Subject: Silly Hypothesis
Baba
"A'loker ya'tra' pathe, tumi prabhu theko sa'the..." (P.S. 2779)
Purport:
O' Baba, please remain along with me on the path of this effulgent
journey. By Your grace, do not allow me to lag behind and get caught in
the crest & troughs of my forward movement. Let my pathway be smooth by
Your grace.
Baba, I do not care about any bondages or samskaras. My only request is that
You please give me strength to do Your work and serve Your mission. This single
request I humbly make at Your lotus feet.
O' my Dearmost Baba, this whole entire creation is revolving round and
round-- propelled by the laws of karma. The great Cosmic Entity and the
unit being exist in this system of brahmacakra. The divine Entity is
that nucleus that the jiivas rotate around. So now Baba, in this very
cycle of brahmacakra, please also include me. Make it so that I shall
always remain as Your designated machine (yantra). In that way I will go
on executing Your task. Let my life be completely devoted unto You.
Baba, by Your grace, please remain with me on this journey of
effulgence-- all the while keeping me moving ahead in an unhindered way...
== SILLY HYPOTHESIS ==
Namaskar,
The grace of Parama Purusa is causeless; and that is exactly what Baba
Himself was demonstrating one afternoon in Ranchi in 1969. And that
demonstration is the subject of the discourse, 'Abhidhya'na Sama'dhi'
(AV-31).
Any bhakta reading that short discourse will understand that Baba is
revealing the sublime nature of His causeless grace: When a sadhaka's
mind is ensconced in His grace, then everything in this universe becomes
indescribably sweet & blissful. That is the inner essence and meaning of
Baba's demonstration.
Unfortunately, one jinani editor wrote his own self-styled analysis that
is printed as a lengthy footnote to the discourse. And that analysis, as
you will see, is totally off the mark. So much so that anyone who reads
that footnote will be totally misguided about the real meaning of Baba's
demonstration, as well as misguided about the entire concept of grace.
Because the jinani's analysis of the situation is that bad.
Without further delay let us look at the specifics of this important
case because based on this printed footnote in Ananda Vacanamrtam part
31, various readers will be misled not only today but for generations &
generations to come. Because they will assume that what is printed in
Baba's book must be correct-- even the editor's footnote. That is why we
we must get this wrongly written footnote corrected at the earliest.
TRUE SPIRIT OF BABA'S DEMONSTRATION
In that Ranchi demonstration, Baba is graciously revealing the nature of
His grace to one sadhaka who is feeling immense bliss. And here the key
point to remember is that Parama Purusa is the source of that bliss--
not any material object.
Baba says, "Because of the close proximity to Parama Purus'a they enjoy
tremendous bliss." (APH-4)
Baba furthermore reveals that based on one's own state of mind-- i.e.
when the mind becomes elevated and is absorbed in Him-- then even crude
objects will appear to be blissful. Because the mind is in a sublimely
sweet state, then even all the tanmatras (inferences) appear sweet as
well. That is the feeling one gets. But one must never think that really
those worldly objects are the cause of that indescribable bliss. Rather
that bliss comes only from Him-- and one gets this experience when their
mind is elevated.
Baba says, "The sa'dhaka realizes that he is experiencing a divine dip
in the holy aura, and feels indescribable bliss in the heart. In that
exalted state of realization every object of this universe seems to be
extremely sweet, and one derives immense bliss which no worldly object
could ever provide. The sun’s rays, the moon beams, the land, the water,
in fact everything appears to be emanating continuous stream of blissful
nectar." (APH-4)
And verily, in so many discourses, Baba reveals that when one's mind is
elevated and immersed in His flow, then everything appears to be
blissful. And not only that but one cannot even find the proper words to
describe that feeling. It is beyond human thought and expression. Only
one can drift in His bliss which appears to be emanating in all
directions, in all ways, and through all objects. Yet the inner reality
is that it all comes solely from Him. He is the sole cause.
Thus, in the aforementioned Ranchi demonstration of 1969, when the
sadhaka-- whose mind is quite elevated at the time due to His grace--
touches one shawl and feels immense bliss, we can easily know that that
bliss comes from Him and not from the shawl.
