== MAHAPRAYAN OF A DEVOTEE ==
Namaskar,
It is with a heavy heart that I convey the news to you that today, Sunday
17 Dec, at 2.30pm, our margii sister Somideviamma had her Mahaprayan. She
breathed her last breath in her residence at Siripuram nearby Andhra
University of Visakhapatnam.
In the wake of her Mahaprayan, she is survived by her only son, Visvanath,
daughter-in-law law, Rajyalaxmi, grandson, Bhuvanesh, & granddaughter,
Tis'ya'raks'ita'.
Didi Somideviamma was one of the most loving devotees of Ba'ba'. Many may
be aware that He graced her by staying in her house in 1979 for three days
during DMC in Visakhapatnam. That was one beautiful occasion.
In addition to being a great devotee, Somideviamma Didi was a lecturing
professor-- highly unusual for a sister of her day. In that sense, she was
a pioneer in two respects: As a devotee of the Lord and as a professional.
Didi Somideviamma used her skills to translate Ba'ba's discourses on water
conservation & other PROUT topics from English into Telugu. Plus Didiji
helped regularly with so many PU publications-- always translating them
into Telugu.
She was also a source of great inspiration to here family and those around
her. Her son got Vishvanathji married as per Revolutionary Marriage (RM)
with Rajyalaxmididi of Ernakulam. Today The whole family is dedicated for
Anandamarga ideology. So Didi Somideviamma's contribution to the Marga is
quite immeasurable.
Towards the last part of her life, prior to her Mahaprayan, she suffered
from acute asthma & she remained bedridden for two years. Rajyalaxmididi
served her & provided the best medical care. But in the end due to her old
age, Didi Somideviamma expired.
When the news of her mahaprayan'a spread, the local margiis rushed to her
residence. The dead body was kept on ice for her relatives & her near &
dear ones. Since her mahaprayan occurred on Sunday, margiis conducted
weekly Dharmacakra there. It was finally decided to dispose of the dead
body on 19th Dec at 8 am. The cremation will be done as per Caryacarya part-1.
The shraddha function will be observed as per Ba'ba's system on the day to
be fixed according to the decision of margiis & local DS.
Lastly, at this sorrowful occasion of her mahaprayan, we will request
Ba'ba' to accept her in His divine lap on this shraddha day after
performing Akhanda Kiirtana for 3 hours.
Namaskar,
Bhukti Pradhan, Vishakapatnam
*Mahaprayan: Many are aware that mahaprayan is the common term used in
India and especially in Bengal to describe the death of an honoured or even
ordinary person. In that way the newspapers of Bengal are regularly citing
the mahaprayan of various persons of society who died or passed away.
Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' is one
extraordinarily devotional term to be used in association with Parama
Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to
undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no devotees
ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna.
Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no
question of their mahaprayan.
And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be
clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the
Samsad Bengali-English dictionary on page 742. Checking there it will be
confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it used to
refer to the passing away of even common citizens.
