Namaskar, Lately there has been discussion and talk about some of the sexual misconduct in GT sector:

Of course, such events are not limited to GT sector alone - many are aware about such things happening in other sectors such as Delhi, NY, Manila etc. So we must be vigilant and take action. This negative trend since 1990 will further push our Marga downward, if we do not take proper recourse. The only way out is to be strict in Baba's guidelines otherwise more and more incidents will crop up. Detailed in this letter is some of the latest news coming out of GT sector.

BABA'S STRICT CODE BETWEEN DADAS & DIDIS "DO NOT GO EVEN IF THEIR JAGRTI IS ON FIRE"

We all know that Baba is adamant that the relations between male and females - and especially between Dadas and Didis - should be very clear, if not distant. Certainly no Dada should be regularly staying at a Didi's MU. Baba would declare in reporting sessions that at any cost no Dada is allowed to stay in a Didi's jagrti or MU. Baba says such events must not ever happen. Baba would say, "Even if the Didi's jagrti is on fire, NO Dada should go there to put out the fire. Instead the family margiis should go and help." By this way, we can easily understand that Baba clearly wants strict separation between Dadas and Didis.

MORE OF BABA'S GUIDELINES

Here are some of Baba's other guidelines about Dada-Didi relations: - WWD will conduct their own inspections of their jagrtis and Master Units. - Only after attaining permission from WWD can GS Dada and his team can go to inspect or visit a Didis jagrti. Lower posted acaryas can NEVER go to a Didi jagrti or Master Unit. - There is to be no communication or visitation between general Dadas and Didis. They will only see each other during the weekly dharmacakra held at the brother's jagrti. And that DC must be held at the regularly scheduled time - not in early morning or late night hours. - After the weekly dharmacakra, the Didis must leave the brothers jagrti by sunset. And in Baba's time, Didis would have to leave Central Office by sunset and must never be there alone. So in our Marga there is strict separation between Dadas and Didis. No one should be staying that the others MU - not once and certainly not on a regular basis, as is now happening in GT sector and elsewhere.

WHY BUDDHISTS GOT KICKED OUT OF INDIA

Buddhism took birth in India and thrived in India - only to be later essentially purged from India. Many of Buddhas disciples pleaded that when everything in this universe is part of the One, then why should there be any difference between males and females, why can't females become Buddhist nuns. Till that time there were only Buddhist monks. As the story goes, the Buddha accepted the plea of his disciples and then declared, "The life of Buddhism has just been reduced in half." And sure enough, Shankaracarya rooted out Buddhism from India and he had the support of the general populace as well, because it was commonly known that there was co-habitation of male and female in the Buddhist monasteries and so much nonsense behavior was happening. There was sexual scandal in nearly every Buddhist monastery. For that reason Buddhism was rejected and tossed aside. We must not allow our Marga to meet a similar fate.

RECENT EVENTS IN GT SECTOR: HOW SOME DADAS BECAME HABITUATED TO STAYING IN DIDIS MU AND THE SCANDAL THAT ENSUED

This particular incident occurred approximately two years ago when Dada Atmapranananda began staying regularly at the Didi's Master Unit in Venezuela, which is two hours from the capital city and near a local bus station. And as you will see, this incident is very much related with the present. At that time, Dada Atmapranananda was posted and living nearby the Didis MU and he gradually grew accustomed to staying and sleeping at the Didis MU. Why or how this began, he can best say. Unfortunately, it was not long before Dada Atmapranananda got into a sexual relationship with the Didi's main LFT. This affair all going on in secret. By candlelight he would slyly make his way across the MU for his rendezvous. This went on for some time. It should be clarified that it was not totally secret that he was on the MU, but it was not at all known that Dada was sexually involved with the LFT. They hid their relationship. Then one night, Dada got caught - and he was banished from the MU and sent for retraining / punishment. It is not altogether known exactly what happened with the LFT sister in the wake of the scandal, but eventually she went to WT training in Sweden. Now here is why this story is being told. After a few months when Dada Atmapranananda finished his "punishment" & retraining etc, then he was reposted back to the scene of the crime. His posting is very close to the same Didi MU where the scandal occurred. And still this Dada is taking regular trips to the MU. And still on occasion he is staying there at night. That is why all the margiis and even the local people are whispering about this. Dadaji seems to be on the cusp of yet another scandal and at the very least he has no reason to stay at the MU. That will only lead to trouble.

