Subject: Be Aware About Cosmetic Surgery
Baba
Namaskar,
It is extremely dangerous to put your trust in materialistic-minded people, whether they be bankers, roofers, businessmen, politicians, or surgeons.
Look what happened in this case. You might have heard the news that at least 30,000 women in Europe received wrongful treatment in their cosmetic surgery. A company known as PIP (Poly Implant Prothese) knowingly used a low-grade industrial silicone gel, originally manufactured for use in mattresses, in place of specialist medical materials. And they intentionally hid this fact from the public. Now those women have that poisonous substance in their bodies and have to have it removed or suffer the consequences, i.e. sickness, disease and death.
This is a widening scandal with many countries involved. Now they are finding that this is not limited to European nations only. Rather the France-based company, PIP, shipped their defective products all over. Tens and tens of thousands of people are no doubt affected in developing countries where such cases go unreported.
It is highly unfortunate that these women were misled and harmed. It was reported today that the owner of PIP, Mr Mas has not an iota of sympathy for those who were harmed. That is yet another grotesque aspect to this scandal.
As margiis and Proutists, we should examine the deeper reason behind this fraud.
Essentially, the answer is simple. In capitalism, matter is the goal. People have to earn money at any cost. Plus one can become ultra-rich quickly by deceptive means. That is what happened in this instance.
PIP chose material that was for industrial use and put that in the human body in order to increase their profits, and now innocent people are suffering and dying. This is the horror of the materialistic outlook inherent in capitalism.
Baba has given the solution to all such problems. In capitalism the motive is profit, i.e. to make as much money as possible regardless of the consequences. The answer then lies in the service oriented approach of a Proutistic economy.
Baba says, "In the capitalist structure, industry or production is governed by the profit motive, but in the Proutistic structure production will be governed by the motive of consumption." (Prout in a Nutshell, part 15, Talks on Prout)
Here consumption means producing goods in a honest and cooperative manner that serves the public, not enticing people to purchase what they do not need just to earn a profit - which is what capitalism fosters.
Baba says, "Most countries in the world have adopted economic systems which are profit oriented – that is, production is undertaken for profit. Producers give first preference to those items which bring maximum profit, so everywhere there is keen competition regarding the production of the most profitable goods...To increase the standard of living of the people, a new system of production will have to be introduced. Consumption, not profit, should be the underlying motive in the field of production." (Prout in a Nutshell, part 21, Decentralized Economy – 1)
To come out of this capitalistic nightmare, a new outlook is needed. That is Baba's expressed guideline.
It should be taught: O' human being - the entire humanity is your family, this entire universe in your homeland, and this entire creation is the manifestation of Parama Purusa. A person should serve others and do business with this motive.
In stark contrast, with the profit motive cheating and deception are rampant. When the motive is service - and one looks upon all as their brother and sister - then there is no scope for cheating. A person cannot think in that way.
For instance, when a mother cares for her baby then she never thinks to deceive her defenseless baby. Rather her sole motive is service, i.e. the welfare of the baby. And in a Proutistic economy, that same type of benevolence will be the guiding factor.
But today's capitalistic businessmen think the best time to approach the public is when they are helpless. Then those innocent people are at the their mercy. Such is the business motive of capitalists.
In fact, I recall one businessman, who was selling petrol in black market, and he told me that if a horse cultivates a friendship with the grass then what will it eat. His point was that a capitalist will never become friends with his customers because then he will make less money. Actually, I had told him that I wanted to purchase something from him and he told indirectly me that, "You are the grass and I (the businessman) am the horse." So he has to make 100%, 200% or more profit in order to survive. That was his fateful message.
Such is their bogus justification and selfish avenue for becoming fatter and fatter and cheating the starving public.
Besides the propagation of Prout, no enforcement by law, no court edict, no police intervention can stop the wicked and greedy ways of capitalism. Within the current capitalistic system, there is no safety valve or solution to the miseries of the profit motive. An outside of capitalism there is no other solution. Only Prout is the answer.
Baba says, "PROUT is the panacea for the integrated progress of human society. It aims to bring about equilibrium and equipoise in all aspects of socio-economic life through totally restructuring economics. Without PROUT, socio-economic emancipation will remain a utopian dream." (A Few Problems Solved - 9, Economic Dynamics)
We must preach and teach the word of Prout and change the motive to that of service and consumption.
So long as capitalism is in vogue, tragedies like the recent PIP scandal will go on - plus there are many other horrible deceptive methods that go unreported. For this reason, because of the profit motive, humans are suspicious of one another - and the situation is getting worse. Baba has given the solution with neo-humanism and Prout. Our duty is to propagate these ideals and relieve humanity from unnecessary suffering.
Namaskar,
Amrit
Germany urges removal of PIP implant
As countries around the world reach different conclusions as to the danger posed by potentially faulty implants made by the French company PIP, Germany recommended on Friday that women who have them should get the implants removed.
Following complaints from hundreds of women, investigators in France have opened a probe into sub-standard silicone used in implants made by the now-defunct Poly Implant Prothese (PIP).
A deluge of accusations against PIP has triggered a worldwide scare, with several countries including France now advising thousands of women to have the implants surgically removed.
However, the assessment of the danger has varied widely in Europe. The British government said Friday there was no evidence to recommend that more than 40,000 women in Britain with PIP implants should have them removed.
Meanwhile the Czech Republic said that up to 2,000 Czech women who received the implants should have them taken out.
Fears over its implants spread around the world last month after French health authorities advised 30,000 women to have their PIP implants removed because of the increased risk of rupture.
Officials have also said that cancer, including 16 cases of breast cancer, had been detected in 20 French women with the implants, but have insisted there is no proven link with the disease.
The German government has not released a figure on how many women here have the implants although it has said just 19 have reported silicone leaking.
The German institute said recent information had led it to revise its advisory from December 23 in which it said that patients should ask their doctors to examine whether their implants had developed tears and then decide whether further measures were necessary.
"Due to the rising number of notices from doctors, trade organisations and hospitals in recent days, the BfArM has expanded its risk assessment for PIP and Rofil breast implants," it said.
"These notices say that silicone from such implants increasingly and over time can leak, even in those without tears."
It said the likelihood of rupture depended largely on how long the women had the implants, adding that it was in close contact with other European health authorities to assess the risk.
The institute urged doctors and hospitals to continue to report problems as they develop.
Around 300,000 women in 65 countries are believed to have PIP implants. An unknown proportion are made with sub-standard gel which the firm, once the world's third-largest silicone implant producer, used to cut its costs.
PIP was shut down and its products banned in 2010 after it was revealed to have been using a silicone gel that caused abnormally high rupture rates.
The founder of PIP said Thursday much of the information emerging in the scandal was untrue but refused further comment.
In a statement, Jean-Claude Mas denounced the "impressive number of untruths" that had emerged but said he would refrain from making other public comments because of a judicial investigation.
