Thus in our own AM
scriptures our jinani editors are telling that wearing the sacred thread is
what makes someone a human being. This is the nonsense that is gong on in
our AM books.
Now see the ridiculous way that the editors printed this in our AM books.
First comes the part of the shloka, then in square brackets [] is the
editors dogmatic remarks, and then comes Baba's dharmic explanation.
"Sam'ska'ra't dvija ucyate ["going through a renewal, the person becomes
dvija"] and after a few years, after five years, when one is initiated,
one becomes dvija." (AV-30, p.26)
By reading the above version which is printed in our AM books, the whole
thing appears absolutely ridiculous. Because what the editors are writing
is completely contradictory to what Baba is telling. Yet those editors
printed their contradictory statement right before Baba's divine teaching.
This is the lunacy that is happening with our AM books. Baba has graciously
given the humanity something that is totally dharmic and our jinani editors
are inserting their own garbage in between Baba's statements. In that way
our AM books are getting ruined. And people new to Ananda Marga as well as
outside scholars will wonder why there is such confusion and hypocrisy in
our very own AM scriptures.
TENDENCY OF JINANI EDITORS
The next question of course is why is all this happening. Why are the
editors doing like this.
All that can be said is that jinanis like our AM editors are so full of
themselves and so proud of whatever little miniscule fact they have learned
that they cannot refrain from putting their fingerprints on each and every
page of Baba's books. Their dirty hands are everywhere.
It is just like how animals leave their footprints wherever they walk. Or
even more fittingly, goats and dogs must urinate and defecate wherever they
go. It is their chosen way to make their mark-- to claim their turf and
announce their arrival. Thus dogs and goats pass stool on each and every
patch of earth which they visit. This is their unseemly and smelly habit.
Likewise, our jinani editors have the dirty and foul tendency to leave
their garbage on each and every page of Baba's pristine discourses. By this
way those jinani editors can proudly announce that 'I was here', 'I was
here' etc. This is their inane and awful habit. In that case how are they
any different from those goats and dogs.
And that is why today, Baba's printed discourses are full of thousands of
useless and harmful editorial notes in square brackets [] which completely
undermine the dharmic message which He is giving. And this applies
especially to Baba's perfect use of those Sanskrit shlokas. Baba is using
that shloka to give the dharmic teaching of AM ideology but our jinani
editors are slipping in their own dogmatic interpretation-- each and every
time. This is the "great work" they are doing with Baba's books. They are
putting their dirty hands all over Baba's discourses and our AM books.
OUR AM IDEOLOGY IS COMPLETELY NEW
Once again we should remember that AM ideology is unique-- it is not just
the rehashing of old ideas.
Baba says, "Ananda Marga is not only new but something quite different from
the established ideas." (PNS-11, 'Ananda Marga: A Revolution')
Baba says, "Ananda Marga is a revolutionary concept of life altogether
different from any of the present or past ideas. It is a change which is
independent of the cyclic changes due to the passage of time. It does not
practise anything which is not new both in approach and practice." (PNS-11,
'Ananda Marga: A Revolution')
Thus Baba the Taraka Brahma has come onto this earth and given something
which the humanity has never seen before. His AM ideology is something
perfect and entirely different from the ideas of old like those outdated
Vedic shlokas etc.
BABA'S INTENTION BEHIND THE USE OF SHLOKAS-- REVISITED
That is why Baba guides us that when He uses those shlokas it is only as a
stepping stone to give the dharmic teachings of AM. Baba is not trying to
explain the dogmatic meaning given in the past about those shlokas. That is
not His concern in His AM books. Rather His sole intention is to put forth
the seamless ideas of Ananda Marga. And everyone reading Baba's books
should understand this very fact. And indeed everyone does-- except those
jinani editors.
That is why again and again those jinani editors are sticking in their
square brackets [] and pasting the literal dogmatic meaning of those
shlokas into Baba's dharmic discourses. This is the tragedy that is
happening on each and every page of our AM publications-- all of Baba's
discourses are getting stained in this way.
BABA'S WARNING: SCRIPTURES MUST BE FLAWLESS
In His below guideline Baba warns us that AM scriptures must remain perfect
and that those responsible for printing those discourses must carefully
guard over those discourses.
Baba says, "The scriptures containing spiritual injunctions must be totally
flawless. And the pioneering personality must be a strict and benevolent
guardian with unyielding conviction." (NSS p.200, Edn 1995)
Unfortunately, nowadays in our AMPS, the very people in charge of
publishing Baba's books, i.e. those jinani editors, are of a different
mold. Due to their defects and silly habits they are unable to live up to
Baba's stated standard. They are unable to guard over His discourses and
keep them flawless. Those jinani editors are unable to do this. Rather they
themselves are responsible for destroying our AM books.
