BABA
Namaskara!
Great post. It shows that devotion towards the Supreme is the real goal. It is obvious that this poor soul has no real devotion, because had he developed a personal love relationship with BABA, then he wouldn't be so negative and quoting such imperfect beings.
Further, as you know, "as you think, so you shall become." So, his negative thoughts such as "being a fool," as in the Japanese proverb, creates the reality that he will behave as such--that is to say, a fool.
I liked your Baba quote on how people like these become the type of negative microvita you mentioned.
Also this next teaching from Baba is of value as we should not waste our time indulged in useless pursuits like sharing these dogmatic quotes with others.
Baba says, "The psychic potentialities of human beings are immense, but people do not utilize them because most of their valuable time is wasted in undesirable thoughts, in psychic extravaganza. Suppose human life is an average of sixty years. Twenty years of that is spent in sleep, and the remaining forty years are wasted in petty or useless activities. How much time do people really get to devote to worthwhile tasks? This psychic extravaganza should be checked either by physical approach, or psychic approach, or by spirituo-psychic approach." (Yoga Psychology, Cult of Pinnacled Order)
Here are further points to keep in mind:
1. It seems SS Goenka Dada's mind is low and there by he wants others to misuse and abuse their psychic capacity as well.
2. Again we should review this key teaching from Beloved Baba.
Baba says, "How much time do people really get to devote to worthwhile tasks? This psychic extravaganza should be checked either by physical approach, or psychic approach, or by spirituo-psychic approach." (Yoga Psychology, Cult of Pinnacled Order)
ONLY THOSE DROWNED IN EGO LOSE THEIR BALANCE WHEN AGED;
BHAKTAS DO NOT SUFFER IN THIS WAY
3. As to the question posed whether everyone will lose their common sense as they become aged. I feel the answer is - "no". Everyone will not become like this. Only those indulged in ego, money, wealth, power, vanity of intellect, and crude beauty are going to suffer in this way and lose their mental balance and viveka.
Good sadhakas and devotees will maintain their psychic equilibrium and continue to progress spiritually, by His grace. That is Baba's direct guideline.
So this malady of becoming mentally imbalanced applies only to those dominated by egoistic, self-centered dealings.
4. May this elderly margii shed his ego so he will be drenched by Baba's divine blissing and thus get opportunity to develop his devotion for Parama Purusa and be saved from such destruction that he is now heading toward.
Baba Nam Kevalam.
Namaskar,
Brahmadeva