NOT UNKNOWN TO OTHER DADAS

I do not like to bring Dada Maheshvaranandji into this affair as he is a senior and respected Dada. But here it has to be stated that Dadaji is well aware about all the details in this case. Ac Maheshvaranandaji knows what scandal happened in the past and he fully aware that still today Dada Atmapranananda is taking overnight visits to the Didis Master Unit. Actually, Atmapranananda's posting is close to the Didi's MU in Venezuela and Dada Maheshvarananda's posting is about two hours away from the Didi's MU. Yet on occasion, sometimes both of these Dadas sleep at the Didi's Master Unit. This is not uncommon. Please understand, this is not at all to say that Dada Maheshvaranandji is embroiled in a sexual scandal. That is not at all the point nor anyone's claim. Only the matter comes to the fore because he is a very senior Dada who is well aware of Baba's guidelines and he knows what hell happened at that MU when his junior worker began staying there. All this Dadaji knows. Yet today, under his supervision, Dada Maheshvaranandji is allowing Dada Atmapranananda to occasionally stay at the Didi's MU and on some nights, sometimes they both stay there. And both are directly and indirectly involved in activities on the Didi's MU. This in the aftermath of the recent sexual scandal and all done when it is clearly known that Baba does not want any worker to ever visit - let alone stay over or sleep at - a Didi's jagrti or MU. That is why many are saying that it will not be long before another scandal erupts and many are questioning why Atmapranananda has even been allowed to return to the scene of the crime, i.e. why was he again posted to the same place and why are senior Dadas like Maheshvaranandji allowing this to occur. This is what is spinning through everybody's mind. Certainly it is not in accordance with Baba's teaching nor WT conduct rules.

MUST BE ANSWERABLE TO CONDUCT RULES

Such issues are not limited to GT sector alone. Tragically, in all sectors, we have seen more and more how workers are falling away from Baba's teachings and conduct rules. Baba has given a very clear and comprehensive listing of WT conduct rules. And those are to be followed strictly. All know how Baba would adamantly point out all deviations from such rules in front of everyone in reporting sessions and event during DMC. So we should all be sure that there is complete adherence to all WT conduct rules. That means no Dada staying at a Didi's jagrti or MU. Here the point is not to embarrass any worker per se, but rather to save our Marga from falling into mire and scandal. Sexual misconduct is very controversial. Such misconduct led to the fall of Buddhism and we see today what chaos it has caused in the Catholic church. We must not let our Marga fall into a similar state of affairs.

BABA'S BLESSING

By Baba's grace and by strict adherence to His conduct rules, our acarya structure will once again become a beacon of light for the humanity. That means perfect compliance of His given codes of conduct and no worker staying at a Didi's jagrti or MU. Baba says, "Those who have the responsibility to show the path to others should be of superlative character with the most refined conduct. They and their followers must move constantly towards all-round development and shreya [ultimate spiritual attainment]. Persons who teach such well-regulated behaviour to others by their own conduct are called a'ca'ryas. Bear in mind that people may be harmed or misled by even a small weakness or defect in the conduct of an a'ca'rya." (AV-31) Namaskar, Karma Rasa

Note 1: MORE ABOUT THE LFT

Some say that it was good that the LFT did this. By that way she could make a separation from Dada and the past. But some contend that without proper punishment given to the LFT, Didi Ananda Sadhana sent or gave permission for the LFT to go for WT training. Certainly the bulk of the blame is on Dada, but we all have to think what would have been the best way to treat the LFT involved. She was not totally innocent in the affair. Many times people are accepted into WT TC after shady dealings or mishaps in the past, that is OK. But should there not there be some greater rectification process involved as well, or is WT training itself that process. We can all think on this.

Baba says, "If a man constantly chants his japa mantra or meditates ceaselessly, then the rhythm of this japa, the rhythm that adores the Guru during dhyana, will act as auto-suggestion during the time of sleep, although he does not remember it...A sadhaka with this capacity continues his dhyana and japa even in sleep. This kind of japa is called "Ajapa' Japa"; that is to say, without performing japa, one is actually performing it. And it is called "Adhya'na' Dhyana", which means that without actually meditating, the act of meditation is going on." (YP, 1991 Edn, p. 150-51)