Here again Baba warns us that there should not be any weak point or
"loophole" in our printed AM teachings.
Baba says, "There must be an excellent and all-embracing philosophy, in
which there should be no loophole in any sphere." (NSS, '95 Edn, p.196)
Unfortunately wherever Baba has made special use of those Sanskrit shlokas
etc, then those jinani editors have wrongly inserted contradictory
statements which undermine the value of our AM books. This is the horror
going on in our AM Publications department these days.
BABA'S BLESSING
By Baba's grace He has blessed us with all the teachings and guidelines to
create that brilliant human society. So we should keep them as is because
only the teachings of AM are the answer. This is His divine blessing.
Baba says, "A'nanda Ma'rga is that path of progress, and that is why
A'nanda Ma'rga is the only alternative for the preservation of human
existence and civilization." (Tattva Kaomudii-1, 'Q & A')

Note 1: SO MANY MORE INSTANCES
There are countless instances where our jinani style editors have inserted
wrong explanations of those Sanskrit sutras into our AM books. Indeed if
anybody looks they will see those square brackets [] in so many of our
books published since 1990.
For example in that very same discourse of AV-30, Baba has given the proper
definition of who is a vipra, but that too those jinani editors ruined.
Here is the original sholka:
Veda pa'r'ha't bhavet viprah
And here is Baba's perfect explanation:
Baba says, "After initiation, if one becomes an intellectual, one is to be
treated as a vipra. Veda pa'r'ha't bhavet viprah." (AV-30, p.27)
Thus Baba is telling that only after getting initiation can an intellectual
be a true vipra.
But now look what those jinani editors wrote in square brackets:
[...By studying the scriptures, a person becomes a vipra, an intellectual...]
So those editors are telling something completely different from Baba.
Because Baba is guiding us that to be a true vipra one must first be
initiated into AM sadhana. That is the main prerequisite for becoming a
vipra. In stark contrast, our confused editors have made their own silly
insertion that to become a vipra one only needs to study those dogmatic
Hindu scriptures etc. This is what they have printed in our AM books. So
see their dirty ways of dealing.
About this entire topic much more can be written and there are countless
examples of such mistakes. Suffice to say here that this misguided jinani
practice of inserting bracketed statements [] to "explain" the Sanskrit
shlokas should be terminated immediately. Those editors must stop what they
are doing and all past mistakes must be rectified.
Note 2: WHO IS RESPONSIBLE ETC
There are various group camps so there are any number of people who might
be behind this editorial problem that is ruining our AM discourses. Thus
who exactly pushed the start button and began this awful campaign of
inserting brackets [], it is difficult to say. But one thing is certainly
clear: Dada Acyuta'nanda's name is listed as the editor of so many of our
AM books-- including all these discourses and publications noted above, so
if Acyuta'nandaji did not personally commit these gross errors then he
surely might know who did. At least we can ask him and see what he says.

Health Guideline: Diet Related
Baba says, "For proper digestion, fill the stomach half-way with food, one
quarter with water, and leave one quarter full of air." (CC-3, 'Procedure
for Eating')
Note: Every conscious margii follows this above point but sometimes for
certain people it becomes difficult to follow. Especially at retreats or
during feasts this rule is not so strictly followed by some. Whereas in
everyday life when they are in their own home this is not a problem.
Anyhow, the above guideline given by Revered Baba is highly significant and
we should follow it.

either through kiirtan & chanting His name, singing bhajans, or by
raising the 'Jai' slogan etc. So when Parama Purusa has made His advent
on this earth or when He manifests Himself in the mind of devotees, then
naturally those devotees will call everyone close and tell others that
the magnificent Parama Purusa has come. Depending on their realisation,
some devotees feel that Parama Purusa has come physically onto to the
planet while other sadhakas or more oriented towards His coming in Guru
Cakra. If one only uses their external senses then they will not be
aware the existence of Parama Purusa in their mind. True realisation of
Parama Purusa comes in the realm of spirituality. This following song
expresses the idea that devotees should spread the glory of Parama
Purusa throughout each and every nook and corner of this earth.
"Shon'o go, shon'o go, shon'o go dhara'va'sii..." (PS 227)
Purport:
O' inhabitants of the earth, please listen, please listen, please listen
[1], the Aja'na' Pathik [2] has come. His eyes are full of boundless
love and He is graciously calling everyone to come close, near Him. That
Divine Entity has fathomless love, attraction, and charm. By His grace
He is guiding all regarding our physical, psychic, and spiritual
upliftment.
