== LOWLY MENTALITY THAT GETS ATTRACTED TO RAMDEVJI ==

Namaskar,
Much is being made in the press and the general populace about the tactics currently employed by Swami Ramdevji. Just to avoid any possible confusion we should review this scene according to Baba's ideological standard.

THIS PHILOSOPHY DIED LONG AGO

As is evident, Ramdev is employing Gandhian philosophy and Gandhian techniques - both of which never bear fruit. Indeed Baba has declared how the efficacy of Gandhi's teachings died long ago.

Baba says, "The philosophy of Gandhi died before India got independence – it died long before Gandhi died." (Prout Nutshell- Part 15, Defects of Communism – Section C)

Thus, as margiis we should propagate Baba's ideals and not get sidetracked by these silly methods used by Ramdev.

EVERYTHING HAS SOME VALUE

Baba has plainly said that everything in this universe has got at least some redeeming value. Everything has at least a minimal amount of sentient properties or sattvaguna. After all even garbage can be converted into compost or energy. But that does not mean that one should go around collecting garbage and stuffing it into their car or house.

Similarly, Ramdev's ideas have at least a little value. As Ananda Margiis however, we should not get swayed by that slight glimmer - we should not start following those things. Because we know that Baba's divine teachings are perfect in all respects. In that case why should we be even remotely moved by this noted swami.

Here we have can only conclude that only those not familiar with Baba's teachings and only those lacking in devotional sadhana could get attracted by any such fake type of movement. So with open arms we should try and bring them onto the proper path. That is our sacred duty.

As Ananda Margiis we are firmly rooted in our AM way of life and do not peer for answers or inspiration in any other direction.

BABA STORY:

WHEN SOME GOT ATTRACTED TO JAYA PRAKASH NARAYAN

Here is a very relevant and meaningful story that relates well with some of the events unfolding these days in India.

As many may recall, back in 1975 Jaya Prakash Narayan - a disciple of Gandhi - started an anti-corruption movement that became extremely popular with students across India. The movement was called Sampurn' Kranti (Sampoorna Kranti) or Total Revolution. People flocked to his meetings.

That time certain Wt and margii Proutists also became attracted to JP Narayan's Sampurn' Kranti or Total Revolution movement. And they attended that meeting etc.

Upon hearing this Baba called those Proutists and became furious. They were brought before Baba and beaten. Baba scolded them, "You are sheep just following herd psychology; Better is that you should propagate Prout / AM ideology. Do not be attracted by silly movements. That philosophy is dead."

In this way Baba harshly rebuked those margiis for their interest and support in JP Narayan's Sampurn' Kranti movement.

Then Baba ordered Ac Raghunathji to address the matter. So Ac Raghunath published a book aimed at educating margiis so that they would not get befooled by or attracted to JP Narayan's movement. Raghunathji's book was called: Sampurn' Kranti Kii A'dha'rshila' (Foundation of Sampurna Kranti or Total Revolution).

By this way everyone in the Marga clearly understood that our job is to propagate Prout / AM ideology and not get allured by other types of movements based on faulty teachings. And indeed as it turned out, JP Nararyan's movement came into power in 1977 via Parliamentary elections. But in a short 2 1/2 year period that government became wrought with cheating, scandals, corruption and worse. By 1980 that party was voted out of office and they lost all their power.

So again, Baba's entire teaching is that do not run off and join other half-baked movements just because they have become popular etc, rather one should propagate the divine ideals of AM.

It is unfortunate that a few people do not know the above history because at present some of our dear and respected brothers and sisters of the Marga are seemly committing the same exact problem. A few margiis & Wts are quite enamoured with the likes of Anna Hazare or Swami Ramdevji. Like JP Narayan, these two are also "anti-exploitation" fighters and adherent of Gandhism etc. And some margiis are anxious to praise Anna Hazare or Ramdevji up to the sky, paint him as a great social leader, and support his cause etc. I cannot fault those margiis - all I can do is blame myself for having not educated them to follow Baba and not these Gandhian preachers.

So again I will offer: Back in the 1970's this exact situation was addressed by Baba. Today's Anna Hazare episode is nothing but a repeat of the JP Narayan ordeal from 1974. And Baba did not want any margii or wt to support him. And those who did were severely rebuked and punished by Baba. But because margiis do not know this important history, a few may be defending and rallying around Hazare or Ramdev.

I feel confident that any margii temporarily swayed in such a direction will immediately right their course after hearing the above story about Baba's viewpoint towards JP Narayan.

THIS ANALOGY IS ALSO GOOD:

BUFFALOES DRINKING WATER

Here is an analogy that is also pertinent to today's events.

There was a person drinking sweet, purified water. But, as fate would have it, he also suffered from an inferiority complex and was therefore easily swayed when he saw what others were doing.

One day he saw 100 buffaloes drinking muddy pond water. By seeing so many buffaloes slurping up all that water - influenced by their sheer numbers - the man became attracted and joined them in drinking that muddy water.

The man thought that this muddy water must be better than what he was drinking because 100 buffaloes were drinking pond water and he was drinking his pure water all by himself.

This man wrongly concluded that the "better product or plan" was determined by the vast number of followers. That is why this foolish man walked away from his pure, sweet water and started drinking the dirty pond water with those herds of buffaloes.

On this earth, there are many who could not come close to Baba, i.e. Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji, the Taraka Brahma. Yet these very same persons began hovering around fake gurus like Rajneesh and Satya Sai Baba etc. That was the unfortunate fate of such people. They could not realise the Divine Personality of Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji and instead got allured by the hoards following these lesser gurus.

When I think about that I feel pity on them. Actually they do not have experience in devotion and AM ideology that is why they are easily affected by crowds in other camps. Such persons do not like to come to small, dharmic, devotional gatherings like dharmacakra, and instead are attracted to major dogmatic happenings like the khumba mela etc.

Baba describes this lowly mentality in His discourse, Shreya and Preya from Subhasita Samghraha-3. We should gently educate such people who follow dogmatic gurus simply because they are popular. By employing psychological pracara methods, we may positively affect their forward movement, by Baba's grace.

When their devotion grows and their mind gets clear then those same people will not run towards the crowd. Rather,  with their devotional heart and increased viveka they see through the fog and march on the path of dharma.

I think now this entire matter is clear.

Note: SHADES OF THE SAME COLOUR

Of course the vast majority of Ananda Margiis are true bhaktas of the Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji, and are not swayed by any sideshow or scene. Only a very small few do get goaded by the glitz and glamour of these lesser gurus, and they may argue that Ramdev is better than Anna Hazare or vice-versa. In truth however Ramdev and Anna Hazare are merely shades of the same color.

In the same way that capitalism and communism are basically the same kind of dogma in contrast to Prout.

Baba says, "Communism is state capitalism...capitalism and communism are the same internally." (Prout Nutshell -Part 16, Decentralized Economy – 2)

Similarly Anna Hazare and Ramdev get lumped in the same pile in contrast to the Divinity of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. Every true Ananda Margii recognises this fact.

Some may expound all night long on the great differences between Hazare and Ramdev but for true Ananda Margiis these two are basically one and same - i.e. adherents of Gandhi's defective ways.

Whereas we follow the divine Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurthi and His eternal teachings of Ananda Marga.