ONE EDITOR'S BACKWARD COMMENTARY
However, one jinani editor wrote a totally misguided footnote about the
Ranchi demonstration. And that footnote appears in AV-31, just beneath
the short, printed discourse-- which is really a description of that
demonstration.
The jinani editor goes on to say that as the sadhaka's mind gets
elevated then it realises more subtle features of crude objects like
shawls, until one will realise that a shawl is nothing but dust and
finally bliss. See here what the editor writes:
when his or her mind becomes a bit elevated, might perceive
the shawl as having been “powdered down”, or pulverized, into
dust...subatomic particles... touch of a solid object will be...
carrying with it the bliss... -Eds
So in his misguided approach, that editor is wrongly concluding that as
one gains more and more subtle appreciation of a shawl then one will
realise it is nothing but bliss. But that explanation is totally wrong.
The reality that Baba is teaching us is that when the mind comes in His
contact then one will think that everything is blissful, even crude
material objects.
So the jinani editor has it backwards and gives the wrong logic that if
one looks at any object then one can develop a more subtle appreciation
of that object and realise its true nature to be that of bliss.
By that misguided description-- rather than trying to realise Him by
doing sadhana-- people will just opt to rent high-powered microscopes
and try to find that very subtle bliss which that jinani says is just
beneath the layer of those sub-atomic particles. Thus, in his faulty
analysis, this jinani editor has reduced Baba's fantastic concept of
causeless grace to a mere facet of material science.
TWO DISTINCT REASONS FOR THIS EDITOR'S PROBLEM
#1: JINANIS PRONE TO FALSE THEORIES
One might naturally wonder then how is it that the jinani editor
flip-flopped the whole situation. How did he totally misunderstand the
meaning of Baba's demonstration.
[#1] Firstly, when one is a jinani, then they are prone to making false
& concocted theories.
Baba says, "“Loka Vya'moha Ka'raka.” That is, 'They [jinanis]create
disease in the minds of the people.' Their aim is not to solve society’s
problems. Rather, they are the chief cause for the downfall, retardation
and sad plight of human society. The present crisis in today’s
civilization is due to them. Their theories are based on the psychology
and intellectual extravaganza of the hypocrite. You will certainly
encounter many such theories in the social sphere, the economic sphere,
and other spheres of life. This is not the problem of a single country,
but of the entire intellectual world. Again I repeat that the crisis in
civilization today is due to the intellectual extravaganza of these
hypocrites." (AFPS-6)
So this is not a new thing, with their intellectual extravaganza jinanis
have a tendency to make diseased & faulty theories that misguide the
people. And that is exactly what this editor has done. Due to his own
defective thinking, he is telling people that bliss is to be found in
the subtle layers of material objects when in fact all bliss comes only
from Him-- not from crude objects like shawls etc.
#2: LITERAL, MATERIAL ANALYSIS
[#2] The second reason why this jinani editor went off the wrong track
is that he is foolishly analysing the sadhaka's statements and literally
analysing the sadhaka's actions.
For instance, in that discourse, Baba is filling that sadhaka's mind
with immense bliss and the sadhaka is giving replies to various
questions and holding onto one shawl. But one should not then form an
analysis based on that sadhaka's retorts nor should one think that the
cause is due to crude material articles like one shawl. Because due to
His grace that sadhaka is experiencing something that is far, far beyond
human understanding and expression. And in that state-- bereft of any
words or capacity to describe the situation-- the sadhaka may utter
senseless phrases because he is in such an indescribable state of bliss.
Baba says, "During this sama'dhi, sa'dhakas experience indescribable
bliss. They totally forget their human existence and feel oneness with
Parama' Prakrti or with Paramashiva. One cannot utter anything except
some inarticulate sounds through the sides of the mouth." (TK-2)
Thus when analysing Baba's demonstrations on sadhakas, one must not look
to the sadhaka to find answers about what is going on. One must not
think that, 'Oh the sadhaka is touching a shawl', and that shawl is the
reason or cause, and one must not think that 'the sadhaka said blissful
dust', so that is what it must be.