The Love-Personified Parama Purusa has come. He is moving exquisitely--
synchronized with the rhythm of dance & song. With His divine melody He
is attracting all with the bond of His spiritual love [3]. O' devotees,
behold, everyone look, Parama Purusa has come and He is expressing
Himself in such a charming and magnificent way.
The Ajana Pathik has made His grand arrival. The divine sound of His
omnkara is resonating in everyone's heart. With the magical display of
His divine effulgence He has taken His place & made His abode deep
inside everyone. With His boundless grace, He is revealing that, 'I have
brought a basketful of nectar to distribute to all My loving children'.
O' the Parama Purusa Himself has come. His every movement is very
graceful and He is showering His infinite love to all. This is His
ahetuki krpa'...
NOTES FOR PRABHAT SAMGIITA #227:
[1] It is the basic human psychology that when anyone experiences
anything great then they always like to share the beauty of their
experience with others. Similarly if they undergo any disappointment or
hardship, then that also they will tell that to others. But if life is
just moving along in a normal way, then most of the time they will not
say much. Thus when devotees are fully charged and enamoured by the
divine advent of Parama Purusa, then in that blissful mood those
devotees are surely going to call everyone to come close and experience
the darshan of Parama Purusa.
[2] Aja'na' Pathik= Aja'na' means 'unknown' and Pathik means 'divine
traveler'. This is the word by word, literal translation. But the inner
sense is that Parama Purusa is always moving throughout this vast cosmos
and by His special grace He is constantly present with everyone all the
time. He is in the Cosmic Nucleus yet at the same time through His ota
and prota yoga He is everywhere-- carefully watching & lovingly guiding
everyone. This unique aspect of His grand Personality is treated as
Aja'na' Pathik. Because He is constantly traveling yet present
everywhere. He is in the nucleus as well as throughout this entire
expressed universe.
As the Ajana Pathik, Parama Purusa Baba moves and moves and moves. Thus
in their devotional approach devotees feel that wherever they go then
the Divine Aja'na' Pathik will always be there to shower His blessing.
By His grace, devotees can always get His intimate company &
companionship. With this devotional link, by His grace sadhakas
understand that Parama Purusa is present everywhere, yet side by side He
travels on and on throughout this entire cosmos. Thus He is Aja'na' Pathik.
Overall the name Aja'na' Pathik has one special and unique meaning that
goes far beyond its literal translation. And in our hearts we A'nanda
Ma'rgiis know and feel that Baba is that Aja'na' Pathik. Indeed in His
discourses, in Dharma Samiiksa, and in reporting, in DMC, and in
numerous ways Baba has revealed this very fact that He is ever-present
and always along with us. Hence He is always moving and wherever we go
then He will also be there. Parama Purusa has infinite attributions and
one of them is this special quality where He is known as -- Aja'na' Pathik.
[3] Love: When reviewing Prabhat Samgiita, invariably the term 'love' is
used. And in this devotional setting, the English word 'love' means
'prema' in Sanskrit.
Baba says, "Regarding prema or selfless love, it is said:"
Samyaung masrn'ito sha'nto mamatva'tishaya'unkitah
Bha'va sa' eva sa'ndra'tma' budhaeh prema nigadyate
"The attitude which makes the mind smooth and placid, and radiant with
the deepest love for the Lord, is called 'bha'va'. Wise people call this
'prema' or 'divine love'."
"Prema is the attraction for Parama Purus'a overcoming the attraction
for all other finite objects. Those who are endowed with such divine
love are bound to receive the grace of Parama Purus'a -- they need not
worry about it." (SS-18)
Of course most margiis understand that the use of the word 'love' in
Prabhat Samgiita does not have anything to do with general worldly love.
As we know the word 'love' is commonly misused these days. In various
English speaking countries like the US etc, you may often hear people
say, 'I love eating candy', or 'I love going to the movies', or 'I love
fishing', or even 'I love to read the newspaper' etc. In such
circumstances instead of using the term 'like' they use 'love'. This has
become the custom. So in western / European countries this type of dogma
regarding the use of 'love' is present. And in various other countries &
languages their word for 'love' is used primarily to express crude
attraction in the general society. Indeed, 99.9% of the time it is
misused in this way. They wrongly use 'love' in crude romance films. And
in day to day life they often employ the term love when speaking about
their laokik family relations also.
The point being that there are a very limited number of terms to express
'love' in the English language. So the word 'love' gets used in various
ways-- usually in the mundane sphere. That is why this entire
explanation and clarification was needed.
