MAHAPRAYAN (Death) OF PP DADA

Date: Wed, 15 Oct 2008 9:49:26 (IST) From: Singh_Manindra Subject: Mahaprayan (Death) of PP Dada To: AM-GLOBAL Baba
== MAHAPRAYAN* OF PP DADA ==
Namaskar, It is with great sadness that we convey the news of the Mahaprayan* (death) of PP Dada. It was at 9am IST of 15th Oct 2008 that Revered Purodha Pramukha Dada passed away at Modi Seva Sadan hospital, Ranchi India. PP suffered from a urinary infection. PP Dada will be cremated in Ananda Nagar tomorrow, reportedly. On this occasion of his mahaprayan, may our dear PP Dada gain his eternal place under Baba's divine shelter. With brotherly love and affection, Manindra *Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in Bengal to describe the death of an honoured or even ordinary person. In that way the newspapers ofBengal are regularly citing the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away. Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily devotional term to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no devotees ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death). And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary on page 742. Checking there it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens.

  1. Namaskar ,
If there is no difference between (in terms of philosophical usage) "Prayan" and "Mahaprayan", then would you please clarify that whether there is any difference between "Sambhuuti" and "Mahasambhuuti" ?
    Thanks,

    Dear Bro Sourabhaji,

Namaskar. Thank you for your recent letter to AM-GLOBAL.

Please know that 'mahaprayan' is the term commonly used to signify the death of any citizen in Kolkata and other Bengali speaking areas. Mahaprayan means death. It is used for the street-sweeper as well as for a medical doctor or prime minister.

So mahaprayan is the term used to signify the death of any human being. If you look in any Bengali dictionary you will see that it is defined as 'death'.

Of course, when Baba Himself is Mahasambhuti, then there is no question of death as He is eternal. Baba never used any term to signify the physical disappearance of Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. He never used the term 'mahaprayan' in association with those two Mahasambhutis. Nor did He invent any other term to characterize the physical departure of Mahasambhuti.

Therefore, we should not use the term 'mahaprayan' in association with Baba, nor should we invent any other terminology.

We should simply honor the eternal presence of Baba within our hearts.

Finally, some say that a few people intentionally invented the term mahaprayan just to undermine Baba's magnanimity and create a stumbling block in our Marga, while others say that the term was born purely out of someone's stupidity and ignorance.

Regardless of the reason, the term clearly does not apply to Baba, Who is that Eternally Shining Divine Entity, indeed He is beginningless and endless. He is causeless.

Once again thank you for writing us here at AM-GLOBAL.

    Respectfully,
    Paresh