Rather one must think that Baba is gracing that sadhaka and bringing him
closer to Parama Purusa. And for that reason the sadhaka's mind is
totally immersed in bliss.
Unfortunately this devotional understanding was lost on that jinani
editor, so instead he wrote his own misguided intellectual analysis of
the demonstration based on his own crude motor and sensory organs. The
jinani editor saw a shawl and thought that was the cause and that the
bliss was inside the shawl. This is what he wrote in that footnote that
now appears in Baba's book, Ananda Vacanamrtam part 31
BOOK MUST BE CORRECTED
When such irresponsible editorial footnotes have been printed in Baba's
divine books, then there is no other option than to remove them entirely
from His books. Because such faulty footnotes give a wrong understanding
to the reader. They are a hindrance to understanding AM ideology and
wrongly portray what Baba wants to say. That is why the only option is
to rip out such misguided footnotes from Baba's holy books. That is the
first step.
And then later-- with a cool and devotional mind-- if it is felt that
really an explanation is needed, then as a community we can all discuss
about the best way to do this. But no one should hastily put their own
crude understanding and paste it as a footnote like this one editor Dada
did. That is not proper and should be undone at the earliest.
BABA'S BLESSING
Everything in this universe is grounded in His divine grace. He is
causeless and His grace is causeless and there is no second explanation
behind this universe. And that is the underlying essence of all His
demonstrations and every AM discourse. Unfortunately, one jinani editor
went searching for his own silly hypothesis with his little brain, and
the consequence is that what he wrote in his footnote is unacceptable.
The reality is that the Ranchi demonstration of 1969 is only about one
idea-- that the causeless grace of Parama Purusa is beyond human
expression and understanding, and that when one's mind is elevated and
feels His grace then everything in this universe is blissful.
Baba says, "'Out of the grace of the supreme, the universe has emerged;
due to His grace, the universe preserves its existence; and because of
His grace, everything will finally dissolve in Him.' So the final word
in the realm of spirituality is the supreme grace of Parama Purus'a.
Intelligent people will understand this supreme truth and move
accordingly. It is true not only in the physical level, nor in the
physico-psychic level, nor in the psychic, nor in the psycho-spiritual
level, but in all levels." (SS-18)

Note 1: WHAT OUR EDITOR WROTE
The editor who wrote this footnote is Dada Acyutananda and he is the one
who got it pasted into Baba's book, Ananda Vacanamratm part 31 in the
chapter titled, 'Abhidhya'na Sama'dhi'. And it is this footnote, as well
as others like it, that must be removed from our AM books.
Here then is that actual footnote that is now printed in AV-31 that this
editor Dada wrote.
"Abhidhya'na sama'dhi is attained through a meditation process wherein
physical objects come to be perceived in increasingly subtle ways. Thus
a sa'dhaka might perceive only the normal solid integrity of a shawl
when his or her mind is in a normal state; but when his or her mind
becomes a bit elevated, might perceive the shawl as having been
“powdered down”, or pulverized, into dust. Later on it will appear still
further powdered down into its component subatomic particles (“ions” in
philosophical language). And finally when the mind becomes maximally
elevated, the sa'dhaka will perceive a solid object as the consciousness
that it intrinsically is. At that stage the touch of a solid object will
be like the touch of Supreme Consciousness, carrying with it the bliss
of Supreme Consciousness." –Eds.
That is the entire footnote that Dada A wrote and by reading it it is
quite clear that our editor Dada thinks that one can find bliss in the
shawl. Or at least that is what he wrote, when in fact all bliss comes
from Him and one realises this when their mind is in an elevated state
by His grace.

Ultravarious to Ideology
Baba says, "You should remember that a situation will never arise in
this world which will give you cause for fear. It has been said that
Parama Purusa is the fear of fear. That is, fear is as afraid of Parama
Purusa as humans are afraid of fear." "Ananda Marga is essentially
Tantra-orientated, it too, has a few special features of its own. As I
have said previously, our ideology maintains that no-one need be afraid
of anything under any circumstances. If anyone does get afraid, it
should be understood that he is doing something ultravarious to our
ideology." (Kolkata, 14 November 1978)