== WHY I CANNOT CONCENTRATE IN SADHANA ==
Namaskar,
We all know that the main reason for our coming on this earth is to do
sadhana-- that is the essence of this human life.
Baba says, "Human life is for higher pursuits, for something subtle,
something higher, something more elevated...What is a person to do? A
person is to do only spiritual practice, only sa'dhana'." (AV-30)
That is why when I am unable to concentrate in sadhana then I become
extremely concerned and I wonder why my mind was unable to manage my
meditation today.
A VERY UNLIKELY BUT TRUE ANSWER
To find the answer to this problem of poor sadhana, which seemed to be
getting more and more prevalent, I looked under every rock and in every
nook and corner, but it was not at all apparent to me what was wrong
until one acarya said, 'Maybe unknowingly you are eating tamasik food--
perhaps that is the reason why on some days you are unable to
concentrate in sadhana.'
Initially when he said this I thought he was crazy because I thought, 'I
never eat any tamasik food.'
But then-- upon closer examination of Baba's teachings and my own diet--
the sad fact came to light that I was indeed eating tamasik food,
unknowingly so. I came to know how things that I was regularly eating
like strawberries, yogurt, tomato sauce, broccoli, potatoes, and other
seemingly sentient items were indeed tamasik.
So I write this letter to alert everyone about how certain tamasik foods
might unknowingly creep into your diet and, in result, disturb if not
ruin your sadhana.
BABA SAYS: 'BE CAUTIOUS IN SELECTING FOOD'
In one very special discourse, Baba warns us to be very careful about
the food we eat.
Baba says, "The nature of food and drink has its effect upon the cells,
and consequently also influences the human mind. Obviously each and
every sa'dhaka, or spiritual aspirant, should be very cautious in
selecting food. Suppose a person takes ta'masika, or static, food. The
result will be that after a certain period, static cells will grow and
exercise a static influence on the aspirant’s mind." (YP)
Of course we all think we are being cautious; none of us think that we
are eating tamasik food; we all know the rules etc; but in this modern
era we must be extra, extra cautious.
Because various capitalist food corporations do things which can fool
even the best of us. Just as I thought I was not ingesting any tamasik
food, only to find out that in fact I was. Similarly, this may be
happening to you as well, though I hope not.
But we should be sure, because as Baba describes above, it is this very
tamasik food which cripples our sadhana practice.
HOW I WAS EATING TAMASIK FOOD-- WITHOUT KNOWING IT
And actually here Baba points out how people have the tendency to eat
foods without being entirely sure of the nature of that food, i.e.
whether it is sattvika, rajasik, or tamasik.
Baba says, "Very often people eat food without knowing its intrinsic
qualities. For example, the milk of a cow which has just given birth. Or
white eggplant, khesa'rii pulse [horse gram], red puni [Basella rubra
Linn.], or mustard leaves, all of which often grew out of rotten
matter." (YP)
So all these things come into play when taking food and that is how I
got caught up eating tamasik food, which was adversely affecting my
sadhana. Consider this:
1. I was using all kinds of milk and dairy products only to find out
that capitalist corporations, and even many small to mid-size farms use
milk from cows which have recently given birth. And according to Baba
that makes the milk tamasik. Even some organic farms fall into this
negative category. So all the organic yogurt, milk, and cheese I was
purchasing turned out to be totally tamasik. Indeed, in this modern era
of agro-business, one can never be sure that any particular glass of
milk is not tamasik. Because they mix the milk of hundreds of animals
into huge vats. So chances are tamasik milk is laced throughout their
entire stock. Because to maximise their profit, they use the milk of all
their cows, even those which recently gave birth. So that is one way
that I was unknowingly eating tamasik food.
2. Another problem that got exposed is that I was buying various frozen
and canned fruits and vegetables. On these packages, the ingredients are
only listed 'broccoli', or 'peas', or 'blueberries', or 'pears' etc. And
I was opening and quickly devouring these items thinking that they were
sentient. But one day when I began examining these foods more carefully,
I found that 10% - 25% of the food in the package was rotten. That means
when I let the frozen food defrost or when I separated canned items, it
was clearly visible that much of the food was rotten. It was spoiled
food that I would never knowingly eat if I was preparing a fresh meal.
But due to lack of time, I was buying and quickly preparing these
packaged fruits and vegetables-- obliviously thinking that they were
totally fine. Then on closer examination I saw first-hand how all, not
some, but all the packages were littered with stale or rotten food. By
this way, many of the fruits and vegetables I was eating were actually
tamasik.
2b. As an addendum to the above, all the canned and frozen items are
meant to be used "as they are". So we pour them into our cook pots and
eat that food. But upon inspecting the bags, I also often found dirt,
bugs, and insects in those products. Yet another unsavory tamasik food
item that was slipping into my diet.
2c. Likewise, I used to purchase an organic eggplant (brinjal) sauce
only to find out that it was made out of a mixture of both purple and
white eggplants. And as we know, white brinjal is tamasik.
3. Even then, the problem was not limited to frozen and canned items
only-- on multiple occasions I bought bags of fresh potatoes only to
cook them and find out that they tasted just like onions. Obviously
those agro-businesses were intermixing their onion and potato crops. The
problem was often times, before I realised that this was an issue, I was
putting those potatoes directly into my curry dishes, in which case I
was not aware of the onion after-taste or smell of the potatoes. So this
tamasik item proved to be another drawback in my sadhana program.
4. One other issue was bottled products. I was buying 'all natural'
things like tomato sauce, hummus, and various organic salad dressings,
only to discover months later that one of the ingredient was 'spices'.
Upon calling the company I found out that 'spices' often means tamasik
items like onions and garlic etc.
5. It also dawned on me that all of the restaurants (i.e. hotels in
India) that I was frequenting were using the very same pots, frypans,
and utensils for cooking meat as they were for preparing vegetarian
dishes. So when I ate Chinese food, the Chow Mein Beef was often cooked
in the very same pan as my vegetable fried rice. Not to mention that
often the vegetable fried rice and the wonton soup often contain a broth
based in chicken stock. Of course, at least I was aware about this one
ahead of time as I had asked the waiter. But the point about mixing and
using frypans for meat and vegetable dishes was my undoing every time.
Any Italian restaurants lace garlic and onions in every dish, whether
they admit it openly or not. Here the point is not Chinese or Italian,
but rather all restaurants have cooking and food preparing practices
that contravene our rules of sentient food.
6. One other issue that used to catch me off guard was attending 'pot
luck' dinners or lunches. This would happen at work or even at community
vegetarian events. With the best of intentions, people would prepare
"sentient" food for me, only to later mention things like, 'how did you
like the scallions in the soup', or 'the cake I made contained only
organic eggs', or 'I know you don't eat red-meat so I used a fish-based
sauce on the steamed vegetables'.
7. Then when traveling by bus or airplane, I was eating salty snacks &
sweets that sometimes contained milk solids, whey, 'spices', and
gelatin, or other things that we now know are tamasik.
8. Or, even trickier, the snack item or company food may be
all-vegetarian on the ingredient list, but then in fine print it may
say, 'Made on machines or in factories used for processing eggs, dairy,
or fish ingredients etc'.
Thus it was by all the above ways that I was unknowingly ingesting
tamasik foods on a regular basis. I thought I was taking a 100% sattvik
diet, but little did I know what was really going on. I hope the same is
not happening with you. Because I found out how detrimental it has been
for my sadhana, as well as for my physical health.
IT WAS RUINING MY SADHANA
Here Baba issues His grave warning how eating foods "indiscriminately"
will lead to the degeneration of mind.
Baba says, "If cells are affected by food and water, and if the nature
of the cells affects the nature of the human mind, obviously human
beings should eat the correct diet, because food and mind are closely
related to each other. Any food item, whether good or bad, must not be
taken indiscriminately because it may lead to mental degeneration." (YP)
Of course we all try and be careful, and we believe we are careful, and
when preparing our own foods from scratch with no pre-made ingredients,
then everything is usually fine. But often when traveling, or when
attending staff meetings, or when we are in a rush and depending on
company-made foods, then that is when all the problems start to occur.
Crude things which we could never imagine eating get mixed into our
food, unknowingly so. So we have to be extremely alert in this
fast-paced modern era.
We must think twice before purchasing or ingesting any company food--
and best is not to purchase it at all.
After all, the food we eat affects all our cells-- hence the body mind
link. We should not let tamasik items cloud and poison our mental
sphere. Yet that is what happens most of the time when we eat
company-made foods or agro-industry foods.
This is a vast topic and there are many other points such as using beef
by products to grow tomatoes. So everyone should research more and share
their findings.
BABA'S BLESSING
By Baba's grace He has given us the recipe for a sentient way of living
so that we can grow in sadhana and reach our cherished goal. So we
should all be vigilant to prep and cook our own foods and only share
meals with other Ananda Margiis.
Baba says, "Human beings must select sa'ttvika, or sentient, or
ra'jasika, or mutative, food according to time, place and person. This
will lead to the birth of sentient cells, which in turn will produce a
love for spiritual practice and help in attaining psychic equilibrium
and equipoise, leading to immense spiritual elevation." (YP)

Namaskar,
We know that Baba's discourses must be printed properly. To achieve this
end, everyone must be pointedly aware about the latest strategy by
certain publications personnel.
Specifically, through seemingly benign examples, the Tiljala camp wants
to convince margiis that it is okay for them-- i.e. the Tiljala
publications team-- to deviate from Baba's spoken word.
In response, we should be extremely alert about the consequences and
ramifications. Because, in essence, Tiljala is asking for license to
reword Baba's discourses. That is the freedom that they want.
Yet we are all aware about what hell this B faction has done-- from 1990
up to this very moment-- to AM scripture and Baba's teachings.
The Tiljala machine deleted the paragraph about margii rights from AM
Revolution; they invented Fake Ananda Vaniis; they tore down BP rights
and authored the Fake BP Manual (1997); they were the first to use
expulsion as a weapon; they single-handedly destroyed the ACB; they
wrongly inserted 'translated from the original Bengali' in the title
page of every AM book. All these crimes and sins the Tiljala camp has
done. Has anyone forgotten this?
So now when they are requesting license-- i.e. asking for margii
permission & approval-- to deviate from Baba's spoken discourse when
printing AM books, then we must be 100% vigilant not to fall prey to
their plea, i.e. their trap.
WHAT B GROUP IS ASKING
In a few short sentences, here is what the B team is requesting.
They say that since the style of speaking varies from the styling of
writing, therefore they (Tiljala) should be able to "improve upon" the
style of Baba's spoken discourse when they are printing AM books.
And to demonstrate their point they give this very mild example:
Baba spoke: "So the love is -- here in case of Parama Purus'a and the --
and His progenitures, the love is mutual."
And then here is what they wrote in the book: "So in the case of Parama
Purus'a and His progeniture, the love is mutual."
By this extremely harmless example, then we all might think, 'Sure B
group, that sounds fine, go ahead and do what you need to do. We trust
you. Print the discourses according to the writing standard of the day'.
This is the very casual way we might respond.
Until, we remember who we are dealing with, and what we are dealing
with. The 'who' is B group which has committed countless atrocities and
crimes against the Marga; and the 'what' is Baba's divine and holy
discourses which are the panacea for the humanity.
Thus, we should be extremely careful and not get duped by their plea to
deviate from Baba's spoken words..
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN
Realistically speaking, oral expression is different from written
expression. That we all know. So when printing the books we should take
this into consideration. BUT, BUT, BUT...
Side by side, there MUST, MUST, MUST be an "as is" version of Baba's
spoken discourse for all Ananda Margiis to reference and refer to. It
could be as easy as an online file for everyone to access. But this B
group does not want to do-- they just want full license to change to
their heart's delight.
The fact remains that we need to be able to see and verify first-hand
what the changes are. Otherwise one change will happen with one
printing, and then another change will happen with another printing, and
slowly slowly the very essence of Baba's teachings will be lost.
Don't believe it? Well that is exactly what occurred with Lord Shiva's
teachings. Those priests made one change after another until Shiva's
original teachings were entirely gone. Only by Baba's divine grace--
because of His book 'Namah Shivaya Shantaya'-- do we now know what Lord
Shiva's teachings are. Prior to that, the ruling Hindu priests distorted
Shiva's teachings into a whole pile of empty rituals and harmful dogmas.
And B group is perfectly capable of doing the same type of mess. After
all, they invented dogmatic tiirthas; they conceived of the dogmatic
Mahaprayan program by declaring that 'Baba is gone'; and they have
ruined countless AM books and discourses. Indeed, they are the only
groupist faction to have manufactured so many dogmas. That is
Sarvatmananda's specialty: Creation of dogma.
So if anyone-- like the Tiljala team-- wants to publish Baba's
discourses using "a polished written form", then it is an absolute
necessity that an "as is", word-for-word version of Baba's transcribed
discourse also be made available for everyone to review. Then we can
ensure that the written version properly parallels Baba's original
spoken discourse.
Otherwise it will be too easy for groups like Tiljala publications to
divert on a totally different tangent. They've done it before and they
can and will certainly do it again-- if we are not careful.
TWO EXAMPLES FOR YOUR REVIEW
In case you are curious just to see how far the Tiljala camp might
deviate from Baba's original discourse, here are two clear-cut examples
for your review. This gives a small window of what they can do behind
closed doors or when given the license.
BABA ORIGINALLY SAID:
"[For the last one century they say, and] within the scope of humanity
or humanism, comes the entire human beings, entire human beings. But it
is not sufficient and this explanation or this interpretation, it cannot
quench the thirst of developing human psyche. Why the love and affection
of developed human beings, developed human mind, should remain
restricted within the jurisdiction of humans. Why it should not include
within its scope entire human beings, the entire world of animation,
including plant life. They are also living beings and come within the
scope of animation." (31 May 1983, Ananda Nagar)
THEY WROTE AND PRINTED:
"Neohumanism includes within its scope not only human beings and animate
creatures, such as plants and animals, but all inanimate entities as
well, for the scope of Neohumanism extends down to the smallest
particles of sub-atomic matter. What is Neohumanism? Neohumanism is
newly-explained humanism. “Humanism” and “humanity” have been very
popular words for the last century, but only human beings have come
within the scope of humanism and humanity. This explanation [of the
concept] is not sufficient – it cannot quench the thirst of the
developing human society. Why should the love and affection of developed
human minds be restricted to human beings only? Why should it not
include all living beings, including plant life? This is the new
explanation of humanism – Neohumanism – for within Neohumanism the
entire animate world is included." (NHNS-1)
By the above example it is quite clear that those publishers veered far
from Baba's original word. Quite far. It is so far that when listening
to the discourse one cannot even follow along in the book. Rather it
looks like those publishers are writing their own essay on the topic--
not printing Baba's original discourse. This is a perfect example why an
on-line, "as is" version of Baba's original discourse is a must. Without
that we have no way of knowing what they are doing. And in a few more
editions, such groupists will declare that 'expulsion is legal in Ananda
Marga' or some other type of dogmatic code. All done in the name of
"polishing" Baba's discourse.
Now here is another example of what Tiljala is capable of doing-- i.e.
how far they can deviate in word-- and ultimately spirit-- from Baba's
original teaching if given license.
BABA ORIGINALLY SAID:
"It is said that, eko varan'o bahudha' shakti yoga't. Bahudha' means,
'multifarious'. Bahudha' -“bahu” means, 'many'. Now, that singular
entity who is colorless, and who is above all fetters or pa'shas, He
creates so many entities, He is a singular entity but His creation is
not a singular one. There are so many expressions, so many vibrations,
so many colors and so many lives. And He is doing all these things with
the help of so many faculties of binding principles." (12 April 1979,
Kolkata)
THEY WROTE AND PRINTED:
"Eeko varan'o bahudha' shakti yoga'd -- bahudha' means that which is
divided into many or innumerable parts. That singular Entity does not
have any colour. He transcends all fetters and bondages. He is the
causal matrix of the manifold entities. He is the nucleus and very
source of the various expressions, vibrations, colours, and shades of
light. He has been creating everything through that power of His to
create multiplicity, or that propensity of His to create manifold
bondages, that is known as Pra'krta shakti or Pra'krta Ma'ya'." (AV-10,
p. 117, 2007 Edn)
So here again we see that the printed text swerves far from the words
and terminology which Baba Himself has employed.
Such publishers need to remember that the true aim is to print a refined
version of Baba's discourse, and not write their own essay on the topic
by bringing in so many auxiliary terms and including so many other
sentences and phrases.
Let us also remember that Ananda Vacanamrtam part 10 (AV-10) is one of
the Tiljala's camps cherished books which was printed just a few short
months ago in 2007. Yet in this very so-called gem of a publication,
their printed discourse deviates immensely from Baba's spoken word. It
was as if they felt the need to change EVERY word-- as if they could do
it better than Baba.
A BUNCH OF HELL RAISERS, NOT DO-GOODERS
MUST NOT GRANT THEM LICENSE
And again, when Sarvatmananda Himself deviously produced the Fake BP
Manual of 1997 which granted Centre the so-called right to eliminate
countless margiis from the BP voting process etc, then there is no
telling what hell he will do to Baba's discourses. After all, he was
also the one who snipped the paragraph about margii rights and removed
it from Baba's AM Revolution discourse.
It is not that suddenly Sarvatmananda turned over a new leaf or has
become pure as a baby. He is the same culprit who is unwilling to admit
any of his past sins and crimes in AM. Just he now is trying to portray
he and his Tiljala team as a bunch of saintly do-gooders, when in fact
their entire history shows themselves as being a bunch of hell-raisers.
Thus there is no way that we should grant B group license to deviate
from Baba's word.
CROCODILE WANTS TO EAT TROUSERS
The Tiljala camp's desire to be able to "polish" Baba's discourses is
just like one man-eating crocodile that only "wants to take a bite out
of your trousers". In the name of chewing on your trousers, that
man-eating crocodile will inevitably devour your whole body as well.
With his blood-thirsty ways he will chew on your every ounce of flesh
and bone to satiate his ravenous hunger.
Likewise, the Tiljala faction (i.e. B group) has shown an unending
desire to manipulate Baba's teachings for their own groupist control and
power. And now they may sweetly and gently plea, 'Oh, I only want to
smooth over Baba's spoken word', just like the crocodile innocently asks
if he can ' just take a bite out of your trousers', but in the end we
know what is going to happen. Just as the crocodile will devour you
completely, similarly B group will totally swallow Baba's dharmic
discourses and spit out a bunch of their own dogma onto the printed page.
This is the very bumpy & disastrous road our Marga will travel should we
grant B group license to change Baba's spoken word.
REMEMBER!! HERE IS THE ANSWER!!
The ultimate answer to the situation is that no matter what happens, an
"as is", word-for word, on-line version of the exact transcription of
Baba's discourse must be made available to all Ananda Margiis. Ok, we
want to print a polished book to show the public, but internally we must
be aware of each and every syllable that gets changed, lest we invite
disaster and destruction into the sanctity of Baba's teachings.
Because without an on-line, "as is" version to keep them honest, then
these B group monsters are liable to do anything & everything for their
own lust of power. This is not just a guess; by seeing their past
actions that is the reality. What hell they did to our Marga when they
were in power cannot ever be forgotten. Yet that is what B groups hopes
will happen. In that sense, they are just like the Nazis who simply deny
the genocide that took place in the WW II era and instead want to wipe
the Holocaust out of the history books forever. Similarly, B group never
asks for punishment for all the hell and dogmas they invented after 1990
when they were in power. They just want to wipe that away from the
history books and memory banks of Ananda Margiis, without ever
rectifying themselves. But we cannot forget.
Thus, now when they are not in power, and they try to present themselves
as a bunch of cream-puffs who merely want to change a word "here or
there". Then we must not get sucked into their fiendish trap.
And the ultimate answer is: PROVIDE AN "AS IS", WORD-FOR-WORD, ON-LINE
VERSION THAT IS AN ACTUAL AND PERFECT TRANSCRIPTION OF BABA'S SPOKEN
DISCOURSE.
Once this is done, then and only then we can agree to the "polishing" of
Baba's spoken word for the sake of creating a modern standard book.
Because then we can see first-hand if the publishers went overboard or not.
Remember also for years and years B group did not care an iota for the
integrity of AM books, only now they are under pressure because Ananda
Margiis around the globe are insisting and demanding that things be
proper. Without that pressure from Margiis, the Tiljala camp would
simply resort to their sloppy and dysfunctional ways.
Hence, pressure is needed and that pressure is an "on-line, as is"
version of the spoken discourse. I think by now everyone understands
that this is the only acceptable answer.
BABA'S BLESSING
By Baba's grace we must never forget His divine guideline.
Baba says, "The scriptures containing spiritual injunctions must be
totally flawless." (NSS, Disc 14)

Note 1: ACYUTANANDA: THE LITTLE PUPPY DOG
Acyutananda is B group's little puppy dog who they send out into the
world to deliver their message with regards to Publications work. The
Tiljala heads are a bunch wolves-- this we all know-- so in their
conniving ways they send their little puppy dog, i.e. Dada A, out into
the street to deliver their message, hoping that this way it will be
accepted by the people. Because it was only yesterday that Dada A posted
his plea (i.e. B group's plea) to get permission or license to change
Baba's spoken word. And as proof of his deceptive ways and malintention,
Dada A requested that his plea only be posted to the Spanish network and
not any other network. He reasoned that margiis in other parts of the
globe do not care about the printing of Baba's divine teachings. But is
that really so? Is it that the margiis of Delhi sector do not care about
Baba's books-- nor do the margiis of Berlin sector or Manila sector, or
any other sector. It seems that if Dada A's intention was pure and
honest then he would want margiis all over the globe to know of the
glorious way in which he & the B Brigade are going to print Baba's
books. But this he does not do. Rather, with strict wording he is
desperately indicating to people to only share his letter on the Spanish
net-- not any other. As if other margiis are negative; when in fact the
truth is that the only thing that is negative is his rotten plea to be
able to change Baba's original spoken word. So we should all beware of
Dada A's puppy dog manners and remember that there are a bunch of wolves
behind him pushing him out into the street to deal with margiis.
Here is Dada A's exact directive about not circulating his letter:
"I am sending this message only to the Spanish list, because that list
is concerned with Publications work. I am not sending this to any other

No doubt the Spanish speaking margiis are extremely sincere in wanting
Baba's discourses to be properly published, but does Dada A think that
margiis in all other sectors do not also have interest. Or what is the
reason for his secrecy. Better he should tell.
